This review is based on the one and only thing I have ever ordered at this place, and that is the Southern Fried Chicken breast. Four times have I been to the Yard House and four times I have never even been tempted to order anything other than this divine piece of gently fried southern goodness nestled on top of a heavenly cloud of the best mashed potatoes that I have ever had in my entire life. Actually, there was a fifth time that I went to the Yard House, stopping by late for a friend's bday dinner and although it was way too late to get a meal with everyone else, and I had already eaten beforehand anyway, I still ordered a bowl of the mashed potatoes on its own. I don't know whose idea it was to mix buttered corn into a bed of already mindblowing mashed potatoes and creamy chicken gravy, and then top it off with sauteed spinach, but I owe a debt of gratitude to this mastermind. I don't care what dish you order at the Yard House, ask them if you can also get a side of mashed potatoes. You will not regret this. My boyfriend took me here for, I believe, our second date and I ordered this (obviously). After I had gotten about 3/4 of my way through it I went to the restroom and I came back only to find that he had allowed the waiter to take my plate because he thought I was finished. Part of me wanted to weep, another part of me wanted to chase down the waiter in case it wasn't too late, but the biggest part of me wondered if I could really see a future with this guy, after all. I decided to stick it out, though. I knew that in time he would learn that parting me from my food is a grave offense. And believe me, he has learned it. read more

My family and I came in last night and had a bad experience with a couple of dishes. FIRST: The French Onion Soup...This is NOT a French Onion Soup! This is a salty beef stock with a couple onions in it below a sponge of flavorless bread below melted cheese. I LOVE FRENCH ONION SOUP! And I love how different places make it their own. However, I had to send it back and get another soup because it was terrible. I got the angel hair pasta and the clam chowder, both were pretty good. We also had the Vodka Shrimp Pasta and the Cilanto Lime Grilled Shrimp which were both very good! My father unfortunately ordered the pastrami sandwich which came out overcooked, dry, and ice cold. He was very unhappy and sent it back. As we all ate and he waited for his next dish to come out I could see that he was getting less and less patient with the wait staff (who had already had a couple of mishaps with dropping plates on our table, spilling water on my lap, taken their sweet time with our beers) and when his replacement Teriyaki Burger arrived, it too was on the cool side. I have had good experiences at the Yardhouse in Newport but I would recommend sticking with that location versus the Spectrum. They did comp this burger but he didn't even eat half of it because he was already having a bad time. read more

