I came to Yard House after work on a weekday around 5PM and it wasn't bad. Once it rolled around 7 PM it got busy. I think also it depends on what day you go on. One thing I got from here was that there were tons of beers on tap. I would say one thing that comes to mind when you walk in is that it's pretty modern with the modern decor and everything. The U-shaped bar spans pretty much the whole interior on the first floor (yes there's 2 floors) and then upstairs there's more dining and more like a proper type of seating. Surprisingly though, this place fills up quick as it seems like it's a pretty popular spot. If you have a style of beer that you would want, this place will probably have it. I had porters when I was there and keeping to my love of dark beers that's where it went. I also ordered a couple of appetizers. They were pricey, but I guess when you're in DC nothing really surprises you on the price of food. I ordered the poke nachos and it wasn't disappointing at all. I think they had good flavors, and also it was a new concept that I never tried before. I do have to say that it was unique to be displayed in that fashion. Anyways, if you're looking for an interesting appetizer I would suggest that. Overall my visit was great. I think if it wasn't so busy I would be back. Came here for lunch as it was close to the convention center, and luckily it wasn't crowded. The space is large and can even fit big groups. The menu is also extensive, with mostly American-style food. I ordered the BBQ bacon cheeseburger (~$14), which was a large portion. The burger was pretty good but was a bit dry and didn't come with any of the usual toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, onions). The fries were crispy and hot and quite good. My husband and I came here for a late night bite. While here we were extremely put off by the cleanliness. Trash all over the floor around the bar and the floor was very slippery. And this was not due to the rain. It took several minutes before a wait staff member came to the our order, and even longer to get our drinks. This would be acceptable if it was busy, but at this time of night, there was no excuse. The food was sub par and our waiter was hardly visible for assistance. I even noticed another couple request an item at the bar, and then with a wait staff. Neither of which delivered said request. I will never recommend this establishment to anyone visiting the city. This was one of the most unpleasant experiences I've ever endured. I love the food and drink selections at Yard House. I got their new drink the rose refresher and I loved it! You have to try it. Not only is it a pretty sunset ombre, but it tastes so good! It had a subtle sweetness and perfect amount of carbonation. We ordered the truffle fries, which were good. I wish that I could of tasted the truffles more and I wish the fries were fresh, but it was still good. We also ordered the poke nachos which were really delicious. It had crispy nacho chips and on top there was raw fish chunks, avocados, jalapenos, green onions, and a delicious spicy mayo sauce. Came here during hh and pre-Capitals game. We didn't have a reservation but there wasn't any wait. If you came a bit later, I'm sure wait was longer as it gets closer to the games. Happy hour is awesome and a lot do selections. My personal favorite was the poke nachos and the boneless wings particularly the Korean flavor one. All the apps are half off during hh and drinks specials as well. I just ordered wine so nothing too crazy. Place ha a great selection of beer, literally you can go crazy ordering different beer. I like the diversity of the menu and the beer list. I would definitely come back here again for hh especially! Pre or post-game specials. In my estimation, Yard House ranks somewhere above a Ruby Tuesday's/TGI Friday's/Applebees, but below places like the nearby Gordon Biersch or District Chophouse - also located in the Gallery Place neighborhood. Yard House is part of the Darden Restaurant group, which includes other familiar dining outlets such as the Olive Garden, The Capital Grille, Seasons 52, and the Longhorn Steakhouse. My first encounter with Yard House was during a business trip to Denver, and afterwards, I remember thinking, "This place is fine. Good draft beer selection; the kitchen can prepare a decent burger and fries, and the ambiance is unoffensive and generic enough to apply to a diverse clientele". Not necessarily a ringing endorsement, but also not terrible enough to prevent me from visiting their location in Springfield (https://www.yelp.com/biz/yard-house-springfield) since I do like their Happy Hour. So I've made a few visits from Nov - Dec 2018 mainly to meet up with friends as well as for my work holiday luncheon. Based upon my cumulative experiences, 2.5 - 3 stars is an appropriate rating. For my department holiday luncheon, there were eight of us, so I appreciate that the hostess was able to seat us promptly once our party assembled. The interior has a very "corporate" feel of dark color schemes, lots of hard wood, and the cliched bar in the center of the downstairs dining room with multiple TVs tuned to various sporting events. Food was okay, but nothing was outstanding. We ordered "Family Style" meaning we shared a few plates to get a good sampling of the food. I thought the jambalaya was probably the best thing I ate. The shrimp were shockingly large and blackened perfectly with spice. The rice was a tad under cooked, but otherwise the textures and flavor of the jambalaya stew was good. Chicken Cobb salad was fine - ingredients were fresh, but I found the portion size of chicken a skimpy and didn't justify the $11 price tag. My biggest gripe with Yard House is the incredibly uneven service. During my holiday luncheon, the server was attentive, kept water glasses filled, and often checked on our dining experience. The two times I've been for HH since, we were lucky to see our server once an hour after placing our initial orders. When the food arrived, which was an assortment of wings, calamari, and fries, everything had a heavily greasy and salty flavor. But, bonus that the HH appetizers are half priced, so that's something. If what you're looking for is a corporate dining and not a Michelin star experience, Yard House definitely fits the bill. read more

