My plus one and I had a very disappointing experience. After being seated, we weren't greeted by anyone for at least 15 minutes. I could clearly see the restaurant was busy, so I didn't want to be a nuisance. To help make things easier, we ordered both our drinks and food at the same time as soon as our server finally came over. Unfortunately, things only got worse from there. A table that was seated about five minutes after us received their drinks before we did. We had a very simple order--two poke nachos and one fried calamari--so we didn't expect such a long wait. When our food finally arrived, my poke nachos were made incorrectly. I had specifically requested the sauce on the side, but it was served already on the nachos. Our server even acknowledged that our fried calamari was missing and said something about it, yet it never came to our table still. I also asked for a refill on my water, and that never happened either. I understand restaurants get busy, and I'm usually very patient and understanding. Mistakes happen. However, what was most disappointing was the lack of follow-through and attention throughout the entire meal. It's really impossible to fault much about Yard house though as their food is always surprisingly good on every occasion and location we've been to. We went in for happy hour before a movie and got a seat at the bar. We received very quick service and got drink menus immediately. We were offered some recommendations and even a sample of some to help settle our decision, I ended up choosing a Long Beach Tea, it had a variety of alcohol shots and some fresh cranberry juice. So much topping and every chip is covered, has a bit of a kick from the red sauce on top but it is not overwhelming. I got a chicken lettuce wrap and the peanut sauce is amazing! It's like a perfect balance of sweet and tangy, I could drink the sauce. The chicken was cut in small pieces and served in a giant won-ton bowl, I enjoyed how I could dip the won-ton into the sauce after I ate all the chicken. It was a little messy in making the actual wraps but nothing a napkin couldn't fix. We also got the Carnivore pizza and it was so meaty it was hard to hold the slice. But the variety of meat was nice, pepperoni, sausage, bacon all nice and crispy but nothing greasy. I enjoyed the crust with some pieces well done and more crispy but my husband didn't really enjoy that. To avoid the wait time we agreed to get the patio seating since its not that very cold, most tables are open and only one was occupied there but still ended up waiting for almost an hour because when they're about to seat us, they only set up the table for 11 adults and didnt counted the kids so that what made the wait longer, it took another 10-15 min wait and when we followed up they said they are waiting for a server. My husband and I decided to sit at the bar because the restaurant was very busy, the World Cup was on, and we hoped for faster service. We ordered two waters and an appetizer to start. Since I'm currently pregnant, I ordered a mocktail because it sounded refreshing, while my husband decided to stick with water because he was feeling dehydrated from the 108 degree heat. What stood out was our interaction with our server, Miguel. When I ordered the mocktail, he gave me a noticeably odd look and then asked for our IDs. I thought it was very strange considering I wasn't ordering alcohol, but I showed mine anyway. He barely glanced at my husband's ID but spent an unusually long time inspecting mine as if he suspected it wasn't legitimate. He made a weird facial expression and I'm nearly 40 years old, and even my husband commented on how intensely he was examining it. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that the guests seated on both sides of us later ordered alcoholic drinks and were not asked for IDs at all. We couldn't help but wonder why I was singled out, especially when I wasn't even ordering alcohol. It left a very negative impression and made me feel uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the experience. My husband's lobster garlic noodles had very little lobster, and the timing of the meal was odd. Our appetizer, salad, and entrées all arrived within just a few minutes of each other, we hardly had any space to put the appetizer the two salads and two entrées when there's people sitting next to us at the bar. It felt crammed. Overall, the service experience and disappointing food quality left us underwhelmed. We left feeling disappointed, and my husband was particularly unhappy with how I was treated. I wanted to leave a five-star review for someone who not only served us once, but twice in two days and willingly served us the second day lol -- Jenna. And we don't go out often, let alone twice to eat for dinner, but we have family in town, and we had the honor of having her serve us. Little did she know she was dealing with somebody who has bipolar disorder, and with loud places come loud noises, a lot of chaos, and not much stability. Going out is an obstacle for me, but she made it a breeze. She was wonderful and delightful from the beginning till the end of her serving us, but today in particular struck me to actually leave a compliment. I also called and asked to speak to a manager so I could leave a verbal compliment as well because this is such a big impact that she made during someone's day, and I didn't know that until something happened. I have bipolar disorder, and there are very hard days for me to get through when dealing with lots of people around me and she made it easy. She always made sure my glass was full. She always offered an alternative and made sure I was able to make adjustments to my meal. I wanted poke when they only had poke salad, or when my mom wanted to try 45 beers, she brought out the four best flights, or letting my grandpa know that, yeah, she's gonna get him the check and not my mom this time. She made sure my drink was full every time she came by, and everybody else at my table was taken care of too. We didn't have one returned dish. Yard House is so very lucky to have this person because such a stressful event was made smooth by her, and I appreciate her so much. I can't wait to come back and be serviced by her again.