My family and I met up here today for a late "Christmas lunch". I had never had Yard House before, so I was super excited to grab some food here! It was totally dead in there (we thought it would be packed since it was New Year's Eve). There were around 5 or 6 hostesses standing together in the front.... I guess they decided to be the "welcome crew" since I guess they had nothing better to do. Anyways, we were treated very nicely by them upon walking in! Cora was our waitress and immediately my family and I were shocked at how friendly she was. She even called me "sweetie" a couple times and told my grandpa he was "cute" for giving her his empty plate. When I finished my food she came up to me and told me "Good job!" for eating everything before she took my plate. I'm glad that we had a friendly server but at the same time, I was kind of put off by how happy she was. It was pretty intense, to be honest! I looked around and my family seemed to be uncomfortable as well. It would be fine for her to act this way around small children but it just seems strange to be saying that to a 19-year-old girl. We did have some good laughs about how she was treating us, though, so it pretty much became the joke of our lunch. She did mention to us that she was new a few times, so we finally concluded that she might have just been nervous. Either way, Cora did a pretty good job for being new at Yard House if you just decide to forget about some of the weird stuff she said. About the food, it was pretty good... I think I just got the wrong thing. I ordered the shrimp vodka pasta and it was kind of bland, to be honest. I wish there was more of a tomato taste to it instead of just cream. The lunch portion seemed super tiny when they gave it to me, but it turned out to be just fine. Both my aunt and my grandpa ordered some grilled chicken sandwich that they thought was really good, both opting for pepper jack cheese instead of the swiss that came on it. I could tell that my brother really liked his seared ahi sandwich he got since his plate was completely empty once he finished. Lastly, my grandma got the ranch salad, which we all agreed did not look very fresh whatsoever; she ate around 25% of it until she just gave up on eating. Our biggest disappointment was that all of the fries that we got along with our food were extremely cold, almost like they had been sitting out for a while. We commented on this to another server and she came back with a tiny plate filled with piping hot fries... I guess she thought we were supposed to share that? The Yard House is excellent. I always enjoy my experience. The prices are kind of expensive so happy hour definitely is the best time to come. I LOVE the new menu. GARDEIN!! :) I was so stoked to see that and the menu looks cool and artsy. The veggie "beef" sliders are very tasty but rich and a little gooey. I can only eat 1. Fries are awesome. The summer salad was very refreshing, but it is sweet-kind of a salad + dessert in one. The candied walnuts tasted phenomenal though. Yard House If you are looking for a place with great food and tons of games Yard House is the place to go. It is located in the Irvine spectrum a few stores down from Apple. The yard house is a pretty good place to go and have a nice sit down dinner but be prepared to be interrupted by cheering and screaming from the bar. When you decide to catch a game at Yard House make sure to show up early because it gets packed really fast when there's a good game on. When you first walk into yard house there is very little light and it appears to be a very fancy restaurant, but once you look around every one is watching sports and having a good time. Evan the menus, which are the size of a text book, look too fancy for a sports bar. Also they have so many choices of beer, over one hundred, that they have an App to keep track of the always changing selection. After taking plenty of time looking through the huge menu I decided on the New York Steak. The mouthwatering beast arrived medium rare sitting in a puddle of juice surrounded by an enormous mound of garlic fries. I dug into the extremely appetizing and juicy steak and was completely satisfied with the amazing spices and the melt in your mouth feel. After devouring the New York I moved on to the garlic fries. The Garlic Fries were a golden brown and had just the right amount of crispiness. The oil dripping fries were covered with tons of garlic and excess grease. Although they looked really greasy when combined with the seasoning they were perfect. Along with the garlic fries my steak came with a side of string beans. Although vegetables are not my favorite I decided to give them a try. The string beans were surprisingly good and smothered in butter, giving them a great flavor. Overall I would recommend Yard House to any one that wanted to enjoy some great food and have a good time with their friends. Went to the Yardhouse last night for dinner with a total of 5 families. I've been there in the past and had no complaints before. Last night was a different story. Because our party was quite large we had 2 servers. Neither one was great. The girl we had never brought us waters that we ordered twice in the beginning of our night and then halfway thru dinner we asked again and she brought out 4 waters. Really? 7 adults and 11 kids and u bring out 4 waters? Anyway, I had the tuna burger and salad and it was so salty you really couldn't eat it. I took a few little bites of the burger because I was so hungry but I stopped. Just drowning in salt. Did either waiter notice I had a full plate of food? Nope. When they tried to clear the plates I told him that I didn't eat the food and I didn't want a box to take it home. They did take it off the bill however and then they charged me for 4 kids meals and a mojito and a couple other things. They fixed my bill 4 times and still got it wrong. I ended up paying for my 4 kids meals even though I only had my 3 kids with me. So I paid for more meals than I ordered and I left hungry. The kicker was when our waitress finally came back and they cleared all the plates, she asked if I wanted something else. Come on people. We r ready to leave, have been there for over 2 hours and then u realize your customer didn't eat anything? Ridiculous. I will never go back. read more

March 29 approximately 9PM, we were seated at the bar area. I told the waitress that my son's girlfriend forgot her ID so she's not ordering any alcohol. At the end of meal, I gave my credit card for payment and went to the rest room. When I got back to our table this man was scolding my son's girlfriend as he clears our table with water glasses in his hands. He then annoyingly made unnecessary comments about my son's girlfriend. I questioned the man's behavior and he started arguing with me. He said that he's the manager. I then told him that he just ruined our night and instead of apologizing, he said we didn't have to pay our bills if we didn't want to. Then he stepped away. After 3 steps away from out table, he came back and slammed the bill on our table and said: "Because you offended me by mentioning my personal life, I will have to charge you. You have to pay your bill". He then called the mall security and claimed that we did not want to pay our bill. Notes: This man claimed that he's been watching our table all the time we were seated. And that he saw my son's girlfriend sip alcohol from the glass of water. I told him, if that was the case, he should have come forward earlier when he saw it happened and confronted our table. AND if he was aware that a minor's consuming an alcohol in his establishment (Yard House, Irvine Spectrum) then he's violated the law. I was so appalled by this man's behavior. I will not be back to the Yard House. Too noisy. Took forever to get the food we ordered. The server forgot to bring our appetizer, but was very nice and apologetic and comped it. The main reason I won't be back is the food and the price. The appetizer (chips and guac), although complimentary, wasn't good. Chips had no flavor and the guacamole was awful. I've never tasted guacamole with so little flavor and yet such odd flavors thrown on top (some type of cheese and greens) at the same time. Basically, the food is just ok and too pricey. Our sandwiches were $13 - $15 and all they came with were overly salty, cold fries. At that price point, I think that there should be options...fries, fruit, or a side salad. The soup and salad combo was $10 and it was only a cup of each (NOT a bowl or any refills offered) and then they charged an EXTRA $2 for the tortilla soup option. Next time I'm going to Corner Bakery for a more reasonable sandwich, salad or soup. I might even go to Cheesecake Factory if I want the Yard House price point with better tasting food. Extremely disappointed tonight after Yard House. I've been coming here since it first opened, and tonight was enough to convince me not to come back. As a foodie with severe allergies I was appalled that YardHouse was unwilling to use my gluten free noodles to make one of there pasta dishes. The manager stated that it would make people think they could bring in there own fish or coffee. There are enough restaurants that are more than willing to accommodate my allergy and not make me feel like a social pariah that I no longer need to give this location my business. read more

