Came here on a Saturday evening after doing some pottery nearby, and it was the perfect way to wrap up the night! If I could give zero stars, I would. I came here with three people, and what happened was unbelievable. When we walked in, one of the staff members decided where he thought we should sit. When we politely asked to sit at another table, he instantly said, "No, you can't sit there." I calmly asked why, and instead of explaining, he said, "I don't like your attitude -- you can leave the restaurant." I was shocked. I asked to speak with the manager, and he arrogantly said, "I am the manager." His tone was disrespectful, rude, and completely unprofessional. I wasn't raising my voice or being rude at all -- I was simply asking a question. No one else in the restaurant wanted to give his name, and they all just stood there quietly while he kicked us out for absolutely no reason. I have never been treated so badly at any restaurant. If this is how management behaves, it says everything about this place. Avoid Redlands OysterCult at all costs. The staff has zero respect for customers, and the so-called manager should not be allowed to deal with people. Let's just say that Redlands Oyster Cult (ROC) always serves what's fresh for the season so it's best to stop by every once in a while to try them all. My recent visit, Hammersley was my favorite compared to north bays and the summers. I've honestly tried almost everything on the menu here from both the regular menu and the changing menu. They'll have rotating specials for entrees and drinks (bc this place stays fun and updated). Food doesn't disappoint! But truth is I'm usually here for the oysters and drinks- they're S tier. Interesting dinner experience with room for improvement! Came here on a busy weekend night, and the check in process was confusing. There is no formal put-your-name down or phone number to hold your place in line. You tell an employee, who has no name tag, that you're waiting and he recommends you wait by the bar (standing on the side) until he calls you. There is no system of knowing who arrived first though, so I saw some parties get seated before us who arrived afterwards. They also don't take reservations. I found that confusing, but we eventually sat down. Food was really good and high quality, but the prices were so high! Cocktail shrimp and oysters were fresh and delicious and cold, but the fish tacos were lackluster and a big heavy and greasy. The crab cakes were delicious. There was a special cocktail on the board called moon landing, and apparently it's a joke? It doesn't exist, which is the restaurant's joke of saying the moon landing didn't happen. I happened to be in Redlands on business. Because my meetings ran longer than expected I decided to find a place to have dinner and let rush hour traffic die down. I pulled up Yelp (as I always do...wink wink) and found ROC which had good reviews and was nearby. I quickly found free parking in the city garage and made my way to the restaurant. The entrance was little tricky as you had to go down a long hallway past another restaurant to get to their location in the back of the building. I was quickly seated at the bar which provided a nice view of the action. Their menu is not very large, but that usually means the restaurant excels at what they offer and this meal was no exception. I was intrigued by the cocktail menu when I was approached by one of the employees. After asking me a few questions, he recommended the Retrograde which was a mashup of an Old Fashioned and a Whiskey Sour IMO. It contained bourbon. ginger, honey, lemon and mint. It was absolutely delicious and was the perfect accompaniment to my meal. I started with the Aguachile, a favorite of mine if you follow my reviews. I also reluctantly ordered the Oysters ROC, their version of Oysters Rockefeller. I say reluctantly because I am usually disappointed when I order this dish, mainly because it's hard to beat my homemade version which I make regularly. But the server highly recommended it so I gave in. The Aguachile was the bomb!! It contained slices of chilled jumbo scallops bathed in a bright citrusy aguachile with jalapeño and toped with radish, avocado and herb oil. One of my biggest pet peeves about aguachile is heat. It is supposed to have a nice spicy finish and this one hit all the right notes. The fact that my nose was running meant they don't shy away from making it traditionally spicy. Kudos!!! The Oysters ROC came out and I was shocked at how closely it resembled my version. Admittedly the oysters were a bit on the small side, but upon the first bite I knew I had a winner. Not only did it resemble mine but the taste was amazingly similar to my homemade version. That was a first for me! The oysters were topped with a nice amount of spinach that had been sautéed with shallot and deglazed with Pernod, a splash of cream and a little Parmesan cheese followed by panic crumbs and baked to perfection. I could have eaten two or three orders. They were that good!! What a fantastic find in Redlands. I would love to have place like that near me as I would be a regular customer. The service was excellent and the food exceeded my expectations. I guess that means I need to drum up more reasons to go to Redlands so I can return to ROC often! read more

