My pregnant wife took her car up here to have the ac looked at. We told the shop that the condenser fan and compressor were not working. They called us back 2 hours later telling us that our compressor and condenser fan weren't working. And they needed another hour (ie another 168$) to diagnose the vehicle. They didnt diagnose anything and then still charged us 202$ for nothing. I paid because they threatened to keep my keys, which is illegal in Texas. They will steal your money and do no work. They will bait and switch you. They will con you and over charge you for no work being done. PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE! WOLVES IN SHEEPS CLOTHING!!!! read more

It's incredibly unfortunate that I have to write this review, but as a woman, I feel it's important to share my experience and caution others before trusting Honest - 1 Auto Care with their vehicle. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I initially brought my car in for an A/C diagnostic, I believed I was making a responsible decision. I appreciated that they offered a loaner vehicle (a Smart Car) while mine was being looked at--that small gesture gave me hope that I had found a shop that valued its customers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I genuinely believed this could be the start of a positive, professional relationship with a trustworthy auto repair shop. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. The day after dropping off my vehicle, I received a call informing me that the issue was far worse than expected. They told me I needed to replace the entire controller--for a staggering $3,200. This estimate was significantly higher than quotes from two other shops, including the dealership. I was shocked. I had only recently purchased the car and couldn't afford such a costly repair. Though they offered a payment plan, I already felt uneasy and decided not to proceed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Initially, I spoke with the manager, Robert Gray, who seemed calm, respectful, and helpful over the phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]But when I arrived at the shop, Robert was unavailable, and I was instead assisted by an employee named Jonathan Kentrell. My interaction with Jonathan was jarring--he was rude, dismissive, and lacked any sense of professionalism or empathy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had to tell him directly, "It costs nothing to treat people with dignity and respect." As a woman, I felt talked down to and disregarded, and couldn't shake the feeling that I was being taken advantage of. Things only got worse. In addition to the $180 diagnostic fee I had agreed to, I was charged another $200--$100 to drain the Freon and $100 to recharge it. This made no sense, as I had clearly communicated to both Robert and Jonathan that the Freon had already been drained the day prior. When I questioned the extra fees, I was told it was because "the mechanic had to roll the machine over and hook it up." I've never heard of such a petty justification for labor fees. And to be clear, there was no repair, only a diagnosis. Robert later claimed he did me a favor by waiving the recharge fee since "it didn't work anyway," and they had already determined that wouldn't fix the issue. But the fact remained: I had paid $300 and received no resolution; only inflated charges and poor treatment. To make matters worse, I was told that only half of the diagnostic fee would have gone toward the actual repair had I chosen to proceed. So, no matter what I decided, I was still losing money. After all was said and done; I left with no repairs, no real help, and a strong sense that I had been disrespected and taken advantage of. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm sharing this because I believe others, especially women deserve to know what they might be walking into. What started as a seemingly professional and courteous experience quickly became one of the most frustrating encounters I've ever had with an auto repair shop. I left feeling unheard, powerless, and deeply disappointed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would not recommend Honest -1 Auto Care to anyone, particularly women. I thought they would turn me away being so close to closing time but they were happy to help diagnose/fix my issue.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They quickly ran a diagnostic test and determined it was indeed my battery and not my alternator. Michael and Kimera helped replace my battery in a total of 10 minutes and were great at their jobs. Patty and Robin were great in customer service and even fixed me a goodie back full of snacks/soft drinks for the road trip, I even got free roadside assistance for the road trip I was going on since it came with the battery I purchased which gave me peace of mind. The last time I went there, they told me I needed a coolant change and quoted me at $230. Come today I'm at a different shop, and they said I don't need a coolant change until 80,000-100,000 miles and were gonna quote me $120 if I did end up getting a coolant flush. Sure they'll tell you what the codes are, but that's about all they'll be honest about. I'm a young woman so of course I'm likely to be manipulated which is what happened. My car had been smelling like gas and I wanted to get it looked at before anything was done. They were able to tell me the codes that came up but they mentioned it would be a lot of money to fix. Keep in mind this car is from 2004 with dents, cracked window shield, and almost 200,000 miles on it. An old car near the end of it's life I don't want to put too much money into it when I know it doesn't have a lot of years left. Instead of them respecting what I wanted to do with my car and my money, they tried to scare me into getting my car fixed. The front desk lady with her dog told me, "Ooohh! It's so hard to buy cars these days and I know someone who just sold a car for $700 a month! It'll be cheaper to get this fixed here!" Here's some context, I'm a college student so I'm not getting brand new diesel cars, I also know where to look and just the night before I had come across used cars no accidents for under $300 a month. When I said, mmm no I think I can find something else, she continued to say, "well, if your car smells like gas, someone could simply light a match and you and your car could go up in flames!" Listen, I know they're salesmen, but you can be respectful to the customer's wishes and not be rude and try to scare them, it's just unprofessional. I also mentioned that my grandpa knew some things about cars and maybe I would have him look at it if it was going to be thousands of dollars to fix up. She told me, "Ohh your grandpa he wouldn't know what our mechanics know, everything is so technologically advanced these days." Lady, it's a 2004. I should be able to go to a shop and have them check for any codes, and if I decide not to have them fix it, I shouldn't be scared that I won't be able to find a car (because that's just not realistic) and if my car really would burst into flames the last thing I would do is put a ton of money into a car that doesn't have much of a life in it. I should be able to walk away with my wishes respected and not pushed and not manipulated. I recommend that they learn more about how to be better salesman and not prey after customers that are young and may not know too much. Basically, be a decent person? Idk just a thought read more

