SECRET: Sign on at 7:00:00 exactly 30 days before the day you want to go. Pick your time but don't be tardy. I'm told that bar seating is often available for walkups. Table seating as well some days. My guess is that is especially true when the weather is good. After all they would have to have extra table seating for those scheduled to dine in the unprotected garden. We ate out in the garden as is our preference. Went with the Khao Yum and Crispy Shrimp and would order again. No complaints at all. This is a superb dinning venue even for a group of six. Street parking can be tricky but doable.

I wouldn't really call this a supper club to be honest but the place definitely carries a house music bar vibe and the back bar area and seating is very dimly lit, perfect for cozying up and enjoying a drink late night. The ladies' room was so dark, I mistook it for a storage area because I could only make out a white ladder in the corner that was being used as cute shelving. The place is seat yourself. Our waiter was not super friendly and didn't offer to give us napkins or anything when our wobbly table caused our drinks to splash all over the place. The cook served our chicken with a big smile and happy interaction and we really loved his personality. The bartender also stopped by to bus our table and he was very pleasant as well. We enjoyed the perfectly fried small plate cauliflower with the plum sauce and the fried cheese/garlic wonton bites with the sriracha mayo spicy dipping sauce. The fried chicken breast on the large plate was slightly overcooked with a maple gochuchang sauce that was very bland. We were so thankful that the large plate fried chicken came with a side salad to offer some respite from the heaviness of the fried dishes. It would have been great to have some side acidic or fresh vegetable options like Kimchi or something. Maybe we tried the wrong dishes and there are other not fried things that are delicious? The dirty martini cocktail was just so-so, not really much flavor at all, but the mojito was very good and refreshing. It's probably a good late-night place for a bite and drink.

This was a combination that I did not expect to actually work, but it does. The bartender does an amazing job that very few in my experience have been able to do, which is blend the drink to where it is not just 90% alcohol and 10% whatever else. This allows you to really experience the drink and its fancy little name. Food: Entree - Godzilla: This was recommended by my waiter at the time because it was the first time ever that I have tried sushi and I was not disappointed. This dish was sooooo delicious. Dessert - Churro Cheesecake: What can I say? It's cheesecake and churros. Not a big fan of sweets, but I do love me a good cheesecake. Service: 5 / 5 - No complaints. Waiter was very attentive and made sure to check in periodically. He was very passionate about his job and provided strong recommendations with his opinion on the choices when asked. When he found out that this was my first time having sushi, he took the time to explain how the menu works, which I have horrible memory, but appreciate deeply. Wouldn't mind having him as a regular waiter in the future. Vibe: 4 / 5 - Restaurant and food presentation is very pretty, clean and aim to provide you with that "fancy restaurant" experience, that so many people have come to expect. It's a very chill vibe and lighting is not bad at all. Overall: 4 / 5 - Normally, I have a rule that I don't have ocean related dishes in an area where the ocean is not readily accessible. However, an acquaintance once said, "you have to have several mid dishes before you enjoy a really good dish" and she was right. Although, I wouldn't call social house mid. I enjoyed my experience overall and the staff was very friendly. The cost-food value is on the higher end, but in my opinion it was worth it. Definitely plan to return, and try other items on the menu. Recommend? Yes

I would have also appreciated a vegetable side that was included with the shrimp duo. Service was good - my family and I sat at the bar. Bartender was attentive and very nice.

Most bowls are rice, greens, and/or beans based with various vegetables for toppings. Heartier than a salad but healthier than Chipotle. I've gotten lunch there a few times and have always been satisfied. My favorite bowl is El Jefe, which comes with rice, kale, black beans, corn, red onion, avocado, and a protein topping (I like the miso tofu but you can also get chicken). The bowl also comes with cilantro/lime sauce, which I do not get because it's very salty. That's my one complaint about Roots - despite their healthy ingredients, their bowls can get quite saucy and salty if you go with the default options. This particular location is well-staffed, so service is usually quick, but it can get a rush of students around 12pm.

The bowl was good but I was a little disappointed in the portion. Roots is a little bit more expensive than other similar options but I usually don't mind as they often give me a very full bowl, but that wasn't the case with the Gary bowl. It was less full than the bowls I usually get along with being very heavy on the rice and not too much chicken or even the kale. Aside from that it was still yummy but I think I'll be going back to my regular order next time.
