My husband and I decided on a spontaneous Friday night date after a long week. We wanted a good steak and a place to unwind, so I took a chance on Ye Olde Lamplighter after seeing the reviews. Pulling into the parking lot, we weren't sure what to expect, this place blends right into its surroundings and gives major "if you know, you know" energy. It's literally next to a collector's shop. Walking inside felt like stepping into an old movie, very cozy, dim, and full of character. Booth seating is limited, so we started at a small table with the option to move once a booth opened up. Drinks in hand, we took in the scene and quickly realized this spot has karaoke and a loyal group of regulars who bring the entertainment. We ordered pan seared ahi and potato skins to start, and once we moved to a booth, the food arrived. The ahi was fresh and surprisingly good, especially for my first time trying it. The potato skins were classic and paired perfectly with our drinks. For entrées, we both went with the ribeyes and chose baked potatoes as our sides. The steaks came out tender, juicy, flavorful and honestly far better than we expected. The kind of meal that makes you pause mid‑bite and look at each other like, "Wait... this is actually delicious." And the pricing? Perfect. Almost unbelievable for the quality of the food, service, and overall experience. Between the great steaks, friendly staff, lively atmosphere, and the chance to just relax and enjoy each other's company, this place delivered exactly what we needed. We were in the area and found this place on Yelp. When we first pulled into the parking lot, I thought to myself, "no way". I'm glad I didn't listen to myself, and we went in and had a great experience. I would say that this place is like an old-fashioned steakhouse, dark, but comfortable. The bar area seemed to be occupied by regulars, as did several of the booths and tables in the dining area. We met Lisa & Dave, the owners, and Lisa waited on us, while Dave was tending the bar. We started with two Old Fashioned cocktails, one a Crème Brûlée and the other a Blackberry. Both were unique, outstandingly delicious, and at $9 each, a real steal. So much so, we shared a second Crème Brulé Old Fashioned. FOOD: They started us off with a complimentary basket of Cheesy Garlic Bread. We ordered the Sautéed Mushrooms ($14) to share. My mother-in-law got the Lamp Burger ($13) served with fries, and my wife and I both ordered the Prime Rib (Queen Cut $37) served with veggies & fries. We both got the side salad, but I also ordered a cup of Chili Verde soup ($5). I asked for a side of blue cheese dressing and received a small cup of the homemade blue cheese dressing using Gorgonzola which was fantastic! We finished it off with their Brown Butter Cake ($10) served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I can't begin to emphasize how delicious everything was, and the service was top notch. I guess the lesson is, don't judge a book by its cover (or the parking lot). We had a delicious meal, fantastic cocktails, and excellent service. We'd most definitely return for another visit. The family that owns this establishment is amazing to say the least! I made reservations for my grandmothers 70th birthday, upon arrival i was greeted and treated like family. The table was set up with water ready to go, the table setting was elegant. The server allowed us to take our time while we looked at the menu without rushing. And the food!!!! Was great! Steak, 2 sides and a salad for under $40!? Where else can you get that type of deal? They even brought the cake out we took to the restaurant with lit candles to sing happy birthday. We drove past this "Hidden Gem" steak house while cruising up to Lake Arrowhead & Big Bear Lake during the Thanksgiving week. The food is phenomenal and the prices are even better. We ordered the house special prime rib, rack of lambs, porterhouse & baked brie which were hands down one of the most delicious in our life time. Came up from OC with some friends for a concert at the casino and we were looking for a spot to eat before the show that was offsite to avoid the casino crowd, found this spot on Yelp. The pics looked good, reviews seemed positive and it did not disappoint. Couple of us had prime rib which was great, fish and chips got a thumbs up from a buddy of mine, all good stuff!! I stopped in here on Thursday expecting a nice quiet dinner. Unbeknownst to me it was karaoke night. So it was a little bit loud, but people were having a great time and enjoying the karaoke and getting up to sing good for them. I know the place had changed hands and they seem to fix things up very nicely. The restaurant is well attended and nicely decorated. I've had steaks here before and they've always been good. This time. I opted for the appetizer platter. It had chicken nuggets, onion rings, fried zucchini , shrimp, and mozzarella sticks. I enjoyed it very much. The service was very good even though the place was packed and there's really one waitress doing the restaurant and one attending the bar. The one attending the bar would help out in the restaurant area when she could I really didn't have to wait for anything. They did a great job Serving us. This is the best steakhouse in San Bernardino. Where the steaks are so tender you don't need teeth to chew on it. Ye Olde Lamplighter is a must try restaurant. The kitchen is always busy cooking some amazing food. The food is always cooked to perfection. The staff is very friendly and attentive, they also have great drinks. I would generally include recommendations, but you can't go with anything on the menu, that includes side dishes and desserts. Every item is delicious and quality food is incredible consistent. Also the mood was a good time, enjoyed the selection of karaoke. Older crowd but children invited until 10. 4 stars because bathrooms were not tidy and that's most likely due to such a larger crowd. I had such a wonderful experience the first time I was here. Sadly, today was to the contrary. We had a 7pm reservation. We were promptly seated and served our drinks, we ordered our food shortly after arriving. It was 8:45 and we had not yet received our food. I was upset but didn't want to be rude and just leave so we asked for our food to be packaged "to go" since it had been an hour and a half since we had placed our order. Coming from a food service background I understand inconveniences, emergencies, Hollidays,etc. but having to wait hour and a half for a steak to be grilled is unacceptable. I found Ye Old Lamplighter on Yelp while looking for a good place to celebrate my birthday with family. First off don't judge a book by its cover. The center that the restaurant is in is older & not updated. The interior is classic and long bar runs the front of the restaurant with two windows that give an excellent view of the mountains. 'We were greeted and seated right away. I ordered the Rack of lamb my partner ordered the Porterhouse Steak , mom had the sirloin . All served with soup or salad we opted for the clam chowder. Served with garlic bread. The rack of lamb was huge, cooked to perfection. Served with veggies and rice. The steaks were thick and cooked to orders. Dessert was the banana fosters cream brûlée., the cheese cake with chocolate sauce and a hot fudge sundae. Everything was excellent. Service was extremely friendly, the Restaurant is family owned and operated. Prices are very reasonable, wish I had taken pictures of the food but I was too busy enjoying it. Had a wonderful karaoke date here last night (Friday). We were welcomed by Sean the bartender as soon as we walked in. I wished we hadn't already eaten dinner-- our server, who was great, said they have excellent food. We just ordered cocktails and enjoyed listening to everyone sing. This is a crowd of friendly regulars of various demographics. The place is dimly lit, very cozy, and the little strings of lights make the room inviting. The KJ was accommodating and professional and also a fantastic vocalist. It got live around 10pm and the list of singers was long. I'd recommend signing up for your personal bangers right from the start cuz you might only get to go up 2-3 times depending on how late you want to stay.
