Came here Saturday night. Had no wait around 7:45pm and we got sat immediately but that line definitely built up through the night and they don't take reservations. The outside patio had a jug you get your water from and a fan you'd see on your family's patio. QR code on the wall to order your food directly. The music was a vibe, i heard alot of Leon Thomas The outside area may not be the best for sound or the party next to ours just talks too loudly to have a convo. They were actually louder than the music. Not sure if this was them or the patio elements. They were actually louder than the music at times lol. The cornbread is a must with or without butter. The jerk chicken was good, sauce a little spicy for my taste but delicious overall. I'm sure no one else would call it spicy though lol. Wedges super fire might be the best I've had, crunchy, bigger than you'd expect under the chicken. They forgot my friend's doubles but brought them out soon after. It's great to find something that is both different and terrific in Eugene. The old Vintage space is still cozy and inviting in its new iteration as Yardy. The ordering process is easy and convenient, the service is friendly and helpful and finally, the food! It's unique and oh so yummy. We loved that everything was meant to be shared so we got to try lots of different things. I went for the fried chicken and it did not disappoint, neither did anything else we ordered. Try the Pikliz, not as hot as people suggested, but spicy and delicious. The beans and rice were authentic, the "doubles" was so tasty. This is a really cool little spot. It may be wise to look up the menu ahead of time, as they operate with an "order at the door" method, or using QR after you're seated. We sat in the very cute patio, which has the look and feel of a garden shed in the best way. This evening we had drinks and Carib donuts, which were all good and enjoyable. We'll definitely be back for a full meal experience and will likely choose the patio seating again, as the inside seating is limited and can feel a bit close. What are great experience! I've been hearing good things about Yardy's for a while now and we finally made it in. So glad we did! Everyone was soooo nice! The place was very welcoming as well. There were a lot of tables for groups and the place was packed when we went. Drinks were solid. I had a Cuba Libre that took me back to the islands. Julie had a Mamajuana Old Fashion that she enjoyed as well. The big surprise for me was the number of gluten-free options on the menu. It was easy to find lots of great options! We had the Jerk Chicken Plate and the Fried Chicken as well as any third dish that was served on a plantain that I can't remember the name. All amazing with fantastic spicing. Dessert was a seasonal sorbet that was popping with berry flavors. Overall a huge win. We'll certainly be back! read more

Loved the food - so flavorful and delicious. Interesting cocktails. We started with a plate of pickled vegetable, potato salad and smoked beets. Everything so tasty. For mains had the pork over beans and rice and a fried chicken sandwich. Both fantastic. I want to go back and try everything on the menu. Had to subtract a star for annoying restaurant set up- you start by ordering at the counter, which is a very slow process then you seat yourself. It took us maybe 15 to 20 minutes to get through the line even though the restaurant was empty with lots of open tables. Some people cheated and grabbed tables before they had ordered which I found frustrating. The water is self-serve. There is no waiter if you want to get more food you order with a QR code. To me it would make more sense to get rid of the ordering at the counter, just have a person seat you and then do 100% QR code ordering. read more

I do think this restaurant is somewhat overhyped. There was a line out the door at opening, and they don't announce to the line that you're able to sit down and order from a table, so we waited about 10 minutes just to turn around and find a spot to sit or be rushed to order at the counter. There are no servers and water is self serve. The food itself is alright, but I wouldn't say it's worth the price for the lack of service. I ordered the chicken and waffles and paid $4 extra for what was definitely a crappy freezer waffle. I wouldn't waste my money on that if I go again. Updating my review as Yardy has since transformed into a full restaurant and bar! Yardy makes market-driven West Indian fare, meaning as a vegan you're going to enjoy the freshest local produce available. It also means the menu will slightly change seasonally, which is exciting. What started as a food truck has expanded into a full restaurant complete with a rum cocktail menu, indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter when you arrive, then seat yourself. Your food is brought to your table as it's ready, and most of the offerings are designed to be shared. As someone who enjoyed the doubles from their original food truck, that's what I had been craving most. However, I was thoroughly ready to try what else they had come up with! For small plates we ordered the jerk smoked beets which had so much flavor, and