pleasant warm spices. -Platters- My group has the Yara mixed grill and shawarma beef, which they enjoyed. I didn't try these dishes because I'm vegetarian. Okra - great tomato sauce and pleasantly soft okra. Paired well with the rice served on the side. We got an enormous amount of food for a total bill of about $205. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and has plenty of space for large parties. Definitely give this one a try.

Went for a party to Yara so we ordered a ton of different options. Vibes were great, not too busy for a Saturday night. The waiter and staff were also super helpful. Main critics were the bread/pita and hummus. I've never had staler bread/pita in my life. Wasn't soft at all and was tough to break apart. The plain hummus was also pretty salty. However besides that, the food was great. Highly recommend the eggplant dip.

Stodgy no-frills Lebanese stalwart typical of East Midtown. To their credit they do have a number of Lebanese items that are otherwise hard to find in Manhattan - so I suggested this as an option for a recent work dinner. We shared a wide selection of mezzes. The best was the eggplant fatteh, which was the reason I came - the eggplant and pita chips were very nicely textured with the yogurt. I also quite enjoyed the spiced potatoes, i.e. batata harra. The vegan kibbeh and Zahra mekhla were not the best renditions I've had. I would have appreciated a bit more tahini on the cauliflower, and the kibbeh were a bit too sweet. The hummus was passable. The kunefe was typical of the Levantine style, with a soft semolina layer without kadayif, and went nicely with a glass of white coffee as a digestif of sorts.

We had a great experience at Yara from start to finish. The restaurant has an upscale feel with a very modern and polished interior. Service was attentive and welcoming throughout the meal. We started with the babaganouj, which was excellent, and my main dish was the shish tawook. It was very tasty, well portioned, and made for an overall satisfying experience!

We rolled into Yara on a Sunday night, just me, my wife, and our friend, thinking we'd get something lowkey and ended up with this calm, classy dinner in Midtown that felt like a little secret spot. The place is modern, the lighting is soft, and our server was this old school gentleman who probably knows more about hospitality than I know about anything. He was calm, precise, and totally unfazed by my chaotic order of mezze, wine, and the Yara mixed grill like we were prepping for a meat-based expedition. The Lebanese wine was smooth in a way that made me want to say "notes of oak" even though I have no clue what that means. Left full and weirdly inspired.

Our party of 7 tried a number of mezze and platter dishes and there were plenty of vegan options for our vegan in the group to select from. Among everything we ordered included hummus and spicy hummus - both bowls were scraped clean, it was soooo good -- plus moussakaa, falafel, and cauliflower mezzes. Everything was delicious! I had the lemon sole, which could've done with a lot less salt, but the whole dish was delicious and I left nothing behind (except for some bones). Our dinner was made all the more memorable by our waiter who was funny/super nice! Knowing it was my birthday, once dinner was over, out came a birthday torch and accompanying baklawa w delicious cotton candy topping (on the house, which was a nice surprise). Two others celebrated their birthdays there while we were there, so it's quite popular for birthday celebrations. I look forward to returning some day soon, and I will recommend this restaurant to my friends.

They have a semi-private dining section which is slightly tucked away from the regular dining area. It's classy, traditional, and cozy. From the brick wall to the colored wall to the chandelier, it actually feels like you're at home sitting in a dining room. About 2 weeks before, we contacted them to inquire and received a prompt response from Norman. Norman is the man!! He was super responsive and was there the whole time ensuring we had everything we needed, chatting with the families, and being entertaining lol. All the food came out in a timely manner and everything tasted delicious. Where do I begin? From all the appetizers we got to the Yara Mixed Grill, it was truly a taste of Lebanon in the heart of NYC. The must orders for me were the Hummus, Babaghanouj, Fatoush, and Yara Mixed Grill. You know the chef is talented when every piece of meat in the Yara Mixed Grill came out super tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. The Yara Fries were also super addictive! No matter what you order, you will not have a bad bite here. The chef even came out to greet us which was a nice touch. Being Lebanese and a native New Yorker, I couldn't have asked for a better place to have this event. I can't recommend Yara enough and look forward to coming back!

I've been here a few times and love the food and service here. This time I came for my birthday. The hostess was very thoughtful and offered a vase with water to place my birthday flowers in while we dined. They also sang happy birthday for me :) I always get the babaghanouj and kebab platter. I'm not a huge fan of Mediterranean/lebanese food so I say I'm a rather harsh critic. But the food was good! The hummus was delicious and came with pita bread (5 decent sized pitas I counted lol). I got the goat fossolia which came with rice and the lamb was superrrr tender. Like you don't need a knife. My friends got the chicken shawarma and those fries were to die for lol along with the garlicky white sauce it came with. We also got the warak einab which was so comforting honestly. Our waiter was kind enough to tell us how to each certain dishes which was very helpful. Service was great and our waters were refilled several times. The place is rather quite fancy and upscale compared to places I usually go to but still casual enough for a random dinner! The owner I believe was super kind and even came outside of the restaurant to help us take a picture when we were struggling!! That was so kind of him and wanted to say thanks for making the pics perfect like he said he will!!!

