Well, I'd *LIKE* to watch all those shows, but if I can't fast forward thru the commercials without the DVR FREAKING OUT and skipping to the END of the program every time I fast forward more than 2-3 commercials, I'm going to have to give you up, NBC. Never have I ever interacted with a more incapable, idiotic, and inconsiderate corporation in my life. It is my personal opinion (and probably that of many others), that Comcast's mission statement is to make every customer's life a living hell. Let me tell you MY hellish story: two months ago I moved and so painfully sat on the phone with 5 consecutive comcast cronies for THREE hours while they attempted to transfer my services to my new address. 30 minutes in, I notice my internet has stopped working and low and behold, Comcast has shut down my services on the spot without even asking when I was looking to transfer them in the first place. Two hours later, I was finally able to regain connection, and the idiots on the other end of the phone were able to schedule and complete my transfer. Two months later... I notice Comcast has been auto-billing me for both my OLD address, and my NEW address. At the same time. Even though I made it VERY clear that I was moving and services would be transferred on a specific date. Oh no, that was way too hard for any of the 12 people I spoke to to figure out. And so, here I am, locked into overpaying a cable-wifi bureaucracy, with zero ability to counter their all-prevailing incapable corporation. Well, maybe I hit them on the off day which turned out to be quite on, but I was very impressed with the friendly, hard working and sociable folks working here on Saturday. They helped me with my equipment return, helped me pay my last $12.18, asked me how my day was, smiled and the only thing that I could really find fault with was the temperature in the place. It was really toasty which is what I would imagine might make people testy and irritable. I know it would make me a bit pithy. I wish I could give negative 10 stars. Hands down, this is the most fraudulent, ineffective, and unethical company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I hope that there is a huge class action lawsuit against them. I wish I knew how to initiate that. Our internet service has not worked for almost as long as we have had it. The horrible service started with an initial charge for a "rented" modem on my bill. I called and said I did not rent a modem and they said to remove the charge I would have to bring my receipt to a Comcast store and PROVE that the modem was mine. Turned out Comcast didn't even provide the brand of modem that we had... After several months/years of internet constantly fading in and out and at least 10-20 calls with the rote, scripted, feckless technicians, we reached a supervisor (after being put on hold for literally 1 hr 44 minutes) who admitted the issue was that Comcast has oversold their service for the infrastructure in the area and that when a lot of people were online, we wouldn't get service. It improved for a little while after that. Comcast also sent a technician to our house who basically confirmed it wasn't anything to do with our hardware, and it was their infrastructure. They charged us $70 for that visit. They said even if it's their infrastructure problem, outside of your house, any time a technician goes out, they charge the consumer - it's their policy. That seems fraudulent! I called again when it got to a point where internet would not stay on for more than 2 minutes at a time. I spent 3 hours on the phone and was transferred, literally, to 13 different people. At one point, a guy said the only way they could help me was if I gave him my credit card number right now and paid 79.95. I was very reluctant but did it. I was then transferred to a technician who said that they couldn't help me unless I paid another 129.95. I said I didn't want to authorize the 129.95. I was transferred to billing. Billing said they could not refund my 79.95 under no circumstances. They said even if their sales person misrepresented the services, I consented by giving my credit card, even though the 79.95 service would not help me. They said it was non refundable, no matter what. Egregious, unethical, fraudulent CRIMINAL!!! It appears to be a losing battle. Moral is - don't EVER give them your credit card number, ever, not even to verify your account. EVER. I wish they didn't have a monopoly. A company like this should be put out of business and it's corporate policy makers put in jail. read more

Note: this is not necessarily a review of the Comcast office on Portrero, this is more about Comcast service in general. All I want is internet service. Comcast wants to con you into getting a bundle with cable TV and phone service. I can stream TV over the Internet and I already have a cell phone service. Comcast offered me a six month introductory service with Internet and TV (basic as hell) for a reasonable price. They had a tech come over (for a second appointment, since they flaked out on the first appointment). He plugged in the cable modem into my wireless router (which took five seconds and is something that I could easily have done, since I already set it up). They charged $100 for a wireless setup fee. I called and complained. They offered me $50 off. I agreed. They never took the $50 off! Six months later, they doubled the monthly service fee. I called to get rid of the cable TV bundle and lower my internet speed. They said it would cost the same as the bundle. Eff Comcast!! I'm switching to Monkeybrains.net Monkeybrains.net does have a pricy setup fee ($250), but it's only $35/month after