tried the new matcha drinks and found that they were good but can't say they were absolutely amazing. they are decent quality but the flavored ones taste more similar to the lattes rather than having the matcha stand out. however, it's hard to fully judge it so i'd like the try the regular matcha latte before i decide whether or not i like it. i will say it's a bit pricey as the drinks are about $8 but definitely alike all the other spots around. of course if i were based in oc and had more matcha options for lower price and better quality, i would opt for those. otherwise, this is a decent option to satisfy a matcha craving. personal favorites are the peach lemon tea, roasted black tea latte, and the amber oolong latte service is okay at this location and honestly the century city one generally has served better drinks despite them all being measured. read more

I REALLY want to like this place. And now I've ordered the same item 4 times and it's been a hit and a miss. First time I ordered the amber oolong tea and it was first thing in the morning when they opened. The tea was really watered down. Not a lot of flavor at all. I was disappointed but a month later I thought I'd give it another try and this time I ordered the Roasted Black Citrus Tea, less sugar and it WAS HEAVEN!! The tea in the cup was clear, balanced citrus flavor and a wonderful roasted tea flavor, just sweet enough. Never had this roasted tea flavor and I absolutely loved it. Chagee was my new fav tea spot. A couple weeks later, went back again for the same order Roasted Black Citrus, less sugar. It was again great!! Yay!! TODAY, I came back. Looking forward to my go-to Roasted Black Citrus Tea, less sugar and it was TERRIBLE!!! Tea in the cup was cloudy. Tea flavor was bitter(as if it was steeped waaay too long), no sugar and the citrus rinds overtook the flavors. I was extremely disappointed. The service is always good and they were really kind to make it again after adjusting their equipment. It was ok, but the tea was still cloudy and slightly bitter. Did not taste the "roasted" flavor that was usually there. I think the citrus rinds were over smashed, so it was more citrus rind, than it was roasted tea--maybe that accounts for the cloudiness in the drink. It was just not as good. Chagee is one of the first of the BIG Chinese franchises that I have tried after the new onslaught of them dropping down in SoCal. Meaning that this was the first time I've used and heard of the 3 thin flute straws that force you to drink your tea slower and enjoy the flavor. That first visit was at the Century City location and since then, I've had a taste of the other big Chinese franchise heavy hitters like Molly Tea, Charlie's Tea, ChaHalo, and much more (stares at Valley Blvd. in San Gabriel). I find it a bit surprising that Chagee is making itself to be a mall boba place, considering many of the other locations are also at malls (Brea Mall, Ontario Mills, etc.), but it does put it a far step above something like, say, It's Boba Time. They have their own app and if it's your first time using it you can get a discount, I believe. You can also mobile order to bypass the line or go shopping and then pick up later when it's ready. They also had a lot of free samples the entire time I was ordering and waiting for my order which is nice. As of many of the Chinese franchises now, the aesthetics and design for the cups and bags are top tier, mirroring that fancy astrological/classical porcelain print (if that makes any sense, just look at the pictures). I got their Amber Oolong Tea Latte, large and no adjustments. I just wanted the first thing I saw before I had to make the hideous drive back to the 626. Thing is, it's not a bad milk tea. Very smooth and creamy, and decently strong tea flavor. Slightly caramel roasted nuts. But, as my brother put it, it tasted like good tea that was watered down by milk. This was after mixing it too. I can see what he's saying though. Other drinks are a nice balance between the extracted/brewed tea and the milk/creamer that's put into it and I don't know if it's because of the order rush or because I've now been spoiled by the knowledge of Molly Tea, but this wasn't as good as the first time, or even the second time I've had it at Century City. Now it's time to quench my thirst, and so it was that I would find myself back at Chagee Del Amo. This time I went ahead and did my first ever order using the app. I was a bit scared at first, as I assumed that I would have to physically enter the location that I was nearest, and initially I was worried because my last order using the app was in Fox hills, Culver city. CSA (OR CUSTOMER SERVICE ALL STAR) Jose (pictured) was up to the task and went out of his way to accommodate both myself and my guest by quickly putting my nerves to rest when he indicated that my phone had defaulted to the nearest Chagee location-and that he saw the order on the screen. Jose has a smooth and respectful tone-all the while while taking additional in person orders and tending to online pickups etc. Like so many other hires here, he appears to be well cut out for his role in customer service and dealing with people here. I genuinely think this is the best milk tea in the area. They use a tea espresso machine, which means the tea flavor is insanely strong and aromatic. The caffeine is also insane. Seriously, be careful. If you're sensitive to caffeine, do not underestimate this place. That being said, I cannot get over how good the tea is. I've tried a lot of boba shops and nothing else