Friendly dedicated staff!! Food looked super yummy however I was a little bit disappointed. One of my soup lacked flavor and in fact they admit that the chef forgot to add salt and they did offer to make a fresh new one which I declined. Still I would go back to try again just because I could tell everyone super nice and wanting to do the right thing.

I came to the restaraunt that replaced one of my favorite bobas in cupertino. This area is very competitive and already has other claypot restaraunts so I hold any new place to a very high standard. Since it took over a boba store, I expected it to not have a lot of space, but it was decently spacious. There are lots of tables but the tables are a bit small. We could barely fit our claypots on the tables. You order with QR and service takes a while due to claypot nature of the restaraunt. we ordered 3 things: lava tofu, beef pickle claypot, and intestines claypot. Literally all 3 items were amazing. - celtuce is very soft and melts in your mouth. - meat is tender, and broth is very flavorful - tofu flavor was amazing. Not sure I could pinpoint it. Maybe some kind of egg? The portions were gigantic. We had to take it home, but it ended up lasting 3 meals. by far this was the best claypot we've had in the area. Hands down coming back again.

Wow, the food here hit the spot. I was pleasantly surprised, but I might be biased because the dishes here are just what I normally prefer. It's hard to not give this place a 5 stars when all the dishes you try have your favorite ingredients done right. The intestine with celtuce = perfectly seasoned. Intestines were soft. Celtuce helps balance out the greasiness. It had the perfect hint of slight spice. My fiance really wanted to try the spicy jelly noodle, so we did. The sauce was pretty good - very vinegary, but surprisingly my fiance was okay with that (he usually doesn't like vinegar taste). The cold noodle in sesame sauce was pretty good. They premix it for you so you don't need to worry too much about spreading the sauce around. The sesame paste was a bit subtle, I personally would prefer more sesame paste, but I just scooped more of the sauce from the bottom of the dish and that helped satisfied some of that craving. Private parking lot, but it was surprisingly full considering that it's a new restaurant. (Or I'm just used to the empty Mr Sun parking lot)

"Let's go to that place with the spicy fish and intestines..." "Shang Cafe?" "Yea, but I can't eat spicy tonight." *Face palm* Dining with peeps who can't eat spicy or think black pepper is "spicy"? XPP Claypot got 'em! Opening last month, XPP Claypot has been a hit with the local Cupertino community. It seems we were the only non-Mandarin speaking customers so you know this place is legit. Expect a wait during peak hours. We signed in at the kiosk and the wait was about 20 minutes on a Saturday evening around 6 pm. You'll receive a text when your table is ready. M E N U Sichuan-style claypot dishes with an extensive selection of non-spicy dishes. For some dishes, you can customize the salt level. Place your order via QR code. F O O D * Crispy Pork & Hand-Beaten Meatball Soup 酥肉手工丸子双拼 ($17.99): https://tinyurl.com/2tfwbe78 What makes this soup special is the texture contrast of the crispy pork and soft, bouncy meatballs. BUT, the crispy pork was mixed into the soup, rendering them unpleasantly soggy. Loved the meatballs tho...it had strong ginger essence. * Braised Pork Intestine w/ green peas 豌豆肥肠 ($19.99): https://tinyurl.com/bdyecxru Rich, meltingly soft and gelatinous pork intestines in a savory gravy. More aesthetics than anything but the peas were brownish green from overcooking. * Taro & Pork Bone Claypot 原味香芋排骨煲 ($21.99): https://tinyurl.com/238vavj3 Comforting homestyle dish with tender pork ribs with fluffy soft, nutty taro. The latter breaking down slightly creating a delicious, creamy broth. * Whole Tomato Braised Beef Brisket 一颗番茄牛腩 ($21.99): https://tinyurl.com/4n9ut547 Another homestyle dish, popular among many regions in China, this was my first time having it claypot form. While the beef brisket (rough flank) was tender, it tasted like it was braised separately and dumped into the tangy tomato broth. It was lacking a rich, slow-cooked flavor. * Crab Roe Tofu Pudding 金沙蟹黄豆花 ($17.99): https://tinyurl.com/4ka82tmk The final dish was THE standout that I wished I reserved more stomach space for. Soft, silky tofu cubes swimming in an incredibly savory, umami-rich crab roe and crab fat sauce. UGH, it was soooo good over steamed rice. GET THIS! S E R V I C E Friendly and prompt. Despite being packed, we received our entire order in about 20 minutes. A M B I A N C E Formerly Mr. Sun Tea, the remodeled space is sophisticated yet casual with 18-20 tables and warm earth tones. Hope they consider turning it down a notch or two as the lighting felt like you're spread eagle at your gyno's. Chinese rap playlist. When the weather is warmer, it will be nice to see tables placed in the front patio for outdoor dining. Overall, we enjoyed the comforting, homestyle claypot dishes and thought the value was there (plenty of leftovers). I had order envy with the burn your booty hole dishes on other tables - I'll be back for you, spicy duck claypot!

