My husband and I were extremely excited to try this steak house and were left underwhelmed unfortunately. We got the Soul Belly as an appetizer, if you're looking to pay about $20 for 4 bite size pieces of pork belly on a massive bed of collar greens than order up! The flavor and presentation are severely lacking. My husband ordered the bone in ribeye steak cooked medium with Au Poivre, he said this was the first time he had ever been to a steakhouse and felt the need to add pepper to his steak. I ordered the Mixed Grill, trio of wild game cooked rare +. The flavors were good but the buffalo filet that they claim you can cut with a butter knife is a far cry from that, I struggled cutting it with my steak knife. Our waiter walked by our table numerous times without acknowledging or even looking over at us almost as if we weren't there, I had to flag a bus boy to box up our food. It was extremely loud where I could hardly hear my husband, we will not be returning to this restaurant and sadly don't recommend it as we did not have a pleasant experience.

Y.O is amazing from the incredible service , to the mouth watering food .My husband and I stopped by and had dinner at the bar and watched the World Cup , Argentina and Cape Verde were playing .Y.O has a great set up to watch the World Cup and unlike a lot of other places they have no cover charge and they have not raised their prices during the World Cup.We like to sit at the bar and the bartender Joel always goes above and beyond and makes us feel welcome and provides great service as well as helps us with drink recommendation's .The Food was incredible as usual , we had Venison Rolls which are a must and we shared a Rib Eye and enjoyed mashed potatoes and bacon wrapped Brussels Sprouts .Also amazing drinks !I really appreciate that we were also able to see a great game in such enjoyable surroundings.I highly recommend not only during the World Cup but any dat of the year .You will be treated like family and will look forward to coming again .

Y.O. is the quintessential Dallas steakhouse. Two words Absolutely Amazing. My son was in Dallas on business and decided to try Y.O. and had the filet which was one of the best ever. This is a must visit steak house in Dallas!

Food, service and ambience all give stars. Waitress gave excellent recommendations with the venison bites and buffalo fillet. Really unique dishes and experience , leave feeling healthy and full. Manager James came to talk to us too and topped off the experience by making sure everything was great. Highly recommend this Texas steakhouse!

After exploring Dallas I was hungry and looking for a good meal. Luckily for me, this place was right around the corner. I walked in around 5 o'clock on a Sunday. I was by myself, but I was seated immediately. I believe my server's name was Paul and he was amazing. Absolutely a great server so personable, had so many great suggestions, just wonderful. I started with a margarita and some cheese balls, I believe they're pimento cheese balls. Both were delicious and I highly recommend the cheese pull in the cheese balls was unmatched! For my meal, I ordered the fried lobster roll. The dish served exactly what it said. It was in the description and the first three bites were amazing but after that, I started to want just a regular lobster roll and not the texture of the fried lobster anymore. So 100% this dish is what it says it is and I still think it's worth ordering. I just don't think it's something I would order again. The menu at Y.O. Steakhouse is huge and so many dishes came out that looked incredible. I would absolutely come back if I go back to Dallas for a trip. It's also super conveniently located by some other places where you could grab a drink afterwards or some shops where you could peek in and get a cowboy hat or boots also, it's not too far from the JFK assassination Museum.

Wife and I just had our new years eve dinner here and it was outstanding. Our waitress was Megan, and she was a great, she answered all our questions , gave us info on certain meals, and gave us some good advice on ordering sides. My drink (revolver old fashioned) was exceptionally made and tasted great. For appetizer I had the Shrimp & Grits, the gravy was so very very good and the grits were excellent, I will need to go back and order that for an entrée, YES it was that good. For an entrée I had the Surf and Turf. The steak was cooked the exact medium that I wanted it and the chicken fried lobster was very moist and tender. For dessert the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake was a little on the very sweet side, but was also really good. The dinner was pricey, but we really enjoyed our meal and look forward to returning.

Found this place on Yelp as a top rated steakhouse in Dallas. I visited on a Sunday evening without a reservation. To my surprise the place was pretty empty. My guest and I were seated immediately. I ordered a margarita/martini that came out pretty quickly. We ordered the ribeye to share plus a side of Brussel sprouts. We added the bone marrow butter (I believe) and it added a GREAT flavor. I was a little disappointed in the Brussel sprouts (took away one star), as I felt they were pretty flavorless. They seemed to be cooked in bacon and had bacon on them, but they lacked any flavor outside of salt, butter and pepper. The inside of the building was nice and relatively clean. It wasn't what I would ideally think of as a "steakhouse" based on the menu prices. Theh prices were a little higher compared to the way the establishment looked, but it wasn't dirty or unclean, just not as fancy as the prices would suggest. Overall the customer service was really good and steak was amazing. Had the sprouts been more flavorful I would've gladly given 5 stars but they definitely took away from the enjoyment. I would be open to returning and maybe trying a different side next time instead.

