I got there close to 6pm and everyone was so nice. The lady that took my order was friendly and welcoming. I got their Mango Sticky Matcha. It was pretty interesting. Loved that it has a rich matcha flavor and mango sticky flavor didn't overpower the drink. If anything, it complimented well with the matcha. I love it and would absolutely order it again. Unfortunately, they didn't have any pastries left other than a couple bagels. I wanted to try their croissants but maybe next time when I'm in the area again. The place is super clean and organized. They have a wifi, an outlet, a couple tables for single or multiple customers as well as comfy couches. The restroom was also clean and smells great. Highly recommend this place. I found a new to me boba spot, and I'm already looking forward to coming back! One thing that immediately caught my attention was that they offer grass jelly as a topping, one of my favorites. I ordered their summer special, the HK Matcha Latte, made with matcha, milk, brown sugar, and of course grass jelly. It was smooth, refreshing, and the perfect drink for a warm day. My husband customized his own fruit-infused tea with lychee jelly and salted cold foam, and he really enjoyed his combination as well. The shop has a handful of small tables and seats, and we got to relax and enjoy our drinks. Keep in mind that the tables are on the smaller side. I stopped by here today to get a couple drinks! Small parking lot out front. Pretty deep space inside, they have tables inside. They have soooo many delicious drinks on their menu, both espresso and matcha drinks. Lots of unique and fun flavors. They have pastries too but by the time I came in the afternoon there wasn't much left. I got the mango sticky rice matcha for my sister with the cream top, and I got the earl grey matcha for myself with almond milk. I stole a sip of her drink and it was incredible!! Not overly sweet either. My drink was great too, though the earl grey was subtle, I could hardly taste the flavor of it. But it was still a tasty and good quality matcha! I came here with my brother and his girlfriend and we immediately realize seating is a bit limited but we're able to manage a spot. Everything felt super clean and state of the art machines to making the drinks. We ordered the chamomile tea, coconut matcha cloud, Amai special coffee, and Vietnamese coffee. Chamomile Tea - 3.5/5 it's not bad but it did come from a tea bag so nothing special and was not made in house. Coconut Matcha Cloud - 5/5 was extremely refreshing and balanced so well with the matcha. It definitely was a waker upper. You definitely taste the coconut and a hint of matcha Amai special coffee - 4.5/5 was definitely a huge kicker but also extremely strong and bold. i visited many years ago and did find the drinks way too sweet but this most recent visit was pretty good - prob don't need to adjust sweetness moving forward anymore. i tried the mango sticky matcha and was very satisfied with the taste. it's not like a typical mango matcha which was appreciated - much more balance between the matcha and the mango as opposed to some places with VERY thick and overpowering mango syrup. my only downside this visit was that the price for the drink was actually more expensive than shown. it was $8 although the menu says $7 so that threw me off a bit and made me enjoy the drink just a little less. read more

I heard this spot has a nice selection of seasonal and classic items. Lots of customers on a weekend afternoon. Bad experience tho-The worker put too much ice in my "less ice" drink, Jasmine oat milk with coconut jelly. It felt like 40% ice, so I requested them to remove some of the ice cubes. When they did, they took the whole drink back, took off the plastic lid with the straw and put it ON THE COUNTER. Not even on top of a napkin, but the surface where many hands and cups and blenders touch everyday. And then they proceeded to put the same straw BACK into the drink. Honestly, made me feel uncomfy. There was no greeting I was the one to ask the cashier how she doing lol I ordered the iced Amai signature latte .... Yikes. It was nothing that I was expecting. It was average at best. I did not think it was a good coffee at all. Had an underlying bitter taste to it. It was overly milky as well. The hot mocha was actually pretty good. I ordered an iced Turon Banana which has espresso, milk, banana, banana chips. y You can pay additional for banana foam which I declined. The drink had a subtle taste of Turon so don't expect a strong banana flavor. I also ordered an everything but the bagel croissant with chunks of cream cheese on the inside. Another plus was that they were able to warm up my food. I asked where they got their pastries and was happy to hear that they got them from Nonna Mercato in Long Beach. Gotten both coffee and matcha from here. My advice is don't pay the absurd price for below average coffee. The size is small and rings up to $9 if you sub the milk