Food was amazingly fresh to start out. Some of the best oysters I have ever had. I ordered crab cakes, 6 in shell oysters, and a steak. Only issue i have was that for the price of the steak i would have expected a 16 ounce that was thick. Unfortunately the steak was maybe 6 OZ. In addition the selection with the steak should not be fries. I would have liked a bit of greens or a baked potatoes. Service I must say was outstanding and I have to thank our waitress for being so attentive to every detail for every request we made. Thank you. Very intimate ambiance, but still a bit too small. I stopped in Redlands Oyster Cult for an early dinner on a Friday evening while I was waiting for rush hour traffic to dissipate. I love oysters and had walked by the restaurant the night before. After reading the rave reviews, I had to stop by. The restaurant is located between State Street and Orange Street Alley, with the entrance on Orange Street Alley. The restaurant is mostly a bar, but I should note that there are a few small booths and tables around the bar, and, at least in the early evening, it appears to be family friendly. Upon walking in, I was quickly greeted and asked where I would like to sit. I chose a seat at the bar. The server was quick to assist by hanging my shopping bags on the bar hooks. The bar is modern and nicely decorated. The bar is marble surrounded by metal with hanging light fixtures. It was nice and cool on a hot day. Service was really excellent. I cannot even tell you how many times the servers refilled my water on this very hot eventing in Redlands. I started by talking with my server a bit and I chose a cocktail the thad both whiskey and tequila, which sounded a little bizarre, but I was assured that it was very balanced. When it came out, it certainly was balanced, and very flavorful, and not sweet at all, which is my preference. I then ordered a half dozen oysters and an order of the crab cakes. They brought out the oysters with a small sign that wrote out the 3 different varieties. All of them were fresh and delicious, with various sizes and subtle differences. As I ate the oysters, my water continually got refilled. They then brought out the crab cakes just as I finished off the oysters. The crab cakes were very lightly breaded, and melted in my mouth. They came with a delicious remoulade. I would have stayed for more cocktails and more oysters, but the traffic had dissipated and it was time to go.... and there was a small group of people waiting for my spot at the bar. We decided to have a Redlands date night this past Saturday and somehow found our way down the alley to arrive here that evening. So happy we stumbled across this place and gave it a try! Now I can't stop thinking of when we can go back to try more dishes! We got two orders of fresh oysters. I haven't really had any fancy pricey oysters before and honestly don't know the differences between the ones we tried but they were very tasty! I loved the atmosphere even though it was a but warm inside. Service was A+! I forget what our waitresses' name was but she is so sweet and helpful! Also the man who was working in the front hosting us was very on top of it. Last night was my first night here as my friends and I were bar hopping. One of my friends said he's never tried oyster so we dragged him here. We ordered oyster shooters. I noticed the shot had vodka in it, so I asked the waiter if it was possible to order it without the vodka. Our waiter said no problem, so I was glad about that. When we got in the oyster shooter, the waiter gave a different suggestions as to how to take the shot. My friends and I ended up eating the oyster first and then taking the shot. The shot was very tasty. It was a little zucchini with a kick to it. The oyster tasted fresh and was not chewy, or had a fishy, oh shinny, taste to it. Our evening began with Oyster Butter Bombs - broiled oysters served with 2 flavored compound butters made with cashews with sea lettuce, fennel/bee pollens on grilled sourdough toast points. Then we dived into the Lobster Mushroom Bisque - Washington state wild foraged lobster mushrooms, shallot, garlic, charred vegetable stock, tomato, white wine, tarragon cream, garlic crouton cultured cashew butter. We soon realized this evening was going to be classic Sharon... but this time all plant based ingredients! We were presented with a End of Summer Tamal next Corn masa, poblano, ortega, russet, fresh corn & blackbean salad, crumbled cheese, lime crema, cilantro, house pique sauce. HOLD UP THO!!! What blew our minds was the Strawberry Rhubarb Gazpacho LAWWWWRRRRRDDDD HAF MERCY!! if ya'll would've seen my eyes roll to the back of my HEADDDDDD!