met up with some friends here for the first time tonight. i'd heard good things from others before, maybe my expectations were just too high. the beer selection was impressive. but that was really all. the drinks were overpriced. we skipped the food. it was way too noisy. my friend was inches from me and i could barely hear her, forget about anyone else at the table. the service was the worst part. the waitress was just downright incompetent. i get the need to ID people, and we were a young group. but having to ID us each time for every single drink, come one. no one was going from 21 down in between drinks. we ordered drinks and were carded once. and then every time again for each drink after! and we were at a booth, it was the same waitress all night. i'm surprised the moron hadn't memorized our birthdays and addresses she carded us so many times. and then she still managed to brink the wrong drinks, when she finally brought them nearly a half hour later. yep, that's right. almost a half hour for a round of drinks. i'd thought about ordering an appetizer, but i was worried it'd take an hour or so and wasn't worth the hassle. read more

I must preface, I never give 5 stars like many employers don't in job reviews. Anyhow, our server ... Ms Keylie (sp?) was amazing. Attentive and adorable. If there were more Keylies in the world it would be a better place to be in. As for the food, it was good and what you would expect from the yard house (I frequent the restaurant.) however, the BFs side dishes were cold, but because we had such amazing service, and Miss Keylie was so apologetic (even though it was not her fault), she kindly brought another round of warm side dishes to the bf. Plus, it is rarely if at all, the servers fault when given food cold, and the like. There are cooks you know. But again, our server made little mishaps like that almost unnoticeable. This is specifically for my waiter the last time I came in. I've gone to other Yard House locations, and always liked them. I live closer to the one in Costa Mesa, which I've frequented, but I work right next to this location. Last weekend I came here with a group celebrating a birthday. I had already eaten, but I wanted a beer. They have my favorite beers on tap here (sea dog, blue moon, delirium, newcastle, guinness etc) but I wanted to stray and try something different. I wasn't sure what I would like but the waiter came over while I was looking at the menu and asked if I had any questions about the beers. I told him what I liked and asked if they had delirium on tap still, and he said yes, 2 kinds. Forgetting the exact name of the one I liked, he got me a sample of lighter one. I was feeling a darker beer I told him. He made two recommendations...one I cannot find on the beer menu online, so hopefully I'll remember to look next time I'm in, and the other was the House Belgian Amber Tripel, which I really liked. It's great to have a waiter who (1) was nice enough to let me sample 3 beers (they usually only sample 2) and (2) was knowledgeable enough to recommend something that really hit the spot for my beer craving. It was bitter and dark, thick but not too thick, and a light fruit aftertaste. Seriously a damn good beer. Their food (from previous visits) is pretty good too. Love the burgers here. But, if you like creme brulee don't get it here, it has some huge layer of chocolate at the bottom that threw me off of the taste. Maybe I'm just a creme brulee snob. ok...so really. i just have to give the yardhouse 5 stars because they have paulaner hef. paulaner hef is really my fave. i just love it. plus.....they do happy hour from about 3pm to 6pm and also i believe after 10pm. can't beat happy hour here because the food is cheap and so is the beer. i'll admit the food here isn't top notch, but it hits the spot when you're in the mood for a drink. with that said....the crowd does get a bit "weird" on the weekends and later in the evening. but hey....i'm not one to hate on a crowd. oh...and it's good for groups b/c they've got ample space. i'd say one bummer though is that they only take reservations for groups over 10, which would really suck if you were a group of 9 wanting to eat/drink at a popular busy time. read more