really compares. The tea actually tastes like tea. Every time I try another place, I end up wishing I had just come here instead. Their fruit teas are amazing too. The lemon tea in particular is one of my favorite drinks. It's like an elevated Arizona iced tea but made with actual quality ingredients. Super refreshing, not overly sweet, and perfect on a hot day. My only complaint is the service. The employees can be a little sassy, and the speed is honestly ridiculous sometimes. I've waited over 30 minutes for a drink with only a couple of people ahead of me. I understand good drinks take time, but there are definitely efficiency issues that need to be addressed. That's what makes this so frustrating. I love this place. The drinks are so good that I keep coming back despite the service problems. I really hope management invests in better training and smoother operations because the product itself is easily 5 stars. Please fix the wait times. I am begging. Chagee teas are amazing! Every cup is brewed with an Expresso machine style and it's aroma is so appealing. We came to the grand opening and since then, I'm hooked on their Jasmine Tea Latte. It's just recent to their Culver City Grand opening, they passed out some samples of their peach oolong tea Latte and I realized what have I been missing?! Who would thought oolong (bitter tea) with the peach aroma is so delicious! I then tried their iced peach oolong Lemon tea, (although sounds weird) it was so tasty and refreshing. They do not have any toppings to the drinks but do appreciate that you can substitute to oatmilk with no additional charge! Just something simple and delicious. This Torrance location is located inside Del Amo Mall. Although to me is inconvenience, there's a easy way to enter. If you know the parking structure between Macy and the Mitsuwa Market. This tea house spot took over the previously held spot by Starbucks which is a surprise!!! We were finally able to try out the Chagee at this branch I remember loving the iced tea drink I got from the one in Century City so we lined up here to place an order. The staff here were in a rush, creating all of the drinks as quick as possible. Ordering took a while because there were a lot of beverages out, which I think was mainly because we came by an hour before closing. The cups are beautifully brandished with their artistic designs, giving a fancier feel for a drink. Expect mainly TEA here and don't think it's a coffee spot!!! You order at the front and also pick up your drinks at the front so it can get busy there. You can watch the tea-ristas make the drinks. I'm not sure if you can customize any drinks freely. I got the peach oolong lemon iced tea large and found the tea super refreshing and delicious!!! Super satisfied. My girlfriend got the oolong iced tea and enjoyed it as well. I love how the sticker labels on the cup show the calories and caffeine level ontop of your name and order. Everything was good about my experience. I had never heard of Chagee until I saw that they were going to replace the Starbucks in Del Amo Mall. Chagee Modern Tea House has fancy designs on cups, straw wrappers, and to-go bags for your drinks. The artwork makes it seem like an upscale store. Upon my first visit, I got the Peach Oolong Cruffin ($6.45) & Peach Oolong Tea ($5.95). Both were pretty good. I probably wouldn't get the Cruffin again. Service was efficient. They have a board which indicates when your order is ready to grab. It's a good system when used properly. However, on my second visit, the female staffer was calling out the drink orders in a soft voice and it was difficult to know if we'd been called. It took a while for the drinks to be ready, so I asked because I wasn't sure. Intermittently, a few names were added to the board. Mine did end up on the board, so I felt bad I had asked. If only they would have put all the orders on the board when they were ready, it would have saved the girl from being bothered unnecessarily. Second time I went, hubby & I got drinks. He got the Peach Oolong Tea Latte ($6.45) and I got the Boya Jasmine Green Tea Latte ($6.45). I really like their tea drinks. They aren't too sweet. All three cold drinks I've received have been served in an insulated cup that are typically used for hot beverages. Interesting, but I don't mind. These cups are prettier than the plastic ones anyways! They have three different types of straws, so choose wisely! LOL! A Tri-Sip Straw for Lattes & Pure Tea, a Classic Straw for Lemon Tea, and a Classic+ Straw for Frappes. The Tri-Sip Straw really slows down my sipping! I guess it aids in allowing you to savor your drink a little longer! There are a very few seats along the outer edge of the store. Chagee is located in the Del Amo Mall near Hollister, right across from Miniso. It's become one of my favorite tea spots, especially since they focus on tea without toppings. My go-to drink is the Boya Tea Latte, which is a jasmine green tea latte that actually tastes like high-quality tea. I usually order it with 100% sweetness and ice, but you can customize it however you like. Overall, I don't find Chagee to be overly sweet, which I really appreciate. If you want something that is on the fruity side, I have previously gotten the peach lemon oolong which was really good as well. Chagee freshly brews the tea leaves for each order on site as if it is coffee. I ordered the 16 oz Boya Jasmine Green Tea Latte ($5.95). I wanted non-fat milk; they only have whole milk. I wanted extra foam in my latte; they can't do foam. They can adjust sugar level though so I asked for less sugar. When I got my order which took awhile, I noticed that the tea flavor was very subtle and light. It was not very strong and tasted more like flavored tea water. I guess an increase in sugar level would have helped it. Essentially I got weak milk tea in a fancy cup and fancy straw. If you have $6 to burn, try Chagee. It is a well known national brand from China that is expanding with a limited drink menu. Otherwise, save your money and go to one of the local Chinese boba tea shops for more bang for the buck. read more

