Comcast has no record of any problem in our area. A technician cannot come out until Thursday. Wednesday after work- No cable, no internet. After almost nine years with Boyfriend, we have nothing left to say to one another. Thank goodness for Arrested Development on DVD! Thursday- No cable, no internet. Boyfriend comes home from work two hours early for the 4 o'clock appointment. Jerry shows up at 5. Works for an hour. Leaves at 6, THE PROBLEM UNSOLVED, because he's "spent enough time here." We call their service center who acknowledge that he shouldn't have left. They reschedule for the next day. Friday- No cable, no internet. Boyfriend comes home from work two hours early again. NO ONE EVER SHOWS UP. We call the service center and ask for a supervisor. Eric, the supervisor, is very nice and apologetic. He gives us his personal cell number and promises to send someone over on Saturday. Saturday- No cable, no internet. Pat shows up. Fixes the problem in 5 MINUTES. THANK YOU, Eric and Pat! I hadn't been to the XFINITY store/support center in a long time and since, they've set up tablet check-in system which streamlines the process. It was efficient. I had to exchange a modem that was outdated and once I was called, I was out the door in 2 minutes. I did have to point out to the tech, though, that since I had an Apple Airport, I didn't want the bulkier XFINITY modem that duplicated that. As it turned out, had I gotten the modem they initially handed me and not questioned it, it wouldn't have been compatible and I would've had to exchange it, again. They should've asked the question and didn't; it's a good thing I'm tech smart. read more

Despite the long lines at this payment/service center, they are pretty damned efficient. Friendly too, considering how many unhappy people come in to bitch at them (like at the DMV.) Yeah, they just sent me another bill even though my account was supposed to have been closed a month ago. But the rep checked my account and said I'd be receiving a refund shortly and even printed out a receipt indicating so. Wow this place is the worst. We've all heard about Comcast's terrible customer service reputation; they really live up to it. Long lines for simple processes and customer service representatives that act and sound like they work for an airline. No sense of urgency and incredibly wide estimates for wait times. "10-40 minutes"... Like really, you can't give something more precise?!! Don't let the spacious waiting room deceive you. People are spread out but it still takes a LONG time to get to the front of each of the multiple lines. read more

