Our wait staff was upper friendly and attentive and did a great job with our visit. We all ordered different food. I had the nachos with brisket. Amazing and a massive plate of them! My gf had the flatbread with the cauliflower crust and ate nearly the whole thing. We also had the smashburger and the Thai bowl. It was all so delish. We randomly stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening and were happy to find bar bingo AND a fried chicken dinner special. Bar bingo cards were $1 and you could play one at a time without buying a packet. The vibe is cozy rustic and had V-day decor. My husband and I shared the fried chicken dinner with fries and green beans as our side and we both thought the chicken was juicy with a flavorful crispy coating. Great fries! We were in Eagan and had two hours while our daughter was at a birthday party, and we asked a friend for a restaurant suggestion. Without hesitation, he told us to go to Yankee Tavern. We were seated right away, and the Halloween decorations were awesome! (Our son loved walking around and checking out all the spooky creatures while we waited for our food.) $3 Hamms pints during Happy Hour? Yes, please! The kiddo had a cheeseburger with fries and a chocolate milk. The burger was huge! My husband and I split the six piece fried chicken, Memphis Hot! This came with three sides of our choice, so we got tater tots, Szechuan green beans, and coleslaw. It was SO MUCH food! We took half home and had it for lunch the next day. I've been to Yankee Tavern many times with family and friends. Decided to get the dry rub chicken wings and cheeseburger flatbread for the first time, and OMG they were both SO GOOD!!! We had a wonderful time, seeing family and celebrating Easter together. We arrived early for a reservation and there was no hostess at the door. After about 15 minutes, I asked the Easter bunny if they knew where the hostess was and they asked if they could help us and I said we just wanted to know where our table was, they looked it up and they showed us. We went and sat down and waited for our other family members to join us. No server ever came over to our table. Even after we were all there, nobody still came. I got up and went to the other side of the bar to find somebody. I asked a woman if we could get some water. And because the place setting wasn't for nine people only eight I asked if we could get more silverware and a plate. She was very kind and very apologetic and said I'm sorry I didn't know you were over there waiting and came and helped us. The food was OK.. There wasn't much for a dessert, but the prime rib was delicious and so was the chicken. We probably won't go back again. But it was a nice day. read more

Did I take photos of my food here? No. Am I out of practice from living through a pandemic? Maybe. But I think the real reason is the efficient, friendly service and the incredible food! So my friend lives nearby and requested this spot for our happy hour. Boy was it worth the drive! I just had a perfectly fine citrusy beer for my drink and then water since I was the designated driver. I did get a taste of their not so old fashioned & damn! It was great! Wonderful flavor and strong. Get that! Four of us shared brisket nachos. Delicioso!! Great flavors from the queso & brisket to the pickled red onions. For a Yankee gringo establishment our Mexican friend gave those nachos a thumbs up! Everything else everyone ordered looked amazing! And there were only compliments. The hot turkey dinner plate, the Cucumber chicken sandwich, prime rib French dip, the Memphis hot chicken tenders, the fried cod sandwich, the Southern fried chicken with Mac and cheese, and the State Fair turkey sammie with Au jus!! Such savory home cooking! Plus the kitchen got the food out so fast for a busy Friday night!! I took half of my State Fair turkey sammie home and ate it for lunch the next day. Superb!! First time coming to Yankee Tavern on 6/11/2021. The place was clean, the tables were spaced well enough for social distancing and the booths had covered partition in between. The staff was attentive and pleasant, our server kept excellent track of what everybody was ordering (our party arrived at different times and some had dinner and others didn't). This place has been a solid win win for a long time, however the last times we've been here it was disappointing. We were surprised how empty it was but quickly figured out why. The servers are still awesome but there's a new bartender that seems to attract patrons who disrupt the entire restaurant. Our meals were okay, but the drinks were all ice, even after we finished them the glasses were still full of ice. I hope they bring back the previous bar manager or someone like him, he always thanked us when we left, even though we were not sitting at the bar, and the food was also much better. read more

