The future is here my friends... Does the thought of drilling out cavities seem like medieval practice to anyone else? It makes me think of a time in 14th century Europe when people believed in bloodletting where a doctor would "bleed out ailments" or trepanning where they would LITERALLY bore a hole in your skull to relieve a migraine. Think about it, how different is using a drill on our teeth? It makes me want to say "GET ON IT SCIENCE! IT'S 2015! I WANT A BETTER WAY TO REMOVE CAVITIES... AND A HOVERBOARD!" Well good news on the cavities part: Wynkoop Dental has freakin lasers. I went a few years without a cavity, but when my most recent checkup found one, Dr. Chelsea said "Hey Johnny, since you're usually a whiny little girl about the drill, why don't we use a laser instead?" (DISCLAIMER: at no point did Dr. Chelsea actually call me a whiny little girl) She probably said something a bit more considerate due to the fact that I HAVE been a whiny little girl in the past. I don't remember exactly what she said because all I heard is that the future had arrived. The laser was so much easier. No pain, no smell, no crazy vibrations throughout my head, and it way faster too. read more

These ladies are wonderful and the office is beautiful! I was told by one dentist I possibly needed a root canal with a cost over $450; Dr. Chelsea reviewed my bite wings and explained their thought was way to aggressive. She found i didn't need a root canal, filled the tooth and another another and sent me on my way for less than half of the original cost. They accept the Careington Plan which was super helpful financially. I was happy I didn't have to go to a chain office. Excited to have a new dentist in downtown! read more

First I have to preface this review by disclosing that all my life I have been terrified, TERRIFIED of the dentist, any dentist. Dr. Chelsea and her staff changed that. I made the appt based on the location and that they took my insurance. I feel so lucky that I took the leap! I was having minor pain and was in need of a cleaning. Dr. Chelsea fixed a crown and her hygienist cleaned my teeth without any pain or anxiety that I have always experienced in the past. I've been a patient now for over a year, it turns out that my dental insurances was awful but was able to switch over to their in house plan and it has saved me a ton of money. I recently was having some pretty severe pain in one of my teeth and they got me in very quickly. It turns out that I only needed to have an adjustment to my bite (a quick painless filing fix). I think that there are a good number of dentists out there that would embellish the treatment to garner more fees. Dr. Chelsea is on the conservative side and I appreciate that so much. I won't bore (scare) you all with the details of how I ended up at this dental office, but suffice to say that I was more than happy with everything and everyone there, from the front desk to the hygienist to the dentist. They have great facilities, equipment and a friendly atmosphere that is matched by their professionalism and competence. I spent a short time there, but in that time, I was given great, clear photos of my teeth, a clear assessment of the state of my teeth and walked out with all of the photos, a clear understanding of next steps and even a referral for a dentist in the city to which I am moving. It's been over a year since my visit but I went to my now wonderful dentist and thought it time to leave a review. It was the worst, practically most traumatic experience I have had at dentist. Maybe even in life. Lol. I am so shocked they get so many good reviews. Especially since after my visit turns out my coworkers has similar experiences. New to town I was looking for a place heard my fellow coworkers went there so I book a cleaning. It's next to my office. First thing when I get there they tell my I won't get a cleaning and it will be just X-rays. I wasn't having it. In my thirty something odd years of life never have I booked a cleaning and had to come back and just get X-rays day one. So, no I wasn't happy. We have jobs I can't take endless amunts of time off but I digress. So they take the X-rays and after a forced cleaning by me proceed to tell me that in the next three years my teeth will fall out and I need to pay for all these sleep studies and specialized equipment (thousands of dollars I don't have) in order to stop them from falling out. All due to gum recession and my overbite. I was stunned. What?? I am almost 40 and still wear my retainer at night. I keep my teeth clean, go to my visits and I am very knowledgeable about what's going on in my mouth. I have seen a dentist and orthodontist in the last 2 years in another state no one warned me of problems. why did all of a sudden these women see what more experienced and specialized professionals did not?? I left VERY upset. Called my old dentist they laughed and said no way. I finally found a great dentist here in Colorado and they assured me my teeth are not falling out in the next three years, lol gum recession and my overbite causing some problems EVENTUALLY is a possibility and a night guard can help protect me from from eventual problems but that nothing was so serious as to me losing my teeth any time soon. To finish the story of the that day, i get back to my office super upset start talking and find out several other women had similar stuff happen. Two were told that they each had more than 8 cavities!!!! Both were smart enough to get second opinions and SHOCKER found out they had none. These girls are running a game. Saw a few reviews that support me...either they just pick and choose a few who they scam or most people on here are being sold services they don't need because they are too dumb or lazy to check it out. I never leave reviews but just left my dentist office and remembered what a real visit is like. Stay away or at minimum be an aware educated patient just because doctors, dentists and nurses tell you something doesn't mean it's gospel. Protect yourself! read more