My husband & I and some friends came into the city from Sayville. After a lovely afternoon at the Vessel, we decided to try a new restaurant in town - Yara. We were delighted with our new find. We began our evening in the lounge with beautiful ambience & comfy seating. The bartender was charming & helpful, steering me to try Fragaria ( strawberries & lime. rum topped off with Prosecco). Wow! Fantastic! At dinner, the five of us tried almost everything (sharing was easy & fun since there was ample food & each dish better than the last). If I wrote about each delicious dish, I'ld have to write the entire menu out. The waiters and the manager were so friendly and helpful. Yara will definitely be on our "must go to" list. Restaurant was empty on a Saturday night. The waitress clearly looked like she didn't want to be there - she had airpods on the entire time and disappeared for 20-30 minute periods. Didn't check on our table a single time after taking our orders (which wasn't done for 20 minutes after sitting down, despite the restaurant being empty). The service doesn't justify the expensive food, which wasn't very good at all. Stay away. read more

I came here for dinner with my gf after seeing the positive reviews on Yelp. It turned out to be an underwhelming experience to say the least. I'll get the good out of the way first...the decor is appealing and the ambience was alright. The hostess and the bus boy were very polite and attentive. Unfortunately the same can't be said for our waitress. We waited for about 15 minutes after we were seated before she decided to end what must've been an enthralling conversation with another staff member and decided to walk over. She didn't offer to take our drink or appetizer orders, instead she sounded annoyed and couldn't be bothered naming the specials or answering our questions about the different entrees. I swore she must be related to the owner or the management if she still had a job as a waitress with that attitude and performance, or lack thereof. Anyways we placed our orders and when the food finally arrived I was extremely underwhelmed by the presentation and the taste. I'd hate to say it but I've had better shawarma from the food trucks in Astoria. At this price point & in this neighborhood there's simply no excuse for it. I don't see myself coming back here anytime soon. read more

I recently came to Yara for a networking event on 3/26 and I loved it. I will definitely be back again. Pros: *The decor was classy, sleek and chic. I loved it and also heard alot of others admiring the feel and ambience of the place. *The drinks were great, just how i liked them. The bartender knew exactly the right twists. Their happy hour specials were at a good price. *From the hostess to the bartender the Service was top notch. Everyone was attentive despite there being a large crowd. *The food was good. Overall experience was okay. Food quality was good and meat was cooked as asked for, however I was expecting real filet mignon rather than strips of meat. Had a wonderful dinner tonight at this new-to-us place. Very elevated food, decor, service and zero attitude. Plus plenty of room between tables for conversation. When does THAT combo ever happen in NYC??? Plus we were greeted warmly by Yara's charming owner and made to feel most welcome. After dinner we went downstairs to their gorgeous lounge for a post-dinner glass of champagne. A great addition to the neighborhood! read more

I was very happy to have found a taste of home in the city :-). I discovered this Lebanese gem last Spring and have been coming here almost every week (more like multiple times a week) ever since. My favorite thing about the menu is the variety, from the more famous dishes like mezze, shawarma, and kababs to the more traditional Lebanese dishes like Kibbe b Laban, Kibbe b Sayniyeh, and Vegan Okra. The Shawarma sandwich is by far my favorite in the city. However, what attracted me the most to the restaurant and kept me coming is the bubbly and energetic manager. His positive and welcoming attitude are what make this place what it is. The staff is nice and fun as well. read more

On a one-day stop by NYC on our way back home, we (wife and two teenagers) searched for a Lebanese restaurant and could not have been happier with Yara. Having grown up eating Lebanese food in Brazil, it has been difficult to find good restaurants in the US for over 20+ years. Yara has been the best so far. We had labneh, grape leaves, riz, kibbe and kibbe nayeh. They had kibbe nayeh!!! This was a first here in the US and it was perfect. The quality of the food was outstanding. The service was good and the wait was short. My only suggestion is to have better pita breads but this is a small detail compared to the overall experience. This place was incredible. My friends picked it for my birthday dinner. The staff was incredible, very pleasant and professional. We met the owner-such a lovely woman (treated us like family!!). We were in a private dining area which felt just like being in someone's home. The atmosphere was great, food fantastic and lovely people and service. Very good good and surprisingly very affordable. I went with a group of 10 and they sat us in the side/ back room which was really nice. It kind of felt like we had our own special area. The atmosphere was fun and every time it's someone's birthday they blast the music very loud. Definitely a fun place to go for someone's birthday or just a night out. Servers seemed a bit annoyed to have to deal with us shortly before close as I think they were hoping to usher people out and close down maybe a little early. One the one hand I get it, on the other hand you've got two paying customers on a slow night.