for alt options. The size is also incredibly small for their hot coffees. The matcha tastes good but nothing I'd go so out of my way for. Did we just become best friends? YEP! Seriously though, this place is fighting for my favorite boba spot now. My first question coming in with my kid was whether they had any caffeine-free drinks. Luckily there are two sections of the menu full of options for that: Refreshers (think: lemonade/fruity juice) and Milky Way (think: dairy or dairy substitute). My kid is happy to have one or two options at most tea places, so in her eyes this is already the best. This time she tried the Strawberry Milky Way (substituted almond milk for a dairy-free alternative) which she LOVED. The only con is that we thought we would see more cheese foam on it--maybe it was mixed in already--but the cheese foam wasn't visible as a top layer like it normally is. Despite that though I would still give it five stars. As for flavors the kid can have, there is Cookies n Cream and so many others that we want to try next time. From the start, there was one flavor that caught my eye and that is Strawberry Matcha. I would say the quality here is better compared to other places--the menu also says that the matcha is ceremonial grade and you can definitely tell by the flavor. The strawberry is blended in well, and the thankfully we were able to have boba added too. I also substituted for almond milk. I would absolutely recommend this flavor and would get it again. Finally the third flavor we tried today was the Turon Banana, which is named after a Filipino dessert. Because of this we were wondering if this is Filipino owned or inspired. If you are looking for a tasty boost of caffeine, this one is it! These drinks today scored a 3 out of 3. I visited Amai Tea & Cafe a couple of years ago, & thought this was a cute cafe to hang out. I was curious about its name, & discovered amai (甘い) means "sweet" in Japanese. Upon entering, the front of the shop is bright with large windows allowing lots of sunlight, but the back is more dark with cement gray colored walls. There's an egg-shaped hammock next to a bone-colored couch, & small tables spread out in the middle & back of the boba shop with several small round tables & chairs; IG angel wings & halo for a memorable visit & social posting. Before that, there was a Amai logo pastel pink wall; this was before my time & saw the wall mural posted by another reviewer. Since then, there's been a few interior changes, with the most recent update of a dark green couch, removal of the angel wings & halo back wall, & lightened wall, with vertical bookshelf for your reading pleasure. The space & flow isn't balanced, either too open (by the entrance) or cluttered (near the back/sitting area) by the restrooms. I've only tried a couple of their drinks: 6 P.M. Sunset & Galaxy Lemonade. I prefer the former over the latter due to the balance inconsistency of the strawberry lemonade & butterfly pea tea. The peach & strawberry green tea flavor isn't very present, but you can taste the fruity notes when drinking with the strawberry bits. Service has been a hit or miss... sometimes you're greeted/welcomed, other times you're not; orders can be quickly made, & other times it's slow as molasses even when it's only a couple of customers ahead. The drinks execution has also been iffy... there's wayyy too much ice even when you request less ice. Trying the shop at Santa Monica first and certainly got sold to their bold flavorful coffee. Want to try different vibe, I visited the Torrance outlet and I would say I even loved this one better, being more spacious and probably a more convenient space when I wanna sit for awhile and worked. The baristas were all super sweet and welcoming and I wasn't 100% sure if different shops carried different menu, but the one in Torrance seemed to offer more options including for milk tea and even boba toppings in case you're non-coffee drinker. I went for one of their top options, the Vietnamese coffee which was slapping and felt like literally gave me wakeup slap being super strong like classic Vietnamese drip. Met up with my friends here to catch up, and we were lucky to snag a corner table since there aren't too many spots to sit and enjoy your drinks. Oh, how I WISH they had larger portions, but it is what it is... Amai is amazing. It's worth the wait, as there's usually a line which can get quite long. There's only around 2-3 people prepping, so plan to be patient. The interior has been full of people when I've dropped in. It's a rather large interior space, no outside seating, with merch and other items lying around. Parking is available in a small shared lot. There's plenty of seating with small tables, a couple of big couches, and wide open space near the windows that let in a lot of light. It's definitely more spacious than most coffee shops I've been to, so it doesn't feel crowded at all. I ordered the iced signature latte, and it was amazing!
