I don't know how I've not previously written a review for Carmon as I have been a thankful recipient of expertise for probably 10 years when he had his shop at the 75 and royal area.  He is beyond budget considerate with his pricing and just overall extremely honest and fair. He continuously goes above and beyond to help. I was recently on a road trip with my not yet 2 year old daughter and husband when we experienced some mechanical issues. I reached out to Carmon and he explained what was happening and helped my family get home safely. Furthermore, he then educated us on how to prevent it in the future. I had someone changed my brakes and rotor, in the process stripped a lug. This someone told me I need to get it taken off ASAP. A friend recommended me to take it to Xpress Automotive. I've been to this place a few times and each time owner, Carmon, was not exactly customer friendly. He's been crass, patronizing but at the same time honest and straightforward. I appreciate no nonsense attitude but not when you say to your customers "I was mean to you on the phone because what you were saying didn't make any fucking sense" is not exactly the way to run a business. Yes they did seem to have fixed the issue after topping off the brake fluid and Carmon even explained why pedal being soft had nothing to do with brake pads and rotors. However, there was no need to explicitly communicate that "you don't know shit about cars". Yes, don't know much about cars and I am absolutely sure none of them know single iota about what I do but I would not be patronizing towards anyone. I understand that working in the heat of sun may not leave you in a friendly state of mind but at the same time you chose this profession; you signed up to work in the sun. My 2017 chevy trax overheated so i took it to Christian bros for a diagnostic ($180) and they confirmed i needed a new thermostat, serpentine belt, and water pump and the estimated cost for this with them would be around $2500. Not many people have that laying around to be quite honest so i shopped around and came across Carmon's shop who was thorough, concise, direct and clear with explanations. Ended up going through him for a price that was significantly less than $2500 and my car works perfect. Same day service. 10/10 find. Cant suggest these guys at Xpress Automotive enough. Overall, Mr Owner told me to purchase a brand new power steering; labor 350.... He lifted my car; the power steering was one once side, the leak was on the other side of the car. Took the car two different another mechanics and they both informed me that the power steering was fine. It was the rack and pinion( sorry wrong spelling)... So of course, we have all came across these mechanics that tell you one thing to fix and "something else comes up" which cost more $$$... Thank goodness Carmen was NASTY to me. I brought my Jeep Wrangler in for AC and electrical repair. I was quoted a price of $350 (after specifically clarifying that included labor cost). Carmon called back the next day (before work was done) to update the estimate to $550 (his employee Katie hadn't included labor costs). That seemed fair and reasonable so I went with their service. Before i left the shop with my car, I noticed that my 4wd was engaged, but he has already left the premises so I couldn't ask him about it. (Car was estimated to be done at noon and I got a call it was ready at 5:47 - they close at 6). Took my car in to get A/C fixed. Carmon replaced my compressor and recharged the Freon. I dropped off in the morning, and picked up the evening that same day. Car problems make me want to cry..literally & I absolutely dread taking my car in to get look at because I already expect a quote that again..will make me cry. I've been bringing my car here for the past 3 years for routine oil changes and tire rotations. No appointment necessary for those. I just roll up and he's always had an open bay. Always less then 30 minutes in and out. Definitely beats sitting around any dealership for 3+ hours for something simple. Great guy running the shop! He has always been friendly. I can see why other reviewers might take offense in the way he conveys information, but in my opinion, as long as the car is running and the work is solid, that really shouldn't matter. If you're the type of person that wants a place that is more, "Dallas-friendly" in terms of customer service, amenities, and fluff, then this place is probably not going to make you happy. An Okay shop with a few drawbacks. Pros: 1. Prices are fair. 2. Shop doesn't try to scam you into additional unnecessary repairs. Cons: 1. Attention to detail is lacking. I've come back home with greasy fenders after an oil change. 2. Maybe it's my luck, or maybe it's my cars, some of the things that were worked on were never truly fixed. Cars rear brakes still make noise after a complete replacement of bearings, shoes, drums, and shock dampeners. A replaced oil pan is seeping less than a year later. read more