12/27/25 Saturday Came during the evening because we've heard good things about this place. Got a large hot jasmine milk green tea latte. The service was great. They were kind enough to explain to us the difference between the extracted and the brewed teas. They said the extracted was more like an expresso while the brewed is more like a pour over. Our drink came out relatively quickly too. Our drink was pretty light despite choosing 100% everything. Also, it wasn't super hot. I'd give it a 8/10 for taste but 7/10 overall since the price is a little high for something that tastes average. I do appreciate how they put the nutrition facts for you on the cup. Came here tonight close to closing hour about 20min before. I ordered the jasmine milk tea. After paying i was told they were out but would brew me one if i didn't mind waiting 15min. I was happy to wait. The lemon tea came out right away but i didn't get the jasmine for like 25min which i was fine with. The manager gave us a refund even on their own. The service was beyond my expectations they were all very nice and professional. For the tea. Both were good and you can take the premium tea. I've heard mixed reviews from my friends about this place and I now understand why. I don't understand the hype about this spot. Chagee also have serve their drinks in those double insulated paper cups that other popular boba shops are also using making it seem pretty high end but it's just packaging. The good: The aesthetics are aesthetic-ing here! I've been eyeing this spot and awaiting their grand opening! I got the jasmine latte tea and with light ice and sweetness and it was just as I would like it. Their design was really modern and trendy. They had beautiful cups. Iced drinks are still served in their paper latte cups rather than see-thru plastic cups like most tea places. They have high-quality teas and a simple menu. I saw that my drink was made to order and I got to choose my milk (rather than powdered milk like many other milk tea spots). The price was fair at $5-6 per drink. The bad: They don't have non-caffeinated options. They said the jasmine tea was the lightest caffeine option they had. There is no boba (which is ok with me because I normally don't get boba). The interesting: They have flat two-tubed (or 3?) straws. It looks like a coffee stirring stick but is meant for you to savor your tea. I wasn't used to the mouth feel at first but I liked that it slowed down my drinking and made my drink last longer because I typically drink too quickly. They're a stand alone kiosk in the mall. They made the cups so pretty, similar to Dior designs, giving it an upscale vibe. I got the hot peach oolong tea latte which is one of their signature drinks. I chose to just get it with regular milk after asking the worker which milk tastes best with it. She suggested not changing the sweetness or milk and just going with the default way it's made because they did such a good job with the balance of flavors, and she was right! It was delicious and I really enjoyed the tea flavor. It wasn't too sweet or too milky. It was just right! It's suggested to use the tri-sip straw (which is like 3 super thin straws stuck together) for the tea latte so that's what I used. We had to wait a while for the order to be filled. There isn't much seating, so there were a lot of people standing around waiting for the tea. We ordered two teas: a peach specialty tea and a lemon iced tea. The flavor was good with plenty of tea flavor. I was a bit bummed there were no toppings like boba to add to my drinks. Plenty of parking, but can be a bit of a maze. Pretty straight out of Macys into the mall. Unlike other chagee possibly, this one is a kiosk in the the middle of the mall so more waiting space. Still needs to install a microphone for order call outs though as i feel the screen has some lag. They do have an app for 15% off, tote bags require min of 2 drinks, and when its busy one of the workers does come out with a portable ipad. Luckily I got there before the rush of the line came after me which was surprising Like China chagee they do have the special straws. Actually it was pretty amazing to see the kiosk come together because everything is automated- like your order gets printed and made IN A MACHINE and the kcal/macros are printed on the cup. The workers pretty much just dump the drink into the cup. But there are a lot of workers at the kiosk space, so i expect them to prioritize fast service. Okay anyways- bayu tea latte (jasmine Milk tea). 100% sweet, less ice, free oat milk. The tea is good but not super fragrant/creamy like chinas chagee. It doesn't taste artifical (like feels good). Its good tea for the price (not astrigent), but not super special. Regular sweetness not too sweet. Next time I try peach oolong as usually that ones sold out at other tea stores. read more

The matcha didn't taste fresh or high quality--it lacked flavor and was completely overpowered by the milk. Definitely not worth the price.

