On separate occasions, I've ordered and enjoyed the Rib Eye Steak Sandwich, the Wedge Salad and the Lobster Tacos- I recommend them all! Who knew this little bistro/lounge at the Bear Springs Hotel in Highland, Ca. would have such a delicious menu? Oh, and they change the dining menu options ever so often. They also have a full bar menu for drinks as well. The vibe is upscale casual. There are two dinning areas at the hotel. One is the bistro (for more quiet dining) and directly across the hall is the lounge, where food and drink are also available. Great spot for a fun date night. On Friday and Saturday nights in the lounge, there is live music from 6-9pm. You can just order drinks and enjoy the music in the lounge, but you're gonna want to try the food too-it's yummy! It looks like it could have such potential, but unfortunately this is not a delicious dining experience. We had two different meals that were just sub par. Most recently we had breakfast. To start, the server took our order and was polite and organized. She brought out our drinks efficiently. The coffee is flavorless. The veggie omelet was flavorless too and tasted bland and like the eggs were watered down. The seafood omelette was fine. The biscuit and gravy was big. The pitcher for the hot tea had a dangerously broken handle that could have fallen off. I asked for Tabasco and got a little syrup container filled with Tabasco so that o needed to borrow someone's spoon to put it lightly on the potatoes because it was weird that it was to be poured on. I'm glad it wasn't crowded while we had dinner, possibly because this place is inside of a hotel, but I'd made a reservation ahead of time anyways. The server was personable and kind, the food was delicious, and the dining area was nicely decorated. They even had live music across the hall in the bar area. I have been here a few times and had good food and service. We came here to celebrate Thanksgiving with what we thought would be a nice meal. Unfortunately, I will not be back. The dining room was clean and nice. The service friendly, but was slow and all three meals came out barely warm. My brother and I went here to grab a bite the other day and get out of the heat. First time going and WOW! What a great first impression! The Atmosphere was great--parking made sense and was easy and the staff and service were top notch! All of the people there did not make us feel uncomfortable and they totally were kind and welcoming. We sat at the bar and the bartender knew the kind of mimosa I like and my brother's bloody mary was choice! Our server was really nice and accommodating as well! Excellent service and good quality ingredients plus well and properly cooked food. For the price, it is of appropriate value which met our expectations. We had gone to other local restaurants that sell steaks or beef on 40th streets and nearby areas. This little hidden restaurant is by far the best in the northern San Bernardino and Highland area. We do not gamble nor enjoy casino scenes. We just come here to eat. And enjoy the food and services. Ambiance is clean, orderly, and modern. My wife and I love this little place - well both little places. The nice restaurant, and the little lounge off to the side. The restaurant offers a nice, somewhat fancy-feel dining experience with high quality food selections and very good service. The little lounge has a cool vibe with really nice bartenders and they usually have live music on the weekends. They serve food and snacks in both spots so you can't lose. I left pictures of the food we have tried, and the nice smoked old fashioned they make. Great place, nice and clean everyone is very pleasant and friendly. Sadly I was served the worst breakfast steak I ever had and could not believe they actually served it. I was too tired to argue or refuse to pay so I asked for a side of bacon. The elevator projects these delicious breakfast steaks so I had high expectations. My steak literally looked like it was poached or cooked in the microwave. Shame on the cook for allowing that steak to leave the kitchen. But yes I'll be back we enjoyed my stay. read more

We were headed to a concert at Yaamava and found this place on Yelp. The prime burger was one of the most delicious burgers I have ever had. The entire environment was welcoming and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Robin was by far the most amazing server, making a great rum punch drink. She went over and above to ensure our order was made quickly so we would not be late for the concert. Would love to stay in the hotel next time we're in the area. Hello friends! So recently, I have learned an important lesson - that even a familiar dish can still be surprisingly beautiful, if prepared with love by the kitchen that serves it. The Loco Moco dish at the Bistro at Bear Springs Hotel the is the epitome of what comfort food should be. I had often seen this dish here and on other menus but never really felt tempted to try it, always opting for the more traditional breakfast entrees like eggs and bacon or pancakes instead. But this overcast weekend morning, I