Service was excellent. The food was pretty good as well. Good sized portions. The overall feel of the restaurant is good. Music playing on the jukebox and TVs on with no volume. Oddly what I liked the most was the perks of the bathroom. It's kind of nice when you go to the bathroom and the owners add small touches like hairspray, body spray and free feminine hygiene products. It's thoughtful. Hey, I like this place! These owners have created a great venue that is a cross between a clean city dive, a supper club and a sports bar. It had all my favorite elements I look for in finding a new relaxing establishment for food, drink, tunes, sports on the tv and some friendly staff and patrons. Bartender Scott was behind the bar tonight by himself and he was working his tail off! My husband and I enjoyed a couple of drinks that were very reasonably priced. An IPA for $5.25 each and a Tuesday night margarita special for $3.50. We enjoyed the dry rub wings $10.50 with a large bowl of blue cheese dressing and the reaper burger that was spicy "hot"!... but pretty darn good. Most items don't typically come with a side ( which is just fine) so we did order the Parmesan crusted Mac and cheese and it really was good- not sure I really have ever order Mac and cheese at a restaurant without being with children. We finished our dinner and walked outside to the patio deck- what a nice spot with beautiful flowers where we could see several groups playing bocce ball and also getting bar service. How cool is that? We would love to return this summer with some friends and or family on a lazy weekend afternoon and soak up some sun and fun. Oh.. by the way. They have hard boiled eggs on the bar. Can't say much about the inside, we walked through to get to the back deck, and it seemed somewhat "bland" compared to the cool exterior. We enjoyed eating on the back deck. The service was spotty--fast at times, and then it seemed we'd wait for a while. Since their smoked pork seemed to be featured in half the dishes (okay that's an exaggeration, but it is everywhere on the menu) I decided to try a sandwich. And it was very good--perhaps not the best pork I've ever had, but tasty and not dry (as some smoked items can be). Our drinks were good, but nothing particularly exciting. Good, not great. Was here for an early dinner on a Sunday. Their entrance is a little cramped and you feel like you're standing on top of the people at the bar. There's a bit of an odd smell when you first walk in. Like old barn or something? Hard to place and a little off-putting. Service was great! Yankee Tavern feels like a typical suburban bar experience, but better somehow. It's a comfortable place with adequate seating and seems like a place where regulars would gather with their friends frequently. The decor has a farmhouse feel with some animal pictures on the walls contributing to it. I was really impressed by the service that we received. Everything was really great. Especially the food. The Crispy Chicken sandwich was quite a trip. I love fried chicken and this restaurant knows how to make it really well. The chicken was crispy, as advertised by the name, but also tender and juicy on the interior. It was a perfect sandwich. I had the pico de gallo on the side so it wouldn't interfere with the crispiness of the chicken. It worked to just add it on with each bite. I like thicker cuts of fries and the steak fries here were to my taste. I remember them being good, but the chicken won me over and it's all I can remember. Was disappointed in the quality of the food. A group of 6 went for dinner. I was happy to find a local spot with a pleasant ambiance. However, it was freezing cold in there. Save money and turn up the temp! Second, all of our 6 dinners were disappointing. My bacon grilled cheese was not toasted, just slightly brown and limp and the cheese was warm but not melted. It is supposed to be gooey! My friends french dip was so smoked and overcooked she could not eat it even with dipping in the sauce. Another had the Italian Ham sandwich and one half of the sandwich had no ham in it! She did say something and they took half off her bill but she would rather have ham in her ham sandwich. The salads were piles of lettuce so they looked huge but had little to offer besides lettuce leaves. My boyfriend had a BLT and he said, well you can't mess up a BLT! Definitely a "different" menu compared to what you find in the area but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. We had the turkey dinner and a two piece fried chicken with a side of Brussel sprouts. It was all very good. The chicken has a very nice crunchy skin and was cooked very well. The turkey has a very Smokey flavor which isn't typically the way that I like my turkey so I wouldn't order the dish again but it was still a good dish