"Com tam" translated means broken rice and it's my favorite Vietnamese food dish. I tried this location as I was in the neighborhood and the prices are very reasonable considering how much food you get. I got the Special with extra veggie and at it all. The space is small and there was a wait at 1:30 pm on a Saturday but I left fueled for the rest of my day. Please come and create your own adventure.
Tried the new location. Still good but I liked the food truck more. Broken rice with grilled pork. Pork was just ok to me. I wanted more char flavor. Egg loaf was a bit small. Free tea is legit I'll say. Overall decent spot but it didn't hit like the truck
A nice addition to the Bolsa Mini Mall! I never got the chance to try out the food from their food truck, but I assume that it's fairly similar. The menu offers a range of both broken rice dishes and different types of pho. I'm not a huge fan of the BBQ pork chop, but I assume that they allow substitutions. They also have a bunch of extras so you can basically create your broken rice plate if you don't like their set options. The prices are pretty close to competitors', and the portions are decently sized. Each rice plate is given 2 BBQ pork chops, whereas other locations only give you 1, so we definitely had to share. * Cơm Tấm Sườn Bì Chả Tàu Hủ Ky: 9/10 - everything was tasty * Cơm Sườn Bò Đại Hàn Trứng: 9/10 - egg was a nice addition but wish it didn't have such a long wait time * Thịt Xiên Nướng (3 Cây): 10/10 - meat was juicy and tender We had to add our names to the waiting list when we first arrived, but it only took about 10 minutes for them to call our name. The workers were very kind and attentive when we got seated and almost immediately took our order. They were also consistently refilling our cups with free herbal tea which we really appreciated! The restaurant is definitely on the smaller size, and I was actually surprised that they were able to fit so many tables in such a small space. It's located at the Bolsa Mini Mall, so parking will definitely be difficult at peak times and on the weekends. Keep in mind, however, that there are no public restrooms, unfortunately! Nevertheless, very tasty!
I'm so happy I got to check out the storefront for lunch. The location looks great with ample tables inside and outside patio. The staff is super friendly and I have to say they have great customer service. We ordered to go and the food was done so quickly. The pork chops are marinated to perfection and the smoky meat was so tender. There's a good amount of rice and pickled vegetables. I'll definitely be back soon!
Discovered Xe Com Tam VH via an Instagram Reel a few weeks ago and had to check them out during my trip home! They now have two Brick & Mortar Locations (Westminster and Fountain Valley) and closed the truck location. I ordered the Speciality Rice Plate and got the Pork Chop plate for my Dad. The meat was absolutely delicious and had that beautiful charred smell! The portions were absolute ginormous, I believe each plate can be shared amongst two averagely hungry people. Each order came with a side of soup and a complimentary Nuoc Mat drink. Each plate was about $15 each, absolutely delicious while bang for your buck. Definitely recommend!
Food is super yummy, especially the com tam is excellent, from fish sauce to grilled pork chop is well marinated The Service is a bit slow which is not a big issue for me, due to the restaurant was packed, and togo order from doordash and phone keeping coming in. This was actually my first time having com tam from a food truck, and overall I was very satisfied with the meal. The portion size was huge, which, to be fair, is pretty standard for com tam. The meat itself was flavourful and tender. Price-wise, it was a little higher than what you'd typically pay at a brick-and-mortar restaurant. That said, I feel like that's pretty common with food trucks these days given the operating costs, so no complaints there. The real standout for me was the nuoc mat, which I think might be the best nuoc mat I've had anywhere in little Saigon.
I had the com tam here, all the meats, the egg cake, the pickled veggies and even the soup was really good, but I probably had the worst tau hu ky I have ever had. It tasted old, the tofu skin on the outside was rubbery and the filling inside tasted old, for that I had to take out a star because I do believe tai hu ky is one of the main components that makes a completed com tam dish. But again everything tasted amazing.
Xe Com Tam VH (VH Broken Rice Truck) serves the BEST COM TAM/BROKEN RICE! Com Tam Thành was my all time favorite... but this truck has been around since February 2024. I remember seeing them at Garden Grove Park and they were having specials on their #2- Com Tam Suon Bi Cha, broken rice with pork chop, shredded pork skin, and pork egg cake. The plate also comes with pickled veggies to balance out all of the meat. I have since gone to them about five times. You can find their promos on their Facebook page. They currently have a promo until 3/31/26 where their #2 entree is only $11 ($2 off)! All entrees come with FREE nuoc mat (cold herbal sweetened tea). Their NEW LOCATION: 15084 Weststate St, Westminster, CA 92683 (Off Bolsa and Magnolia, next to 168 Kho Bo near Asian Garden Mall) I forgot to take a recent photo of the food, but their portion sizes have increased. The plate is HUGE and they give you a giant pork chop and a fluffy pile of broken rice. I've also gotten the #7- 3 pork skewers $13. It's a little small, but grilled to perfection, with a smoky flavor. DO NOT get the tau hu ky (fried shrimp cake) $5. It is pricey for the size, and when you get it at restaurants, it's 100% shrimp paste. Here, it is mixed with pork. Flavor is good, but not authentic and it was burnt the last time I got it. :( Service is quick and you can order on their Instagram page @vhcatering_ or you can place a phone order with them. Food was absolutely delicious and authentic. When my friend told me that there's a com tam food truck, I was skeptical tbh. It made me think it's probably one of those modern places catered to non-Viets but I was wrong! The meat was not only tender and superbly seasoned, I got 2 big pieces! For $15, that's amazing. The cha was alright to me, I've had better because it was pretty bland to me. I was pleasantly surprised to see dua chua in the veggies, so that was new. Would stop by again :)

