Went here for the first time today. The food was medium, some items nice and flavorful (mostly items in a sauce), some bland. Chicken on a stick seemed rubbery or tough like they were overcooked. Wings had a slight fishy taste so guessing they are cooked in the same oil as fish items. Place is clean and new looking. The only other somewhat irritating aspect was the server near the end of the meal. When she thought we were finishing up and ready for dessert she cleared all the silverware along with the dishes - I took that as a sign she wanted us to no longer make another trip to the food and to leave soon. The second irritating aspect was after I paid the bill in exact cash (and still had the rest of cash on the table since I tip in cash), she moved the bill in front of me and tapped her finger on the bottom where the tip is calculated and said "You need to pay tip" I would have to think about if I will be back.The food can be good for the right items, but that server attitude is bothersome. You can get just one item Togo! I was not feeling well and needed a brothy soup. I immediately think of egg drop or wonton soup because this is what I was given as a kid to feel better. As there is no "great" Asian places in my direct area I headed towards Publix, planning on making my own. I see Yami buffet and thought maybe I can just get soup and go home and rest. So, I walked in and asked the gentlemen at the front and he said yes and gave me a Togo container. The entire cost was $4.26!! Came on a Monday night so not very busy at all. The staff was nice and the cooks replenished the buffet line often. There wasnt as much of options than I thought there would be. Sushi options were basic. Ordered the hibachi and the steak was overcooked and too much garlic was added. The garlic overpowered the whole thing. They had cooked oysters but it looked overcooked as well. Some things needs to be worked on. The mussels, shrimp options, crab, dumplings and noodles are good. Nothing crazy about this buffet. Food is not fresh at all even if you come in for lunch. Everything is over cooked or has been sitting in serving stations for a long time. Whatever is left from lunch the staff pushes you to eat at dinner time. This means that fish, shrimp, and other raw items like Sushi stay out all day! Service is real pushy, they take your plates even when you are still eating your meal. They hover over your table and are not friendly at all. Most of the staff does not speak fluent english if they even speak at all. Also the rumors are true! They will chase you down and demand a tip. Ambience is not inviting at all, there is always some kind of cleaner smell while you dine. The utensiles, seats, floors, water jugs, plates, EVERYTHING looked and felt dirty. I have been here for both lunch and dinner and will not be returning. I have worked in Chinese restaurant for over a decade and I have felt broken inside after dinning there for the buffet. There are things that need to be addressed that for improvement. 1) The shrimps need to be fresh and cooked tender both fried and stir fries. You seriously need to put them in your mouth and if they disintegrate in your mouth like wet flour, DO NOT serve them! 2) The sushi bar needs more work to be more presentable. Only 2 rolls are barely ok on the far right of the bar, the rest are very plan and the same. 3) I understand Chinese buffet has very high overhead expenses. If you can't keep up the quality, you won't last for long. You might need a good manager that focus on quality on the traditional Chinese menu dishes 1st, sushi bar/hibachi 2nd. Then a good stir fry chef and a good sushi chef. All 3 positions are not cheap but at least you might still have a chance to revive the business, rather than a slow death. read more

Everything was a 2.75 / 3.0 out of 5, just ok. The chicken entrees like Gau and Honey chicken had chewy bit, and one of guk to spit out in a napkin. The Gau sauce was overpowering. The rangoons had hardly any cream in them. The hot and sour soup was meh. So good enough but not a destination place. Decided to stop by Yami as it is fairly new to Metro West. The prices looked fair and it was very clean looking, even had a few Gatcha machines at the front. The service was good from the attendant who helped us as we got a buffet plate to go so we could sample a bit of everything for a snack. That is really where the issue is, is that while the pricing is not bad...it is not good for the bland food that we tried. Nothing really stood out and the 3 different chickens we tried all kind of tasted the same. The lo mein noodles were the worst I've ever had, I even didn't eat them all as it was basically spaghetti. Now the sushi was decent, but you could get cheaper and similar/better quality at Publix or Whole Foods. Maybe if you do the app you can eat there for the sushi then it'd be worth it. But unfortunately I can not recommend this buffet as much as I was hoping to love it read more