was famished and asked my trusted server Emma what she recommended. And she brought me the Loco Moco. This meal is, essentially - warmth and heartiness wrapped up in a hug - in a dish. I will forever be grateful to young Emma for introducing this into my life. The Loco Moco came out looking beautiful, a beef patty served with a mushroom and chive garnished brown gravy served alongside a a scrambled egg rosette and some lovely crispy rice. The delicate scrambled egg rosette was so light and fluffy and perfectly seasoned and cooked. I demolished it immediately! The patty was thick and juicy, medium temperature just like I specified and the gravy was present but not overbearing- it was just enough to be truly satisfying. All of the veggies - the mushrooms, the finely chopped carrots and asparagus in the rice and the side of broccolini were all tender and perfectly seasoned. The thick patty was delicious and the gravy was savory without being overwhelming. This hearty dish is also served with broccolini and three generous pieces of fried pork belly, drizzled with spicy mayo. The crispy rice was cleanly cooked and even finely chopped veggies in the rice were perfectly tender. I will be forever grateful to Emma and to the chef who prepared my Loco Moco breakfast this morning. And I hope they understand that this meal will now be the yardstick by which I measure all other versions of this dish. My only regret is that I have not tried sooner. The service at The Bistro has always been top notch and they are maintaining this tradition. Recently, Chef Kyle has overhauled the menu and created many new exciting dishes and offerings to try. So don't forget to make reservations or just drop in for breakfast at the Bistro and tell them Ms. Ross sent you! read more

This excellent review is well deserved. Today, we had brunch at this establishment, and we always enjoy the food when we visit. However, today was especially memorable. We invited family to join us, including my special-needs nephew. He is very active, and unfamiliar places can be challenging for him. Our server, Sebastian, was incredibly kind, patient, caring, and compassionate toward our situation. He made the experience much easier for us. In fact, the entire staff did. I highly recommend this place not only for its excellent food, but even more for its outstanding customer service. Please give them a chance. Service was disappointingly slow, and our server was not very attentive throughout the evening. We brought our own wine; she opened the bottle but never poured it, nor did she offer to pour either of the two bottles we brought. We split the "prime ribeye," but what we received looked and tasted more like two strip steak portions. For a prime ribeye, it was extremely tough and dry, with no marbling or fat at all. The lobster mac and cheese was also overcooked to the point where the lobster itself was dry. We ordered a charcuterie board to start and used the utensils already on the table. When our salads arrived, we had to ask for salad forks. The server brought only one because I hadn't specifically asked for two. I ended up using my dinner fork, which she then removed from the plate and placed directly on the table when clearing--rather than replacing it with a clean one. She eventually brought a fresh napkin and steak knife, but the overall service felt careless and below the standard I expected, especially given the rave reviews I had heard. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant and likely wouldn't return. read more

To celebrate a friends birthday and reign out, the girls and I headed to Bear Springs Grill for a nice dinner. We made a reservation and were greeted and seated promptly on arrival. We ordered The calamari and the balsamic glazed roasted Brussels sprouts for appetizers to share and both were delicious! This is my third time here at the bistro and lounge and I've enjoyed each time very much. Today I had the grilled ribeye and cheese sandwich and the amazing peach bread pudding dessert. Both were delicious very tasty. The hotel and restaurant in lounge or very elegant very pleasing to come in and eat here. Chip was the server this time. Hidden Gem? So, I have been here 3 times now, and its safe to say this is my favorite place to go. The food is incredible! So far I have had Loco Moco, Mahi tacos, Chicken Chilaquiles and a pesto veggie omelette. (yes thats a lot of food for three visits, I went with my wife and we shared plates). Aside from the food being incredible, the service being extraordinary and the costs being more than reasonable, my favorite thing is the location. Being in N. San Bernardino there are not a lot of options for dining without going to Rancho or Redlands. This place is a no brainer! Let me begin by saying this restaurant is inside a hotel. I found it on Yelp, and it looked like something enjoyable to try. I give 5 stars to the server/bartender Robin. 