just not my personal preference. This is a great spot for breakfast if a) You want a heavy meal, b) You like country music and c) You're looking for $3 mimosas or bloody Mary's. None of those things applied to me so I didn't love my experience but you should seriously consider it if they apply to you! The interior has a warm and comfortable feel- dark woods and low light. There is also a patio. Service was fast and friendly. Most of the patrons will be day-drinking. The menu though. Don't look for yogurt or fruit! It's a brisket hash, tater tot hot dish, chicken and waffles kind of place. They also have French toast (rolled in crushed Cinnamon Toast Crunch?!) and pancakes. This place is a sport type restaurant that has much less ambience noise than your typical bdubs. I had a pleasant conversation with the people who I came with ... which happens to be my brand new coworkers at my brand new job. Needless to say I didn't pay really close attention to the restaurant nor the prices ;). I was focusing on not getting fired and making history for shortest duration of employment ever. I ordered their jalapeno burger with the sweet potato fries. The burger was perfectly cooked and really melted in my mouth. The sweet potato fries were average, but they paired well with the burger and just tasted good because of the rarity that I get a chance to eat them. I noticed that two of my colleagues ordered salads and they both were quite large (the salads not the people, I swear that the people are skinny, fit and very very nice people, that hopefully won't fire me if they are reading this). 7/10 I would try this place again with less pressure to be a decent human bean and not lose a job. We stopped in here for a late dinner on Friday. They have Lent menu running now, but we were not there for that. I went with their southern fried chicken with Memphis hot seasoning. This is good stuff! I had the Louisiana Red Beans & Rice With Ham & Andouille. Very good, spicy, flavorful, cannot stop eating it. My GF went with English Fish and Chips. This is cod loin floured then fried crispy, steak fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce. You get 3 pieces of fish instead of two that the Lent Menu had. This is a better deal if you're hungry. Very well done, not over breaded, crispy, not greasy, and wonderful with malt vinegar. Good stuff. We started the dinner with their fresh made potato chips and blue cheese dip. There's good people working here, friendly and attentive. The servings are large, the prices are reasonable, the drinks are fair priced and strong. We started off with some appetizers: spinach and artichoke dip that came with tortilla chips, queso and chips and an order of their cheese curds. I thought their dips were tasty but a little on the watery side. Their cheese curds were very strange, it was in squares/cubes that looked like tofu at first. I prefer the typical original style cheese curds so I wasn't a big fan of these and didn't like the dipping sauce that came with it as well. For dinner I ordered the American bowl which was a bowl of mashed potatoes with deep fried chicken pieces, cheese, corn, and topped with gravy, sour cream and green onion. Drove to Eagan to have dinner at Burgers & Bottles. When the hostess informed us the deep fryer was broken and they were unable to serve fries, cheese curds, etc. we hightailed it outta there and turned to Yelp for suggestions. Yankee Tavern was not far away and it turned out to be a marvelous choice! They have a large parking lot and the lighting inside is dim and cozy. I am prone to headaches and dark lighting is my best friend. We did see an older couple using the light of their iPhone to view the menu so be prepared. We sat ourselves at a table and were greeted within seconds of removing our coats. Having never been there I asked our waitress if they offered a full bar. The answer was yes. Thank goodness for small blessings in life. I ordered a Long Island and the husband ordered a Fresh Squeeze. Drinks were a little slow to arrive but they seemed to be quite busy so let's give the staff a break. For dinner the husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries. I asked if they could top an order of fries with the ingredients of the texas nachos and was again told yes. The waitress was kind enough to inform me that their fries are the wedge variety and I was okay with that. The food arrived faster compared to the drinks. The pace had seemed to slow down by then. Husband was very happy with his sandwich. Tons of tender pork that left a delicious mess on the plate to clean up with a fork when he was done. He liked the wedge fries but learned afterward that there were several other sides he could have chosen from. He says when he comes back he will the mac and cheese as we saw that go by several times and it looked amazing. My