Yama is pretty damn good. I dined there for the first time about six weeks ago and have been back four times. I've not had a bad bite of food there. I already have a couple of favorites, so I'm slow to explore the menu. I have begun to work my way through their sushi rolls, even though I'm a neophyte, I've thoroughly enjoyed both of the rolls I've ordered. The staff has been very friendly and I love the privacy afforded by the private dining rooms. If you are in LaGrange and you have not tried Yama, you've got to be freaking kidding!!!! read more

Best Japanese food in the area. Went twice the first week in LaGrange. Excellent sushi. Relaxed atmosphere at a nice location on beautiful Main Street. Service was poor and the food was ok at best. The waitress made it a point to remind guests multiple times that she was new and didn't seem to know anything about the cuisine on the menu. The windows next to our table looked like they've never been cleaned. My husband ordered the beef bulgogi and it was so salty, he couldn't finish it. It took us reminding the waitress twice to bring the beer we ordered 15 minutes after we had ordered it. I had high hopes after reading the reviews. The restaurant is a very good addition to Main Street, but it's really just an decent Asian restaurant. That being said, the spicy tuna roll was pretty good. If you're really a sushi lover, I would ask them to skip topping it with sauce. read more

The sushi is delicious but the service is terrible. Our waiter did not write anything down, so the order was not right and when we asked about a particular roll he brought to our table, he didn't know what it was and proceeded to take it to a different table of customers. Come to find out, that roll was what we ordered but he didn't take the time to ask the Sushi chef. He also claimed all of the rolls were half off but when we got the bill some of them were and some of them weren't. Horrible, horrible food! Just left this place. Are. You. Serious?! My SO and mom are here tonight, we just left. We ordered three sushi rolls: Crunch Munch (special for tonight), Snowflake and Crunchy shrimp roll. Mom ordered the Seafood udon bowl and SO and I ordered the hibachi chicken entrees. The soup was gross, service unintelligent about everything, and the hibachi was so BLAND! The Seafood udon noodles tasted like fat, worms in your mouth! Not to mention the bowl came with 2 shrimp, one mussel and one scallop! For 12.99!? We sent back one of the chicken hibachi meals and the udon but the bill was still over 40 dollars! See the receipt... the sodas and tea we ordered they charged us for when leaving, after the bill was paid because the sever forgot to ring them up! The sodas were served in cans with no refills and for two soft drinks and disgusting, weak, Luke warm hot tea was over five dollars! We will absolutely never be back. Make the trip out of town to Newnan or elsewhere or eat at Yama and waste your money for nothing. We took nothing to go and left hungry. Gross read more

Went here because the other two restaurants we visited had a long wait. Didnt disappoint. Food was good. Tempura udon was good but some of my udon were a bit undercooked. Ebi furai could be bigger but it was ok. Enough for the whole bowl. All sushi were delicious. Service was slow, maybe because they're new? read more

The reviewer that said "don't let the dirty rugs scare you" was spot on. Great service, delicious and fresh sushi. I thought it was a little expensive for Lagrange, but I can't complain too much, as the ingredients were very good. My suggestion would be to reduce the overly generous portions, and keep it below/at ten dollars for lunch. read more

This restaurant was recently renovated but they lost their best waitress. The service is still great and the food tastes better than ever. Yama is one of the best places to get Asian food in Lagrange. It is one of the more pricier places but it is worth every penny. I hope to see yama here for a long time. read more

The waitress was extremely unprofessional as she waited our table. Topics were brought up that were very inappropriate and downright crude. Received our food on time. Bathrooms look horrendous. Very unclean and unsanitary, there was a 5 gallon bucket with brown water in the men's bathroom with a hose going into the wall. I'm not sure what that was about... We had a party of 12, when we got back to our hotel 5 from our party started violently vomiting up the sushi that we had eaten recently. It was food poisoning. We were very concerned and thought members of our party would need to go to the ER. I would never recommend this place, stay far far away! It's too unsanitary. Upon calling the restaurant the woman who picked up was kind, But not very helpful. We will be reporting them to the Public Health Department. read more

This is my absolute favorite place to eat! Their food is to die for. The sushi is wonderful and fresh. The miso soup is just amazing. I eat here at least once a week. The prices are not that bad for such great food and great service. It's never really crowded so its not loud that's how I like places. I have nothing bad to say about this place. I was craving sushi and I didnt want to drive out of town so I took my chance at...Yama. Online it says the restaurant closes at 10. I ordered one roll to begin with and once I realized I wanted another one i proceeded to order it but the waitress told me it was too late. It was only 9:10! I was beyond disappointed bc the roll I ordered was $15 and I left hungry! I understand them closing early depending on the traffic but a whole hour early is unacceptable. Needless to say, I will not be returning. I recommend calling before you go if its after a certain time. read more

Terrible! There were 5 tables occupied in the whole restaurant. We were sat down, given menus, and then it took 25 minutes to get a drink order. The drinks took forever, we just ordered water, and they weren't filled up all the way. Finally we were able to order. The salad came out with more water on it than dressing. So I'm in town on a business trip and found Yama on yelp. I sit down at the bar and the server says 'so let's talk about food'. From there it got even better. The friendship soup had the right blend of sweet and spice, full of great veggies and other ingredients, not just a 'nice' broth. A place to stop again for sure! read more