It was my first visit for an oil change and state inspection. My husband had oil change and tire rotation. Service was excellent . Staff was great-courteous, professional and personable. The waiting area was impeccable with snacks and kids play area. Prices were very fair. We will definitely return for all our car car needs. I usually never leave reviews, but I wanted to leave one after my experience with Honest 1 this morning. I had a light come on in my car yesterday and made an appointment for someone to look at it this morning. But, before I got to my appointment, the light was off. I told them I wasn't sure what to do and they immediately ran a quick diagnostic for me at no charge. Looks like my car is good for now, and they told me to just come back if anything changes. I was in and out in 3 minutes! This could have been an opportunity for most autoshops to take advantage -- and they, true to their name, didn't. I'll 100% come back if i need anything. Today I went to get my inspection and oil changed, expecting the same bad service I've received at any auto shop since I was 16 because I have NEVER been anywhere that serviced my car that treated me with kindness and respect. Today that changed! Honest 1 treated me like a queen. Endless snacks and drinks. Comfy waiting area. Free WiFi. Kind and knowledgeable employees that spoke to me like a human being not some "dumb girl that doesn't know anything about cars". It was refreshing to be treated with great customer services, especially in an industry where that is so rare for women. I appreciated that they showed me my filters instead of just telling me I need new ones. They went over all the items I will need in the future but didn't push me to do the work today. The honest truth about Honest-1 Car Care My mother took her van to Honest-1 on Windhaven in Lewisville (The Colony) for a transmission problem, and subsequently for a state inspection. There was a problem with what happened that I won't go into, but in short, we had to take the van to another shop. My belief is that the H-1 mechanic that worked on my mother's van was not competent and not honest. Unfortunately, while the van was at the other shop, my mother suddenly died, so I had to resolve this issue on behalf of her estate. I brought the problem with what had happened to the attention of the owner and her son. They were apologetic and refunded the money for the transmission work. I don't know for sure what happened with the mechanic, but he is no longer there. I found the owner and her son to be very HONEST people. The owner has a nice story about why she started her business. Ask her about it when you take your vehicle to them for some honest work. read more

This is the nicest waiting room for a car shop I've ever been in and I've worked here while waiting for my car multiple times. The staff are lovely. They are super clear when explaining things and never try to upsell you. They'll tell you if work should be done now or later and even provide a third party website to explain the problems so you can check what they're saying you need, for yourself. Bonus points for the snacks, nail salon next door to this location, and cute dog sometimes at the front desk! I don't think I'll take my car anywhere else and I recommend them to everyone. read more