I have been going to Wynkoop Dental since they opened. I am very pleased with the work I have received. I enjoy the pleasant atmosphere as soon as I walk in the door. Their receptionist Amy is always kind and courteous to me as well as the rest of the dental assistants. I particularly enjoy the modern, new feeling of the office and the downtown location. Dr. Stangl is always gentle and a pleasure to talk with. She listens to my concerns and offers solutions according to my needs, without pressure of having to have a certain treatment. I've been going to Wynkoop Dental for about 4 years now, so I think that's enough to write up a review on an excellent dental care provider. The office dynamic is amazing, good communication, honesty, knowledgeable, trustworthy and outstanding interaction between dentist, hygienists and office staff. It's difficult to change insurances policies of a dental plan, even more difficult to find a dentist you can trust, a dentist able to listen to you, a dentist that can see you more than a social security number with X dental plan, a real dentist with professionalism. I personally think Dr. Chelsea of Wynkoop Dental fills my checklist described above. I also believe that a good relationship dentist-patient is a share responsibility. As patients, of course we should do our part, we need to be proactive, for example: check with our dental plan provider, ask questions, be on-time for dental checks, follow treatment, be respectful and honest. I have been a patient with Wynkoop Dental for about a year now. In that time, I have only had amazing experiences with them and - as nerdy as this sounds - I get excited for my appointments. I would whole heartedly recommend Wynkoop Dental to others. I am impressed by every level of the Wynkoop Dental team. Their administrative team has always been friendly and easy to work with. I've especially enjoyed working with Erin, who has made the insurance and payment process easy to manage. My hygienist is Alton. And not only is she an amazing professional and artist with making my teeth look great - she's a joy to chat with. I've also worked with Kerstin (I hope that's how she spells her name), one of the dental assistants, when I had a root canal last month. She was so considerate in making the procedure as comfortable for me as possible. She even brought me a blanket when she saw I was cold. She also took a lot of care and detail to make sure the final result of the procedure looked and felt great. And finally, I am impressed by the warm professionalism and skill of the doctors. Dr. Chelsea consulted with me about medical options I had to replace my flipper. I was impressed by the various factors she helped me weigh, including cost. I trusted her recommendation, in that it was the best of many factors for me. And I have worked the most with Dr. Erin. She was very considerate and kind throughout my fillings. And I was so impressed with the process and end result. I will enthusiastically return to Dr. Erin for dental procedures in the future. read more

I honestly can't say enough good things about this dentist! I've a lot of issues with my teeth due to another dentist in the area, and I had so much anxiety going back to the original dentist that I decide to forego my warranty and get it fixed in Wynkoop Dental, and I'm so so happy I did. It was worth every cent. The office is so clean and the staff is super friendly. As someone with a lot of dental anxiety, they did an incredible job at making me feel comfortable and in control of the situation. They we able to numb my mouth (which in past has been really difficult) and gave me the easiest dental experience I've ever had. When I left, they had the bill ready and knew exactly how much I owed. Patient beware if your dental insurance is out of network, as was the case with mine. Wynkoop Dental failed to tell me this, which led to a $200+ charge for a cleaning and x-rays when it should have been almost fully covered. They also failed to bill me for several months and when a bill was finally mailed to my home, it simply said I was 90 days past due and that finance charges were accruing for my delinquent payment. All in all, just not a good experience, so I've cancelled my go-forward appointments and am switching dental providers. read more

It's a dentist office so you never really want to be here. Everyone at this office is very nice and professional. The whole place feels very clean and sterile without the hospital feel. I've luckily never needed any major dental work. I go in, they scrape my teeth, tell me to floss more and I walk out with a toothbrush. What more is there to say? read more