I was driving by when the smell of the grill hit me--even two blocks away I had to turn around. I didn't think twice. The service was surprisingly fast and super friendly, and the food... honestly 10/10. They even gave me a free handmade drink, which was such a nice surprise. You have to come back and try all the grilled meats--it's like having a backyard BBQ without the work. It tastes homemade but it's ready in minutes. Definitely one of those hidden gems you're glad you found! read more
If you're looking for huge portions with great flavor, give them a shot. I really enjoy their com tam here as it's one of the better quality spots in the area. Their special has everything you would need in a com tam dish and it's huge for the prices! I've been back twice and it's still delicious. read more

My recent visits were kinda frustrating. The wait was around 15 mins, which is longer than usual & i only ordered 1 item. Ppl came after me, placed their order, got their stuff were long gone & still nothing came up on my order. If this is their new norm then i don't think i'll come back since there's a place closer to my house. I prefer their truck coz they're quick & easy. But now? I don't know anymore read more

Serving Com Tam on the truck, that's some new type shit. Charcoal grilled pork that's that yummy type shit. Just a hungry slime running through the food type shit. You know the food is good when I have to take all my friends here. Like that, the cycles continues on through the word of mouth. We used to eat at Com Tam Thanh, but after trying this spot, I gotta say the food here really tastes like authentic Vietnamese food that you would eat in the streets of Saigon. I think the concept is interesting and different to have it served out from the food truck. The pork chops and the beef skewers are very juicy and tender. I like the seasoning on the meat. Each meal comes with a bowl of soup and a free sweet iced tea. The owner there was kind of enough to give me a free refill even though it cost $3. Thank you for the good service. Outside there are tables and chairs setup. Honestly, you can bring cups and play beer pong if you were a menace. There's also a view of the park. That day we came there was an outdoor volleyball game so it was fun to eat and watch. Just great vibes. I understand that it might be dirty because they are cooking the meat outside which can be unsanitary, but I'm pretty sure they do make an effort to be clean. Plus it's cool to see your food getting cooked. You know that's it's legit. Best believe this is my new fav spot. People come thru and support the locals. I came with my husband to find out no more stamp card so that sucked. To top it off, I don't eat any type of onions and even asked to take it off but they didn't...My Com Tam Amigo didn't even skewers but they gave an extra meat, which its all fat, so I'm not even eating it..At least could have replaced it with lap xuong instead of charging us another $3. Very disappointed in the lady there. Usually when I go, it's a guy and I believe he would have been more understanding, who knows. 1. The meat was definitely grilled nicely, and it goes well with all the sides! 2. The food truck has fun casual vibes as it is located at a park! 3. There were about 9 outdoor tables! 