Visited as a party of 4 for hibachi on a weeknight . Did not have to wait long for the table to fill up. The chef came out about 5 minutes after we were seated. He was very amicable and generous with the sake that night! As a treat, I got steak and scallops. The steak was good but the texture of the scallops were a little off...I couldn't quite put my finger on it, I'm thinking maybe it was over cooked. I've been here quite a few times in the past 6 months and have been very pleased with the friendly waitstaff, excellent adult beverages, and food. The food is delicious and nicely presented. Because it's so good, I'm never afraid to try something new. I've had many items on their "cooked" sushi menu (I won't eat raw anything) and it's been delicious. My first Saki was from here! The Polka Dot Riesling is awesome as well as the martinis! And it goes without saying, it's about time a beautifully decorated, upscale restaurant moves into N. Smithfield -- and even better -- a Japanese one! This place could easily be picked up and dropped in Providence and fit right in with its upscale competitors. It's just great to know, you don't have to go into Providence to get such an upscale meal. read more

The specialty rolls are so good that we ordered a secind round. We got the princess roll and the godzilla and they were crunchy and soft at all the right times. The hibachi was good too. The cook put on a great show and was very attentive as well as accomodating to my mothers food preferences. He even took some empty plates away while the server was busy. He was enthusiastic about his job and very entertaining. The food was well seasoned, the only thing that could have been better was the rice. Although the flavor was perfect, the rice was still a little undercooked and crunchy. The salmon and shrimp were cooked just right though. Our drinks were strong but still tasty and the server was still efficient even though she had 3 other groups she was tending to. I would definitly go back. We went here for the hibachi with a total of 7 people in our party. Although the bill was large around $300 we did have some drinks. This food was just flat out amazing. everything had flavor and you left feeling clean full and not like you just ate at a like a Chinese buffet. Bottom line when everything is cooked in front of you and it tastes so darn good.. It is well worth the money! read more

As you see in my previous posts from 2 years ago, this place used to be amazing. Recent update. Went here a few months back....awful. Won't ever go back again. I don't even think it deserves one star. The scallops were rancid, yet they did not believe us. The beers we ordered-first of all took forever, and then they were warm, so we sent them back. The staff was not very friendly at all that night. Cell phones out, not really engaging in conversations with us like they normally do. We just cannot get over the scallops being rancid. We didn't even eat them. Still paid full price tho. Won't be going back. read more

I went here with my girlfriend on Saturday night at about 9 PM. Unfortunately there isnt much around this area so you have limited options. When we arrived there were only 3 tables in use but the still they put us in a corner next to a table of 10. After being seated we waited about 10 minutes before finally going to the bar and asked for a drink and some service. The manager eventually sent someone over. Another odd observation was that one entree was brought 5+ minutes before the other one arrived. Typically you expect the meals to come out at the same time so you can eat together but apparently this was not the case. The food was good, but the service is poor. I would suggest spending the extra time and go into the city if you want good service and good food. read more

I came here on Saturday night with a group of my friends (2 of which were pregnant). We had a dinner reservation at 7:30pm and we didn't sit down at our table until a little after 8. I can understand this, as it was busy in there, but no one came up to us to let us know (we had to keep going over there to check on the status). Once we were finally seated, no one came over to greet us, get us drinks, etc. After 20 minutes, we finally grabbed another waitress walking by to see if she could bring us some water. Our server barely came over to check on us, it took forever to order actual drinks and then dinner. We waited until a little before 10pm before our chef came over to our table for dinner! By this time, the restaurant and room were empty and they were starting to clean up. The only thing that saved the overall experience was our chef (Jimmy). He was funny, friendly and kept us entertained! By the time dinner was over and I was back in my car to head home, it was 11pm. I don't think I will be back. read more

They make pretty good food. A little pricey, but still good.