I've always had a love/hate relationship with yardhouse as I feel each visit is a different experience. Instead of dwelling on the past, I shall just review my experience this past week. Having arrived at the peak dining hour, I was a bit surprised that a) I was able to find a spot at the bar in front of the tv given that it is march madness season + laker game, and b) my wait time for a group of 5 was only 5-10 minutes. Granted it was a tuesday evening, but still- shocking! As I sat at the bar, the bartender was quite to serve and provided a great recommendation to a friend who was unsure of a good beer to get that had a hint of fruit. He brought out a beer that had a hint of blueberry and it was great! I'm always pleased with the beer selection here. moments later, our buzzer rang so we were seated (as requested) near a tv just in time for the laker game. I ordered the sliders while the manfriend ordered a bowl of french onion soup and the ahi bowl. Since I had a taste of his order I will comment on it, but as for my other guests, I'll leave them out. My sliders were decent, though I wish they came with a bit of veggies (lettuce, tomato), but the fries came out wonderful. Manfriend LOVED his french onion soup and said it was the best he's ever had- not too salty but quite hearty. I thought it was decent but to say best ever is a stretch. The ahi bowl was just meh but I wasn't expecting much. For dessert, we ordered the mini creme brule. I loved the fact that they've made mini versions of desserts - way to grab customers who are full, but just want a bit of sweetness. The creme brule was unique as it came with a layer of bananas on top vs the usual sugar crust. The bottom had a layer of dark choco something that I can't put my finger on. I always wrote this place off as another chain, but was pretty impressed by its happy hour. They have a HUGE selection of craft beers (I think something like 200+ beers), and an equally broad selection of food choices- they have regular bar food items (burgers, nachos), but also some asian items (ahi poke bowl and california roll), as well as a Gardein menu (dishes with vegan meat substitute- and actually not that bad). Basically, there is something for everyone. The space is huge, but it gets pretty crowded- expect to wait 30 minutes or so on a Friday or Saturday night, maybe 10 minutes during happy hour on a regular night. read more

I'm giving yard house 3 stars because of their happy hour. I would only come here for happy hour as their food is not that great and I would never pay full price. I've been to this location twice. The first time was fine, I went on a Tuesday and the crowd wasn't bad at all. My second visit was on a Friday and omg what a difference. It got so crowded for dinner that people were standing around the bar. This is where my experience went downhill. The man next to me was sitting so close he kept elbowing me and would apologize every time he did it. Not a big deal but if you notice you're doing it, try to stop please. Second, when my friend and I arrived at around 5, it wasn't too crowded. We found two seats at the bar immediately. We had decided what to order and were trying to make eye contact with the bartender. We waited about 5-10 min for him to notice us and he took our order. Not a big deal either except for what happened when it got super busy. A couple was standing behind us and ordered a drink. The guy decided to hand the bartender his ID in between me and the person next to me where he almost hit my face with his arm. At this point I'm getting annoyed. My friend and I finished our drinks and food. We paid the tab but we were still talking. The bartender asked us at least 3 times if we needed anything else (not exaggerating, I counted). This annoyed me bc we couldn't get his attention when trying to order but he made it obvious that he wanted us to hurry up and leave. Don't get me wrong, the bartender was very nice, we just felt rushed when he did that. Then the guy standing behind us actually asked us if we were going to leave soon because he had been waiting and he wanted to sit down with his gf. Apparently he was watching us and knew we had paid our bill... What a creep. Excuuuuse me? You came at the busiest time of the evening and week. Wait your turn. And if you're with your gf, make dinner reservations instead of being lazy and making her wait, then asking people to leave. My friend said sure, we can leave, but seriously that was so rude. I have never in my life been asked to leave my seat or been rushed by a bartender like that. Not even at sharkeez, TGIF, saddle ranch, etc. NOWHERE EVER. I understand it's busy but if you don't want to wait you need to come earlier or make reservations. read more

I went to yard house last night. Never in my life having had such an enjoyable experience in all of my dining history. Our waiter "Jamie" is a rare gem. I ordered fish and chips. He took my order and said "look I don't want to change your mind, but lately our fish/chips plate been getting great reviews from our customers. I just don't want you to be disappointed with the quality of our food as we are tying to correct the issue" I said ok, my back up is the ahi salad but I would like an extra portion of ahi( as I was starvin Marvin). I received my salad and Jamie came over to check out our meals. He looked at my salad and said "I don't think you got your extra side oh ahi, let me get my manager so you don' t get over charged." I wish that we could give half stars because I would give the Yardhouse 3 and half stars, but the wide selection of beers pushes it over to the 4 star side. Every time I go, I'm seated near a large group of people who are celebrating somebody's birthday, promotion or the fact that it's the end of the work week and/or school semester and they make impossible to carry on a conversation. Yeah, I'm the big dummy who wants to carry on conversations with friends about movies and work or that mindless getting to you know chit chat with some girl in a sports bar. The food is pretty good, especially the sweet potato fries, but a tad over priced. Yet you come to the Yardhouse for beer and boy howdy, do they have an excellent selection of beers. I'm always driving home at the end of the night, so I never go nuts and get the 'yard' of beer, but one of these days, I'm going to drink a couple of yards then watch a couple of crummy movies to sober up. Also, the music on the loud speakers is quite terrible, but I'm a bit of a music snob and I most certainly believe that if they were to play some Ghostface or Mika Miko, they'd lose a whole bunch of customers. Lots of flat screens for sports and what not, but I think they need to upgrade their cable/dish plan to HD because a stretched picture is kind of lame. read more