    Berry Blast Mocktail

I recently had the chance to visit Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse for dinner and it was a wonderful experience! We started the night with drinks and I had the Berry Blast mocktail per our waiter's recommendation. It was refreshing and tasted like fresh blueberries rather than being artificial. For our appetizers, we had the Texas Hill Country Quail Medallions and Y.O. House Salad. The quail medallions were excellent. They were tender, flavorful and I definitely understood why they are a popular choice. The salad was also very good, I particularly enjoyed the candied pecans and goat cheese, it was a classic. For our entrées, we ordered the Prime Ribeye and Prime New York Strip steaks, medium rare and medium well. Both were cooked perfectly. We also specified to include the Bone Marrow Butter on top of the steaks, which was absolutely my favorite part of the night! I highly recommend adding it to your steak to give it that extra flavor and richness. For our sides, we spilt the Gouda Mac & Cheese and the Mashed Potatoes. The potatoes were very good and a classic side dish for a steakhouse. The mac and cheese however was another one of my favorite parts of the night! It comes with large pasta shells, delicious cheese and a layer of thicker cheese on top. I absolutely loved it! Lastly, for our dessert, we had the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake and White Chocolate Macadamia NutBread Pudding. The cheesecake was made very well but the caramel flavor was particularly strong for my tastes. I understand that the dulce de leche flavor is caramel but I believe it would have been better as a plain cheesecake with caramel drizzle versus caramel cheesecake with caramel drizzle. The bread pudding was absolutely delicious! It was warm, served with a massive scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. It was a great way to end the meal. Overall, I had a great experience and meal here. Our waiter, Jorge, was wonderful, took care of us and gave us great recommendations. I look forward to coming back sometime soon! Thank you!!

    Retirement dinner for 16.

Cannot say enough about the extraordinary service and food our group of 16 enjoyed at a well-loved co-worker's retirement dinner on Monday evening. Michael was wonderful to work with in the planning - very responsive and accommodating! Neesie absolutely took the best care of our every need during the dinner - was personable, detail-oriented, and a true partner in pulling off an amazing evening. I unfortunately did not get the name of our in- room (I believe we were in The Lodge) bartender, but she did a fantastic job! Krystle, the GM introduced herself upon my arrival and then checked back in on our group to ensure our needs were met. Thank you all for making the evening absolutely perfect! Could not have asked for more. Kim Wilson-Kaufman

    Texas Hill Country Quail Medallions
    Allyson B.

We had such a great time at this steakhouse! Kicked things off with the quail medallions - tender, flavorful, and topped with a rich, savory gravy that made them even better. For mains, we sampled a little bit of everything: the prime burger on brioche bun (juicy and packed with great flavor), a fresh and hearty steak Cobb salad, and the fried lobster roll sandwich on a brioche hoagie bun - which was every bit as rich and delicious as it sounds. The crispy fries on the side sealed the deal. On top of all that, the service was absolutely phenomenal -- friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Great food, great atmosphere, and we will definitely be back!

    Ribeye
    Zain P.

I had a great experience at Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse in Dallas. If you're looking for a classic Texas steakhouse with a unique twist, this place really stands out. The ribeye is the highlight for me and easily one of the best things on the menu. It's cooked perfectly and has incredible flavor. What makes this spot even more interesting is that they offer a wide variety of wild game like venison, elk, buffalo, and other meats you don't see at most steakhouses, which makes it a fun place to try something different if you're feeling adventurous. Overall it's a great place for a big steak dinner and a true Texas style dining experience. The staff is friendly and explains the menu very well. The ambiance is super TEXAN so you must try if you're in the area!

Wow! Really enjoyed our meal at Y.O. Steakhouse. Our server, Melissa was really great. She was super attentive, anticipated our needs and was friendly as well. Couldn't have been better - which makes it easy to write a great review and recommend Y.O. Steakhouse 100%. The steaks were done to perfection and the sides were really tasty. The atmosphere is very Texas steakhouse so exactly what we were looking for - highly recommend.

Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse

Is the "buffalo" steak from an American bison?

Yes, we get it from Comanche Buffalo from Lawton Oklahoma

Are there gluten-free options? Gluten (even from soy, Worcestershire, or teriyaki sauces) can cause my wife problems.

Yes, The majority of the menu. Just tell the server, Tony

Do they have a kids menu or kids options?

I want to say no, but the meals can be divided between adult and child

Trying to plan a trip now. Would anyone consider this restaurant low key? We are okay with spending the money but don't want to be in a pretentious environment like other places I've read about for a great steak.