We went here for a burger week and while the burgers did have stiff competition they were still pretty good, I got the lamb burger and my wife got the beyond burger. No complaints or facetiousness but the sweet potato fries were the most memorable, especially with the rum bbq sauce. They have a very extensive happy hour, (which if you miss you will have a second chance for late night starting at 10 on the weekdays) with a huge selection of craft beer and appetizers. If you take a closer look because the items are already a little bit overpriced to sort of balance out the happy hour it seems but definitely still a good deal and a nice vibe to this place. They have all kinds of TVs around and they should really change their policy on showing MMA and boxing matches because that would easily bring me and many people in more often but it's still a great place to watch a game. read more

The perfect location for good eats and drinks! If you're looking for a great location to look at the game, a happy hour, or a great hang-out spot...this is it! My office decided to do our annual Christmas luncheon at Yard House and after a little bumpy start trying to make reservations, I was finally able lock in a date and time. We were seated instantly and had ample amount of space for our party of 11. Granted, we had an extremely long wait for our entrees, which was a little odd, especially since the venue is two levels and I'm sure since it sits in the heart of Gallery Place it gets a lot of foot traffic, but we had such a wonderful time with our awesome company, we didn't complain that much. I noticed how fast this placed filled up. When we arrived it was pretty empty. After we started to eat, it was packed. Pretty popular! An enormous bar is centralized in the middle of the room and televisions are scattered throughout the entire restaurant. The menu is loaded with typical bar fare and a few other items you wouldn't ordinarily think about on a bar menu, plus the prices are reasonable. The food I had was delicious, even the appetizers. Although, a few of the members in my party complained that their food was rather cold by the time it was delivered to them, a wonderful time was had by all! Our server was nice and friendly, but was a little forgetful. She checked on us frequently, but often seemed to forget a lot of the items we requested. Perhaps because we had a large party. Not sure, but she was being worked that day, on account of our table and her other sections. I thoroughly enjoyed myself at Yard House. They have lots of outside eating space. Lots of TV's throughout especially at the bar area with numerous different options to watch. The occasion was my son's birthday and Yard House really helped make the day special with a complementary ice cream and cake dessert. I love my steak and it was beyond to my standard cooked medium. The food was ok, nothing spectacular; but, we were hungry so it did the job. I got the poke bowl, my dad had the pepperoni & mushroom pizza, and my mom ordered the ahi tuna salad. The fish was not super fresh, as if it was sitting out in salad-form all day. My dad's first pizza came with no mushrooms because the chef probably thought, just because the other girls ordered theirs with no mushrooms, he would not want any either (that's sort of what the waiter told us as his apology). Whenever they brought a bowl of mushrooms for him, there was probably 10 mushroom heads sitting in 1/2 cup of canola oil, it definitely did not taste like olive oil (trust me, I'm a studying culinary arts and food science). * The waiter was sweet, but the service was a bit slow. Honestly, our expectations for the food were low, but the beyond burger and Nashville chicken sandwich were great and reasonably priced. I had the Avalon Cab Sav to drink, which was easy to drink. Had a great time at Yard House on a Saturday night! I've been to YardHouse in several other states, and this one here has lived up to my expectations once again!! I came with a party of 9, our wait was very reasonable and they sat us upstairs. The ambiance was great, a lot of throwback songs were playing, so we were singing along most of the night! I ordered a scooby snack shot for myself and my guests and it was delicious! After that, the strawberry mojito was also very good, but my friend ordered the strawberry-mango mojito and I wish I had gotten that one! I definitely suggest asking to mix flavors. For my meal, I ordered the shiitake garlic noodles, which I had never tried before. They were amazing, I honestly felt that it was not missing anything despite being a simple pasta. If you're someone who gets full quickly, this appetizer is the way to go! My partner ordered the half yard and a Nashville hot chicken sandwich, which was fantastic as well. The fries were not too soggy and not too crispy, a perfect balance. Not sure how they did it, but my entire party had ZERO complaints about the food or the service! Great job Yard House! I've been to Yard House in a few cities and never had a bad experience...until this location. I ordered a BBQ bacon cheeseburger with no mayo, and a side salad. Simple, right? Not so fast, they managed to bring my burger with mayo and also managed to bring it with a side of fries rather than a salad. When I finally was able to flag someone down, they took my burger without the slightest bit of apology and about 10 minutes later (after the rest of our table was almost finished eating) I had a salad and a corrected burger. Mistakes happen and I get it but they didn't even seem to care they messed this up and they charged me full price for a less than satisfying experience. By the way, the corrected burger and salad were okay but nothing special. It struck me as a totally mediocre (and overpriced) restaurant burger that isn't bad but also isn't anything I'd go out of my way to order again. They're usually pretty good for a chain but this experience left a (pun intended) bad taste in my mouth. read more

I came here for drinks this past Friday during happy hour to kill some time before heading to VA. Coming from NY, it's always a change to see those super huge bars and restaurants that you pretty much never see here. It's a two floor establishment (with the 2nd floor pretty much closed until dinner) and a huge wraparound bar area. There were also a ton of TVs to catch whatever show I wanted to watch at any given time. The draft selection was pretty impressive too. A lot of local brews too. Hey just wanted to say if you're looking for somewhere to eat and don't care about the service go here. The food was actually pretty good. Unfortunately the service wasn't. I understood that we were a big group but the waiters were completely wrong. I asked the waiter if I could have the tomatoes and lettuce removed from my sandwich and the waiter said they would come on the side. guess what they didn't. I would be perfectly fine if they told me that I couldn't take anything off and that I would have to remove it when it came out, but the waiters lied to me. My friend ordered the vegan burger and when it came out it seemed like everyone had a different answer as to whether the cheese was vegan or not. We pushed the tablet button to call a waiter over and the tablet was flashing red and we waited over 20 min and they never bothered to look our way or come over.