the doubles which comes with a chickpea curry over two pieces of fried flatbread topped with several tasty chutneys. For the main course we ordered the market curry plate which featured a variety of vegetables cooked to perfection on a bed of curry and aloo with a scoop of rice. Keep in mind there's some heat but not too much handle. Lastly, we tried a variety of cocktails. It does have rum bar in the name! I don't think you could go wrong but I loved the Fresa Coconut Cooler. Yardy is making something entirely different than what can be found anywhere else in town, and I love it. We just had dinner here tonight. It is Caribbean cuisine, so the spice combo is yummy! I had the Bajan Chicken sandwich, my wife had the Jerk Chicken. On the side we had the Puerto Rican rice and beans. The food was fantastic, not overly seasoned, but all had a bit of a spicy bite. The chicken sandwich is substantial in size. We also ordered the beet salad which was quite tasty! The setting is an old house built somewhere in the very early 1900's, and is very small, making the atmosphere very quaint. There is limited outdoor seating. Their hours are daily from 5-9PM. There was about a 30 min wait , and once you enter, you place your and pay for your order, then they tell you where to sit. All the wait staff were very friendly. I would definitely eat here again! read more

A stand out was the smoked jerk beet salad - AMAZING! I didn't love the red beans and rice, but being Cajun, I do have some preconceptions about what red beans and rice is meant to be. This place is real deal! We loved our meal at Yardy's!!! The process for ordering food is a little different than expected, but it works. You order at the counter to your right when you first walk in, then grab a seat in the dining room upstairs, downstairs, or outside and they bring the food to you. We tried the Jerk Chicken, Fried Chicken, and NW Snapper (aka Rockfish). Everything was phenomenal!!! The Jerk Chicken was super juicy/moist and delivered robust jerk flavors accompanied with a little bit of heat. The fried chicken was hot, crispy, moist, and delicious. Our friend ate the Rockfish so fast that I forgot to get tasting notes LOL! Each dish comes out as ready. All of the food came out super quick and piping hot! Atmosphere and vibes were super chill and casual. The background music played at the perfect volume level and totally fit the vibes. Staff was very nice. Owner was also super cool. I honestly don't know where to begin. This place truly is a diamond in the ruff. You'd never expect to come across carribean food in Eugene Orgen of all places, but amazing carribean food!? C'mon man. This food really did blow me away. The friend chicken was packed full of flavor. Juicy and moist on the inside, and perfectly crispy on the outside. That corn bread and butter was a trip to heaven with every bite. The red beans and rice tasted no different than how my Dominican friend's mom makes it. Coming across places like this is why I love being a foodie. The good here really is made with love. The service here was great. We were immediately greeted and had our order taken. You place your order, them sit down, then your food is brought to you. The people are really nice. We got to talk to the owners, and they are really great people. The ingredients are sustainability sourced, and a lot of thought and attention go into their product. The vibe here really is that of a carribean house/restaurant. I AM a carribean, and I felt like I was back home as a child, eating my mom's home cooked food. It's a feeling I can't describe. There is seating on the main floor as well as upstairs here. Make sure you get a seat before they all go because there was a little line forming as I left. The only critique I have would just be the portion of rice with the red beans and rice. It was approximately 6:37pm on a Sunday evening in May, seated in the corner of Yardy Rum Bar's outside patio, when my soul briefly left my body. It wasn't just one thing, but a convergence of factors, included but not limited to the following: the evening sunlight reflecting off the roof beams, the vibratons of well-curated 90s hip-hop and r&b (at just the right volume), the sweet heat of Nico's coconut-infused rum & ginger liquid concoction, the golden crispy-yet-fluffy magical bread dipped into the tart broth of the buljol (salt-cod) salad, the speckled stoneware that held these gorgeous, delicious items. It was all just too much sensory pleasure... I began to ascend. And then the jerk chicken arrived, looking like an exquisite piece of art. And I took a bite of the tender juicy meat with the jerk spice-infused skin and closed my eyes, and felt nothing but gratitude to all the wonderful folks involved with creating the experience. Yesterday, we went back with two others and ordered jerk chicken and duck confetti. The jerk chicken wasn't cook all the way (bloody) and the flavor wasn't with every bite and the duck was too salty. It had been over a year since our last visit and Yardy has only gotten better!! Everything was so delicious, we could not help but continue to rave to each other about the dishes we ordered. We each ordered beverages to help