meal was tasty as well but the wedge fries were a bit much. They were covered with queso, chicken, pico, lettuce and picked onions. Yes, I did love it but it would have been a better if the fries were thinner. I bet I had about 8 baked potatoes on my plate! That being said, I was only able to finish about half of it. I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. The bathrooms were very clean and can equipped with soap and towels (duh) but also minus, perfume, tampons and a diaper changing station complete with diapers. I myself do not have children but found it to be a nice touch. The waitress came around often to check in on us and thanked us for coming and informed us that since it was out first time there that our drinks WERE FREE! How freaking nice it that?!?! I have to like it; my dad's bff used to own it when it was the Valley. I can't help it! The menu is a little weird, I'm not going to lie, but I think they'll fin their way. I'm glad that some of the old staff stuck around. I love what they did with the kitchen. I kind of wish they would have brightened it up in there; it's really dark and the windows could be larger. I really like what they did with the patio in the back, mostly because there is one! also because all of the cars and appliances are gone! The old Valley sign is a really nice touch! Came in Monday night to try their hotdish special. Looked good on the promo photo that was on the bar. Standard mn hotdish with tater tots and cheese. Said it was stuffed with spicy chicken. When it arrived it was in a bowl, and the spicy chicken mix was on a bed of rice. No tater tots or cheese. Not sure if they were out or what was going on, but the advertising and what constitutes a hotdish/casserole is not even close to chicken on a bed of rice. I've not even heard of rice in a casserole, or at least the bottom part of the casserole. Now if they label it as a rice bowl with spicy chicken, bingo that's what ya got. Or kind of a jambalaya with spicy chicken. But hotdish?? Very dissatisfied, might be back if others drag me. read more

Five of us went in to order lunch around 11:10 Saturday. We were immediately greeted and received our menus. Waited a few minutes and she came to take our drink order. We ordered beverages and picked out the food we wanted to order...waitress came and quickly put our drinks on the table and immediately left... never taking our food order. After 20 minutes or so we thought she forgot about us... most of us had finished our drinks ... so we flagged down another waitress asking if someone could please take our order... she said sure... not sure where she went...then we saw our waitress slowly walking around and putzing with stuff... finally got her attention and she wandered over ... I explained to her that we have been waiting a long time to get our order and the kids were hungry, we couldn't wait that long any longer and we're leaving. Instead of apologizing, she said fine, I don't really care, and brought the bill! We left at 11:55. Will not be returning. We went to the Italian Pie Shop instead, just a few blocks away and got excellent food and service. read more

I really want to like the Yankee Tavern. Its tucked away in an out of the way spot along Highway 13 that after a number of years as what could best be described as a dive was fully renovated and turned into a real showplace. A definite improvement on what was there previously. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner so you can choose from pancakes to sandwiches to chicken fried steak. The menu is about as extensive as it comes so you shouldn't have any problem finding something to try. The server was pushing the fried chicken and on another night I might have gone that direction (it did sound really good). As I'm prone to do I drifted over to the burger section and ordered the Double Yankee (two patties, ham, sauteed onions, cheddar cheese, bacon, and a fried egg). Also ordered the fries. The burger was tasty. The problem with it was that it was sitting in a little pool of grease as though the meat patties had been placed on the bun bottom immediately after cooking. It was soggy and of course fell apart the second I touched it so I had to resort to the old knife and fork technique to eat my now deconstructed burger. The fries were different. Not what I expected, but fine. They were, in essence, an entire potato that had an almost baked potato feel with the skin being crispy. I would have enjoyed it more with a steak or some kind of chop. With a burger, it threw me a little but was ok. I'm thinking next time I might just try that fried chicken. The beer and wine list is a decent length. Wasn't feeling too adventurous so I went with my favorite Surly Furious. Bathrooms are really nice. My burger falling apart on me put me in a bit of a mood, but it happens.
