Writing another review! I originally gave 5 years ago when I first stumbled across their shop and I'm sticking to it! The guys here are great and I feel like they consistently go above and beyond for me. 1st experience: Replaced my taillight bulb for free 2nd experience: I honestly don't recall what needed to be fixed but it was minor..by the time I was done grabbing some pizza across the street and taking a lap they were done. I mentioned someone had broke a panel off my window the night prior at my friends complex but I still had the piece and they fixed it for me for free 3rd experience: As someone who's not from here/had never been on public transit, after dropping off my car (for a multi-day job), I asked Edgar (I believe was his name) for instructions on how to catch the dart and he insisted he request me an Uber instead! Hello?! That is incredible and I seriously appreciated it so much especially being a woman new to Texas and it being later in the evening. They fixed my oil leak and I hadn't had any issues with the work they did. He also worked with me on the quote. Bringing us to now, they currently have my car and are working on the biggest project for my car to date..a new engine lol and I know immediately after hearing the diagnosis I was like ok well I guess I'll just get a new car (assuming that'd be the more practical option since I only bought the car for 4.5k and a new engine could be a lofty expense) however, what they quoted me is actually extremely reasonable and so again, they continue to do good work and remain steadfast in customer service. I don't even live in Carrollton but I will make the trip or pay the towing fee to come here because I trust them. I feel safe as a customer and as a woman. read more

Owner Edgar is shady!!!! Quoted price for repairs to a water pump and thermostat at 1700 dollars with parts (price gouging at its finest!) but I decided to purchase parts myself and pay for labor. He then quoted labor at 900 dollars for a 3 hr replacement job (that he billed 8 hours for) and then changed the price at pickup to 1200!!! Also tried to charge me for a tow service although I used my own Roadside Assistance with Allstate to pull the vehicle to their shop. They have ZERO INTEGRITY AND WILL RIP YOU OFF, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A WOMAN. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM UNLESS YOU WANT TO THROW MONEY AWAY ON UNEXPLAINABLE FEES THAT HE CANT EVEN JUSTIFY WITH ANY INVOICE. read more

After a bad experience at the last place, I was searching in Yelp for a new place to get our cars inspected and any service we might need that I can't do. I looked through what I think was almost every auto repair place in Carrollton where I live. This was the only place I found that had more than 10 ratings that didn't have reviews that talked about being pressured and/or scammed or shoddy work. I tried them today and I was happy with the experience. I heard please and thank you for a change which was nice. The mechanic we talked to was very friendly and thorough. My car stopped running well and I took it here to get it checked out and spent about $130 for a diagnosis. The mechanic told me that my timing chain was the problem, which on average should cost about $3400 to replace on my vehicle. I took their word for it, and decided I would sell the car since I couldn't afford the repairs. After selling for well under market value, the buyer just texted me and told me the timing chain was perfectly fine, it was simply the water pump which is much easier and cheaper to replace. I should have gotten another opinion, because now I've bought a new car and missed an opportunity to sell for way more than I could have due to this faulty diagnosis. Major kudos to Raul and all the guys at Old Town Automotive! They have been my go-to place for years and I have always been highly satisfied with the auto service and the customer service. Yes, I have had some expense in maintaining older vehicles, but I have always felt like I was getting a good value for the money at Old Town. Thanks to Raul's experience, I think he is now a "Car Whisper" and can tell what's up with your car and exactly what it needs to get you going, safely, again! Recently, this place saved me over $225 (received a rather high estimate from a Firestone place over in North Dallas, for an overheating problem) and I don't think you can do much better, for the price and convenience of the place. They are in old downtown Carrollton, right on the DART Green line....you can drop off the car first thing and take light rail wherever you need to go, then return to pick up the car the same way! I don't love paying for car repairs, but I do enjoy working with these guys, I trust them and recommend them highly! read more
