Limited menu for the weekend of the 4th.

Coming up from the south burbs to attend an event at the high school. We found a GEM! This place is awesome! We came on July 2nd and they had a limited menu. I had the Duderino Smash burger and my husband had the Jalapeno Popper Smash burger. They were soooo good. The different flavors mixed together so well. The fries were phenomenal! Decor is awesome with some of the coolest brewery signs. Bartender was very friendly and attentive. Our glasses were never empty. Tap menu was a good mix. Three Floyd's and Half Acre were among the stars of the line-up. I can't wait to come back and try things from their full menu! No pictures of the food. We dug right in! This is a Chicago neighborhood bar transported to Barrington!

There aren't many bars in Barrington but the Doodle sure is a hidden gem. Since I'm from Barrington, I go here every time I'm in back in town. Even though I'm not a regular, each and every time, I feel at home. The bartenders are awesome. The drinks are cheap. Even their food is good (try their grilled cheese). It's a great place to hang out in Barrington on a Friday night. Thankfully, it's not a shabby, sketchy bar in town where old men would hang any more. It definitely gained back it's reputation from over the years. I started coming here after I graduated college. It's definitely an interesting crowd. It's mainly middle aged to older townies looking to grab a drink with neighborhood friends. Then, mixed in, you have the young crowd who come back from college. The vibe, overall, is really what you make of it. Whether you're here for a drink or two to grab a drink or two with a friend or play darts with a group of people, there's really something for everyone. There's a jukebox to the side to jam out on a Friday night and a gigantic Jenga that's always fun to play tipsy. Just fair warning, if you're a townie like myself, you will probably ALWAYS run into someone you know.

I don't get the name, but who cares......

Interior is much less depressing than before and the beer selection is with the times. They've done a good job upping their game

There is nothing "scary" about this place, and if you think there is, you've been hanging out at Wool Street too long.

She was friendly and great at recommending dishes. The busboy (we didn't catch his name) was positive and attentive. The staff really make the spot wonderful. It's modern inside, dark paint, and updated decor. However it feels friendly with the trendy atmosphere. The way these dishes look also match the ambiance at the restaurant. We ordered lots of dishes and they mostly looked great! The Salat Roasted Beet Salad is fruity, thanks to the berries and citrus, with a pistachio whip on the bottom of the dish. It's a heavier dish for a salad, but absolutely delicious and fruity. I also had the San Francisco Style Cioppino was good, but I wasn't expecting it to be like a zupa di pesci, while the flavor was good, I was having FOMO of others eating monkfish and the walleye. The Cioppino had a Louisiana flavored sauce. There was a variety of fish which were all cooked and not overdone. It's a massive dish! We finished off with English Sticky Toffee Pudding and Italian Citrus Mascarpone Cake. The cake was amazing! It wasn't too tart and light. The sticky pudding was also delicious and very sweet. It's a very beautiful restaurant, service is great, the plates look amazing and tastes great. It's definitely a spot to try again!

The main…read morereception hall features a large stone window behind the wedding party table, and there is a patio just outside that overlooks the water, which makes for a gorgeous setting. While Wild Onion is clearly a great venue for events, it is also a restaurant and brewery, so I am focusing this review more on the food and dining experience. We ate here for my cousin's wedding rehearsal dinner and were seated in a red carpeted room connected to the main reception hall. Unfortunately, this space felt out of place compared to the rest of the venue. It did not match the elegant vibe of the main hall and was a bit dark and dingy, which was somewhat off-putting at first. Service-wise, our waitress was wonderful. She was sweet, personable, and had a fun, upbeat personality that helped improve the overall experience right at the beginning. For my meal, I ordered the Kickin' Chicken Sandwich ($17). It is a hand-breaded chicken breast topped with honey garlic sauce, pepper jack cheese, bacon, chipotle mayo, and fried jalapenos. The sandwich had a really nice balance of flavors and was easy to eat, but despite the name, it was not spicy at all. I enjoyed it, though I did find the portion a bit small, and it did not fill me up. I chose cheese curds as my side, and those were a highlight. They were crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Also, because I am currently pregnant, I had an absolutely delicious mocktail. I sadly don't remember the name of the one I ordered, but I am here to say that it had a good balance of flavors. Overall, Wild Onion has a large menu with a wide variety of options, along with many different side choices, some for an additional charge. There truly is something for everyone. While the rehearsal dinner space itself was not ideal, the food, service, and overall selection still made for a positive experience.

But they came quickly. Waitress/bartender took awhile to see us & take our order. Again not bad just okay. Soup (their French onion) was only okay as well. No real robust flavor. I wouldn't go out of my way eating here.

For the hand-cut meats, we tried the brisket and pulled pork. Both were incredibly tender, smoky, and practically melted in your mouth. We also ordered the cornbread and mac and cheese, and both were standout sides. The cornbread was huge, dense, and still perfectly moist. I was a little worried the mac and cheese would be too spicy because of the Hot Cheetos, but it actually had just the right amount of kick. The combination of creamy mac and crunchy Cheetos made it extra flavorful. To finish the meal, we shared a burger, and wow , it was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. You do have to order at the counter, but the staff was super friendly and helpful. They gave us great recommendations on which meats to try, which made the experience even better.