that. For the lady who had Comcast "cable tv" you may be happy with service because cable tv is a lot more forgiving than internet, which most of the modern world is using to view media (streaming, Netflix,etc. via internet). I have been with Comcast for more than 20 years, and was one of the people who beta tested Comcast internet in fremont when they first rolled out. I currently have 5 accounts that I manage a multiple properties and on a scale of 1-10 for technical experience, I'm probably a 9.5. Ever since they rolled out Blast the new higher speed internet, reliability has been EXTREMELY unreliable. Service often freezes, slows to a snails pace, and then disconnects for about an hour each week. The fact that the network self heals, means it's not my equipment (which by the way I have replaced every piece of equipment, had techs come down 1/2 dozen times just on one property certifying lines and yet the problems still exists. I suspect they are too eager to "beat" ATT and Dish selling high speeds but what they forget is reliability trumps speed any day. Customer service is usually in mexico or phillipines and they are basically helpless. Techs and their supervisors don't give a S@@T. Local offices in san jose and san ramon should have all their slow lazy DMV quality employees fired for incompetence and lack of customer service. I would give these guys a -5 if yelp allowed. I wanted to add an internet package and they wanted to charge me 50 bucks to have someone come out and plug it into my wall. Remember what waiting at the DMV was like 20 years ago? You can relive that experience right here at Comcast on Potrero street! How's that for nostalgia?! This is the second time I've had to exchange my shoddy remote control for a new one, so I came prepared with my ipod and comfortable shoes to stand in line obediently. Take heed to these preparations before you come here. You will thank me later after you have had to stand in line for 45+ minutes. Although there were at least 8 service counters, only 3 employees were available and the customer line had 30+ people. Once at the counter, service was fairly quick and not unfriendly. I only wish they would actually employ more staff and provide a bench along the wall for people to sit while they wait if they choose to do so. For such a busy location, they really need to make some customer service improvements in efficiency. Take my advice, do what you can with Comcast over the phone or online and treat your equipment well and don't drop the remote on the ground constantly. Comcast recently alerted me that I was "excessively using" my 10Mbps cable high speed Internet connection, and if I didn't "cut back" my usage, they would disconnect me without warning for 12 months. However, they refused to 1) admit they have a bandwidth cap, 2) tell me what their non-existent bandwidth cap is, 3) tell me how much bandwidth I actually used (in Gigabytes), and 4) how much bandwidth I was over their non-existent bandwidth cap. Nonetheless, I was "abusing" something that at the time of purchase was described as "unlimited." I then tried to switch to Astound, but found out that the Board of Supervisors of our great city had essentially granted Comcast a monopoly for cable high speed Internet, and my only other choice was the inferior speeds of AT&T DSL. Yeah, the same company that illegally taps the Internet and phone usage of its customers and funnels it to the National Security Agency. My only dream now is that we demand choice and free (as in speech, not beer) access to the great series of tubes in the sky, rise up as one, and slay the beast that is Comcast. read more

OMG much drama! At about midnight last night, my ethernet plug died. Picture me with no crimper, going through an entire box of rj45 plugs using only manicure tools. Yes. Surprisingly this did not work! And now it's 5 in the morning. Fast forward to 9 am. I'm on the phone with comcast. "Help" I say, "I can't get online!!". "Have no fear fair lady, we will send you a tech at 2 pm today. Get some sleep!" says the wonderful guy in an office somewhere far away. So I pass out. At 2 pm, I get a call from a tech who tells me he's outside my building in his truck. "Ring the bell and I'll let you in" I suggest hopefully. 20 minutes go by. Nothing happens. I call the guy. "Ohhh I had to leave, my supervisor called me and he had something really important I had to do". What!!!!! Wait..you were here. It takes 90 seconds to switch an rj 45 if you have the right tools, and you left??? "Yes, but no worries, we're sending someone out tomorrow". Oh fucking A, you did not just say that. So I spent the entire day on the phone with comcast, using my hard and fast rule, when one phone center person does not help your issue, hang up (politely, they keep notes!) and get another person. I spent 3 solid hours holding, dialing, punching 1, 2, or 3, pleading, demanding, threatening, and generally making a pest of myself and at 6:30 pm, a tech showed up and fixed my cord. Plus they are supposedly giving me $20 for the missed appointment. Man, I hear ATT calling my name. Yes they did fix it, and it's not even really their job. And the guy who did show up was a great guy. But, what grief. You can bet the minute I got online I ordered a crimper and another box of plugs. I should mention this is a specially made cord that runs the whole length of my apartment, installed along the baseboards, and could not easily be replaced. That's why the bfd. Yea, their commercials are funny, but Comcast Digital Voice SUCKS ASS!!! Comcast forced me to get their digital voice phone service when I moved into my new apartment 6 months