I have never had a worst dining experience. We came here for a birthday dinner and everything was wrong from service to food. Our order was incorrect multiple times. The filet mignon came out over cooked. The lentil soup tasted almost like a cleaning solution. The server and bartender we're getting our drinks wrong all night or forgetting to ring them in or bring them out. They gave us a complementary dessert for the birthday girl and I take a bite and there is a literally a piece of a wire brush. The owner Linda was so sweet about the situation but it's still unresolved. We waited almost 30 minutes to get our check. Our table consisted of over 30 years of being in the restaurant industry collectively and none of us had ever been so angry with a dinner. This was our first and last time ever coming here. BRAVO. We don't get to new restaurants often enough and as our granddaughter and fiance recently moved to 52nd Street and First Avenue and found Yara we went last night. There were five of us and we each ordered a couple of small plates which we shared as appetizers and entrees. Everything was terrific. Our plan is to return and eat through the menu then pick the 5 or 6 things we like best and focus on them going forward. I particularly liked the fallafel and the bread pudding squares that came with the ice cream. As the restaurant is popular, our granddaughter reserved a table for 6:30pm so we beat the crowd. We normally eat later than that but it turns out that this was a good strategy. The design of Yara is upscale and staff quite pleasant. Obviously, we'll be back. read more

When the waiter told me the best thing on the menu was everything, I didn't think it was possible. We ordered mezzes for the table, the falafel (which we ordered more of it was so good), babaganoush, hummus, yara fries, cauliflower with tahini, and sambosik cheese. Everything tasted so fresh and was so delicious I didn't want to stop! The staff was so friendly, accommodating, and made our experience so worthwhile. I would have given 5 stars, but the service was lacking for a Friday night. It seemed like that had about half the amount of servers that they should have had. Everyone was running around like they were lost. That being said, the girl who tended to us the majority of the time was lovely. Food was awesome. Went here because of the great Yelp reviews and was very disappointed. While some of the food was good, the service was appalling. We were there for 95 minutes only got a water refill after they brought the check which took 4 requests and 35 minutes. It was 20 minutes before someone came to take our order and food took another 30 and came out wrong. Don't waste your time, there are far better restaurants who want your business. read more

I came here for a midweek dinner with a friend. Super easy to get to from the subway, intimate chic/swanky ambiance, and friendly waitstaff. We got distracted chatting for quite a bit before looking at the menu, but our waiter was super nice and didn't rush us at all. We shared a variety of dishes and each was better than the next! // Babaganoush (grilled Eggplant, sesame, and tahini): YUM. This was creamy and delicious - garlicky without being overpowering, and served with pita chips to dip. This definitely got devoured! // Yara Salad (Tomato, Onion, Cucumber, Olive Oil, Lemon): We ordered this thinking it was something slightly different than the usual Israeli/Mediterranean/Greek Salad, but it was pretty similar. That's not a bad thing, it was delicious, fresh, and we gobbled it all up. // Cauliflower (fried cauliflower): yum yum yum!! This was SO delicious. It's hard not to be delicious when frying things, but the cauliflower was perfectly lightly fried, served with a green sauce which was delicious (although I have no idea what it was). // Spinach pie : pretty sure this is just spanakopita but it was delicious. Served in a different shape than the traditional triangle or roll, but really flavorful and yummy. // Salmon special (veggies, rice): Hands down my favorite dish of the night. The salmon was fresh and delicious, served with rice and veggies, and some sort of sauce on the side - absolutely mouth watering. Great Lebanese food in a fun environment. Yara an authentic Lebanese Restaurant. ok... First.. I will say the food was very good.. close to what I have had in friends' homes.. Never will go back , even though we enjoyed the food. The NOISE was overwhelming.. The walls are brick, floors a hard material.. No tableclothes to help absorb the noise. Every surface in the place is designed to magnify the sound. By the end of the meal, we were shouting at one another. Wait staff.. needs training. We had to ask to speak to our Waiter on several occasions.Ordered Mint tea.. got tea with a mint leaf.. the list goes on.. Perhaps at lunch time, the noise would be less. but I am not going to find out. read more

Don't bother! The owner/manager was very nice and accommodating but then he looked me straight in the eyes telling me everything is fresh and organic. The beets in the beet salad were canned! It was pathetic! The spinach pie was something you can get from a street vendor and the salmon had rice pilaf from a box. Nothing stood out or was particularly good. I held a dinner here for around 30 students on Monday and it couldn't have gone any better! The staff and management were superb and everything was set up perfectly. Round tables made for easy conversation and I got to see so many student to get to know one another because of the thoughtful set up. The food was delicious and the hummus to die for! The decor is also stylish, beautiful, and warm. Mo and staff made everything easy and took care of my student's needs especially those with dietary restrictions. The hummus is absolutely delicious, along with the mixed grill! Both the owner and the chef did a great job to cohesively create the perfect food and drink menus. We were visiting Manhattan for our anniversary, and picked Yara based on the reviews. When we arrived, we did not have a reservation, but the waitress directed us downstairs to their bar where there was full service. The downstairs bar was great, nicely appointed, and was like a little oasis in the city. Furthermore, we had one on one service with the downstairs barman Mauricio was exceptional, and really enhanced our experience. Mauricio had an excellent touch of being attentive without being crowding, and was more than happy to give us recommendations on the most popular dishes (which were fantastic) , as well as socialize. Great Lebanese food in midtown! Perfect place to bring your parents or a dressy-ish first date. The falafel was crispy on the outside, cooked to perfection on the inside. Went here for our first indoor dining experience in a while. Felt super comfortable and safe. The food was excellent, the server was attentive but never made us feel rushed or like we were being sold. Tasty food, good atmosphere, reasonably priced.... what else can you ask for? This is close to 5. The only reasons I give 4 (not5) are: 1) maybe because my friend did not like this place or the food. There was nothing wrong with the food, and I believe she had never had Lebanese food and it was all strange to her.... 2)the owner seems to pay a lot more attention to a wealthier looking couple next to us and we felt judged to be honest. We did not underdress, but they were quite dressed up and the owner kept on talking to them in a loud voice, which kind of disturbed us.... Beautiful spot but sub par food. The chicken kebab and lamb kebab weren't spiced properly and we needed lots of hot sauce to get any flavor. Zaatar fries are lightly sprinkled and taste like regular fries, for dessert the baklava looked like it came from a box and the crepes seemed like they were premade and just rolled and given to us. Lovely decor. The place is named after the owner's daughter, which I thought was so cute. The hummus, falafel, and babaganoush were delicious. My friend ordered the shakshouka and the portion size was way bigger than expected. At a typical brunch place they probably give you 2 eggs but she got 5! The pita bread was nice and warm. Food is quite yummy. Best hummus and pita bread I've had so far in NYC - the pita is made from scratch and takes 3 days to make. The hummus is very finely ground, super creamy and has almost a chewy texture. Cocktails are very good as well, tried the bourbon based ones which were all very good. Wine is overpriced here, expect to pay $18 for a glass of Cabernet which was just okay. read more