I went in for a regular cleaning and check up in February 2013. I appreciated the cleanliness and neatness of the reception room. I did not have to wait long and was taken to the back for my cleaning. An assistant performed the cleaning. I thought she was a little quick and not very thorough, but gentle. Dr. Stangl performed the check up and I thought she was professional and polite. So why the bad review you ask? Before I even scheduled my appointment, I got an estimate on my bill. Wynkoop Dental said that my insurance would completely cover my appointment. I also called my insurance company and they said I would simply have to pay a copayment. Keep in mind my appointment was in February. I received a call in June from Wynkoop Dental and they said I owed them almost $300. Quite a stretch from my copayment. I had not received any bill in the mail, but they said they had sent one. I called my insurance company, and they said there was never a claim filed. My insurance company said they most likely filed the claim incorrectly and was not processed due to their mistakes. I called Wynkoop back and asked them to refile the claim. In July, I got a voicemail from Amy at Wynkoop. It was very threatening and she said she was going to turn me into the collections agency if she did not receive payment within a week. I have NEVER received ANY bill from Wynkoop. I called my insurance company and they said there still were no claims filed. I called Amy back at Wynkoop and asked her how it's logical to expect payment when they've never billed me, nor filed a claim. I asked her to once again refile the claim. Later that day, I got a call from my insurance company saying that the claim was being processed finally. I called Amy at Wynkoop and asked her to call me once the claim was processed. It is one month later and Amy still hasn't called me back. However, I did receive a call reminding me to get my 6-month cleaning. I called my insurance company and they said the claim was processed many weeks ago and I do not owe $300 like Amy said, but I just need to pay a small copayment. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY BILL FROM WYNKOOP. I can't believe they would call me for my cleaning, but not call me like I asked to keep me informed on my bill. I think their receptionists are rude, and Amy was rude for threatening to call the collections agency, especially when I've never received a bill, and they filed the claim incorrectly. This has been a 6 month battle all over a very small copayment that I still haven't paid because I have yet to receive a bill. I do not think it is up to the patient to harp on the company to be able to pay them. I will never go back there after such a display of rudeness by their receptionists, namely Amy, and after such a huge ordeal over a small copayment. read more

Every time I go here I tell myself that I won't go back again. It's not major issues but there is something every time that leaves me walking out shaking my head with a bad experience. Overall, it seems to be a really average dental place trying to portray otherwise. Both dentists together probably have less than 10 years experience in professional practice (or 5?). The customer service is pretty poor (past few years and current.) During the most recent visit, the dental hygeniest was good. I have had a bit of dental work in my life so I think I can fairly assess that this place is only 2 out 5. But I do keep coming back since its relatively close to work and I get a discount with my insurance. I would move if I found the same elsewhere, and might anyway. read more

wynkoop dental ~ quite lovely really. first off i must say it's rather difficult to find a good dentist when you work and live downtown. needless to say i was stoked when i received the wynkoop dental flyer in the mail. i typically find a dentist near my work since it's easier for me to go at lunch time. i'm thrilled to have finally found the perfect location/dentist for good! the staff is helpful and friendly, which i find a refreshing rarity these days. the office manager, amy, is on top of her game. she helped answer all my questions and allowed me to book my appointments via email, a must for me with my limited availability. she even took the time to fill out some of the required office forms with the info she already received from my emails. gotta love when folks take the initiative! dr. chelsea and her assistant were wonderful. taking the time to talk me through my xrays (digital :which i loved) and made sure to address each area i had concerns about. both ladies were gentle and thorough. dr. chelsea is *incredibly* knowledgeable. Erin 'Dr Cherry' is a blessing to my household. My 3 year old daughter had some pretty traumatic dental work early on in her life. Needless to say, she has been very cautious of any dental procedures or checkups....... until she met Ms Erin! After going to another dentist across the street that relied on scare tactics to sell you questionable procedures not covered by insurance, Wynkoop Dental is a breath of fresh air. Everyone from the front desk/billing, hygienists, and dentist were friendly, accommodating, and took their time to explain. The dentist recommended a reasonable treatment plan to fix some issues, but explained it in detail and why she thought it was the best approach. The appointments were on time, and scheduling follow up was easy. I don't have the best teeth, but they didn't make me feel embarrassed. I recently moved from DC and was really nervous about finding a new dentist in town - both because I loved my dentist in DC and because I have some dental issues (three root canals in the last two years). Anyway, I ended up putting off a dentist visit for too long and had to go to Wynkoop Dental for an emergency treatment. I saw Dr. Erin and was super pleased with how the treatment went. Dr. Erin talked to me like an adult, answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly and overall just had a great bedside manner. The office is also really nice - tons of light and the chairs face the Cherry Creek bike path. My only gripe is that the front desk staff seemed a bit disorganized - I had to fill out the new patient paperwork twice (the first copy was lost) and then they sent me another request for it when I scheduled a regular check-up. Overall, it's a very minor "minus" where dentists are concerned, as the quality of the treatment itself was superb. read more