ago in order to receive a cheap-ish package. Without the phone service, my package would have cost $10 more a month. So, I figured why the hell not I'm never going to use it anyways. Well, the stupid bloody phone hasnt worked properly since the day they installed it and has turned out to be a huge headache!!! Its such bullshit. I've called and emailed about it numerous times- there is never a dial tone, just blank nothing when you pick the phone up. I mean, if you're going to force me to have this, at least make the damn thing work! The main reason I want it to work is so that I can call Yellow Cab from my land line and press 1, and they'll just automatically send a cab to my address. I cant do that with my cell- I have to sit on hold for 15 minutes. Every time I try and contact Comcast about it, they tell me they're working on it and nothing ever gets done. Finally the other day I spoke with an actual intelligent human being that works for Comcast and she told me to press a little button on the back of my modem that says "reboot EMTA" and that should fix it. Well, what do you know- it fucking fixed the problem. Those stupid morons could have told me that the FIRST 8 TIMES I called- but NOOO! If I thought that my Yelp review could actually phase these corporate hounds I would give them a negative 10 stars. Let me start by saying that I was going to switch to comcast because my service with att was spotty. I had a hard time streaming movies and kept getting bumped off. So after hearing that comcast was faster and more reliable I switched. The guy came on a friday and set everything up fine, but then 2 days later after canceling att I had no service (phone, internet, and cable). I call comcast monday morning and sure they can send a guy tomorrow. I say okay what is my window. Oh ma'am its an all day appointment, but he'll call 30 minutes before he arrives. No call no show. Call them back tuesday night. Ask to speak to a manager get disconnected. call back. Oh I think someone came and did something outside, but now we need to send a specialist so he'll be there tomorrow (wed) all day time window. I ask if this guy could call so I could be sure to be home. yes. I call them four times through out the day on Wed and the eta is 7pm. I say really 7 pm. okay the manager assures me that someone will be there and will fix it this evening. 6:30 I see a comcast van on my street as I'm walking back from the corner store - hey I say you here for my house? Nope. drives off. 7:30 no call no show. I call back speak to a manager and they say I'm so sorry, but our technicians only work between 8am-6pm. WTF. Why did the last manager tell me my guy was coming at 7? Must have been a mistake. I go a bit ape sh*% then calmly she says I'm sorry ma'am but our next available appointment is friday (in two days) would you prefer morning or afternoon. you've got to be kidding - cancel my service I'll return to crap, but at least it's something. so for 6 days I have no internet and I run a business from my home. ridiculous. I lost money and business because of their incompetence and the best I get in return is AT&T. So bummed that we only have two crappy options here. LAME!!! read more

Their Internet services were used for 1 week. After a much better non-contract based offer was found Comcast was called and a disconnect was placed. Since the cancelling Comcast has called my contact number twice a day Monday - Friday in an attempt to regain my business. After speaking with two representatives and asking both times that my number be removed I continue to recieve sales calls. Not only do they require bloatware to be installed on your machine to complete the install of their Internet services they fail to recognize poor customer service by continually calling former customers. This tactic of hounding you post service drop is not only time consuming it is very childish. Let your service speak for itself. Can you give a business NO STARS on yelp??? First of all: Fuck Comcast. 2ndly, these guys are SUPER SCAM ARTISTS. 3rd: oh yeah, Fuck Comcast. I signed up for basic internet service through Verizon when I got my iphone 7 months ago. At no point in time did the Verizon rep mention that my $36 per month internet service would continue to increase month after month after only 3 months of service! Yep, after 3 months our bill climbed to roughly $48 per month depending on whether or not they were tacking on SNEAKY SURCHARGES. Funny thing is, the Comcast reps are "positive" the bill should not have increased before 6 months of use. Well that's weird, CAUSE IT DID. Now at the 7 month mark my bill has reached an infuriating $69 PER MONTH! Also, get this... there was a DOUBLE CHARGE for leasing a modem (Two $8 fees that have 2 separate names to confuse the consumer) and EVERY MONTH I get slapped with a $6 service fee for paying my ridiculous bill over the phone because THE COMCAST WEBSITE NEVER RECOGNIZES MY PHONE #, SS#, OR BILLING ADDRESS therefore FORCING me to leave the website and pay over the phone. The only decent thing I can say about this company is that after several monthly phone calls to question and dispute the bill I have FINALLY been granted a month to month agreement which has given me to freedom to cancel my service early without being charged the $150+ SERVICE CANCELATION FEE. How Comcast receives more than one star from anyone is a complete mystery to me. I've never used the cable-TV service, but we've had Comcast as our high-speed-Internet provider for almost five years. I've tried to switch to DSL, but there's permanent interference to our phone lines, so Comcast truly is our only option. And what a horrible option it is. Comcast is the only company I know of that can get away with service this bad. We often lose our Internet connection. And by often, I mean at least a few times a week. Is cable Internet really that difficult to provide? I can count on one hand the number of times I've lost landline phone service. So why can't Comcast get its act together? The answer is They don't have to. They have a protected monopoly in San Francisco, and until we get a city-run and -operated wireless service, we're going to have to suffer Comcast's crappy services every day. I won't even go into Comcast fighting against network neutrality or its acquisition of Adelphia or the many other horrible things it does. read more

