I love the matcha drinks and soft serve here. I love the strong intense natcha taste that they offer here. We ordered the hot stone ground matcha drink. And later we wanted to add the soft serve. The lady who helped us took the order said we can't add a soft serve for addition of $3 something to our drink as we ordered it hot. So we had to pay for soft serve as a la carte which costs $7 something after tax. The soft serve is a bit small in portion. I am not very happy after this whole experience. If a customer wants a soft serve on the side with their hot drink then why can't they tailor to the request??? We haven't even left the counter when we requested to add and pay for the soft serve to our drink. The manual was a bit confusing. One star is taken away because of this. read more

If you love matcha, you will love this dessert shop! It is located in the Mitsuwa food court. You can tell that they use quality matcha by how vibrant the colors are (no culinary grade matcha used here). I ordered the Strong Uji Matcha Green Tea drink ($6 for large). It was so good I ended up buying the Uji Mukashi matcha powder ($20) to make drinks at home. They have a good variety of other drinks and desserts (soft serve, parfait) that I can't wait to try. read more

It's five stars quality but I don't think I can come back for their ice cream since the matcha they use is very strong!!!! Hence four stars rating. I got the mixed soft-serve, matcha and hojitcha (roasted matcha). Like what other reviewers have said, the matcha is BOLD and has a subtle bitterness that's also rich and strangely pleasant!? In other words, it's probably ceremonial grade matcha! If not, then it tastes like it! With the price of $6.50, I think it's worth the quality. The hojitcha seems less bitter and definitely has the roasty taste. I think maybe I'll defer to hojitcha only next time? Anyhow, I'd like to check out their drinks but with some added sugar! We ordered matcha soft serve with chocolate syrup and chocolate square. The order was to go and we ate the ice cream before taking some pics. There are plenty of pics for the food and beverages served here. It really reminder me of some businesses in Japan. I've had some of the best matcha soft serve in Kyoto and in Tokyo, and this is comparable. Probably the only noticeable difference is the milk. When you've traveled abroad and tried milk from other countries, you will find that milk that is far less tart. I think it has to do with homogenization or pasteurization technique. I saw great reviews on YELP and was excited to go to Yamari after shopping at Mitsuwa supermarket. But I was surprised price is very high for just an ice cream and a latte. My expectations went very very high and thought they must be wonderful when I saw the ice cream and latte. And I took some photos....... I usually go to an Italian Gelato shop in Studio City to buy Matcha Gelato. I am from Japan and am really fascinated and satisfied with that particular Matcha Gelato how the Gelato brought up scent, flavor and bitterness of Matcha mixing with other ingredients. Matcha Latte was just okay at Yamari. Matcha / Houjicha Mixed Soft Ice Cream was nothing special. I couldn't taste very much of Matcha's deep aroma and bitterness at all and it really turned my expectations down with the hight price $6.25. Moreover inside the ice cream was HOLLOWED-OUT! Empty!!!!! If I were Yamari's owner, I don't cheat like this way because I will loose loyal repeat customers in the United States. If this cheating is their policy, SO SAD. read more

Enjoyed this cute new shop inside the Mitsuwa at Del Amo! You can really tell their matcha and hojicha are high quality! I had the hojicha latte set with the Daifuku and my friend had the matcha latte set with the daifuku. The daifuku was sweeter than I was expecting in a very pleasant way and it was very good! The lattes do come unsweetened so make sure to ask for sweetener if you're not used to the traditional unsweetened flavors. My hojicha latte was a bit grainy at first but it somehow became smoother as I continued to have my drink so I'm not sure if that was intentional as this was my first time having authentic hojicha. But other than that everything was very good and very high quality! The store is also a bit on the pricier side due to their high quality ingredients so I'll probably come back just to treat myself once in a while. Overall impressed! read more

TLDR: holy matcha flavor Normally I am prepared to be slightly disappointed in how little matcha I can taste but Yamari's ice cream probably has the strongest matcha flavor I've ever tasted, to the point where it's honestly a little too bitter and not sweet enough. It's as if someone took a very lightly sweetened cup of matcha and turned it into soft serve. It's no wonder that their fare is a bit on the pricey side ($9.30 for the matcha parfait, $6.50 for soft serve), but I still think it's well worth it and the quality is definitely there. I would not recommend this to someone who only likes matcha with sugar though; it will likely be a bit too overpowering. I liked that the parfait came with perfectly soft and chewy mochi and a bit of azuki bean paste, which gave it a bit of extra sweetness. I couldn't really taste the matcha jelly in the bottom of the cup and would've preferred more soft serve instead. The dark chocolate square was also good. I am excited to try their other drinks and will definitively be back! Matcha is all the rage right now, and Yamari is one of the few spots that measures up to what you can find in Japan. My previous benchmark was Cafe Matcha Maiko, but this is a league above as far as soft serve is concerned. So glad this was recommended to me! I usually go simple for desserts, but we sprang for the matcha parfait. The soft serve is a dark green color, a dead ringer for how unbelievably bold it is. The red bean, mochi and chocolate square were also fantastic, but I'd also be ok going for a cone next time. With the addition of Yamari in the food court, this has to be the best Mitsuwa in the country. Wishing I was a little closer to the South Bay, but in the meantime I'm very excited to return and try the hojicha and other drinks. read more

This matcha place is the real deal. If you are a serious matcha lover, I would highly recommend this place. Their matcha is strong, bold, and not for the matcha beginner. I've had their iced matcha tea, their matcha latte (my fave), and their matcha soft serve. Yamari's higher than normal pricing compared to other matcha places is justified in the quality of the matcha. The matcha tea has a slight umami/salty ending which was a bit strong for me, but it kept making me want to go back in for seconds.