4. Was at the Garden Grove park and saw this food truck on Atlantis Way. There were people waiting in line. The truck serves Vietnamese food especially broken rice. The menu has vermicelli, crab soup with century egg, eggrolls and other items including drinks. I got the # 2 which has broken rice, grilled pork chops, egg casserole, shredded pork and picked veggies with cucumber and tomato plus fish sauce. I also got the crab soup and skewer of grilled pork. You also get a complimentary herbal drink with each order. You can see a staff grilling the mear at the back end of the truck. I was there at 12 pm and the tables and chairs were not out. I think they put it out after 5 or at 6 pm for the dinner crowd. I didn't inquire about their hours of operation but saw on IG they open at 10 am till late. Verdict, it was delish. I was very pleased with the crab soup. They don't skimp on the com tam portions. Everything I received was fresh and delicious. I would definitely go back when craving com tam or the crab soup. Forgot to take pictures of the food cuz I was too hungry and devoured it. I like that the pork is grilled and it's not oily as the restaurants. They accept cash or Zelle. Food truck currently located at the parking lot of My Thuan supermarket on the corner of Magnolia & Westminster. I thoroughly enjoyed my com tam with the grilled pork, egg cake, egg, and pickled veggies. Service was quick & friendly. Rice comes with a drink; I am not sure what it is but it's some iced and sweet refreshing drink. Stamp card loyalty program. Ambiance is whatever you make of it as this is a food truck. read more

Quick and fast food truck. The bbq flavor on the suon nuong is flavorful and good. The pork chop (suon) could be a little bit thicker but this place is a good option and it was only $13. You also get a small free sweetened ice tea. My only wish they had a cheaper option to include tofu skin vs buying it as a side for $4. read more

Frauds, I came to use my stamp card that has 9 out of 10 stamps to get one free and they said that promo ended. While there was nothing on the card that stated that. They could've at least honored it since I was on my 10th one. Will never be returning. read more

Broken rice at the park?? Sounds like an odd concept, but it works! I was at Garden Grove Park on a Saturday for a friend's birthday gathering and spied a yellow food truck with CƠM TẤM proudly displayed on the side. When it comes to comfort foods, Cơm Tấm ranks pretty high up there for me: who doesn't like fluffy mounds of broken rice served with savory meat? VH Catering has that covered, on the go! I got The Special Plate (Cơm Tấm Đặc Biệt) for $15, which comes with BBQ Pork Chop, a Beef Rib, Egg Cake, and Fried Egg. While I am not a consumer of egg (or at least any egg I can taste in my food), the value proposition of everything else included in the meal was too great for me to pass up. Served with pickled vegetables, a small soup, and a small iced Sugarcane Juice (Nước Mía), it's a substantial lunch from a random food truck in the park. While I'm sure a brick and mortar location (which they apparently just opened in Fountain Valley called Phở VH on Talbert & Magnolia) probably ensures the food is slightly better, the quality, portions, and value certainly make it worth stopping by the truck. All of the meats were seasoned well, with a smoky flavor, and the broken rice was heaped on in abundance. If you're ever in the Bolsa Grande High School area and looking for a quick and delicious bite, the Cơm Tấm Truck is as good a choice as any. As of this writing there's a Yelp check-in deal for a can of soda... add that to your meal and it's more than a great bang for buck lunch deal! read more