Wife and I ate there in shorts and t-shirts. Maybe a little under dressed but not turned away.

I see that the 38oz tomahawk ribeye is priced at market rate, does anyone know the ballpark/average price?

Tonight it was $99 and we were advised to expect 10oz of bone. I had the 20oz ribeye instead and it was flawless.

Great location. Amazing service. Phenomenal food. We were out and about so I surprised my wife for lunch at her favorite spot. We pull up to valet and are greeted with a smile. Greeted again as we enter the breathtaking lobby, a common photo-op for date nights and family gatherings. We walk through the bar to the receptionist, "reservation?" "No maam, we're just dropping in." "Two of you?" "Yes maam!" "Great follow me." We get a romantic booth on the wall with a view of the windows and the kitchen. There's several groups having business lunches and in front of us the two cutest ladies who have probably been best friends for 50+ years having lunch and celebrating one of their birthdays. We're greeted again by one of our servers who takes drink orders. We both order sparkling water with lime, and I also ask for iced tea. I ask the waiter "is it a brewed flavored tea by chance?" "No sir. It's a black tea." I reply, "you guys used to serve the most amazing ginger peach tea of which I became quite the connoisseur." He replies, "oh we still offer that through out the hotel. I'll get you a glass." "Really?!?! That would be perfect!" He then returns with our drinks and brings out their famous breads and butter. They are all incredible, but my personal favorite is the jalapeño cornbread. It's a game changer! He informs us it's restaurant week, which we've always heard of but never taken part in one. Three course meal, includes dessert, for $39 per person. Their offer is some of their top hits so we're stoked! We both get a cup of their world famous Dean's tortilla soup. It's non-negotiable. You've got to get it. We then added a Southwest Caesar salad to share, not part of the offer, which they split into two plates without us asking. Next the entrees come out. I got the Dr Pepper braise Rosewood Ranch Short Ribs with 'Loaded' Whipped Potatoes, Glazed Heirloom Carrots and Crispy Tobacco Onions. When I say this was a game changer and not to be missed, I can emphasize it enough. This entree is probably Dean's most popular and for good reason. Funny enough, while the short rib is a game changer, the sides should have won a Grammy for best supporting role. They were incredible. I saved a piece of the cornbread just to sop up my lunch and proudly gave myself a pat on the back for such a stellar idea. My wife had the Apricot Glazed Bay of Fundy Salmon on Field Pea Salad, Pepita Pesto and Buttermilk Fried Okra. She couldn't stop talking about it. Admittedly, I'm not a salmon fan, but it was very good. Once again the okra and sides were a showstopper. NOTE: one of our favorite things about Fearing's is their French pressed pot of coffee. It's exceptional. So without hesitation, knowing we probably couldn't finish a glass due to our existing gluttony, we didn't give up like a bunch of sissies, no we pressed on. It's a marathon, not a sprint. We got our pot of coffee and await the pièce de résistance, dessert! For Dessert, I had Granny Fearing's Banana Pudding with Toasted Meringue and Cinnamon Sugar Beignets. OMG! So good it will make you kiss yo momma! Seriously, if you've given up too early and missed this special treat then you've got to man up and stay the course, the third course. Again, it's a marathon so stay focused, don't overindulge and devour everything. To go bags are totally acceptable. My wife had a dessert I haven't seen before, but she absolutely loved hers. It's was a s'mores chocolate cakes with a chocolate ganache warm sauce poured over. While the presentation left us speechless, the flavor exceeded our already high expectations. To put icing on the cake, one of the managers brought me another brewed peach tea and we discussed how much I love it and that the company was purchased by Starbucks and ceased to exist. Fearings and several others used to use them and I could spot it in an instant. I told her I purchased a stash before they went out of business. She then told me the brand they use and even came back and surprised me with a sealed bag of the tea leaves to brew at home. THAT is the typical every day experience everyone has at Fearings and THAT's WHY WE KEEP COMING BACK. If we were offered one last meal, our family would choose Fearings. We come here just because, for birthday's, anniversaries, business, and any other time we can find an excuse. It's simply the best!

The pretzel with beer cheese came out cold which I wasn't expecting. The flavor of the beer cheese was not great and I couldn't finish it. The ambience inside is very lively and fun and I love all of the decor. The service was very slow and not the friendliest.

When inquiring, our waitress had no clue of the wines being offered and there are not that many; and while I do not complain about prices typically, $18.00 for a 6oz serving of their top German 'Spatlese' is....... I had Weinerschitzel (sic) and my wife had duck; her duck was excellent, but was served in an appetizer portion while my veal was more than ample, but unremarkable......the potato pancakes were hockey puck sized and about as tough..... of the meal was the purple cabbage-believe it or not!! For a German Restaurant that features an ample menu of desserts-no one asked, so we did not bother! They have been in business for 32 years and the business has sticky tables (at least ours did) and is just plain tired......it is really a beer bar that serves mediocre food-SAD!!