I have been an Xpress Automotive customer for years. Carmon has always treated me with respect and explained the situation with me when I've had questions. I have an older truck, but whenever I have an issue, I give Carmon a call and see if they can schedule me in. He always does his best to get the truck in and out to meet my schedule. I've had a tune-up there, water pump replaced and he's looked at my transmission. Probably a few other things I can't think of at the moment. I just tell him, "Whatever it takes to keep my truck running." His passion for cars is evident and he always comes through, usually less expensive than other shops. I live near Addison and would drive down to the old Central Expressway shop, but the move to Far North Dallas is now closer for me. This guy Carmon - ran a shop off of Central expressway - he took my daughter to the cleaners. Not only charged her 700% more for parts than market value, but didn't even do the repairs he listed. Instead of fixing a heater core issue he loaded the car down with sealant and ruined the radiator and caused $k of dollars of damage. After 5 subsequent repairs and having all the parts and proof to sue him...we filed a small claims action against him about the time he ran from Dallas to Carrolton (btw the guy doesn't even have a home).....and during this time he filed for bankruptcy. He takes advantage of women, he's a cheat, he's a liar...and he should be taken out of business asap. Instead of fulfilling his obligations he runs and hides under bankruptcy. He's incompetent. He owes us nearly $7,000 dollars from the damage he did to her car. read more

I was greeted by the owner, and he was extremely friendly. He let me know of my different options, but I did not feel pressured at all. With no appointment, I was in and out in about 25 minutes. Radiator and all hoses flushed. I was able to leave a deposit and pay the rest when I picked up the vehicle. He guaranteed me if anything went wrong he would fix it no extra charge. And he did. Recently check-in engine light popped up on my 2012 Sonata, I came to this service and instead of charging me as much as possible (as I believe most services will do), they suggested me to change fuel tank cap, because that might be a thing that causes a problem. After I did it light has gone, and they never charged me, even though they spent some time to figure out what is the problem. Yesterday I came to them again, because my engine doesn't start. They figured out that it's a starter. In 4 hours problem was solved. From my previous experience at other services I can say that they charge you reasonable fees, and they don't want you to spend extra money. Reliable guys, great service. I officially love these guys. So my registration/inspection expires this month. Like anybody, I put it off until the middle of the month and then panicked when I realized I hadn't renewed yet. I sent in the registration renewal check, and only THEN realized that under the new rules, you have to get your state inspection done BEFORE they will renew your registration. Cue second panic. So I did some Yelp digging for a mechanic close to my office with good reviews, and found Xpress Automotive. I called Carmon and asked if, were I to come by on my lunch break (which is only half an hour), would he be able to get it done? He answered unequivocally yes. When I brought my car in, he knew exactly who I was. He was super friendly and SUPER speedy. He got it done in 10 minutes (possibly less, I wasn't timing exactly, it was just really fast). I think I was really throwing off some stressed vibes about getting back to the office on time because he apologized for not doing it faster, but seriously, you'd have to be super human to get that inspection done any faster. And better yet, the whole thing only cost me $20. So, to sum up--take your car to Xpress Automotive. It's fast, it's friendly, and it's crazy affordable. My experience with Carmon was disappointing to say the least. I have a BMW 325i-2008. On Friday my car temperature gauge showed overheating. I did not know what was causing the problem. I phoned Carmon and was advised to bring the car in. I told him due to indications of overheating, I would have it brought in by tow truck. We spoke via phone, Friday after the cars arrival to his shop. I was advised by Carmon, he allowed my car to run 3 hours and no indication of overheating. I responded with "did you drive it". On Saturday morning, he called me and informed me my car was indeed overheating,, and the problems were "thermostat and spark plugs. He called me Saturday evening, and