I've wanted to go here since I was a kid. How cool does "Ye olde Pizza pub" sound?! Finally, I got to go at almost 40 years old. I was a little nervous, despite wanting to go here forever, because some reviews are completely awful and others are super old. So now I'm updating it for everyone else! You're welcome! :) Now, someone people wrote how "dark" and "dungeon- like" this place was.. c''mon! Read.the.name! It was as I expected, darker... but not so bad I couldn't see the people with me or how my food looked. There were super long wooden tables and benches, booths also available. It was chilly (it's a COLD January in CNY) but they had a gas fire and wall heater and the wall thermometer said "72" so it was probably me. It's definitely an older establishment- it was founded in 1971!!! But it brought me back to the bars of my childhood, as weird as that sounds! (I remember going to pizza with my parents after my dad's adult softball games and my parents would split a pitcher of beer.). Anyhow, there were wood panel walls and beige/ brown/ yellow floral tiles around the salad bar. It was an oddly comforting atmosphere. And yes, as indicated, the tables had etchings from since its establishment and they were a little sticky, but it could've been lacquer(?!). The bathrooms had updates and were clean and in working order. Sadly, there were no wenches and beer wasn't served in pub mugs as I'd hoped. Also, no horses out front or knights. Oh well!! Regarding the food and staff- This is an order ahead and serve your self kinda place. There are seats to eat in but you get ur own drink and they bring you the food/ pizza when it's ready or you order to-go. There is a projection tv for the kiddos and video games available. High chairs available. Definitely family friendly. I did call ahead, which I recommend as there was a steady stream of people coming and going. The person who answered was very kind and patient. I was able to locate a menu online although it wasn't connected to any online ordering or their website- fine by me. Everyone working was high school or college aged. Salad bar was good, basic, but yummy. Definitely reminiscent of salad bars of the past! To some people with high expectations, I can see their complaints, it's not a Ruby Tuesday's! We got pizza and taters. Taters are potato wedges for those that don't know- I didn't. I highly recommend them! Pizza was fine, not the best but definitely not the worse. They add ricotta my husband tells me, so it was a little different than I expected. My kids ate it no complaints. They also cut it in squares not triangles like most places. It was also thin cut not pan pizza. Overall, my kids behaved amazingly and enjoyed it. I enjoyed it, I'm glad I finally went. Would I go again?, probably, but I'm not wild about pizza so it wouldn't be my first choice. I hope this review helps anyone that skeptical. I say go and make up your own mind! This was my first visit, meeting a friend for dinner as we regularly do. It is very dark and unwelcoming upon entering. The girl behind the counter didn't say hello, just simply "are you here to pick up an order"? I said no, can we sit and eat here, she said (not very enthusiastically) "you can but you have to come up here to order". At that point we agreed and she said "do you know what you want to order?" Perhaps she wasn't picking up on the clues that we had never been there before, weren't familiar with the menu and didn't know what we were going to get, so we had to ASK for menus and then sat down, decided on our selections and returned to the counter. The chicken on the menu was listed by piece so we were confused- was it chicken tenders, fried chicken? Well lo and behold it was none of the above since they don't have that chicken anymore because "the guy that used to make it doesn't make it anymore". Funny how you present a menu but it's not even accurate. Anyway we settled on our order (two antipastos and a shared order of mozzarella sticks) and bottled Iced teas - she did offer that fountain drinks had free refills if we wanted to go that route. We ate in relative darkness and dealt with the sticky table. The salads were ok. Salami cheese olives tomatoes lettuce and pepperoncinis, they could have used some pepperoni or ham and the mozzarella sticks were average at best. A bit lumpy. Not gooey. This is a hometown favorite. This Pub Style pizza place is good for the entire family with the projection tv and some games to entertain the kids the pub style tables accommodate bigger groups. The pizza and wings are unique as the pizza has a delicious cornmeal dusted crust and the wings although small are packed full of saucy flavor no matter what your sauce preference may be and who don't love taters with their signature blue cheese.. When we walked in there was no way of knowing what was on the menu because menus were non existent. We ordered and waited for at least 45 minutes only to find that the food was horrendous. Called to order and simply ask their gluten free options for my gluten free pregnant wife and instead of being put on hold I got to listen to them rudely talk about the questions I was asking in the background. Pretty simple questions too like "can you do a gf chicken bacon ranch pizza?" And "is your fish fry breaded" "are your potato wedges breaded?". Apparently that was too much of a bother for them. I have honestly seen a downhill progression in the quality of the pub. The overall environment in the restaurant is pretty good to just sit and chat inside, but as for everything else, it's not good. The pub was not busy when I went. We ordered a pizza, wings, wedges, and a salad. They did not make the salad until 25 