Every time I spot a food truck, I feel a sense of intrigue, wonder, and giddiness. What are they offering? What is their specialty? How do they fashion together these dishes with the confined limits of their truck? These are the things my brain is riddled with as I approach one. This wonder is how I felt as I approached the VH Catering/ Com Tam food truck. Parked directly across the Garden Grove Park on 13979 Atlantis Way, you'll find this fluorescent, yellow truck, which specializes in Cơm tấm (or Vietnamese Broken Rice), glinting in the dark veil of the evening. If its paint isn't enough, you'll notice the Cơm Tấm truck simply because of the tantalizing aroma billowing from the worker barbecuing pork chops from the attached trailer. As they should, their menu focuses on just their specialty, broken rice dishes, along with a small selection of sides, small bites (egg rolls, skewers, etc.), and drinks. NOTE: Don't forget to do your Yelp check-in for a free soda. For my visit, the customer service seemed fine. The cashier didn't communicate a bunch, but she took my order without issue and even offered all of us a complimentary sugarcane drink while we waited. I picked up the Cơm tấm đặc biệt (The Special Plate) for $15. Usually with food trucks, they tend to be overpriced for what you get, but, here, I felt I got a great value for what I paid. My plate was fully loaded with several pieces of deliciously grilled pork, a mound of broken rice, the egg and pork cake/meatloaf, over medium egg on top, and pickled veggies. They also provide a side of soup, fish sauce, and pork floss. I am happy that they did a terrific job of my favorite Vietnamese dish. The appeal of broken rice is the range of textures and flavors you get when you mix all of it together. It's the dance between the smoky, marinated, salty flavors of the pork with the tangy bite of pickled veggies, followed by the richness of the egg cake. My mouth salivates at the thought of it. Open from 10 AM until midnight all week, you can conveniently grab this yummy meal whenever the mood strikes. Let me know if you give them a shot. read more

The yellow food truck located next to Westminster Park. It's hidden down the street. It reminded of Vietnam with the tables and stools outside to eat on. I also really like that they open late until 11 PM. We came on a Monday around 10:30 PM and they were sold out of a lot of things, so come earlier. We ordered the Com Tam Plate and the Fresh Crab Soup. The food was so reasonably priced and Com Tam Suon Plate was delicious. The pork chop was flavorful and moist. The Fresh Crab Soup came with a century egg and was filled with quail eggs/ crab and shrimp. They even give you a free side soup and sweet herbal tea. Def a must try! Been eye balling this food truck for a good while now when it use to be posted up by Bolsa Grade. Recently seen them post up by Stater Bros on magnolia and since I had to make a stop I finally gave it a shot. I ordered the com tam dac biet (the special plate), it came with soup, plus a small free drink. And wow, I don't know why I waited so long to try this food truck. Wish I tried it sooner. I enjoyed everything, and I'll def return back! Looking forward to trying other items in the menu! read more

Food was more than enough and I was in utter disbelief that there was lemon grass ribs under the huge bbq pork steak that was on top with the fried over easy egg. Super fast, super convenient and they give you a stamp card. There was not seating and it's basically a food to go spot. I would totally eat there with friends if they had seating. Maybe they didn't have it out yet? But all the orders were mostly Togo like mine was. I got the com tam dac biet which was the best choice! Highly recommend it. A delightful Vietnamese cuisine, served from a mobile food truck. That is what Xe Com Tam VH is all about. The food truck itself exhibits a high standard of cleanliness and meticulous organization. The staff is exceptionally courteous, prompt, and provides excellent service. The flavors rival those of a sit-down establishment. We ordered #2 and #3, three orders of the Sup Mang Cua and an order of squid. The portions were generous at reasonable prices. Every dish was bursting with authentic Vietnamese flavors. They operate daily from 10:00am to midnight, or until they sell out. A must-visit dining destination! A concealed neighborhood treasure on wheels. What are you waiting for? So come on by.