informed me my car was ready, I asked him the cost and was advised $479.99. I arrived to the shop by Lyft, and we laughed a joke about me wanting the car to just make it through the summer. He said, I think it will. I got into my car, and less then 5 minutes drive time, less then a mile away my car was overheating again, (hence the problem was not fixed, hence you did not test the car before you had customer come in pay and pick up the car). I immediately pulled over, called Carmon and he advised to bring the car right back. I told him I could not since it says, OVERHEATING DO NOT DRIVE. He stated, that he will be leaving the shop soon to get home early, but it would be someone there to receive car. After 2 hours of sitting idle at road side, the car was returned to shop and keys placed in drop area provided. Carmon called me on Monday, and advised me that there was nothing he could do for my car. I may need head gaskets or something. " THE CAR WAS SHOT! I was very confused with that statement, because I thought you "Carmon" repaired it. He said "I DID". I said no you did not ! he immediately stated I was NOT getting my monies back, he because he repaired my car.- The so called repair, is not the problem. My car was not repairable when I brought it in. A GREAT mechanic would have 1-identified the problem (diagnostically) 2-performed the necessary test 3-drove the car prior to having customer pick up car (when you stated it was fixed and it wasn't) 4- honestly tell the customer the facts, good, bad or ugly truth 5- Returned the monies because you did not deliver on the NOTION car was repaired. The car was not in my possession 5 minutes before it was overheating. Does this sound like someone I would do business. read more

I've only lived nearby the place for a year, but I've already gone there several times for various car-related reasons. A couple of times they either helped me with a small problem or gave me advice on something I could think about and I went away without spending a dime. Two words: FREE DIAGNOSIS. That's huge. They're also open 7 days a week!!! I know I can trust them to fix the problem I need help with and will efficiently get the job done while charging me an honest price. They're also happy to show me exactly what the diagnosis reads on their device and show me what my car needs but they are never too pushy. I feel confident as a girl in her 20s showing up and knowing they wouldn't pull anything over on me. One of the downsides is that the waiting area is a little subpar (but what quality service car garages don't have that trouble?), and when I show up sometimes it's awkward to know where to initially put my car (but again, I have that trouble everywhere). Overall I try to get my car related needs taken care of here and it's usually worth it. - - - - - - Months later, my husband feels like I need to add that HE isn't crazy about the place. He says it's unorganized, it smells like weed, and the people don't always seem the most professional. I realized it's actually true. Getting noticed and communicating with people there can also be difficult. The structure of things might be hard to change overnight, but I think the weed smell is a reasonable fix. read more

It sure is nice that they are open on weekends. Carmon is the shop owner. He's a good mechanic and a real decent soul. They work fast too! There wasn't a wait when I got there. So I was in and out in about 30 mins. Got my tires mounted and balanced for a great price. Thank God bc it's been on that raggedy donut the past two weeks, I know, terrible! While I was there I decided to go ahead and do my car inspection for $20. My license plate bulb was out. I thought for sure he wasn't going to pass me and I'd have to come back, but he did me a real solid and changed in out in a matter of seconds and I was squared away. When it was time to pay he said not to worry about paying for the light. I told him I was happy to pay, but he said I had spent some money with him already and to go back and see him for my next oil change and/or other maintenance. This is a great garage. I needed an oil change on Sunday and this garage is one of the few that are open on Sunday's. When I arrived the mechanic was friendly, but working by himself so he asked if I wouldn't mind waiting. I ended up leaving my car there which he appreciated. SO GRATEFUL I FOUND THIS PLACE! The shop was fast, courteous, and by far the lowest prices I've found in DFW. I had both brakes (front and back), transmission fluid, and front and rear differential fluid changed all for the same price as the last time I had someone just change the brakes. Plus, I got a lifetime warranty on the brakes. Ridiculous. If you're looking for a spotless showroom with lots of amenities while you wait...look somewhere else.