4 stars for the ambiance, however only 2 stars for our food Please read on...... When we walked in, we decided to look at the menu, before sitting inside the restaurant. There was a bar area across from it. We stood in there to look at the menu. Shortly after walking in the Bar, a very kind employee named Robin came over. We had quick conversation with her and expressed what we were doing, she immediately said you must stay, everything is house made. She ran and brought over some complimentary Yucca Chips (they were good). Since she was so so kind, we decided to stay, as well as dine inside the bar at the tables. We ordered 2 Bistro Burgers, by her recommendation. 1 ordered medium, the other medium well.. with French fries. So upon cutting the burger in half a large amount of blood just spilled out everywhere! Absolutely Horrible! We called Robin over and showed her, she agreed that it was just over rare. She took my plate back to the chef, whom agreed it was wrong. Very disappointing. My husband went ahead and ate so he didn't have cold food. It took so long that he was done with his, so much for enjoying dinner together. My burger was brought back by a woman, African American in plain clothes, she said nothing to me at all. She placed it on the table and walked away. Here's what should never ever happen..... my burger was served to me cut in half, and then inside the half's, they were cut open too! Really. If you are not confident in cooking to temp, that's concerning. I did go ahead and eat the burger, as I was very hungry. However, it had absolutely no flavor, had to ask Robin for black pepper, and dipped it in ranch too make it edible. The fries on both plates were extremely overcooked and crunchy. Not such a great experience for us. Robin did mention we should come back and try other items, as the menu was changing next week. I admit I'm very hesitant to return, even though there was a few items on menu that sound wonderful. Again, Robin was the Rockstar at this establishment. I wish this had been a better experience, and if that was the manager who dropped the re make at the table, then she should have introduced herself, apologized, and offer something to us. Over the years, my wife and I have grown accustom to the good food, large rooms and stellar customer service. Being a diamond Yaamava member definitely has its perks. This weekend we checked in and everything was going smooth as usual when we noticed the stomps and banging in the room above us. We stayed in 203. I called the front desk and told them it sounded like kids running back and forth. They apologized for the inconvenience and said it would be address. Needless to say, the running back and forth continued most of the night. I called again after breakfast (apple sausage was amazing) and complained that the running back and forth and stumps was still happening. The tall white guy manager named Josh or Jason did a horrible job of handling it. He kept trying to move us to another room and said there's nothing else he could do. I was like really? It's our anniversary weekend and we're forced to spend it like this? I almost went up there and knocked on the door myself out of frustration. Later on in the evening around 6:00PM, I called to complain again and spoke with Samantha. Now this is a real manager!!! She said that she went up there and heard for herself the ruckus they were causing. She then told me that if this continued, she would ask this guests to leave. The running and stomping stopped shortly afterwards. This year we have spent upwards of $40,000 with Yaamava and really enjoy coming to this casino. Had it not been for Samantha, my wife and I were planning to never come back and go to Morongo for our next outing. Good job Samantha, you retained a valued guests. Sidebar - smoke alarm went off at 6:00AM. Called the front desk and they said someone pulled the fire alarm. I think we're gonna just stay at the hotel on the casino property in the future. First time visiting this restaurant and we were impressed. We were greeted at the entrance and led to a table in the nicely decorated but smallish dining room. Monday night at 6pm and we were the only diners for a while. We ordered drinks, which took a little longer than we expected, being the only diners at that time. For an appetizer we ordered the brussels sprouts and they were so good. We each ordered a salad to start and they were delicious but huge. We could easily have split one. When our entrees came we were almost full. My husband thought the pasta dish was ok; I got the birria pho and it was good but also huge. When we told our waitress that it was our first time there she welcomed us very enthusiastically and said that dessert was on the house. We were way too full for it then so she boxed it up. We never saw a dessert menu so it was a surprise when we got home, and it was a fabulous red velvet cheesecake. Looking forward to returning and trying some other dishes there. read more

I paid $62 for a 12-ounce steak that was mostly fat and extremely greasy, with only two pieces of tough broccolini and some potato chip-like pieces as the "side." The menu mentioned mushrooms, but there was only a tiny burnt scrap on top. To make matters worse, I felt sick shortly after getting home, likely from the amount of grease.