I needed my radiator replaced along with my condenser due to a collision. They quoted me at $1,600 for a radiator and bracket replacement and once they added the condenser and engine cooling it brought it to $3,500. I then went to the actual dealership for my car and they quoted me at $1,100 for everything, without warranty coverage. A trashcan more closely resembles my experience here than 1-Star. Not only did Honest-1 Auto Care manage to waste 2 1/2 hours of both mine and my fiancé's Tuesday (on a seemingly slow day), but also extorted $25 from us in the process for performing little to no service at all. The capitalist in me implores each and everyone of you reading this to take your vehicle to any other auto shop possible. I'm new to the area and was looking for a auto shop close to home to call mine for the indefinite future and come to this place with the simple task of getting a state inspection done for my Land Rover, BUT NO. This proves too difficult. After being told that my car sat there for two hours and the only thing that happened was someone glanced at the dashboard and saw a light was on and nothing further happened, I asked what the light was for? I was met with a blank stare (I know that the light has been in for over 2 years and never produced any codes), they had done NOTHING in 2 hours. So we waited another 30 minutes for them to follow through with my request to see what may have caused the light to be on. Wouldn't you know, the old Rover failed to produce any codes at all. Who woulda thought? BUT WAIT, there's more! Now, after all this, guy behind the counter informs me they can't do the inspection, because the light that showed nothing was wrong with the car was on. LASTLY, when you thought it couldn't get any worse, we still were going to pay for them to glance at the dashboard or we couldn't drive away. Thankfully, it was only a spark plug that needed to be swapped out. They were honest, nice, and the waiting room is the best waiting room I've ever been in for an auto shop. I can't comment on the service as I never got my car in for service. I made a 12pm appointment and when I showed at 11:55am I was told they were backed up and wouldn't be able to get me in, at all, for the rest of the day. What, then, is the point of taking appointments? The people in the office didn't seem to care other than being surprised that no one called me to inform me or reschedule the appointment. Service might be great, but I'll never know. I will take my vehicles to places that honor appointments and do the work requested. read more

Super sad, I really enjoyed this place while it lasted. I have always made it a point to come here and only here since they opened. They've always taken great care of me there but won't be coming back after today. I've never had to make an appointment and went today for an oil change, they said it'll be a little wait about an hour and a half. I agreed since it was 11:30 AM and it was still early. An hour later, I noticed they hadn't even started. Hour and a half later, still nothing. Nearing two hours and my car still hadn't moved. I had to ask for my keys and leave. In the past they even offered to take me home and pick up me, not today. I waited nearly two hours for nothing but a car that still needs an oil change. I guess all good things must come to an end. Now I gotta find a new place for an oil change Update: Robin (the owner) personally just went out of her way to make it right. She called me shortly after and apologized multiple times and really brought back the customer service I was used to with her company. Not only did she take me home and pick me up, she was kind enough to take care of my oil change after the hiccup this morning. Was here for an oil change and was presented a list of things they recommended that I get done of $955. I did 1 of the items they recommended and got my oil changed, then took my car down the road to another mechanic for a second opinion. They didn't find anything wrong with my car, even when told specifically what to look for, other than my engine oil was too high, which was just changed at Honest, which could harm my car. Yes, they have a nice waiting area and snacks, nice people at the counter, but think about how they're paying for it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Very disappointing experience. My wife had an engine light appear and was told the catalytic converter needed replacing, fair enough. She was initially told it would be just under a thousand, fair enough. Upon taking the car in and also working from home that day to get the work done, she later received an email saying the work would be just under one thousand six hundred, quite a suprising jump in price! However, upon learning this we called other garages looking for like for like quotes, all coming to the one thousand two hundred mark, saving over three hundred dollars. When we told them we would take the car elsewhere my wife received a call back saying there was a mistake on the price etc. I then called back to clarify and was told by Danny that he'd told Miguel that a certain part wasn't needed and there'd been a misunderstanding. I explained that the other quotes we received were including this part as we'd asked for like for like quotes, much to Dannys frustration. He then told me our car was in bits and he'd call and tell us when we would be allowed to pick up our car!?!? In defence of the company, my wife immediately went to pick up the car and Danny obviously had time to calm down and was polite enough.....the car wasn't in bits as threatened, phew. I really don't think we will be back and will be warning others of the underhand sales tactics, such a shame as it initially started as a pleasant experience. read more

When those occasions have become necessary take the vehicle elsewhere, I take them to Honest-1. I've always had a good experience with this business and they done a good job with providing an initial estimate, providing options and completing the work. To this point I haven't been disappointed and would recommend them if you're looking for shops to consider. read more

I walked in and there were 3 people being taken care of at the counter. A gentleman acknowledges me and says someone will be right with me. The manager comes out of the back office to greet me and take my info and car. I left to eat lunch and a guy called me 20 min later to update me and ask questions about the exact service I needed performed. When I returned, the same guy that I talked to walked up to me and said it would be another 10 min as they were just finishing up. I then asked for the techs to do 2 more things to my car. The guy replied "not a problem - give me 15 min and I will have your car ready to go". I waited for 12 min and the guy DID NOT yell my name behind the counter. He walked right up to me - handed me my keys and said he would meet me at the register when I was ready. Now, here comes the best part. For an oil change and 2 new filters plus labor and tax, it was $76.24!!! That is the easiest money I've spent on my car and not felt robbed, lied to, or cheated.