Food: quality was good and a pretty good variety of options, ranging from traditional Asian food to typical American bbq. There's also fruits and deserts were good, fruits are more watery than sweet, desert was good :) Service: when walking in was instantly directed to seating and asked what drinks we would like, waitresses continuously travel throughout to take away garbage and assist with any questions or requests. Google and yelp rated this place as 2nd best seafood buffet in Orlando so I took my family to eat at this location. This shit was not a seafood buffet. I don't know what the fuck you Florida people eat your entire lives but this shit was inedible. After trying out most of the food displayed and pushing a full plate to the side of the table three times, we decided to try the hibachi which saved us from getting up and walking out. Of course hibachi is hot, it's made to order, and can be flavorful with enough teriyaki sauce but, the beef was disgusting. We finally had enough and pushed the rest of our hibachi to the side of the table and paid our bill, and still left a tip. We received a look like, oh shit- they hated it. Not sure if we had too high expectations, or the food was just to cold from the warmer trays to our table, or the meat was just that bad from being unflavored to being undercooked but, this place was the worst buffet I've ever been too. Went in with the family to try the buffet, and it's mid at best, some of the food lacked flavor, while others stood out, but very few items. The hot food was being rotated well, but the sushi station looked pretty abandoned with rolls not being replaced. The hibachi station left more to be desired, with only a few options available. The sushi was mediocre, the fried food was all cold, the chicken wings all had this very strange flavor, and ALL the ordinary Chinese dishes had that similar flavor regardless of the protein type. They do not receive enough foot traffic to replace the food soon enough, so it just sits there and either gets cold, or becomes mush. A health inspector would have a field day here. I have been to a few Chinese buffets and they definitely have their good and bad points. If you are fan of variety then buffets are a great choice. Small portions can let you pick and choose many different items. However, you do lose some of the distinct flavors each dish is known for. Yami buffet is true on both of those. Although there are MANY different choices here, the individual flavors get lost. That being said, the service is quick and friendly. There were many people throughout the restaurant helping guests, cleaning up, restocking and just giving really good service in general. The ambiance is bright and welcoming, and the restaurant was very neat and clean. My only REAL disappointment was the lack of vegetables and vegetable dishes. Sushi taste bland, fried stuff taste dry, soup lacking the basic (salt), sea food... shrimp was ok, crawfish falls apart cuz it's frozen too long then cooked so meat is all destroyed. Habachi taste ok if you have a sweet tooth. Everything else is just sad. Yes it is cheap but I guess it's cheap cuz food is crap. Whoever rated a 5 star on this I seriously question their taste buds. My daughter and went to Yami Buffet tonight. Everything looked pretty, but the food temperatures were cold and a few items barely warm. The foods with batter that should be crispy, were cold and soggy. The hibachi was bland. The sushi, most I couldn't eat because of cream cheese or mayonnaise. Sashimi was good. The tempura was cold and spongy. The "hot" dishes were cold and flavorless. Some even gelatinous. I don't think they had the food warmers on. One station that was warm, was noodles. Unfortunately they forgot flavor. I tried soy sauce to add salt to my food and that didn't help. If I were to give 1-5 stars they would owe me. Too expensive for the poor quality. Hibachi was the only thing nice and hot, but needed more flavor. I should have brought a food thermometer to check the temperature before cooking. Meat tasted off. The fries table with sugar donuts was lukewarm, but the donuts too firm from sitting. The paste in the sesame balls and red bean dumplings was dry and flaky instead of smooth. Didn't even touch the American food as the Mac and cheese looked like a brick and had a skin on top from sitting. Luckily I took small portions to try before going for bigger portions. I usually go back for what was tasty. I added soy sauce to add salt, but no improvement. Nothing tasted fresh. So I left hungry and ate afterwards. This location was in MetroWest, off Hiawassee. This use to be Friendly Confines and I'm so glad this restaurant is here now. The old restaurant was gutted and completely remodeled. Everything is sharp and clean. It's located in a shopping plaza that has a Publix that's being remodeled. It's on the right hand side of Hiawassee so a lot of people might not notice it even though they have grand opening signs out front. We live under one mile away, so I've been waiting for it to open. My favorite was the tuna tataki, salmon sashimi, and sushi. My second plate was mistakenly regular Chinese buffet food and I couldn't eat anymore - well I did have a piece of cheesecake, but there's always room for dessert. It was on the sweet side, but I just didn't eat the crust and it was good. My husband tried the hibachi and the shrimp were medium to large sized. I hate to recommend this place because I don't want to have to wait to get in, this place is great. You can't beat the $21 price tag and $15 weekday lunch. read more

Restaurant was clean and food was continuously refreshed and refilled. Food tasted good. They had standard Chinese buffet food. No pizza was offered for the kids. Hibachi was very tasty. I wish they listed what each sushi roll is. For the kids price they use a height chart in the front of the restaurant. For the height, I would say probably eight years and younger for children's price. My 10-year-old was too tall. Service was attentive. Drinks filled, and dirty plates cleaned up. read more

I saw many people recommend this restaurant and said that was the best buffet in Orlando. I come to tell you that is far from being a good (not even decent) restaurant by the lack of variety of food that wasn't even fresh to begin with. I came in and craved some sushi, it's what i ate the most and it was.. average, you could taste the lack of freshness in the sushi and makes you think you're playing russian roulette with salmonella. Servers were way too attentive, which for some people is good and don't get me wrong i feel that a good restaurant needs good customer service, but when i tell you these servers were obnoxious THEY WERE VERY OBNOXIOUS. Mind you they don't even ask you if they can take your plate away, they just take it as if nothing. I had to stand up several times to get a new plate everytime i finished one and it was so annoying because they were always on top of you. The ambiance was depressing itself, trendy music playing in the entire place but it was so empty when I came in with my family, maybe there were like 4-5 tables occupied in the entire place and the restaurant is big. So when we saw that the restaurant was empty we had our doubts BUT we decided to just go on and eat there because how would you know that a place is good or not if you never tried it? But I did, let me tell you PLEASE AVOID THIS RESTAURANT! The food is far from fresh and also tacky, service was eh, but also you can risk spending the rest of your day on your toilet shitting yourself, or even worse, vomiting all you ate like my mom did in the restaurant (yeah, nasty.) Im a good person so I decided to take the time to recommend an actual buffet that is totally worth it! It's called Osaka Bay Buffet located in Kissimmee, attention is awesome, a whole variety of food you can pick and an impeccable ambiance, actually every seat was reserved and full the first time I went there. So if you want a good buffet, please consider going to that one i recommended or GET IN YELP TO SEE THE REVIEWS!! I want to reiterate that most recent visual to Yami is as good or better than my first visit. All the different varieties of food are excellent. I bias towards the sashimi and shrimp. All the choices are always available, don't have to wait. You must try the hibachi as well. I am a frequent visitor and I sincerely hope Yami is around for a long time. read more
