    50 year reunion.

I'm a bit late saying thank you to the whole gang. We celebrated our 50 year St. Anne's grade school reunion and we had a wonderful time! The food and drinks were great. Thanks again from the class of '73.

A place where everybody knows your name! I hadn't been to the Blue Heron in several years after having been an "out of town" regular for some time. A family illness kept me away for several years. A couple days ago I was in Barrington for the first time in a long time. I walked into the Heron and was treated like the Prodigal Son. Addie, still running the place, tending bar and cooking amazing pub food. The same bunch of regulars that I'd said goodbye to years ago greeted me as though I'd just left the room a minute ago. All sitting 6 feet apart and watching whatever sports can be found on TV. But there's more to the story than that. You see that ill family member was my wife of 33 years, Mary Jo. I had returned to Barrington to lay her to rest in the town of her birth. Upon learning the reason for my return Addie organized a (very) impromptu wake. He whipped up a rum and lemon concoction based on her drink of choice: Bacardi Limon and Diet Coke. He dubbed it the "Mary Jo Shot". Toasts were given and eyes grew misty. The Blue Heron is more than a building where you can watch a game, have a beer and get a great pizza. It's a community. It's an institution. One for which I will always be great full. I'll see you all next time I pass through town.

Based on the great reviews posted here, we wanted to try the Blue Heron. When we asked, we were told that the kitchen was closed "until the owner gets back because he is the cook." No indication when that would be was offered so we finished our drinks and left. Disappointing.

Not sure if Addie serves the perch and walleye on other days but he has it on Friday for sure .

Each creation was thoughtfully crafted with exquisite flavors. The entire team was warm, attentive and made the evening special from start to finish. We went on a Tuesday night and, to our…read moresurprise, were the only guests in the restaurant -- which turned the entire dinner into a deeply personal, almost private dining experience. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by Jimmy, our butler/bartender, we felt welcomed and taken care of. The hospitality was warm without being stiff, and the service had a level of attentiveness you rarely find anymore. Chef Robert Gadsby personally came out to introduce himself and his team, and he remained hands‑on throughout the entire evening. Over the course of 12 beautifully crafted courses served across about 2 1/2 hours, he tailored each dish to our tastes. Before every course, they asked thoughtful questions about what we liked, what we didn't, and what we were curious to try. It truly felt like the menu was being created just for us. The only small downside -- and I mention this with appreciation for the chef's passion -- is that Chef Gadsby spent quite a bit of time sitting with us and talking during the meal. He's a wonderful man with fascinating stories, but at times I would have preferred to simply savor the flavors and enjoy the quiet moments between courses. Still, his enthusiasm for his craft is undeniable. Overall, the food, the service, and the level of personalization made this one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had. We will absolutely be back. I highly recommend Noe to anyone who considers themselves a foodie or loves a meal tailored to their tastes. And if you can, try going on a quieter night -- the personalized experience becomes even more special.

Amanda's energy and passion was outstanding. The tour was about 45 minutes and includes a tasting flight. Since I do not drink bourbon, they allowed my to substitute a drink. There were so many options that I was interested in trying, but after discussing what I like with Amanda, she suggested the Lavender Haze. The lavender syrup is made in house and was sweet, with a floral taste . The drink was excellent. They have open mic nights and live music. They are expanding into the adjacent space in the next few months. It was interesting to hear all of the logistics involved in moving equipment into the new space. We will be back !

Unfortunately they do not offer food options but you can bring your own. They make their own Bourbon,Gin ,Vodka and Rum which pairs well with their huge selection of crafted cocktails. The prices for the cocktails are slightly more than one would expect but then again you are not paying any cover charge to hear live music and frankly, they are sooo delicious. We tried the Blood Orange Mai Tai which was a daily special,Banana Rum Old Fashion and a Classic Old Fashion. Can't pick a favorite because they were all our favorites!