New claypot place in Cupertino. Huge potions and delicious food. We ordered 3 dishes for 2 people and had half of the food to take home. Everything comes in a clay pot which was super nice. Crab roe tofu pudding 5/5: so good, has a strong crab and roe taste, addicting! Taro and pork rib clay pot 3.5/5: the taro and soup were a really nice flavourful combination. Wish the meat quality was a bit better. The table next to us had a lot more taro; i think we would have liked that better (ours was mostly crumbled pieces). Spicy black duck clay pot 5/5: quite spicy as expected from a sichuan place, but delicious. So much flavor and duck was perfectly cooked. This was partner's favorite. Only annoyance is that they charge for rice.

Saw a new Chinese restaurant opened up and decided to try it out. Flavors were pretty good. They have QR code scan for menu and order.

Been here a few times and so far each time the food has been pretty good. We've ordered the various clay pot's soups and they also have a good mapo tofu with just enough heat and numbness from the peppercorns. If you're interested in some clay pot's dishes, stews and soup's then check out XXP Claypot.

Environment is clean, clay pots do keep the temperature well. Service feel a bit slow. Portion is huge, flavor is better than homeeat, but has room to improve, for instance, the pork intestines I can only taste spicy but no spices. Huge chunk of fat still attached to the beef, which can be resolved by slow cooking or just chop it off.

Food was hot, delicious, spicy and authentic. Definitely some food that needs some rice. We got the pork belly, spicy beef clay pot and a pickled beef. All were great!

    Iris Y.

Very authentic Sichuan clay pot food! Great variety with both spicy and non-spicy options, so there's something for everyone. We ended up ordering a lot because they all looked so good! Our favorites were the pickled mustard fish stew, spicy black duck clay pot, and crab roe tofu pudding, super rich, bold flavors. Everything tasted comforting and legit. Definitely coming back again!

Surprisingly, the normal Dan Dan noodles ("special sesame dry noodle") were quite bad. The beef and tendon noodle soup is not bad, decent for when I was sick. After placing our order, the food came out relatively quick. We ordered 2 beef noodle soups, the works, and 2 beef rolls. Starting off with the beef rolls, these came out cold. I heard that this is what this place was known for. The meat in our rolls wasn't even lukewarm and the pancakes came out super soggy almost like they didn't even try. Please tell me how the pancake look brown and crispy on the outside and still comes out cold and not crispy at all. My nephew even said they weren't crispy and he's 3. The lady told us that the sauce on the inside was salty and that's why they don't give extra and man was she right. 1/5* The beef noodles soup itself flavor wise was good and portion wise it was good for $21, but my noodles had no chew to them at all. I was attempting to pick them up with chopsticks and they would just break into pieces. They do give a decent amount of beef though in this. 2.5/5* for the flavor but don't expect much from the noodles. Same thing went for the works, it was a peanut buttery sauce that the lady claimed wasn't spicy, but my parents noticed that it had a kick to it even though they asked for it not to be spicy. The egg is a nice touch but not too sure if it's worth the price. Noodle consistency was the same as the beef noodle soup. 2.5/5*

Service was minimal- we weren't even sure presented with 2 cups and a carafe of water to start. Our order arrived and we got a complimentary seaweed miso soup. Soup was quite good with real seaweed - not the dehydrated stuff in some Japanese restaurants. Surprisingly the food was delicious! The ma po tofu was very authentic. There's schezwan peppers or Mala in it but it was not overpowering that it numbs your tastebuds! The tofu was soft and silky. The beef had good flavor and balanced the meal out. Beef was tender. However I can honestly say this restaurant is just as good as the best Hunan/Sichuan food from the San Gabriel area. This used to be a different Sichuan dry pot restaurant that was so so and I really haven't gone back since the new one opened up. The name is also really misleading because many Taiwanese restaurant use Grandma as the name. As a foodie this restaurant is legit. It's in a small plaza shared with another Taiwanese restaurant so parking can be difficult but there are plenty of street parking right next to the restaurant. The interior is clean and well organized. The service is prompt and good enough. They ask for reviews but didn't promise some freebie for a semi fake 5 star review which is great. I never leave a good review just for a freebie because my integrity is way more expensive than freebies. The food is phenomenal and authentic in every way. The frogs are tender and the spices are not overwhelming and brings out the flavor of the frog meat just right. The cured pork (pig face meat) is very rare in the states. It's also cured properly to give the authentic hunan flavor. They also mix it with raddish slices which is also rare in most Chinese restaurants here in the states. Even the conch with bamboo shots surprised me in how thin the slices of the conches are. It's also flavored without being too spicy nor too salty. Everything is on point. I do wish they used better white rice but that alone is not enough for me to take off any stars. This is just a wonderful restaurant that's on par with my favorite hunan restaurant in San Gabriel and I'm so glad I found it because I'm sure going to go back every week now.