this is one of my favorite places in the world! i love beer, and this is the only place ive ever been to where they have such a huge list of beers on tap! its the only place ive ever been able to get a lost coast amber, smithicks, a boont amber, and a black velvet all in one place. i love coming here to munch on fries and drink beer. it also has the best happy hour with half off appetizers and reduced drink prices. for $5 you can get items such as crab cakes or their poke tuna. while i love the beer and getting cheap appetizers, i dont think i would come here just for the food. read more

Yard House has the best happy hour around for food. 1/2 priced appetizers starting at 3! And served throughout the restaurant, which is great if you have kids. We tried the pizza (great pizza), the sliders (very good) and the chicken lettuce wraps (not at good as PF Changs, but very good. DON'T eat the crispy shell, you will pay later). Service was great. We've been 3-4 times and have been happy every time. The only reason for 4 stars is because we had to YELL across the table to be heard. The music is as loud as a nightclub at times. read more

I've been to this yard house countless times and I can honestly say my experience tonight was by far the worst and I will not be returning anytime soon. I went with a party of 10 for my friend's birthday. Our waitress, Dawn, rushed us for drink orders so we settled for waters. She took forever to come back [i don't really know why, the restaurant was nearly empty], so 7 out of the 10 ppl decided to order their drinks at the bar. When she returned she was visibly annoyed, and explained to me how they weren't allowed to order drinks at the bar if they were going to sit at the table, and that she needed the food orders ASAP since the kitchen was closing. She made clear that we were going to be two separate parties, and that they wouldn't be able order food. I apologized on behalf of my friends and the 3 of us put in our orders. After that, she disappeared for a majority of our meal. She wasn't even the one to deliver our food. When we received our check we saw that she included 18% gratuity despite the fact that the Guest number listed at the top was "3", AND they charged for some drinks that were already ordered and paid for at the bar. When we confronted her about the situation, she rudely interjected; stating: "um, well OBVIOUSLY there's more than 3 people". Um, OBVIOUSLY we're not THAT stupid. Wtf? We tried explaining that she told us we were 2 separate parties, and only 3 people ordered food so why would they be included on the tab. She completely cut off the birthday girl [she was most likely about to have a scream fest with us] and retrieved the manager. The manager defended Dawn at first, explaining why we weren't allowed to order drinks at the bar if we were going to sit at the table, but that's not what we were complaining about. Not once did she refill our waters, check up on us, or show any form of respect. The only time she stopped at our table after taking our food orders was to throw the check at the center of the table; with not even a mere "thanks for coming in" or anything. SO RUDE. Why should we tip her 18%? That's way too generous for her service. The manager eventually said he would take off the 18% gratuity, and we left her not a single dime as a tip. She had the nerve to talk crap about us to her co-workers in clear view, and even give my friends the death glare when they went to the bathroom. I HAVE NEVER dealt with such TERRIBLE and DISGUSTING customer service in my entire life. She needs a lesson or two about sparing her attitude. If she hadn't been such a bitch we wouldn't have even said anything and just tipped her the 18%. read more

Good, fast service. Although Yardhouse isn't cheap, it's got some decent food. Today, I had the Vodka Shrimp. Personally, I think the saturation of the vodka could have been a little stronger, but aside from that, it was a good meal. read more

I have been several times now to this Yard House and so far have not had any complaints. The food is good and like the beer there is plenty on the menu to choose from. The waiters are nice and friendly. The inside decoration is like any other larger brewery but it smells clean (frequently in other breweries you can "smell the beer" which means they do not regularly clean the tap area). The outside seating is somewhat of a let down, I wish the outside seating had a better view than looking at a street with a parking. I would advise them to line the street side of the outdoor seating with trees/bushes. The view is not great so its an easy trade off to make the seating more of a "private" setting. Add some nice outdoor lights to it and the outdoor seating would definitely be better. read more