I used to love Comcast, long before they became Xfinity or merged with Time Warner. No, I truly loved Comcast. Customer service was great, they actually cared about providing good service BUT not now... the poor fools who work in customer service get an earful with every call they take and that's probably over a 100 calls a day - that's got to be a difficult life listening day in and out to disgruntled customers. I know I've logged a lot of hours on the phone, in lines, waiting for service installations that turn into no show appointments and yet I'm offered the meek compensation of $20 off my bill for wasting four hours of my time waiting for an installation or repair that didn't happen. Insulting that Comcast feels that I'm not even worth minimum wage. If that doesn't get your blood to boil, Comcast will start July 1 crazy hidden charges such as $50 per box per installation, they even charge $25 to hook up a DVD or VCR player and will do so without asking. Then if you forget to pay your bill and miss a month or if you're late, they flip a switch and bam you're disconnected. Once you pay up and you're connected again then they slap you with reconnection fees, again per box not incident. Hidden fees? Sneaky bastards that's not the proper way to do business much less keep customers - even the loyal long-time customers like me. Let's say your service plan is $89.99 - your first clue that something is amiss is that penny shy of a nice rounded $90 that's old school infomercial price tags... "As seen on TV" plastic garbage that you attempt to use once, breaks and ends up the Pacific garbage patch - exactly where Comcast belongs these days. But hey, I've got cable and internet for $89.99 a month So you forego all the warning signs that this is a bad idea and you sign up with Comcast - well after July 1, 2014 there's a fee for disconnecting your service too - somewhere in the neighborhood of one month bill plus or minus an extra $50. For me, pondering over other service providers, it's a no-brainer and I must make up my mind before the first. But let's face it nothing stays the same and Comcast is certainly not exempt from change. Unfortunately I'm having a difficult time paying the inflated price for these invisible changes. After dealing once again with an over inflated bill well over $400, I spent another afternoon arguing with this company that holds me hostage for their service. Therefore, I'm doing the math trying to figure out where I can find better service for a cheaper price and still work from home which requires a ton of downloads and streaming. Today it seems that most often there is nothing on television. I rarely watch commercial TV and I'm flush with Netflix, Hulu and Amazon even iTunes provides a quick fix at a nice neat price of $1.99 per show (that's 100 shows for the Comcast price). I'd really like to buy HBO, Showtime, But then when you add in the customer service, the monthly hassles haggling over an over priced bill for a service that falls miles below what I' pay for, well it's time to think about ending this relationship. It's just not working anymore and I've fallen out of love into something that I don't like. I feel as if I'm buying a dead dog every month and quite frankly the love affair is long over and I give up. I've been a loyal customer since 1974... other than my family this has been one of the longest relationships I've had in my life. Even when put into those terms, I still don't feel remorse that I'm moving on with my life, moving my service to someone who actually cares whether I'm truly satisfied and truly aspires to meet my needs. I never thought I would write a review of my cable,internet and phone company (the package deal which is cheaper for those of us that must have every channel known to man) but I had a bizarre situation occur when I called customer service and made an astounding discovery. Comcast says that they do not support Outlook..... Oh yes, they support Outlook Express. Nada help with email problems on Outlook. WTF??? They told me to switch over to Outlook Express and then they could help if I had a problem. WHAT??? I've had this service for 2 years! Did they just stop supporting Outlook? AND the customer service rep put me on hold and transferred me to their outsourced tech support without telling me so that he could inform me of this news.... but only after making me call back twice because he thought I got transferred to the wrong dept. I found my fix in the user forum on the comcast.net website. Haven't had a problem since! TG the users know more of the loopholes than customer service. I will keep my service (for now) because it is relatively fast and because i LOVE the On Demand service for cable (for my kids). But I will be on the lookout for a competitor that can give me all of this and support my freaking main stream programs! I believe in Karma and your days are numbered Comcast! read more