to cut the spice and were very happy with our choices. The jerk chicken and curry were perfectly spicy. The pickles also helped to cut the spice and were so yummy. The red beans and rice are another favorite. I wish the sold them in much larger quantities to go. I can't put the flavor into words and am always surprised that the flavor profile is so robust without the use of any meat products. The curried fried potatoes are so yummy served hot with ketchup. These came out first and we were so happy about it. Be prepared if you are spice sensitive as these dishes are not for those that like it mild. We dined upstairs this evening and enjoyed ordering by QR code so we could order at our pace and add additional items as needed. Delightful dinner with friends: plates come out as they are ready so a bit random. We shared the fried chicken which had 3 good sized pieces of nice crisp succulent moist chicken. The jerk chicken was flavorful but at one piece it was definitely messier to share. The smoked jerky beet salad with hazelnuts was fantastic and I could eat the whole darn portion myself, but I was nice enough to split it among my friends. The pork in plantain "sandwich" was much bigger than anticipated and easy to share. That pork was super tender with excellent flavor. I am not a big fan of plantains and these were as expected, not my thing. But my friends enjoyed them while I sat blissfully eating more of the pork. We had some donuts for dessert with whipped cream and orange marmelade... call me a donut snob but this was probably just about a 5/10 rating for me, too dense of a dough IMO. I like oliebollen or beignets better than these donuts. The drinks were marvelous and I am not a fan of rum, or so I thought, until I tasted their concoction of a daiquiri. My friends had rum-grapefruit cocktail (can't remember the name now) and also enjoyed it. The setting is in an old 2 story house, and the scant tables are very close together. You order either at the table with a QR code on your phone, or you can ask for a paper menu and then order with the QR code on your phone or go to the downstairs hostess-stand and order there. That was different for sure but it worked for us. Enjoyable experience for sure. I was glad it was a weekday dinner so I could easily hear my tablemates. Yardy Rum Bar is one of the most unique and exciting spots I've visited in Eugene. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. I ordered the Smokey Adobo Pork Shoulder--tender, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Every bite was warm, nostalgic, and rich with layered spices. The atmosphere is equally vibrant: colorful, fun, and full of energy. The space has personality--from the lively decor to the thoughtfully crafted cocktails. However, I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to the service model. You're asked to tip at the register before you've received any food or service, which felt a bit awkward--especially at a price point where full-service expectations naturally creep in. I also wish the flow of ordering and seating were clearer. It's a bit of a hybrid system--order at the counter or via QR code, seat yourself, then food comes out when ready--and while it works, it can feel a little disjointed when it's busy. That said, Yardy is doing something special. The food is soulful, the flavors are bold, and there's real heart behind every dish. The front of the house service was some of the worst I've experienced in ages! We all know you got a JB nod, but that doesn't mean you can have bad service. We were fine with the 45-minute wait, but when we called to check on our table and were told abruptly that the hostess had tried calling us twice 30 minutes earlier, we were baffled. And when we went to hostess stand and asked what number she had called, we learned she had been calling a wrong number -- she was off by one digit due to her misreading of her own writing. We were treated like that was our fault and told we'd have to get back in the queue or sit on the back patio. We pointed out we'd be fine sitting in the empty covered patio and so she very curtly handed us menus and told us fine. I asked if she could be so kind as to actually show us to said patio and she walked us have way there and pointed to the door. Our table service was better, though no one told us where to find the QR codes to order (they aren't on the menu ... they are on the walls), you can't make any changes to the items (so I was unable to say I couldn't eat the aioli on the sandwich and therefore couldn't try it when it came), and an order of fried chicken was forgotten (but finally showed up after we asked). The food was meh. The kiwi and beet salad was my favorite and very delicious. The pork steak was too fatty for my preference. The fried chicken only comes in small drumsticks and wings. The tostones as buns were yummy, but I didn't eat much because of the aioli slathered on it. The bar menu only has rum as it's spirit (I get the Caribbean niche but c'mon!). Two of us were terribly underwhelmed. Two of us thought the dishes were flavorful. All four of us were completely turned off by the surly service we received at the check-in stand. read more