The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. Since we had cocktails at dinner, we only stayed for one round. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my time at Patent Pending. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

I arrived in 2008 with very little, and when Graydon Carter revived the restaurant in 2009, I was beginning a rise of my own, first at a large global bank and then, to my astonishment, at one of the city's most powerful investment firms. The suits were daily, the walls were gold, and the pressure was so consuming that even success could feel like a form of attrition. After a few years, I moved to a smaller firm with Southern roots, where the culture was more humane, the work gave me greater autonomy, and I produced some of the strongest results of my career, even within an industry still governed by fear, greed, and status. Inside, the red booths, low lighting, generous spacing, and hand-painted monkey murals made lunch feel ceremonial without becoming stiff. The room was timeless and handsome, with polished service, quality food, and the subtle assurance of a place where you could be proud to bring someone important. I especially remember sitting in one of those booths with two mentors, each only a few years older than I was and therefore close enough in vintage to feel relatable, trustworthy, and genuinely within reach. One had entered my life after I left the larger firm and helped me understand an earlier chapter that had also ended abruptly and, at the time, felt deeply unfair; the other had guided me through the smaller firm where I finally found a more sustainable way to work. Over that long lunch, I introduced them, we discussed several promising ideas, and for a moment my career seemed to have reached the point where relationships, experience, and opportunity were finally converging. One of those ideas consumed an extraordinary amount of my time and energy, and I believed it might become the foundation of my next chapter. Instead, the arrangement eventually turned on me, the role I thought I had earned never materialized, and the business itself sputtered. My professional life, financial footing, and pride all collapsed just as COVID was beginning. Then Monkey Bar closed in 2020, which made the ending feel almost unnervingly complete: the restaurant, the city, and the version of myself built around New York finance all went dark at once. For years, I experienced that ending as devastating and unfair; now I can see it as wisdom delivered through an unnecessarily rough process. The restaurant's later revival by a Chicago hospitality group feels fitting because it still honors tradition and ceremony while allowing the old forms to evolve into something healthier, looser, and more current. I have not been back since that lunch, but a return now would feel like visiting the museum of my past, not reclaiming a life that asked too much, gave too little, and finally lost its hold on me. Even now, I remember Monkey Bar as a great Midtown lunch in a memorable room, surrounded by the residue of old ambitions and the gratitude of having survived them. The cocktails were sharp, the service was impeccable, and the dining room carried that glamorous old New York energy without feeling trapped by it. I remain deeply fond of the place, partly for what it was and partly for what it witnessed. Some restaurants become attached to a chapter of your life, and Monkey Bar holds mine with unusual grace.

The flavor was flawless, and while the portion was small (which was acceptable), the pool of broth accompanying it was completely unnecessary; it was inedibly salty, so what was the point of serving it? After finishing the fish, I was left with a plate full of broth, rendering the plate unusable. Plus, it was overpriced; for this dish, you're better off going to Strip House Strip House remains the undisputed king of this dish in New York. A friend ordered the chicken parmesan. It was just average. Another friend ordered the short rib stroganoff. The flavor was decent, but it was far too rich and heavy. As someone whose palate is split 50/50 between Western and Chinese cuisine, I could manage only five bites at most. If you have a palate that prefers 100% Chinese food, proceed with caution on this dish. Friends ordered sides of mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. These are dishes originally meant for low-income Americans to fill up on cheaply; there's no limit to how good they can be, but also no floor to how bad they can get. Both were on par with the average quality found in upscale restaurants. Honestly, these are two dishes I would never order myself. To sum up: the atmosphere was great. It's also hard to get a reservation; the place was packed when we had lunch at 2 PM. Aside from that monkey bread, I didn't feel like anything else justified the price or offered something you couldn't find elsewhere. I don't quite get the hype. Perhaps I just didn't order the right dishes; maybe next time I'll try the burger and the steak.

At long last a cool spot close midtown! A spot where you can get some extraordinary sustenance and mixed drinks in a chic situation with the attractive individuals of this city. Such an amazing experience at Yara (spoken from a real Yara ). One of the owners, Linda, was so hospitable and made us feel so welcome there. The atmosphere was warm and beautiful. And food was incredible! My fiancé is Lebanese and he said this is the best he's had in the states :) can't wait to come back and try more dishes when we're in town next. Yara is a must in Manhattan! Perfect location, beautiful ambiance, and food that's absolutely out of this world. The food was well cooked! and seasoned, but a little pricey! The portions are a little smaller than standard American! so listen to the servers! recommendations. The staff, and the ambiance are very pleasant, and accommodating. Overall! a good Mediterranean option in the neighborhood! read more

Atrocious service didn't have pita bread gave us stale food bathroom out of order the server took the food from the table which we were supposed to eat never ever going there waste of money read more