Called Comcast and complained about the rude manager. They said I could return Saturday from 8AM - 6:00 PM to swap routers. I returned to the Potrero location on Saturday. The young lady who helped me said they didn't have the router I was wanting. I told her I had called their customer service line twice and confirmed that their location had it. She said... "Well, what do you expect me to do about it?" ALSO "I can't do anything about it." ALSO "Our customer service always does that." ALSO "I don't know what you expect me to do about this." I mean, FOR REAL? This is what passes for customer service. REAL TALK: If I didn't need internet I wouldn't have anything to do with Comcast or Time Warner or any other cable company. Thank you Comcast for continuing to make even the most simple process difficult. It amazes me how bad telecom customer service is compared to other industries. If I walked into a cafe to get a cup of coffee and the employees didn't speak to me for an hour, then gave me a different store to go to, then referred me to a previous store, than wouldn't answer their phone (I'm going a bit far with the analogy at this point), it wouldn't fly at all. What's great about this interaction, of the many I've had with them, is my roommate and I area actually trying to spend more money and upgrade to the fastest upload speed (50 mbps per second) since we work from home. It took 2 1/2 hours to get a real person on the phone, or (and don't kill me here because i'm just being honest) to get someone who spoke enough english to understand that we simply wanted to upgrade our service. The final answer after all that time? No problem , just come into our store and we'll take care of it. Thanks Comcast, you're the best!!! read more

THEY ARE A RIP OFF. I had the service for 12 years at my second home in Park City Ut. My service was paid for by automatic billing on my credit card. I sold my home on the first of June, 2016. I personally delivered all 7 boxes (yes a big account) to the local Park City store and have a receipt for returning them the day of the sale of my property. On the same day, they charged my account for the next month's billing. The lady at the Park City store told me they would refund my money. Upon calling, they refused to credit back my credit card. I have REPEATEDLY called, average 30 minutes per call, with no satisfaction. I have decided not to worry about the refund any longer as my time is worth more than the amount of the refund. We are being held hostage by these people. Their customer service just wants to transfer you to someone in Ohio, Michigan and the third call was transferred to someone offshore. What a joke. IF you are discontinuing your service, make sure to take it off automatic billing 3 months before you disconnect so you will not loose money also. Jane read more

It's 12:11 and I'm on the phone with u. Blah blah. You will get $20 credit to ur bill. And they called to say another 2 hours. So in all I get $20 for you wasting 4 hours of my time. ComCast or Xfiniy or whatever they're calling themselves is the absolute worst ISP in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have been having issues with them for months and they're outsourced call centers are a complete joke. No training and all they'll try and do is sell you a networking support service for $40-50. There are known issues between ComCast and GoDaddy if you own a website hosted by GoDaddy you're going to be crying... I can't even believe a company of this size can afford to operate in this fashion. I feel like I'm calling a garage somewhere with a few folks laughing all the way to the bank. Let me start off by saying that I hate HATE HATE comcast. With that being said, Christian, who's number is above (with the 415 area code) blew my mind away (in a good way). This review is strictly for him. He deserves a raise and a promotion. If more people like him change mgmt at comcast, maybe they will be a half-way decent company. I was trying to downgrade my service (cut the cable but keep the internet) and while he works in the sales department, he answered my call after hours and tried (albeit unsuccessfully) to navigate the 800 number. No fault of his if Comcast told me they were closed and that their hours were from 9-8 (it was 6:35). While I would have been at a bar at that time, he tried to help and was extremely nice about it. It's amazing that a company can have such horrible ratings and still be around. I have been a comcast customer for years unfortunately. I can't even tell you how many times our internet has gone out (for some reason, it doesn't want to work before noon) and they replaced our modem multiple times. One time, a guy came and told us we needed a new modem, replaced it, and the next day our internet still wasn't working (always magically works when they are in my apartment though). I called AGAIN and they told me there must be something wrong with my modem and to bring it in. I did that, and they told me "This is an old modem". So.. why are your technicians giving out old modems? Dumb situations like this one have happened over and over. It's impossible to have an honest conversation with the robotic phone reps or to get a technician to find out the ACTUAL problem. Right now, their website is re-directing users to the main page and not letting them go to 'my account' after logging in. I read all in their forums and tons of people have been having this issue for months. Their fix? Oh you have to use a username instead of your e-mail address.. even though we have been using our email address for years. Why the sudden change? They just LOVE to create a bad experience for no reason. read more
