We rarely get to the frog in the morning but we got lucky...Juan was our cook and had the reputation for being a top notch chef....He did not disappoint, he created a masterpiece breakfast burrito. The nachos I had were made 95 percent with the pump cheese similar to gas stations. They melted a little real cheese on it just to make it seem like it was made with real shredded cheese. The nachos are listed with sour cream, but did not have sour cream. I had to ask. Salsa should have been automatic, but no salsa. The margaritas were very refreshing, but very light on alcohol and cost $9.50 during happy hour hours. I was there between 5 & 6 pm. I guess they do not have a happy hour..... The regulars were clearly more important, and when she asked if I needed anything else, I said no, and she literally said, "excellent", as if she were glad to be rid of me. I was in no way difficult. This used to be a spot I frequently visited a few years ago. Had a couple things on the menu I felt the cook did pretty well. Drinks reasonably priced and a laid back atmosphere with seemingly mostly regular locals that are familiar with each other, which is how I remember it being in years past. Unfortunately, I'll probably never return. My waitress seemed to be intentionally unfriendly. I stopped in for lunch and ordered a burger and fries, had to ask for a napkin and was never offered ketchup, lol. After my first of two budlights sat in front of me empty for about 15-20 mins, I finally got her attention to ask for another. She finally brought that bottle over after serving about 5 other customers and completing a FEW bar tasks, lol. $2 tip cuz I can't let her treat me like that and reward her for it. Say what you will about the decor, whatever, service was great, but the food? Oh my gosh, the food is off the hook. I'm here to talk about the food. I ordered the pastrami cheeseburger and that thing was huge. For the price, I definitely got all the bang out of my buck and the taste was not lacking. Maybe she was having a bad night, but she doesn't acknowledge her customers, no rapport, more like a ," here's your efen drink" . Don't bartend then lady! This place can be a hit and miss, i would recommend going early 5-7, playing shuffle board , have a drink or two and be on your way. We went on a Sunday for a burger after getting a coupon. Food was decent and staff was friendly. Zeke told us about their Thursday night steak dinner for $7.95. We decided to give it a try. It was crowded and it took a little while to get waited on but we figured this was more a bar than a restaurant so we waited. Glad we did. Joanne came to our table and she was wonderful. Handled us in a way that made us forget about the wait. We ordered two drinks, 2 steak dinners, and I added on a lobster tail for $6 and our bill was $30. It was well worth the money and we will definitely go back. Joanne deserves a raise. I don't care how much she is paid, she deserves more for her amazing customer service.
