I decided to eat dinner here. Initially wanted my food to be delivered, but because they were experiencing a high demand of customers, I agreed that I would pick up my order... Once I arrive home, I noticed that my order was not complete and they had charged me for it. I decided to call them and their response was "Sorry, we are busy" .... I asked them if they could deliver the rest of my order once they got a chance. They refused and told me that they would reimburse me and give me a call once it has been completed. I agreed and proceeded to give them my card number. Three days later, still no reimbursement or call..... Safe to say I WILLL NEVER order from this place again. Best sushi in NJ. I felt like I was in Japan for an hour. Great service. Nice people run this place. Creative presentation and "beautiful food" (as the lady with me said over and over.) Want good caviar but are not rich? Go here. All you need to know about caviar to enjoy it here, is that the pink one is the salty one and the orange one is the unsalted one. I have now been to establishment twice. I have to say the sushi is very good. The second time I went, which was last night, I had the Udon Ramen Soup. It was amazing! It's extremely hot, so if you do not like spicy, DO NOT have it. I happen to love spicy so I really enjoyed it. The only reason I did not give this place five stars is because I find the size of the rolls to be on the small side. For a specialty roll I would expect the rolls to be bigger, and they are not. The regular rolls, like the spicy tuna or tuna rolls, those are even smaller then normal, in my opinion. Overall the food is great tho and would come back here for sure. read more

My favorite sushi place in Rutherford hands down!! I love Nizi as well, but I love Yamada more!!! They know how to make my Philadelphia rolls just right!! Favorites are spicy tuna, California, and Philadelphia so if you get any of those you won't be disappointed !! Hours are good too! We stumbled upon this sushi bar accidentally over a year ago. The first time we actually went in to eat, we were pleasantly surprised by the staff and the food. We kept going back and have never had a bad experience. Their lunch menu is outstanding, with bento boxes and sushi at a great price. Whenever we go to Yamada, we are ALWAYS greeted with energetic hellos from all of the staff. The atmosphere is great, the food is great, and the price is perfect. I enjoy the some of the sushi in this place, but there are somethings that can improve here. The booth seats are torn and all they did was duck tape it. When i sat in the booth, you can tell the duck tape had been there a while, so it was sticky. Pretty clean, only thing that feels that they haven't cleaned was the glass of the fridge case where they keep the pieces of fish that they use for the sushi. I like the flavor to their sushi, and it is filling. I am always satisfied because the sushi "special" rolls are always plump. Once when i sat at the sushi bar, i did notice the sushi chef using saran wrap to roll the sushi, and he would also cut the slices of the roll with the saran wrap still wrapped around the sushi. Then he would take off the saran wrap and the sushi would hold its shape. It was a little concerning just because "what would happen if a piece of plastic got lodged into the sushi." Im glad i never had a piece of plastic. The only thing that was really a thumbs down was the spicy tuna roll. The reason the spicy tuna roll gets a thumbs down was because i had multiple pieces of Sharp fishbone in my Spicy tuna roll. I couldn't enjoy it without being paranoid that i was going to swallow a piece of fishbone. Im going to add one more thing to the thumbs down is the shrimp tempura roll. It is not fresh. I noticed that they have the shrimp already fried and stored in a container(maybe store bought ‍ not sure), so all they do is grab the piece of stored fried shrimp from the container and make their rolls. So freshness is a 2 out of 5. Five being the max freshness. Other than that, they are very nice and sushi is decent. I want to give it four stars because i do eat here but im going to give it a 3 star review because all those little things do add up and it it is a downfall for this spot; It should have been taken care of and improved. I will come back to eat here just because the sushi is filling. Oh and i forgot to add, they did bring free spring rolls that were good! read more

Came here on a Friday night and we were seated right away. Service was non-existent. The one waitress went from being completely overwhelmed at the beginning of the night to just standing around awkwardly waiting for the food to be prepared. I wasn't feeling the kani salad. My brother and I, found this place online! They have a online menu with delivery service. We decided to drive there and have lunch. The prices were great. We ordered a chicken teriyaki box, and it was not the typical traditional Japanese style teriyaki because the place is ran by korean so it had a korean twist to it. I wouldn't order it again!! I'm a self-proclaimed sushi pro & you really can't beat the freshness, value, and variety of the fish. Are salmon, tuna, and yellowtail sashimi, as well as part of the Yami roll, and finished with the Ikura topped with a quail egg. Highly recommend all. The only minus...no sake or beer. Such cute cozy place in downtown Rutherford close to rt 17 and 3 if you are driving and also close to the train station if you are using public transit. We walked in at 2:45 and realized they were closing at 3 pm for lunch break. They accommodated us and kept the restaurant open until we were done with our lunch. Their lunch specials are awesome be to box also comes with miso soup for $11. Also ordered yami and Steve rolls which were both amazing! We will be regulars at this sushi heaven! read more

This place is the definition of average. Their gyoza, spring rolls and edamame are all straight out of frozen packages from Costco or BJs (we saw them in the freezer). They are microwaved before being served to you. The roll selection is not super diverse. Most rolls come with something "spicy" or something "fried" or the fake crab stick. I've been told be real sushi aficionados that these are all subpar menu options. We got 4 rolls. They were fine in flavor. However, they were extremely small, and they fell apart as you tried to pick them up. Not a bad meal, but not good. read more

The place is small, and in a very busy road which I usually don't mind if there is good food, but honestly I have nothing great to say about this place. I ordered two rolls and none of the two satisfied my taste buds. I have to admit I'm very picky when it comes to sushi but if the fish isn't fresh I don't care what anyone says it will not taste good...yes today is very hot but it isn't an excuse for not having it fresh.
