We stayed here for a week for the OCA Nats. Check in was easy, and the staff friendly. It's a pretty clean place, house keeping does a good job. Parking is not great, if it's busy you are going to have to walk some distance. A few crazy things here I don't understand. There are glasses in the bathroom and for water in the room. The glasses are in no way sealed or wrapped. 20/20 did a story about this years ago. About how the glasses are never cleaned, just rinsed out after use. If you drop a glass in the bathroom, there is ceramic tile on the floor. It is unsanitary and unsafe to have glasses. I haven;t seen them for years anywhere. The coffee cups are cardboard, but those are also not wrapped. The handicapped room we had was dysfunctional, too many things wrong in the bathroom to even list here. The food and service at their 1863 restaurant are terrible, and way overpriced. You can see my reviews on that elsewhere. Please be sure to read them. There is a small coffee shop, that was open at weird times. I guess they figure they have captive diners here, so let's charge 'em high and give substandard service. Our large banquet there was an absolute disaster!!! They ran out of food, the desserts were terrible, you had to bus your own table and remove the dirty dishes. There were no coffee cups on the table, you had to get up to get your own coffee 50 feet away. There were maybe 6 staff for 20+ tables!!! The killer was...the food was really bad, too. I've been to 100's of banquets and this was the worst ever, by far. It appears anything to do with food here is going to lead to problems. So if you are planning a dinner, banquet, or breakfast here...I would think a VERY long time about it. Just go to their restaurant for dinner, don't tell them you are planning an affair, and see if what I say is not true! So...I have 2 tips for you. Breakfast is definitely not included here. My first tip is, obviously, don't eat here. My 2nd tip is they can give you discounted tickets for the on site movie theater. They also have some kind of special that includes several things like movie tickets, early or late checkout, and maybe food or something like that. I'm giving them a 2 star rating for the reasons I mentioned. That's because I've definitely experienced better and this place is definitely NOT A-OK. That's all they deserve. read more

Very nice hotel. Clean and the staff is very friendly. Upon checking in, the front desk asked the ages of our children, then upgraded our room to a larger one at no extra charge. Excellent customer service! One pet peeve of mine in hotels is the water savers in the showers are annoying. This one didn't have this issue. It has a large rain shower head and plenty of hot water! The only thing missing was USB ports for charging devices. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. read more

If you're visiting Gettysburg and don't want to deal with zoo house downtown, staying at the Wyndam makes sense. Some people want that old fashioned bed and breakfast experience but my girlfriend and I just wanted a place to freshen up and sleep. I booked my weekend stay based on reviews online and figured the masses can't be wrong. What you pay is what you get, make sure to book early (at least one-week) and save a few bucks. I stayed in a single king-sized bed and and the run was a lot better than what I expected. On the plus size, the 1863 Restaurant is downstairs and Appalachian Brew Company is across the street from the main lobby with the R/C Gateway Theater 8 is within walking distance if you want to unwind and catch a movie after a day of site seeing. I'd recommend before booking, see the latest reviews on the hotel you're staying at since some of the places that have had high-reviews on the past have slid in recent months/years. Make sure to pack a bathing suit, the spa/swimming pool stays open till 11 pm. read more

Stayed here again last week and it was great. We love the civil war decorations and appreciate the "market" in the lobby of the hotel where they serve coffee and have snacks for purchase. Really good service. We slept well and had a nice time in Gettysburg. read more

1893 Restaurant My host treated me to a tour of the Wyndham properties and we had lunch at the 1863 restaurant. The staff was attentive and most courteous. The dining room is designed in a presidential motif that evoked an experience of elegance and agreeability. The food was excellent in taste and presentation. I ordered the crab cake sandwich which was served on a soft kaiser roll with a side cole slaw. I exchanged the chips for a bowl of white bean vegetable soup. The soup is a must try! Excellent food. Attentive, pleasant and courteous staff. Wonderful atmosphere and reasonable price. I look forward to dining here again soon. read more