minutes after we ordered it (including a reminder). The pizza is always drenched in grease, and the wings are hilariously small. The wedges were pretty good, however, we ordered a large order of wedges and they only gave us some wedges. We were told by the nicest employee I saw there that there will be more coming out, but it took a very long time for that to happen. As for the employees, like I said, this one woman behind the counter was super nice to us. Everyone else did not make the place feel welcoming. No smiles or talking or any signs of life shown. We also had to wait a long time just to get takeout boxes after everyone left the front area and did not look to see there were people waiting at the counter, so we had to yell for help. We were in the area trying different pizzas for their wedding: Joey and Vinny's is our favorite, definitely recommend. Anywho, we went in and decided to try a buffalo chicken wing pizza! We got our pizza which looked like it had been drenched in water as a finishing touch but decided to not judge a book by its cover. We had taken a slice, my best friends fiancé went to go in for a bite and he found a hair in the food. He picked it out and tried for another, we all tried a bite and were not impressed. We brought it back up saying there was a hair in it and that it didn't taste very good (did not even ask for a refund). They brought it back and dug into it looking for a hair and we heard another say, "this doesn't look good either". A very nice blonde woman said that she was sorry and would have another coworker call the manager to see what to do in the situation. A different girl, very unexperienced to say the least, very rudely said "the only thing I can do for you is give you store credit or make you another pizza" and we politely said that we live an hour away so no need for a store credit and we do not want another pizza. She told us there was nothing else they could do and we reminded the girl that there was a hair in the pizza. She replies, "Oh now there's a HAIR in the pizza?" And we replied with, yes there is a hair in the pizza. She did not believe us and was quite rude. She then proceeded to swear at us and we asked for the managers number and she refused to give it to us. Have been here a handful of times and each time the food was just "ok" ..my bf RAVES about this place. he usually orders the wings which are smaller than your normal size and pretty crispy. The sauce he LOVES -bleu cheese-is super watery.. (along with all the other sauces) Pizza is kind of bland, taste basically like your eating bread with a lot of corn meal covered with sauce and whatever toppings you put on. They do serve lots of fried food, asked for grilled chicken and they only have fried. I will say their salad bar was delicious! Pub sells adult beverages & fountain drinks. The inside is sooo dark& gloomy it's like you're eating in a dungeon...there's a big screen with a projector which usually plays stuff for the kids, the tables are long picnic like tables that have things carved into them from over the years. read more

I grew up in Waterville and have fond memories of pizza and kiddie cones at the Pizza Pub with my great grandma eating the hottest wings known to man kind. Went this past July, was a little dissapointed. First of all, they were serving beer, they were trying to avoid drunken problems with a local event that was happening nearby that has caused problems in the past. Not their fault, we all understood completely! The hot wings were pretty salty, we still have a running joke about it 8 months later... Pizza was good as always, not mind blowing, but definitely good New York pizza that I miss living out here in SoCal. The appearance and ambiance would definitely scare a lot of people away, as it's a bit dank and dark with nothing to entice a random passerby. To combat that, the Pub has some of the tastiest food you'll ever consume. It's hard to say what makes the pizza so delicious, but it's the best I've ever had. It's got a lot of cheese with not too much sauce, and can be a tiny bit greasy. The best way to eat it is with no toppings, or if you simply must have one, with pepperoni. The wings have the same level of inexplicable deliciousness, as they are very small compared to most other wings, but pack a great taste. The meat is so tender that it nearly falls off the bone. The beer is cheap, but they serve it in small glasses or in plastic cups, which can be a little off-putting. The decor is perfect for the restaurant. It seems a bit dirty, and the TV and arcade games are about 20 years behind the times. The long picnic tables are covered in carvings of past diner's names and the seating is only on benches. As much as it may sound like a horrible place to dine, it works perfectly. There is nothing to distract from the wonderful flavors and aromas. Make sure you don't eat for around 12 hours before arrival. You're going to want the maximum amount of space in your stomach for this meal. read more

We'd tried the other local places (Oliveri's, Slices, VJ's). So, going out to Ye Olde Pizza Pub had never really been high on the list. There are only so many other places to go in Hamilton, though, so we finally made it out there- what a surprise! For sure it's a no-frills place, with big bench tables, where you order pitchers of beer and mountains of pizza or wings to be consumed mead-hall style (though I'm not sure I'd actually recommend tossing your chicken bones or pizza crusts over your shoulder) Pizza still isn't exactly high on my list of priorities, but seeing as it's more or less inevitable in Hamilton, I'd definitely choose the Pizza Pub over any of the other options. read more