It really is Craptastic. I work from home, connecting to servers in the office, so my high speed internet access is crucial to my productivity. It goes down several times a week, outages varying from a few minutes to a few hours. Working on dial up SUCKS ASS and I can't make any phone calls while I'm doing it, which is often required. (I don't get cell reception here, but that is a gripe about a different conglomerate.) That is all . Absolute scam. Service was fine, as it should be for $220/month. Terrible customer service, and I won't even get into that. I haven't written a review on Yelp for over a year but I felt like I had to warn people. 1.) They HATE when you cancel. Prepare to check your bill and dispute random charges because you will have them. 2.) It cost $50 to have a guy come to your house to pick up a cable box when you cancel (who also forgot to pick up our modem which I am responsible for and owe money for). The free option, the service center, is in a bad location, there is only one in SF and its terrible. 3.) You will get put on an 855 number list that never stops calling you and when you call to have your number removed, they say it takes 30 days. THEY NEVER STOP CALLING YOU; literally 3-4 times a day/night. To Comcast: I have can buy whatever the f*ck I want so f*ck you Comcast I'm out. This company is dead, it won't exist in five years. OMFG. Has this only been a year? It felt like eternity. Well I had another cable debacle this year. We weren't getting cable access and customer service said the signal wasn't getting picked up. So they arrange for a tech to come by. I told the tech straight up to check the wires because I think it's a wire issue. He does not do that but got the service to work. He even swapped one of the older boxes just to be sure. Well, come evening, I don't have cable anymore. So I place another call and arrange for a second tech to come in the day after tomorrow. Second tech comes and starts looking at the wires outside the house. She found that the wire was burned through so she rehooked my cable. That was a free service and Marie was excellent - one star for her! Well, I get a bill and there's $80 worth of junk charges in it - including a failed box installation and additional wiring. This is for the initial house visit with the guy who did jack. I call Comcast and get this idiot who tells me the charges were legit. After much arguing, the tells me he can only take $30 off the bill because the tech did installation work?!!?!? I said that's unacceptable and I demanded to speak with a manager. He said the manager wasn't available but I can speak to a supervisor. He transfer me to a dead end line. No one picks up and it just rang off the hook. I hang up and call again. The second time, I get a person who was smarter than the first idiot I spoke with. She explained that the first person they sent was a contractor. No wonder I'm being charged, they work off on commission. The lady said they cannot remove the charges because the contractor said he did the work. No amount of arguing can fix this. It's really he said, she said. Anyway, they offered me a $20 credit for my troubles. I said, the first clerk offered me a $30 credit, how come I'm only getting $20 now? So the clerk ended up knocking $50 off the bill but I'm still on the hook for $30 illegal charges. Lesson learned: Next time you get Comcast to make a house call, get out your iPhone, iPad or camcorder and videotape what they are doing. These people are liars. I wish I can use someone else! The staff is efficient and friendly...and, most of all, very proficient in their customer service offers and what works best for the customer's needs. I came looking for a change to service to reduce the cable and Internet costs as well as see if we can upgrade the broken cable box...and was able to score a brand new offer the Digital Starter package for $79.99. It includes DVR (records up to 60hrs of HD), 100mbp Internet, cable channels to 804, showtime for a year. Comcast's deceptive sales and billing continues. I never ordered "Choice TV+" ($10/mo) or "Broadcast TV Fee" ($17.05) and these were billed to me for the past several months. I was able to remove these 2 items from my billing today. Comcast won't give me any refund for past billings. This is a lesson to read the billing details. I was without internet for a weekend and actually paid to get 3G at home for the time without internet as I needed it for school work. I called comcast four times and was on hold, all together, for over 2 hours. I was routed to an external company (although I didn't know they were a third party agent) and was told that I could have a technician help me, but I would have to upgrade to Comcast signature, which costs $80 up front and $6 a month after that. Wow. I didn't have internet! I said no, called AppleCare and there were able to help me over the phone in less than 30 minutes. I called comcast all this to let them know what happened. I was told there was no record of me calling and there was nothing they could do. I asked to speak to a manager and was told there were no managers. I was yelled at and laughed at. After reading all the negative reviews, we were slightly hesitant to stop by. Wait time for a consultant was less than 10 minutes and the level of customer service we received was stellar! After signing up for Comcast online, we were told to visit the store in order to complete the sign up. JONATHAN CHIN was extremely helpful in correcting the mistakes that the online system made (signing us up for the wrong package, overcharging us & signing us up for a SD not HD DVR). To streamline your business by offering online 'convenience' is great... But in this case, I am so grateful that your store staff know what's up and are so helpful! There is a consistent 30-45 minute wait here at all times. All the workers are rude and rush you. The first thing I notice is a unfriendly ghetto security guard watching the check in kiosk. He tells me to sign my name on this list and the wait is 30 minutes. As I sign my name, there are dozens of other patrons trying to ask questions and complain. It's complete chaos. Everyone is signing into this wait list, with no idea what's happening. There's not even enough chairs for all the waiting people. It's embarrassing. Usually you can make a payment at the do it yourself kiosk, but, both are out of order. Adding more chaos to this store. Everyone is grunting and frustrated. There is no direction with anything. Let me give you some numbers here, as a former Comcast customer. I had Sonic Gigabit Fiber - that's 1000 Mbps - installed today, on a promotion of $40 per month, with the normal charge being $50 per month after the promotion. Comcast was charging me $113 per month for 250 Mbps. I called them and told them to terminate my account and that I was switching to Sonic. They asked me if there was anything they could do to keep me as a customer. "You can try," I said. I was transferred to a "customer loyalty specialist" who offered me a - drumroll please - discount to $89 per month for that same 250 Mbps service. I told him that Sonic was offering Gigabit for $50 a month. "Well I can't do that. Do they have a data quality guarantee?" he asked. "I don't know." He scoffed, "Well Sonic isn't going to give you the same quality as us, I'll tell you that." "Well, I'll give it a shot." He proceeded to cancel my account. Before having my Sonic installation done this morning, I ran a speed test on my Comcast service, getting an average of 89 Mbps download, 11 Mbps upload after 10 runs of the speed test, over WiFi from my couch in the living room. After the Sonic team came and did a masterful job running fiber and ethernet cords through my apartment in a nontrivial setup I asked of them, I ran the speed test over WiFi from my couch again, another 10 runs. My average was 370 Mbps download, 250 Mbps upload. That's 4 times the download speed and 22 times the upload speed. Welcome to the 21st century, Mr. Comcast Customer Loyalty Specialist. We can call your bullshit by filling out a simple Internet form and scheduling an appointment in 48 hours. read more

Update: it turns out the collection issue wasn't the modem, it was an outstanding bill from the account I had previously. This is frustrating for a couple of reasons. First, I had to speak to several support representatives just to figure out what happened (the first woman insisted it was the modem). Second, I specifically called to make sure that account was squared away a couple of weeks after I moved. This was necessary because the woman who helped me with the transfer inadvertently canceled the account altogether instead of simply changing the address. As I wasn't receiving paper bills and would have no longer have any reason to log into the old account online, I knew I should be proactive in making sure I was paid in full. Bottom line: I've had more bad experiences with Comcast than I can count, and I would recommend staying as far away from this company as possible. I don't give one-star reviews lightly, either (current total is three out of 164 reviews written since 12/2006). read more

-call Xfinity to cancel your deceased cousin's account and verify what equipment needs to be returned -return equipment with required death certificate in hand -store employee declines death certificate and backdated account to date of hospitalization (making account at zero balance) and closes account -receive bill for one months service the following month -call to follow up only to be told no one can give info as I'm not on the account. Yes, but account holder is deceased. Can I return to the store with a death certificate? No. I've done that (and frankly have a million other plates spinning between her estate, her children, and her home and belongings) Can I speak to your supervisor? No ma'am because you're not on the account. Inform them they will not be receiving any further payments -receive a collections bill with errant month's fee PLUS a late fee. Just another dissatisfied former customer who will never, ever be a return customer. Way Horrible and disgusting way to handle a deceased persons account. read more

Yes I went in the afternoon. Yes the line went to the door. Yes people in the line were grumpy. BUT Yes the line went very fast. Yes the staff were smiley and happy. Yes I was in and out in under 30 mins. Yes they answered my questions (and took back my cable box and gave me a cable-card for my Tivo and were totally on top of it).