OVERALL : I just happened to be at the Del Amo mall today and noticed a bunch of people with Chagee's distinctive cup walking around so I knew I had to stop by and see what the hype was all about. They are a tea shop that originated in China and super popular! I've been meaning to try them and heard good things, but finally had a chance today. It was their opening weekend so they only had a few teas available that they were focusing on, but their delicious free samples convinced me to purchase. They were busy, but I didn't have to wait in line at all when I arrived around 4:30pm! Just walked right up and ordered. Pro tip to download the app and get 15% your order! The drinks only took about 5-10 mins to come out, and they had a station that packed your drink for you in to-go bags with straws. There was also a cute giveaway station for magnets, pins, etc. since it was their opening week! Casual vibe since it's in the mall but the seating and green plants around elevated the experience. PARKING : locared inside the Del Amo Mall in Torrance so you'll need to park in the normal mall parking lot to go inside the mall and access the shop! FOOD/DRINKS : I loooove that the drinks all had labels with nutrition facts (calories, caffeine, protein, and sodium). BOYA Tea Latte - their signature drink, tea and milk Peach Oolong Tea Latte - similar to above but with peach flavor profile Peach Oolong Pure Tea - just tea, no milk -- you can choose sweet or unsweet They don't have boba/toppings because they are focused on the tea itself, but it's worth it! The tea was strongly brewed and soooo fragrant. Cups were beautiful too and the straws were skinny as to aerate the tea and allow you to savor the flavor of the tea more. This teahouse is overhyped. I would not go out of my way for these drinks. I had the amber oolong tea latte, there was too much milk, but the oolong was strong enough to taste. Their boya green tea latte was better and reminds me of Hey Tea and Molly's Tea jasmine tea latte. It was a decent price realize to boba these days, $5.95 regular size. Overall quick service and nice staff!! I waited less than five minutes for my drink on Friday afternoon. They do not have options for topping, so maybe that's why it's prepared fast. read more

Chagee is an upscale tea brand from China that has debut in the United States this year. The first US location opened in Century City in May and this second location in Del Amo Mall opened in early August. Both locations have generated buzz and wait times have been crazy. I remember going to Century City in May and it took me an hour and a half to get my order on a Thursday morning. I'm presuming that wait times are improving there. For my order today (August 2025), it took about thirty minutes total to put in my order and to get our drink. They do have an app, so you should consider downloading the app and ordering online if you want to reduce your wait times. The $10 question is whether Chagee is worth the wait. First, the quality of the tea is worth the cost. Their signature drink is their boya tea latte. It's good: you can taste nice floral notes from the Jasmine Green tea and it's balanced. I also like their roasted teas as you get a nice depth of flavor from fire-roasted tea leaves. The tea is good; however, I wouldn't wait for longer than 30-40 minutes. Consider downloading the app so that you can minimize your wait and so you can get updates about when to pick up your drink. I expect wait times will improve as hype dies down and they expand to more locations. There is very limited seating in this location at Del Amo mall, so you'll have to find somewhere else to enjoy your drink. read more
