    Black sticky rice with custard
    Ulyana K.

Very nice Thai restaurant! I wasn't aware of this spot until recently, so I'm very glad I found this gem. They have many of the classic Thai dishes for a reasonable price. I tried out their pad see ew with tofu and the black sticky rice with custard. The pad see ew was very good. They definitely loaded up this dish with tons of vegetables, including fresh broccoli, cabbage, carrots, and more! The noodles were perfectly cooked and they used quite a lot of sauce, which I like. A decent amount of egg, although I would have preferred a bit more. The black sticky rice with custard was near perfect. They had the lovely coconut to pour on top, which added a perfect hint of sweet and savory to it. The custard was perfect, the rice was delicious, it just really hit the spot. All in all, this is a great Thai spot. Both of the items I tried, the pad see ew and the black rice with custard, were delicious. Definitely recommend!

Delicious! I am usually very fond of Nicky's Thai Kitchen, but I moved into the area recently I was looking for a Closer Thai food option. This place does not disappoint. Everything was flavorful and fresh ! Service was on point as well!

    N51. Zapp Noodle Soup

The crispy spring rolls had a great crunch and paired well with the plum sauce. The sauce was thinner and a bit of a kick. The Zapp Noodle Soup with fried tofu and veggies is similar to pho with a simpler flavor, as there aren't as many spices. This is a Thai version of chicken noodle soup. The tofu held up well in the soup and was still firm. The veggies consisted of carrots, broccoli, and Chinese cabbage. I got spice level 3 and would bump that up one more if you want more of a kick. Perfect for a cold and rainy night.

On a scale of documentaries to romances, Thai Spoon is the novel Teal Paisley Tights with quirky and delightful flavors. Thai Spoon offers a decently-sized dining room, but our waiter Alexander is who truly made the experience extra marvelous. It was a slow night, and we had the dining room to ourselves though many stopped to pick up to-go. Try the Golden Triangle appetizers! On a whim, my partner and I ordered them, and they are the most delicious surprise of turmeric! We also enjoyed our entire meal, and we highly recommend the Salmon Mango Curry as well as the Spicy Duck! While parking can be a bother, it's not hard to find, and it's generally free around the dinner hour.

Beef noodle soup. Not pho. It was bland

This place is byob.m which is nice. I was craving pho but they didn't offer that so I got a beef noodle soup. It was bland, not much flavor for broth so I added some fish sauce and chili pepper to it and it was ok. I ordered pork toast but they didn't have any but still charged us. They did take it off. I asked for some hosin sauce and the waitress kept reminding me that it's not a Chinese or Vietnamese restaurant so they don't have some of the sauces I was asking for to make my noodles better. My friend ordered a tofu dish and she said she loved it but she ordered that every time she goes. I'm sure the waitress (Caucasian lady) was on some kind of drug lol but she was nice enough and assist when we needed her. I would try this place again but not order noodle soup from here.

This is my favorite Thai spot!!! I have tried the three major ones in Mt Lebanon / Dormont area and I loved this place ! The staff is extremely friendly- we ordered to-go but almost regretted not having the opportunity to be waited on after seeing the enjoyable way the staff interacted with their customers. The beef pad see ewe and shrimp pad Thai were awesome!!! They will bring on the spice if you ask. Small, quaint little place tucked into a cobblestone street in the Dormont area... but so worth it! Give it a try. Also, order an appetizer of crab Rangoon! You will not regret.

The worst Tom yum noodle soup I've ever had. Broth is sour & tastes absolutely nothing like any Tom yum I've had other places

After reading a couple reviews, I wanted to give Thai spoon a shot. I usually order from My Thai, but I thought we'd try something new for dinner. You know the saying if it's not broke, don't fix it? That's how I feel about my situation. Totally regretted ordering from Thai spoon. I can only speak for the delivery as I have never been to the actual restaurant, but man was it disappointing. The delivery also took longer than expected. I got a notification that my order had been picked up and on its way, but it took 25 minutes to get to my house when i live just a few blocks over. As for the food, thumbs down. I got the Tom yum and it was terrible. It tasted like hot sour water. I've had Tom yum many many other places so I can be certain it was not supposed to taste like that. I had to throw it away. My husband got one of the Curry's, which was supposed to have no peanuts, but did. He wasn't impressed with the flavor of it either. Conclusion... would I order from here again? Probably not. I will stick with My Thai, which is excellent!

Charged $1 for "not spicy". You have got to be kidding me...

