YOT is already one of my favorite places to eat in Manchester but with COVID and all, how good would take out be? Question answered tonight. Same great food, served hot and delicious and ready on time. We enjoyed a most delicious meal of roasted duck with raspberry demi glaze plus a spicy scallop dish served with bacon and spinach. My husband & I went for dinner and left unimpressed by this place. Starting with the positive, the host & waitress were pleasant and attentive. We ordered the mushrooms stuffed with crab as a starter and it tasted like it was stuffed with cheese rather than crabmeat. Whatever cheese that put in it overwhelmned the crab. I had the scrod and it was a bit dry. My husband had mac & cheese with mushrooms, which he liked, but he commented that he thought the serving size was more like an appetizer. Overall the menu is uninspired comfort food that is overpriced for what it is. The place seems to lean heavily on it's history & atmoshere as being the draw. If it were in a larger city, it would struggle to survive with the menu they present. This is not upscale cuisine but is priced as such. I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Visited Ye Olde Tavern for dinner the other night. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but with limited heating. If sitting outside, I recommend sitting as close to the building as possible. We had a lovely experience. We ordered the baked Brie to share, and then a New York sirloin with garlic butter and the salmon with horseradish crust. Both items come with a choice of salad (garden or Cesar) and a choice of rice and mashed potatoes. Both were delicious. Although we sat outside, the inside looked lovely and had a lot of history. My compatriot and I realized this as soon as we were seated in a cozy corner of the Patriot Room, in which you'll find a portrait of George Washington, presidential bobbleheads, and other tokens that enshrine America's greatness. We powdered our wigs and opened our menus. The cuisine of Ye Olde Tavern reflects the bountiful harvests of the Vermont hearth. Let me save the best for first and open with the cranberry fritters. The cranberry flavor is as delicate and carefully thought out as the complex fritting process itself. As if such perfection needed improvement, these ambrosial orbs are served with a maple butter that I couldn't help but scream about Now look at your menu. Why not opt for chunks of pot roast bathing in thick country gravy? Perhaps you'd rather dive into a cauldron of steamy Mac and cheese with a lobster infusion (double no-no if you're keeping kosher of course). Any path you choose here will lead you to success, and you'll feel good about it for weeks. This place is marketed heavily but let me save you a trip - don't bother. Food is meh, prices are out of control for " dollops" of food, service was egotistic - they really do think they are something and they are not. Our server Tom was horrible and uninterested in us. I never would have thought Southern Vermont to be such a great culinary destination, but spots like this make it fabulous! I absolutely loved Ye Olde Tavern, in equal parts for the food and the experience. The building has a very interesting history and looks to be authentic to the time period. Lots of cool antiques throughout help give it a really neat ambiance. Thankfully they don't just rely on a cool building, but also have excellent food as well. The cranberry fritters are so good, especially with the maple butter. Although I'm starting to get a bit sick of maple by this point in my trip, this was still delightful! For my entree I ordered the turkey platter, and omg it was delicious. The stuffing was some of the best I've ever had in my life, as were the sweet potatoes. I can't recommend this dish highly enough. In addition to great food and ambiance, the service was excellent as well. Our waitress was very efficient and gave us some recommendations on where to go around town. Ye Olde Tavern was a wonderful spot and really shouldn't be missed if in the area! read more

The food is always amazing. Yet, no matter how much money I have spent in here - my wedding engagement dinner, my first home in Vermont house warming gathering, no matter what as minorities my son and I are always put by swinging doors of the kitchen or a hidden corner. - Always treated like a second class citizen in here. The place is authentic and the staff super nice. The food is decent and does the job but it is not haute cuisine. Comfort food, nothing super fancy or creative but hits the spot if you are hungry. Let's put it this way: probably more famous for the history of the place than the food they serve. Absolutely agree with your response Michael. The owner of Olympia Lodge, Trish, recommended and made reservations for us at this restaurant. It was the kind of ambience I love. An old inn built in the late 1700s, it has plenty of history, is cozy, dimly lit and romantic. They serve up comfort food at reasonable prices. Order the venison sausage appetizer. You won't be disappointed, and you will want to cover everything else you order with the blackberry sauce it comes with, which is exactly what I did with my pork chop! read more