It's located in a small strip shopping center that almost looks like it's attached to a church. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We've tried the regular beef and the buffalo burgers (burgers are huge - hubby and I usually split one), tator tots - it's a huge portion with plenty to share and the Mama's fruit pies are to die for! So far, we've tried the tri-berry, blueberry, strawberry, cherry, apple and peach. My goal is to try them all! We usually order "to-go" so we reheat up the pies a little bit (again sharing one cuz they're big) and add a little bit of vanilla ice cream - delicioso!! You can't make a wrong decision when ordering off of their menu! Be sure to grab some meat from the butcher case for your grilling pleasure. Everything we've ever ordered is delicious. LOVE this place!!!

What an experience. I dined at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse for my first dinner after landing in Dallas…read moreand it set an impossibly high bar for the rest of my meals during my Dallas trip. The food and service here is absolutely incredible. That said, given how pricey the meal is, you'll certainly want to reserve this meal for celebrations and special occasions. Between the four in our party, we shared the following: jumbo lump crab cakes ($36.95), prime tomahawk ($194.95), prime New York strip 14oz ($64.95), jumbo asparagus ($17.95), roasted wild mushrooms ($21.95), creamed spinach ($17.95), and a New York-style cheesecake ($18.00) for dessert to share. If you're a wine enthusiast, there's a Bible sized wine menu available here to thumb through. Our server made it a point to emphasize the scale and expansiveness of their wine list. The list goes on and on -- covering every imaginable region of the world and year, and as a casual wine drinker, I was simply overwhelmed. However, if you're looking for cocktails instead, any "standard" cocktail you can think of is available. I ordered an Old Fashioned and it was stiff, yet nicely balanced. Moving on to the food, I have never had crab cakes as good as the ones here -- this appetizer is a must order. Most crab cakes I've had have too much bread crumb fillers and tend to be a bit bland. The ones here contain generous amounts of large, chunky crab meat, are well-seasoned, and are perfectly fried. The tomahawk steak is a serious show-stopper. If there's one cut to order, it's this one. Carved table-side, you really get to appreciate the size and beauty of this cut of meat. The meat is expertly cut off from the bone, and I love the distribution of rendered fat on each piece of meat. Some steakhouses offer a bunch of different sauces and dips to go with the meat, but none of that is available here: you're here for the meat, and you can truly appreciate the flavor and quality of the dry-aged meat in its purest form. All you really need is some salt and you've got the perfect bite. The steak here is delicious; no notes. Although the steak is the clear star of the show at Pappas Bros., the sides cannot be skipped over (not that you'd want to, given how delicious everything sounds). I was tempted to order the large tower of golden onion rings that many other tables seemed to be ordering, but ultimately settled on some of the other vegetable offerings. The creamed spinach is rich and decadent. One order is easily enough for a group to share. The jumbo asparagus is honestly some of the longest and largest spears of asparagus I've ever seen. They had a nice snappy bite to them. Although you'll probably be absolutely stuffed by the end of your meal, I encourage you to order at least a dessert to split. Although I only had a chance to try the New York-style cheesecake, it's something I would happily order again. The gargantuan size of the slice of cheesecake is enough for a group of 8 to split. Like everything else on the menu, the cheesecake is rich. I appreciate that the cake itself was not overly sweet. The whipped cream on top was light and fluffy. If you're looking for a steakhouse in Dallas with quality food, drinks and service, look no further than Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. Closing note: there is no dress code that's enforced.

Hated it! I came for my birthday. During restaurant week, got the 3 course special…read more... Caesar salad, dry aged ny strip (sides included were mash potatoes and asparagus) & cheesecake for desert. I had to have my food redone TWICE!! I always get NY strip anywhere I go, the ny strip here was a little tough and they told me "oh it's normally a more firm piece of steak" as if I didn't know what I was ordering. SO ANNOYING! I sent the ny back and got a filet (bc it's more tender) I tried the filet & it was undercooked .. I asked for it to be cooked a little more ...he brought the plate back and EVERYTHING on the plate was overcooked ...the steak was almost well done and the asparagus was almost melting (my steak was supposed to be cooked MEDIUM) the mashed potatoes didn't have a lick of flavor The asparagus was hard. & I like my vegetables a little crunchy but these were more than that. The manager came over, he was really nice and he tried his best to correct the issues I had (kudos to him) But after a 2nd time of my food being remade...I didn't want a 3rd remake.. I just took the food to go and got my check! - again the server was so nice & the manager but the cooks couldn't seem to get the food right! This kinda ruined my birthday!