Unprofessional service providers. No fridge or microwave in the room. People working at the front desk need more training. No bells or whistles that a 3 star hotel normally has such as complimentary light snacks and at least coffee. Bed was not made well and found hair on the sheets and finger prints on the glass. My senior prom was held a few weeks ago here.The employees who helped put it on for us were very friendly, and the ballroom was set up just right. The hotel had plenty of space, which was great considering how many students came. And not to mention the place was very clean and tidy. There were also rumors going in that there would be food prepared for us. Sure enough they did, and they didn't skimp out on the choices. Chicken wings, veggies, dumplings, all kinds of hor d'oeuvres, and plenty of desserts and drinks. Definitely a great place to hold a party. The only reason why I didn't give this place a five-star rating, is because I didn't actually buy a room and stay and receive the full treatment of the hotel. We only stayed here for a single night, and had to get rolling in the morning, but it was rather pleasant! Had a lovely dinner at the 1863 restaurant, where the food is made with locally-sourced ingredients (e.g., our waiter told us that an Amish guy comes in every week to sell them cheese). The bartender working that night was quite friendly, and the battle-themed cocktails were pretty good! We liked the Gettysburg Passion. Adding one star for 1863 and the bar. Everything, down to the eagles and stars and stripes on the carpets, is patriotically period-themed. The lobby and rooms is inviting, clean, comfortable, and feels luxurious. (We had a 1 king room, which felt reasonably spacious for two people.) Two complementary bottles of water, but no mini fridge. About $110 for the night; not a bad deal. The employees are friendly, courteous, and willing to help. There's a small gift shop/convenience store in the lobby (not much of a selection, though). Solid experience, too bad I couldn't stay longer to make use of the pool or theater across the street. read more

We had an amazing trip to this hotel. It was a first time stay. We rented 7 rooms. The staff was amazing. Adrian was so helpful. He really made the experience great. If there was one suggestion I could make, it would be to have free coffee in the lobby every day, not just on new years day. The place was clean, the gym was mostly all cardio but there had an incline bench and some free weights. The pool and hot tub were very nice. We didn't eat at rhe restaurant but spoke to a lot of people who said the chef was amazing and the food was out of this world so we would like to try that on our next stay! Incredibly disappointed for the amount you pay. We actually paid significantly less as we were there for a competition which rented nearly the entire building. Still paid $150+tax per night. When I called to reserve 5 months prior I asked if there were refrigerators as my child has food allergies and I will have to have her type of foods available. Told yes, was also told Breakfast was included. Neither were true. Only some, just a few, rooms had refrigerators and it was $15 pp for breakfast. We were scheduled to stay for 5 nights. I did speak with a manager and we were able to get a refrigerator the following day. read more

I am currently staying at the Wyndham. Starting with the good points. Very nicely decorated. Pool and hot tub are set at a good temperature. Also a short drive to all the local stop. Bad points: Very poor WiFi. Normally I can sit on my iPad on YouTube for hours and never have loading time. Using the WiFi here I couldn't go 10 minutes. Some of the flattest pillows you have ever seen. They give you 4 four a kings size bed, stack all of them together for one person. Cleaning is questionable, they day I checked in, I found about a dozen long grey hairs in the room, mostly in the sink in the bathroom. read more

Very comfortable and clean rooms. Nice "upscale" decor in the lobby and dining room. Nice pool. And a great price ($149 for a larger room with two queen beds, not as good as the guy with the $52 steal, but far better than the $200/night in the crappy Comfort Inn at Hershey Park). We did not eat in the restaurant except for coffee and muffins one morning, which were good (not cheap, but typical prices for a hotel restaurant). Upon checking in, we heard a yippy annoying dog barking in the room next to us. The front desk quickly gave us a new room with no objection and quizzically said "well ... there's not supposed to be a dog there. We'll need to check that out!". I hope they kicked that yapping dog out of the building! It was annoying as heck. The only gripe I have is the gym, which was unusable for me. I tried to work out one morning and had to stop - the belts on the treadmills all slipped, the elipticals were clunky and not smooth. The Body Solid weightstack is the same one that I have at home and IMO not a good commercial quality. As far as the treadmills, I think they are a lower end and don't support us larger "athletes" at 250 lbs. The gym did have a good dumbell selection though. read more

Good hotel. Very clean and large. It's located outside of Gettysburg near a theater and a Marriott. Not much around the hotel except for an Appalachian flat bread restaurant which we didn't try. Rooms are spacious and clean. No refrigerator or microwave. Biggest disappointment was that the Wi-Fi was very spotty. Worked only about 20% of the time. honestly the hotel was decorated nicely but the first day we stayed here the pool was green and cloudy which took an awfully long time to fix. When we went back down to check it was still cloudy. The elevators were also shut down due to the transformers blowing which was a huge hassle. The next day the pool was shut down due to a leak they said it would be fixed after 25 minutes but then they said it wouldn't, due to the weather. But this took hours for people to notice as well, who simply were ready and went down there with no pool to swim in, nor a notice at the least. read more

