The go to place for Iranian treats in the Moco Area!!! They have delicious homemade rolets (swirl cake) with fresh whipped cream, raisin cookies, baklava, jalebi, cream puffs, and drumroll...Iranian saffron ice cream! They sell nuts and candy as well. The owner, Ms.Nazi is a sweet woman who will offer you tea and make you feel like you are a guest in her home! Can't wait to come back for more!

There was a large assortment of sweets, and the interior was spacious and clean. There were also some retail items where customers can buy tea sets for themselves.

We happened to be in the area when my father randomly reached into his bag and pulled out a Farsi newspaper with an ad for this place. Google mapped it and found out it was five minutes away so we stopped by to stock up. They have all the Persian goodies you'd want from a bakery, as well as some extra things to make like fesenjan, tea, etc. They also had a refrigerator with saffron ice cream and some other cold desserts. Drinks are also in a cooler, ranging from your regular American fare to chilled doogh. We bought a pound of sweets, specifically the cream rolls with chocolate and fruit on top, quite a bit of boxes of nuts, and Persian cookies. The woman offered us some samples to try, I grabbed a piece of the zulbia (aka jalebi) and thought it was a bit sweet. Our total came to $75, a big box/pound of the pastries was $15 alone.

The assortment of Persian sweets & cookies (after we had helped ourselves).

A client brought in a box of assorted goodies, some familiar and others new to me. Such a delicious treat. I truly enjoyed the variety of cookies and the fact that there were very sweet options and more subtle options. The raisin cookies and Lebanese baklava were delicious. The jalebis were very sweet but I'm glad I tried at least one, same with what looked like little funnel cakes - unfortunately I do not recall the name. Update 8/8/18: The same client brought us treats from here yet again. I think I might be going to Rockville strictly for their cream puffs and the thin cookies Update: 4/25/19: I truly get excited just seeing the box color

1/2023. Stale old cake. Can't believe the bakery would offer this!

Years ago this Bakery was fantastic. I have no idea what happened to it or if it changed hands but the cakes aren't fresh anymore and they look absolutely terrible! I would not recommend it.

Baklava

I have had a desperate craving for baklava lately and was looking for someplace local to try. This little shop is hidden away right off of Rockville pike in a small shopping center. When I walked in there were some Persian grandmas chatting in the corner so you know it was gonna be the real deal. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and pleasant and quickly helped me get a pound of 3 different types of baklava that I so craved! This place is quaint and lovely and I'm happy I chose here for my sweets hankerings!

The cake I asked for. The detailed pipping. Like Mandela or henna almost. This is NOT the cake they gave me!

I will attach a picture of the wedding cake I had asked. I had asked if they were able to do this cake exactly like the picture. I only asked for less flowers in the top tier. I was told they would be able to do it. On my wedding day this is what I was shown. I was heart broken. We paid $450 for a cake that looked like a kid piped icing on it. It was embarrassing to have to accept that cake for my wedding day. I had no choice but to take it since the wedding was a few hours away. I will never forgive this place for ruining my cake for one of the most special days of my life. If they knew they were unable to complete the cake They should have been honest! I could have gone elsewhere to make sure I got the cake i always wanted for my wedding day. I'm glad my family and friends made me feel a lot better about the cake. But please do not trust this business with any cake. Do not give them the chance to ruin a celebration of yours. I even sent the reference picture the day before when the owner asked for me. And then she claimed I sent it too late I SENT IT 4 MINUTES after she called asking for it and I had the proof of the time as well. She had the nerves to say it looks the same and then asked what I wanted her to do about it. I told her there's clearly nothing you can do not, the cake is ruined. No empathy what so ever for her own mistake and her own recklessness.

Almond cookies

We randomly walked into the bakery to see what Yasaman had to offer and were pleasantly surprised! The bakery is filled with all sorts of traditional and cultural (Middle-Eastern) pastries, tarts, cakes, cookies, and even nuts. The cashier seemed standoff-ish at first. She said I could not sample an almond (I think it was spicy lemon?), but I thought she misunderstood me so I asked again and was told no. Maybe she still misunderstood, but I did not ask a third time. I looked at the sweets and she asked if I wanted to try a sample. I did take one of the rounded sweets that tasted like rose-water, but did not like it since it was drenched in syrup and way too sweet. I wanted to try what looked like a regular chocolate chip cookie, but the sample tray was taken off of the counter, so I felt awkward asking for it. I decided to buy five of the heart-shaped almond cookies. They even had some sort of jelly or paste in-between the cookies (so basically they were sandwich cookies) and were elegant and tasty. The cashier did honor my 10% off from the Yelp Check-in without any issues so it made up for the stinginess on the samples.

