We were able to land reservations right before sunset since we put notifications on and responded right away. We were seated right at the edge, which gave me an unobstructed view of the ocean! Coupled with the view was live music streaming throughout. What was ordered: Redsnack Mocktail - Liked the sweet and salty meld of flavors Fresh Oysters - Smooth, meaty, & fresh! Street Corn - Corn ribs with great seasoning Mashed Potato - Creamy and garlic forward Grilled Seasnapper - Amazing! Totally recommend that you split this! Stingray Empanadas - Comes in a box which was a fun way to present this dish! Customer service was on point and they even offered me a blanket because it was starting to get chilly at night! They even offered to take our picture in the waiting area and are always checking on us to see if we needed anything. Absolutely loved this experience!

The gorgeous view, the wonderful staff, and the amazing food made each of our meals a magical experience. When my daughter-in-law informed our server that she is allergic to shellfish, he gave her options to some of the menu items (the shrimp was served separately in our order of shrimp Mac & cheese) and assured her that her food was safe. We ordered: Pan Seared Totoaba (fish) - my husband said it was the best fish he's ever had! Catch of the Day - Sea Bass - it was incredible! Red Snapper - my son said it was the best fish he's ever had! Prime Beef Filet - my daughter-in-law said it was the best filet she's ever had. The slices of vermouth-soaked pears were delicious! We shared the Grilled oysters, Mac & Shrimp, Street Corn, and Mashed Potatoes. The only imperfection was the 40+ minute wait for our desserts to arrive. Just as we were thinking about canceling our dessert orders, a manager came to apologize for the delay and comped the cost of our desserts, which were actually so good that we decided it was worth the wait! We had the buffet breakfast at this same restaurant and it was also a 5 star experience!!

The only sit-down restaurant at the Hyatt Vacation Club at Sirena del Mar, Estrella serves all…read morethree meals of the day, each with a slightly different menu. Prices are comparable to other hotel restaurants, and the service and food quality was OK. We had spent the afternoon at the nearby beach until sunset, so ended up eating dinner a bit later than we got used to during our trip. Estrella has a large dining space, both inside and out. It was a bit humid to enjoy the outside, so chose to sit inside. There weren't many customers, so got identified quickly and seated. It was night, so the only views were of the lighted courtyard. Service was prompt throughout. The mango frozen margarita (MX$360) looked interesting so got one of those, along with a 1 L bottle of Fiji water (MX$170). I know I need to get used to paying for water for dine-in in Mexico, but only having Fiji available in the restaurant seems manipulative. The margarita was excellent. Our server recommended to us to get the special of the night: a three course meal with main entree of a trio of chicken, shrimp, and bacon-wrapped filet medallion (MX$741). I wanted to try seafood, so got the Tuna tower (MX$380). The first course (a really good spinach salad) and the tuna tower came out first. The tower was tasty...the chef had done a really good job of chopping all the ingredients into equal diced pieces; the fresh and delicious avocado put it over the top. The tuna quality was what it is...not great but didn't really mind. The main entree came a bit later, and my wife enjoyed it (we were both really hungry)... I got to sample some pieces. The shrimp was the best part, small size but perfectly grilled with just the right amount of salt to bring out the great shrimp flavor. The chicken was overcooked, resulting it being dry and a bit chewy. The beef was not great: it wasn't filet mignon, but another part of the loin. The bacon was an afterthought and didn't really impart any flavor, with the wooden toothpicks (to hold the bacon in place) still imbedded in the steak, which is just a mistake...a really good steak knife will cut right through it, and then you are eating wooden toothpick pieces imbedded in random steak bites. But the portions were good to be a filling meal, with a good mashed potato as base. We also got a thick chocolate mousse for dessert, which we enjoyed. Guests of the resort get a 'discount' card...ours was 10% off of food (not including alcohol) at resort restaurants. When I let our waiter know before our dessert came, our waiter strongly told me that 'specials' are not part of that, like I should have known that already. When the bill came, he pointedly showed me that he had correctly applied the discount to only tuna tower and water. He was right, but his attitude was wrong. We charged it to our room, gave a minimal tip, and left.

Estrella is a solid on site restaurant that we enjoyed many times during your stay!

We REALLY wanted to like Villa Serena... given the outstanding reviews, mixed in with many mediocre…read morereviews, and some just plain bad reviews. We went with an open mind, hoping for the best! Decent ambiance, with the swimming pool in the middle of the restaurant, from its prior life as the diner for a trailer park community... Karen was our server, she did a decent job, but after waiting an hour for our entrees, she approached the table saying there was some miscomm... not sure if it was the iPad ordering device, or she just blew it, after 20 minutes she should have inquired of the kitchen. We were only one of 5-7 tables in the entire restaurant, so it wasn't like it was packed or she was busy. I get the whole "slow paced" meal concept, but this was neglect, not slow paced. Just want to offer an observation about the cats... there are lots of them there. We not "cat people" but cats are OK... but when they are pawing at your legs and arms while you're trying to eat, that's a bit much. Cats = turn off x10. We started the meal with a margarita and the chips, salsa, pico de gallo and guacamole... all were very good! The chips were small, perfect for dipping into the condiments. We also ordered a bottled water, which set us back almost $3 USD... it was CostCo bottled water... what a mark up! Very disappointed in what was supposed to be one of the "gems of Cabo." Looking back, we should have stopped the meal here, it may have been 4 stars! For entrees we ordered the seafood combination and the "Sunday special" paella... the seafood combo was overly fishy, old seafood the most likely culprit. Too much garlic, which did not put a dent in the fishy taste. The paella was an interesting combination of everything in the kitchen, some seafood, chicken, short ribs (we think) and other ingredients we could not identify. The shrimp in the paella was dry and powdery, not sure how you cook shrimp to get that consistency, but it was not good. Overall, the flavor of both dishes was very disappointing! The finale was a slice of key lime pie, and "birthday treat" for which we were charged $7 USD... it wasn't so much the charge that was bothersome, it just didn't taste good. A very sub-par ending to a sub-par meal. For all the hype, we won't be going back. The prices are reasonable, but the quality is simply lacking. Cannot recommend Villa Serena!

Once you get to the front door you are greeted by the hostess where you walk through a short hallway to the main bar area that is surrounded by shelves filled with pottery. The interiors are stunning!! We were seated in their outdoor patio area, which is absolutely beautiful. This area has a cozy fire pit area for lounging and hanging out with friends and is surrounded by small tables for romantic dinners or larger tables for groups. Either way it is romantic and the backdrop is a spectacular fountain with 3 whale tails as sculptures! The music is clubby and fun! Tonight our sever was Thomas and he was so good! He greeted us shortly after we sat down and got our drink orders. . He also told us at this point all the specials for the night. He gave us time to think over our choices and came back with the cocktails to get our orders. Then he coursed out everything perfectly. We started with tonights special of Toro and added Hamachi off the menu. Those were spectacular not only in presentation but taste! and the fish extremely fresh! Three of the four of us had a shrimp and crab enchiladas, all the other had the grilled chicken. All the portions were perfect and very flavorful! Overall, everything about this restaurant was spectacular including the two cats that wander through the restaurant. They only come over if you invite them, and they are adorable. I'm not sure if they're there all the time but they were there tonight.