My boyfriend and I are in town for a ski trip this week and have been pleasantly surprised with how delicious our meals have been everywhere we have gone so far. Ye Olde Tavern is no exception. The portions were generous and the food was fresh and excellent. We opted for the lobster mac and cheese appetizer followed by chicken pot pie and scallops for our entrees. There was not one thing we didn't enjoy. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and the ambiance was charming and cozy. We also enjoyed the delicious cranberry fritters and maple butter served when we sat down-- a very nice touch. We definitely plan to return on our next ski vacation! read more

we had the chicken pot pie and the turkey dinner. started with the stuffed mushrooms. no complaints about the food, the chicken pot pie was more of a chicken sheppards pie (no crust and topped with mash potatoes). since we love Sheppard's pie, that worked for us. the server was friendly and responsive. we would return for sure. read more

We had a great time at Ye Olde Tavern. The food was delicious, Michael was great. He made sure that I was warm when I was sat next to a window by providing me a heater. The food was terrific we highly recommend the chicken pot pie, the baked brie and the drinks were great. I even forgot my pocketbook and Michael called me the next morning several times to make sure that he connected with me so he could return it. All in all a fantastic experience, we highly recommend. We came on a Friday night for the prime rib but it was gone pretty fast. We got the turkey dinners instead. The cranberry fritters were cold but I think they'd be good fresh. I could slather that maple butter on everything. The turkey dinners were good but the star of this restaurant is the building and the history. I asked the hubby if he wanted to go back since we have more time here but he said he'd rather try other places since for the price he wasn't wowed. When I think about it, I agree. What great food, ambience and service. We made a reservation for Saturday night before Mother's day. A romantic and historic setting. ,A warm cozy fireplace, quietly welcoming you with decor of an old Federal Colonial. If cuisine could be described as fine dining of home cooking with a New England flair it was absolutely delicious. I happen to live in New England and by far the food was fresh with local ingredients and the menu was diverse. It tasted so above par of any New England menu we have ever had.The turkey was fresh and although sometimes the accompaniment can be bland every morsel was so good. My husband had the pot roast and he too said it was the best he had ever had. I felt even the desserts was gourmet with granny's cake a light lemon meringue cake with a delicate flavor. I also like to note how the staff particularly our server Wojciech was anticipating what was happening before we did. We felt relaxed and enjoyed a good meal without being rushed, and we were able to appreciate not just a good meal but the atmosphere as well excellent service from our server. Definitely one of the best meals we have ever had, and I don't say that lightly, as travel for work around the world. We cant wait to go back!. read more

This is a wonderful restaurant. It's rich in history. It's from the late 1700s. The food was delicious. We did an early bird special for I think 20 dollars a person. The special runs only from 5 to 559 pm.field green salad with blue cheese amazing . Cranberry or apple fritters delicious most of all the maple butter that you put in them . Oh wow. ! Entree was the delicious pot roast with mash potatoes some wonderful veggies . Oh almost forgot the rosemary rolls also complimentary. Had a beer that was great and a cocktail also great. Maybe the coziest restaurant I've ever eaten at in my life! True Vermont charm! This place came recommended by our innkeeper, Vinny, at Aspen and we are so glad we gave it a shot. My boyfriend got the chicken pot pie and it was excellent. Skip the shrimp scampi - mine was a bit dry. The cranberry fritters and ceasar salad that come with all entrees were on point! Great meal, good service. Fair price. I've been here twice with exceptional staff to accommodate groups ranging in size from 6 to 12 at a table. My last trip had a waitress with an ace bandage which made me uneasy due to the unknown origins of why it was wrapped around their right palm. Overall, a great dining experience. read more

The dining experience was fabulous! The maple butter with the bread with the fritters were awesome. We got the lobster bisque which was thick and exactly what you want on a rainy night. While visiting Vermont, we ate at the Ye Olde Tavern. We had the Turkey dinner and the Sirloin steak, both were delicious. Not to mention the salads, the bread, and last but not least the cranberry fritters with maple butter. Coming from Texas, we didn't expect such amazing comfort food. Just what we needed after a long day of driving. The price was good too, great value. The atmosphere was authentic old world tavern, uneven floors, and beams through out.