My Mom had their green beans as a side and I had a few - they were crispy and very good. Too many places over cook things. Waitress behind the bar was great. Nice 'neighborhoody' casual atmosphere. Any Marylander of the Boomer and GenX generation knows about O'Donnell's RUM BUNS. I used to come here with family back in its heyday and these were served table side before our meal. How crazy is that, a nice lil somewhat sinful dessert BEFORE some MD crab?! Those were the days! The rum buns are more nostalgia more than anything, I wouldn't say they'll blow your socks off, but hey, nostalgia is nostalgia. Well, I'll need to dine in here for a full and complete verdict, but my quick grab and go visit was a tad chaotic. Service for taking orders could improve - you walk in, there's a seafood counter to your left, bakery counter to your right (both were unmanned when I walked in) and in the middle is a deli section with the cash register where I assume they take orders. We stood there for a few good minutes before getting anyone's attention despite the fact a manager asking staff (not customers) if everyone was being helped. Clearly staff did not know who was waiting to check out, take orders or just waiting for their orders to arrive. So it was just weird. No one greeting you as you walk in either, it just also weird because there's no clear line anywhere you stand. Otherwise, rum buns were as I remembered them. Also picked up crab dip and chicken salad from the grab and go section from the back and they were just ok, not bad, not great. So will come again for a future visit hoping to have a much better meal and experience!

I introduced her to "Baci" Chocolate a candy from Italy, varieties of milk & dark chocolate stuffed w/hazelnuts also on sale. I enjoy them during the holidays. And purchased the milk chocolate version & a salty treat. Well she noticed the dark chocolate display was empty. She asked a store associate if more "Baci" dark chocolate was available? A young man checked inventory & found none. Then he checked some other display & found (2) bags-"Baci" dark chocolate candy. My friend was thrilled & appreciated his diligence. This is a Wonderful example of outstanding customer service. See Photo!

No one should be verbally harassed, mocked, or intimidated over wine. Shut it down. I've been a loyal customer at Rodman's Wine, Beer & Gourmet for quite some time. However, my recent experience was deeply upsetting and completely unacceptable. I walked in after a facial treatment (still healing, visibly wearing recovery cream), and was met with inappropriate behavior by a male employee who aggressively questioned my age while examining my ID--despite it clearly stating my birth year. Instead of conducting himself professionally, he loudly announced my birth year in front of other customers, challenged me on my age, and insisted I declare it aloud. This was not only invasive but also deeply humiliating. When I asked why that was necessary, he escalated the situation by telling me to "lower my voice" or I wouldn't be allowed back in the store. That is not customer service--that's verbal intimidation and public shaming. To the woman at the register who knows me and treated me with grace--thank you. To management: You should be ashamed to have someone representing your business like that. After the disturbing behavior, three men came outside the storefront looking around casing the parking lot--an apparent attempt to intimidate. Thankfully, my husband was made aware immediately and we will be filing a report. Women should not be made to feel unsafe for simply buying a bottle of wine. To anyone who's ever been mistreated or disrespected by the staff at this location: File a formal complaint with the Montgomery County Alcohol Board. Since being acquired by Safeway/Albertsons, the "specialty", in a specialty store, has pretty much vanished. I still do believe that their bistro meals, ordered with care, can be a budget, friendly, yes, I do mean budget, friendly, alternative to fast food (herb, roasted turkey dinner with fingerling potatoes and green beans are $16 and can last for two meals) Their carrot cake, has always been exceptional and remains so The disappointing part is how Balducci's now stocks basically Safeway products and up charges considerably for them. I always found their fish to be fresh and flavorful, but now I have seen a decline in the quality of their fish. I guess things change. However, I don't feel the change at Balducci's has been for the better
