My boss took me here for lunch and the place wasn't too busy, decor was nice but service was BAD! They have a prifixe lunch menu but it felt like 20 minutes before the waiter took our order, the chicken shawarma which came with babaganoush was however pretty good! read more

Amazing Lebanese food! The Grilled Halloumi is phenomenal and should be the first thing you order as an appetizer. Kefta had very tender and juicy meats. The meats are all halal as well which is a nice plus. Staff was very friendly and service was fast. Highly recommend! read more

This place had such great review! We live in the neighborhood and was hoping so much that this would be our neighborhood spot. The food is really mediocre. We had the chicken wrap which came with fries and a lamb okra dish. The pita breads were completely cold when it came out. Very dissapointing! The hummus was mediocre, i prefer a smoother texture and more tahini. The drinks also took longer than the foods which ruined the whole meal. The dj there that night was really cool, almost felt like we were at a turkish club of some sorts. His music was bomb! But kind of made it tough to have intimate conversations. Excellent new casual spot that I'm so glad I had an opportunity to visit in it's early stages. It's my understanding they have only been open for a week at this point and there are definitely some growing pains that the wait staff is undergoing. But the quality of the food more than makes up for it. The food was just incredible on all levels and full of flavors that I couldn't even begin to describe. By the time you read this, I'm sure all the kinks will have been worked out. I'm already excited to go back again and see how they've progressed. The first thing you notice about Yara when you enter is its beautiful decor as you make your way inside from the cold reaches of winter. Dinning is on the first floor with a bar area located downstairs. They also have a working fire place upstairs that you can rest by and warm yourself while waiting for your remaining party to arrive. Both floors are quite spacious so you should never feel crowded inside. After enjoying your pre dinner cocktail at the bar level (which also includes a lounge area with comfortable chairs and tables) you can make your way back up to to the dinning area to enjoy your food. Our table started with the hummus, babaganoush, and the kibbe nayeh (lamb tartare). All were amazing and set the table for what was to come next. So much flavor in each of these that there was not going to be much of a chance for leftovers... there weren't! Entrees consisted of the grilled kefta, lamb chops and the lamb okra. Again - nothing left to take home as everything was devoured. Also experienced their freshly cut French fries and their spicy potatoes. Wow!!!! Again - the flavor is amazing. I had to force myself to stop eating. If you are looking for a hot new spot to try - I can't recommend Yara enough. We will definitely be back! read more

This place is a great update to the restaurant here previously. It's rare to find authentic Lebanese food in Manhattan. Most restaurants will try to modernize it to a point where I struggle to see it as that. Not this place. They keep it true to the original formula and the modern decor is welcoming. What we ordered: - Kibbeh Nayeh: This is a traditional raw lamb dish mixed with bulgur wheat and spices. You take a spoonful, put into some pita with some olive oil and raw onion. It's delicious. Doesn't seem like it should work but it does and it's great - Muhammara: Sort of a red pepper dip. Sweet and a little spicy. - Beef Hummus: Hummus with ground beef on top. - Soujouk: Lebanese sausage. Kinda like a merguez. - Dessert: Some dense syrup cake with rose water. Small but was a perfect after dinner bite for how full we were. Definitely recommend you coming by this place. We loved everything we ordered. Lebanese food is sort of family style for the appetizers. Usually you eat so much you don't have room for an entree and that's exactly what my friend and I did. Only constructive feedback I have was the music got a little loud when happy birthday came on for a table. Was a little jarring and we noticed the other patrons making faces too. Easy fix though. I've only been here once so far but this is a really great location with excellent cocktails. I loved the ambience and it's nice to have somewhere trendy and upscale in an area that's mostly more casual. It's beautiful inside and I could definitely see this being great for a birthday party. Came here recently with a group of 6, and we all really liked the ambiance and the decor of the place! We came on a weekday night after work and sat at one of the round tables. We were there for a special occasion and one of our friends could not have alcohol, so they were very kind and brought us non alcoholic beverages that we could toast with without us even asking. They staff was really friendly and attentive throughout the night. We also enjoyed the food. We ordered several different appetizers, including the beet falafel, the beef hummus, and the haloumi cheese. They were all really good! I was surprised by the beef hummus, which I hadn't had before. There were small beef pieces in the hummus, would definitely adds substance to the app. And for the beet falafel, I couldn't tell it was beet and it was really yummy! We also ordered tsaziki (sp?), potatoes (really good), and fries from what I can remember. For the mains we all got an assortment. I ended up getting the kibbeh (?) with yogurt. I thought the description was a little confusing because it says it comes with yogurt sauce and the waitress said it's covered in something crispy. It ended up being a sort of warm yogurt soup with the meat inside and rice accompanying it on the side. The meat tasted good, but it's definitely not what I had expected. I am giving Yara 3 stars overall for outstanding customer service and decent food. I chose Yara based on other yelper reviews. Either the chef had an off night when we dined there or I walked into a different establishment... Lol. We sampled a few dishes and found most to be decent-good; but nothing amazing to the extent I will likely return or recommend. The lamb okra dish was bland; filet mignon kabobs a little tough; and the house rice meh. I have tasted middle-eastern cuisine from Doha - Maldives - Sri Lanka - Morocco - and food trucks..: ) so I do have some memory of what that should be... sorry Yara didn't do it for me. Yara could have been good but the flatbread served with our mezze and sandwiches was definitely not fresh. It was like eating thick brown paper - tasteless and tough. It's so easy and fast to throw flatbread dough on the grill, not sure why day old, dried out food was served to us. I was surprised by the good ratings other reviewers gave Yara. From the host to the waitstaff, Yara is staffed by such kind, attentive, warm, polished and utterly accommodating professionals. (Ali F. and the host/ owner, Linda, are always utterly delightful and impeccably attentive.) The Lebanese food is yummy with many tasty vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The moussakaa is a delicious, well seasoned eggplant, tomato and onion mezze. The eggplant salad is equally delicious with no tomato and served cold. The Yara salad is fresh and flavorful. The falafel (both beet and original) and Haloumi are also very well executed. The kefta is well spiced and cooked to order. The grilled chicken and filet mignon kabobs are so yummy. The lamb chops are outstanding, well seasoned and grilled to perfection. Even the desserts at Yara need special recognition. The coffee and baklava are rich, flavorful and delicious. The yogurt dessert is fantastic and the namoura is incredible...a moist, baked and buttery semolina cake infused with orange and pistachio. We have returned again and again and again to YARA for the stellar service, yummy food, lovely ambiance and something for everyone to enjoy menu ( carnivores, vegans, vegetarians, gluten free, keto, etc. etc.) YARA is a true neighborhood gem and one of our favorite "go to" restaurants.