Checked in for one night but had 3rooms. The staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, we had to change rooms because ours was not cleaned properly and trash had been left in our room on the tables. The kids used the pool and there were ants crawling over the chairs and tables. We had the buffet breakfast, 3 adults and 5 children. Total cost without tip, $ 150.00. Pricey for a buffet. Nice decor throughout the hotel but their room televisions are small like 20 inch screens! The rooms were only $80.00 because it was off season for Gettysburg tourists, March 10th. The experience was like 'Why did we stay here?' Reasons: Front desk has NO concept of customer service. They make customers wait 10 mins while being "busy" talking. This hotel was not what we expected for the ratings. We decided to surprise our girls by staying here after touring Gettysburg and we were disappointed. We checked in at 4 and the lobby was very beautiful and smelled clean and fresh. Went to our room and we were immediately unhappy. The room was very outdated for as long as the hotel was open. It didn't have that fresh clean smell that the lobby had. After we checked out the room we decided to head to the pool hot tub area. What a mistake. The pool was dingy and the hot tub felt like it was falling apart at my feet. Needless to say, we didn't stay long. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Spent the past weekend here. Thursday-Sunday. Very accommodating, beautiful, fresh and clean environment. Friendly staff all around. The restaurant was superb. The food was great, the mixed drinks were awesome, and the staff was very fun and friendly. Best waitress ever. I hate that I misplaced her name, but she was working Friday night and deserves to be acknowledged for her friendliness, her familiarity with the menu and current specials and her knowledge of the general area's events. There are very few things a hotel needs. This hotel didn't have many of them. The card to get in the room did not work at all. I got it fixed by the front desk who said I was not operating it correctly. When I got it fixed it worked few times but then getting in my room was an issue over and over again. UPDATE: I could not take the card issues any more and changed this to a one star rating. Of all the odd things to have wrong the spot I parked in was uneven and I couldn't get into the spot without intruding on one of the spots beside me. read more

One of the worst hotel experiences I've had. Super sketchy door key cards that work after about the tenth try. Phone in the room didn't work; engineering came to fix it. Doesn't hold a charge at all. My husband had to walk down to order room service. About an hour and a half we hear the phone ringing and are able to answer on speaker phone...it's room service wanting to know if we want our food yet. Now why in the world is this call necessary? After we finally feed our kids at 9:15 pm we go to make up the pull out bed. No sheets. No pillows. No blanket. Phone doesn't work so we can't call for any. Back down to the front desk where they tell us we need to call housekeeping to get the pull out bed made up. Again we don't have a working phone. So frustrating. Rooms are dated the hotel itself is just blah. Could have made a better choice in picking a place to stay for the night. read more

Customer service at this hotel is lacking. It's clean enough, I guess, but it's overpriced for the area and quality of hotel. I've stayed at much nicer hotels for less or the same cost. That being said, my problem wasn't with the price, it was the service. We stayed here on a Saturday night for the recent Blue and Gray Half Marathon happening in town the following morning as I would have expected many others staying there were too. There were weddings going on as well, but I know a lot of people were in town for the race. It also happened to snow really badly that weekend, so the race was still going to happen, but they decided to postpone it an hour to make sure the roads were clear of ice and snow for the runners. No problem, but that pushed back our checkout time from the hotel since we had planned to come back, shower and clean up after the race. We'd really have to push it to get out of there by 12pm checkout time so we just called downstairs to ask for a later checkout. It clearly states on the welcome card that you can checkout as late as 2pm, just ask. Okay so we asked. Instead we got this guest services girl who was like, "No, absolutely not. We have a full house. We aren't accepting any late check outs." My boyfriend pleaded that we were there for the race and it got postponed and, and...nope..she shut him down. Huh? I've never ever stayed at a hotel in my life that did not honor a late check request..ever. Some places charge for it and in that case, I won't do it, but if they offer them, I just ask for one and I get it. Done. Not here. Even under the extenuating circumstances. On our way out, we stopped at the front desk to ask again, hoping to get another guest services person and we did. This time, she said it was fine. I still did not get why the first girl was so adamant about not letting us check out late. As if a ton of people were going to be checking in on a Sunday? Weird. Anyway, another thing I did not like was the walls here are THIN. I could hear the television and word for word conversations from the hallways and next door. Not that I ever plan on coming to Gettysburg again in my life, but if I did, I would never stay here again. read more