This is my go-to sushi place nearby. While the interior is a little too dark for my liking, I tend to get take out and the food is always delicious. I love the sushi rolls (spicy tuna, salmon avocado and shrimp tempura are my faves) and vegetable tempura and the prices aren't bad either. The few times that I have eaten in or sat at the bar, the service has been solid. They do seem to have a rather high turnover rate employee wise but as long as the service remains decent, it's no concern to me. Again, if you're looking for fresh sushi at a reasonable price in North Smithfield, Yama Fuji is your place. read more

First of all, I got terribly sick after I ate from there. Secondly, the waitress has terrible attitude. I regret I alway paid her good tip so much. It is the worst experience in my life for far. We were out and about and wanted to try a new place so we stopped here for lunch. So very glad we did!! They had the best pad Thai my husband and I had in a long time. We had the beef. My husband also had dumplings for an app and I had spring rolls. Good size portions! We will definitely be back to try out the sushi. read more

Been to this restaurant twice WHICH WAS 2 TIMES TWO MANY . . 2nd chance given because 1st time they just opened and i chaulked up the bad service and mediocer food to being new . The 2nd time the food was nothing to rant about we ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp combo (THEY NEVER BROUGHT THE soup, & salad, GAVE SMALL AMOUNT OF fried rice, and vegetables. I also tried a spicy wonton tuna roll. It was small and not worth the money. We told th waitress we never recieved the soup or salad she tried to do the right thing and charge us for a lunch combo only but the the manager rerurned with a different check for a larger amount and said she "messed up and he is pisseed"! Unprofessional management, over priced, small portion blah food VERY disappointed never will go there again and I would never recomment it to anyone!. read more

Favorite place to go but it is very close to me. A bit pricey but well worth it. Hibachi is the same show you get anywhere else. The gem to this place is the specialty sushi rolls in my opinion. They do a broader range of Asian cuisine than just one type also. read more

Everytime I go here, it is packed! I usually get takeout, and have been really impressed lately! Got the seafood udon noodle dish, sexy salmon, and the fried pork roles- all delicious! They get you in and out of there fast if you are picking up. Definitely convenient to have right down the street! read more

I've been here once before for the hibachi grill and it was great. Tonight on the other hand was far from that. I was in the mood for some sushi tonight so i came into the bar. I sat there for 5 minutes without the bartender ever approaching me. I tried to get her attention but she wouldn't even make eye contact with me. All the while, talking to the people sitting directly beside me. I understand if you're busy. At least acknowledge the person and tell them you'll be with them shortly. I didn't even get that. I liked this spot. The inside, whether you do the hibachi area or just the regular seating, it really is nicely done in here. I did NOT do the hibachi, as I came with a small group for lunch, so we sat at a table near the front. The waitress was great and attentive. She brought each item out separately, which was a bit weird because some people were eating their full meal while others just had a soup or just a water at our table. It makes it awkward because it's rude to eat your food when others don't have theirs. Other than that, they have fair prices for food and the sushi is pretty good. They were really great about the seafood allergy we had, which is super important and makes us a return customer! The alcohol is pretty good, and I'd recommend trying out their cocktail menu, for sure! My miso soup was so refreshing, I could have gone there just to sip on it all day. The downfall, was the seasoning on my scallops. It tasted like someone went to put a little pepper on them, but the cap fell off. I mean, all I tasted was an overwhelming amount of pepper on these things. I don't know if they were just not fresh and they were trying to mask that with pepper, or if the cap actually did fall off the pepper shaker (LOL) I don't know, but either way, there was way too much pepper. It does get busy in there, and rightfully so. I may just have gotten unlucky with my scallops, but luckily I ordered more than just that! read more

Great meal, good service but the evening was spoilt when I was informed they would take a 20% cut of the $50 prepaid debit card I wanted to use in partial payment. That's right, my card would only cover $40 of the bill. Went for the first time last night and it was just ok. We had a small group at the grill and when we got there around 6:30 it was pretty busy. The pros were our cook was Jimmy who was hilarious, kept us entertained. Food was decent (I still prefer Koto any day) and drinks were as well. There were quite a few cons, missing food from our order which we were told would be credited on the bill (it wasn't), slow, slow service- we ordered a second round of drinks from the bar ourselves because we couldn't find our waitress for half an hour, my ears are still ringing from the gong they bring out for birthdays- 3 that night yay!!!, and apparently the place is dead by 10pm because they were sweeping around our table waiting for us to leave (sign says they close at 11 on Saturdays btw.) There are not many hibachi restaurants in northern RI, so with limited choices this will do. read more