I switched to Wynkoop after a rough experience with another dentist in town and the new experience was quite different. At Wynkoop I felt like Dr. Cherry was very upfront with me and she answered all my questions. She didn't treat me like a kid (she explained everything and bore with me despite all my questions). As she explained things to me, I felt like I knew what I needed as far as dental work and why, it made me feel very comfortable especially when talking about payments and value. I really like the dentist and the hygienists that work at Wynkoop Dental. The downtown location is great, and the chairs face the creek trail providing a lovely view. They give you sunglasses to wear while they work on your teeth (finally a solution to that horrible bright light), and all of their tools are top of the line (and clean)! The routine visits take longer than they should - plan to be there for at least an hour - that's probably my biggest complaint. If I make an appointment, I expect to be seen at that time, not 15-25 minutes later. Also, their plaque picking tool makes the world's worst noise - if the sound of dental drilling scares you, this will damn near kill you. Still a fan! read more

Wynkoop Dental and Dr. Chelsea were incredibly helpful when we found out our 5 day old son needed some help in order to eat. The staff was super friendly and helpful in getting an appointment on short notice. When Dr. Chelsea was told about our situation, she came in on her day off to help us. The procedure was quick, the staff was friendly and reassuring, and we now have a boy that loves to eat. I can't say enough about our experience with Wynkoop Dental. I am new to the Denver area and it was hard to find a good dentist in a city where I don't know many people. I read the reviews online and thought to give it a try. I am really impressed. The staff, hygienist, and the dentist were all kind and professional. Previously, I have had dentists who were horrible (I even reported a couple of past dentists to state dental boards due to shady practices). Wynkoop Dental did NOT try to get me to buy teeth whitening, did NOT try to get me to pay for a procedure/several procedures I do not need, and did NOT corner me into the billing department to tell me I owe 10x more than I originally came for. They are absolutely amazing, and I couldn't be happier with the treatment and experiences I've had there. The staff is wonderful, especially Alton. The best dental hygienist ever -- extremely knowledgable and great at what she does, but also so sweet. Like a friend you've known for years. And she's always making sure you're doing okay and feeling comfortable. My dentist is Dr. Erin Cherry who is another amazing part of the staff. She explains things thoroughly and clearly, and again, so wonderful to talk to. She does an excellent job at making you feel comfortable being there as well. They keep to your appointments and never make you wait. The office is so modern and pristine. The music is young and trendy. I honestly can't say enough good things about them. I just finished up a treatment plan with Dr. Chelsea today. She replaced an old crown that had been bothering my gums for years. The last 3 dentists I had seen (back in Ohio) told me there was nothing wrong. She took the time to listen to my concerns and already my gum looks and feels 100 times better. Everyone at the office is amazing, Vanessa is a great assistant and Amy has offered to help me sort out my insurance this fall when my company has open enrollment for benefits. It's great to see a new(ish) business take off; you can tell that Dr. Chelsea and her staff will be very successful. While I like the practice, location, doctor and atmosphere in the practice I was recently very disappointed in billing practices surrounding a procedure I had. After providing all insurance info and requesting an estimate in writing, I was presented with an amount due at the time of service more than DOUBLE the estimate I had previously received. I paid it unhappily and went on my way. Later that month, I received another bill in the mail for double the amount that I had already paid (more than 4 times the amount that I was originally quoted!) and rather than admitting their error and working with me on an adjusted amount, the practice continually sent bills, charged interest and refused to work with me on a reduced amount of the bill following their error. I have near perfect credit and no unpaid bills other than this ridiculous request from Wynkoop Dental. I too work in healthcare and know that if the company I work for had made an error of this magnitude, we would have worked with the patient for a mutually agreeable resolution. Bottom line, I feel that this practice has an extreme disregard for their patients and only is concerned with their pocketbook. I will not be back nor would I recommend it to anyone else. Businesses should not be able to treat their patrons like this. read more

It has been 4 years of wonderful service and care. I have never had a bad experience. I have recommended several friends and coworkers and they all say they are completely satisfied too. I very much appreciate the estimates they send prior to service. For anyone upset with their estimates, I would certainly look closer at your insurance and not at the dentist. I recently discovered the restrictions insurance puts on visits throughout the year. Take a close look at these rules through your insurance before scheduling! Telling you what you want to hear with out being transparent with cost and insurance. When I left the office I was under the impression that I would not owe anything.