Everything was so tasty, fresh, and cooked to perfection. Definitely the highlight of our experience! The decor felt like you're truly in Thailand. Unfortunately, the service was a bit subpar, at least with our server. We felt somewhat rushed throughout the meal, but thankfully, it didn't stop us from enjoying our food and conversation. The biggest surprise came when we received the check. Since it was my first time dining here, I didn't realize they automatically include a gratuity charge. For our party of three, a 20% gratuity was added. For reference: * Dine-in parties of 9 or fewer: 20% pre-tax gratuity * Dine-in parties of 10 or more: 25% pre-tax gratuity I would still recommend giving this place a try because the food is genuinely delicious. Just be sure to know about the automatic gratuity ahead of time so there are no surprises when the check arrives!

They served my friend chicken and insisted that it was pork! He doesn't eat chicken!! Story time!! We were in town for the Marathon weekend and tried to make a last minute resy. We got seated outside which was fine cuz we understand it was last minute). It was 40s outside and no heater in place... People seemed to come here for special events (we saw many grad parties or birthdays and date nights). We ordered noodles and curries. Huge portions that could serve 2 people per entree (or 1 very hungry runner per entree, which was the case for us). The food was tasty HOWEVER WE WERE GASLIT! My friend ordered his dish with pork and after a bite or two he realized it was chicken. We asked the waitress to send it back and she insisted it was pork (by this photo you can tell the top right dish's protein is the same as the chicken in the 2 curries...) and insisted that we were confused with curt demeanor... Service wise, we had multiple different waiters/ waitresses, one person seating us, another taking our order, another delivering the food, another filling the water, so it was very hard to communicate our concerns because it was one big telephone game. We didn't like the service, the outdoors dining area was cute and NOISY so don't plan on having conversations there. Parking was easy enough there were multiple garages nearby. Overall tasty food but we got the ick after being gaslit so probably won't come back.

We got there at 4:40 on a Saturday and they open at 5. I'd say that's a good sweet spot although there was already a decent line when we got there so I'm sure it just depends! Such a simple dish but I could eat a VAT of that Roti app once a week for the rest of my life and be better for it LOL. It's seriously so good I crave it constantly. I tried out the lemongrass meatballs this time. They were SO GOOD. Normally I need a thick sauce with a meatball idk it's just who I am. These needed absolutely nothing. They were the perfect texture and I loved the crispy shallots. I've actually never had Khao Soi and man I have been missing out! The meat was seriously so tender I could not get over it. The flavors were perfectly married it was a great dish. The crispy shrimp was also amazing the pieces were massive and the SAUCE (lol) was so good. Pusadee's knows what they're doing. We had a horrible culinary experience the past couple of days driving through West Virginia, Ohio, and western New York. Pittsburgh was our last stop before heading home and Kiin Lao and Thai Eatery made up for all of the culinary disappointment this weekend. Let's talk about the ambiance first. Everything about this restaurant was quite beautiful. When I say beautiful, I don't mean it in an elegant way, but an artsy street vibe way. It is hip, clean, and we'll put together. You can tell a lot of love went into the decorations and into every piece of art on its walls. The service was pretty good. The server herself was attentive when needed and left us alone when needed. The food was AWESOME. We got the papaya combo with the Thum Mak Houng option, curry puffs, grilled pork shoulder with sticky rice, and Pad Gra Prow Street Style. The papaya was "lao-style" made with fermented shrimp paste. If you love deep umami flavors, this is it for you. The papaya salad was pungent and sour and savory spicy and just so satisfying. We asked for a 6/10 spiciness and they came with the heat. The chicken skewers that came with it was flavorful too. A little bit of char on the chicken would've brought it over the top. The curry puffs were so comforting and had that south Asian flavor profile that was very welcomed. The curry and spice blend did not overwhelm the potatoes. Instead it enhanced the earthy potato flavors in the best way possible. The menu said that it came with a cucumber sauce but I don't think we got that. What we got was a more like a honey sauce. The sauce was good in itself but didn't pair well with the puffs. The grilled pork shoulder was delectable. The meat was tender and it was seasoned perfectly. Again, more char on the meat would've brought it to a new level. The only gripe I have with this order was the sticky rice. The amount of sticky rice you get with it was so small I thought it was a joke initially. Nope, it was not! I thought the Pad Gra Prow Street Style was OKAY. I would've made it a little saucier. Despite this, my significant other absolutely LOVED it. Pad Gra Prow was my significant other's favorite dish when she lived overseas. She said that this was the best Pad Gra Prow she has had on this side of the world. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We would definitely come by again when we are back this way.