We called and told them we would be there late. When we got there they gave the room away after they told us it wasn't a problem and the four of us had to stay in a room with one bed. We asked for cots which eventually arrived after a few calls. Some staff were very accommodating, some were not happy to be there. Over all, will not be going back. read more

We are from San Diego and were visiting an ill relative. When we made reservations we figured, it would just be an OK Hotel. But we were surprised. This place is spotless and is near to everything. The lobby actually has a cannon in it, and even had a beautiful Christmas tree and a electric train set that I actually enjoyed. It also has historical pictures in the lobby area. Our room was fantastic and nice and warm, for we were there from 1-8 thru 1-13-2017. Look it is not the Wynn Hotel, but we really enjoyed it. The people are so friendly and even gave us a list of all the restaurants in town. We can't say enough about this place. Our rooms were quiet, and very very clean. In the bar they make a decent drink, and the price is like most places for good scotch or bourbon. We did find it, the bar a little boring but hey it was January and not many people were there. The bartender was very polite, and the hotel even gave us a coupon for two free appetizers. Bottom line, out visit was not suppose to be fun, for visiting a relative that is ill is no great joy. But this place was really neat. We even took in a movie at the theater which is only about 100 yards from the hotel. Also very clean and they were also polite. Finally, I actually thought they made a mistake with our bill. We stayed 5 nights and had an AAA discount and it only came to $419.00. I guess because it is in the off season. We had such a great time in this area we plan to go again this March. Note, for your info we are in our early 70's but love to party. We even found an Irish pub in town that has great food and drinks. Also they have a diner in town that is kind of neat. The food iat the diner is ok, but hardly charge anything and the place is neat. We did not eat in the hotel only because we ere always on the go, so I can't tell you about their resturant. Note one night because we were drinking we even took Uber. Yes it is available here also. Our stay here was exceptional. The room was amazing, comfortable bed, a/c worked and the bathroom was clean! When we checked in the staff was nice and welcoming and when we asked about laundry facilities we were happy to hear there was a laundry room on our floor free to use!! Pool closed early due to an event, but we were told we could swim at the Marriott. Shower is a strange construction and water leaked. And the market was closed and we don't know why. Front desk person was nice..check in was quick and easy...room was clean. Beds were comfortable. I was surprised we had no mini fridge or microwave. I did call the front desk and asked for a fridge and they brought it immediately. Pool was nice except one of the pillars in the pool area was missing a corner tile and it was covered with ants...100s if them crawling around the pillar. I told a maintenance man and he thanked me and left. I was there at least another half hour and he didn't return... Had our work dinner/dance there in the evening...food was good...staff was friendly... Lovely banquet room... The morning of our departure, housekeeping knocked on our door at 8:30 AM...glad we had it latched, because she opened the door.. Yes we did not have our "do not disturb" sign out. But I think that's too early to knock on a Sunday, especially when check out isn't until 12. Went down to see what breakfast they had. We didn't eat there... Way too pricey!. For what rooms cost, breakfast should be free. At least some muffins, donuts or something...... Probably won't stay again... read more

This hotel was great. My boyfriend and I had a wedding to attend in upstate NY and didn't want to have to drive all the way back to DC on Sunday, so stopped here for a night to check out Gettysburg. The hotel seems brand new--very clean. We ended up with a not-so-nice view (but booked through a discount site, so I was fine with that). It's a very large hotel, but our room was quiet and comfortable. We were so beat the first night that we didn't want to venture far, and ended up going to an early dinner at the Appalachian Brewing Company, then going to see a movie in the theater that is in their parking lot. It wasn't RIGHT in the middle of Gettysburg, but it was easy to get to the park. Friendly employees, free wifi, free bottles of water, free parking. No obnoxious add-on fees. My girlfriend and i spent two very pleasant nights at the Wyndham. My guess is that its a fairly new hotel, the room and bathroom were very clean and modern. The best part about our experience was the service, from the moment we walked through the doors its was top notch. A worker asked to help us with our bags, the lady at the front desk allowed for us to check in early and every time we asked a question about anything in the area they were always willing to help with an answer or to do the research for us to find the answer. Our room was missing a blow dryer and after our call there was a knock on the door no more than five minutes later. There was a couple of restaurants at that location that appeared closed when we were there so the only downfall I saw was that its not really that close to anything. So you will have to drive to eat, shop, visit the battlefield and walk the town. read more
