So, I've been coming here for over a year now. Not often, but I do make a point of stopping in when I'm in the area. Still LOVE the black sesame mochi bun, which, if you're a fan of mochi, you'll love the bread-chew here. You need to eat them the same day, as they are not the same the day after and/or I haven't figured out how to bring them back to life. (they get hard) Today, however, I grabbed a tray and got some for a friend also. I tend to pick black bean filled buns and pastry because I'm a TOTAL FAN OF BLACK BEAN. You'll be AMAZED at how filled their buns are!! There is NO SKIMPING here!! I specifically liked the coarse black bean which has a great texture!! Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo, but the lima bean filled cake "manju" (Japanese name) was amazing. It was so fresh and delicious and the lima bean also had great texture. They also had a chocolate meringue cookie that resembled a chewy chocolate cookie I get at another bakery, but theirs was different. Since it was meringue based, it was very crunchy and also had nuts, but not chewy at all. Still great tho!! Next time, I will definitely post photos and I'll be back again soon!! Small bakery in a plaza with multiple restaurants and a grocery. Lots of baked pastries that are traditionally Korean and all delicious : try the creamy custard filled pastry, further and cream flaky type croissant, soft and white fingers of pastry , also carries whole cakes but I haven't had any chance to try those. Quiet lady served me, I'm pretty certain she is also the baker and owner. Clean shelves were stocked. I refrigerated the creamy or custard filled pastries and they held up well for several days. Once upon a time, another delightful Yelp-worthy find! We were looking for some good buns, pastries, and/or rolls. We were so glad to find this small bakery. We arrived later in the day, so were lucky to find some delicacies were still available. **December 2023: Saturday Early Afternoon Visit** I had visited this bakery in the past and was in the market for a delicious "not too sweet cake." When I came to Yelp to look at photos some of the recent reviews made me concerned that perhaps the quality had gone down, and that it was no longer what it use to be. I was tasked to get a cake for my mom's birthday and I obviously didn't want to disappoint. Regardless, I decided to take a chance and see for myself. When I entered there were a fairly good selection of cakes. I was super curious to try the sweet potato, but the fruit cake just looked so majestic that I opted for that. I also saw some croquettes that looked as if they were freshly baked so I picked up two of those as well. After I left a swarm of middle-aged asian women flocked to the store to buy cakes, so I'm glad I got mine while the display case still have options. When I saw my parents I gave them each a croquettes and my dad liked it so much he asked me where I got it. I guess when I'm in La Palma I'll be grabbing more of those lol As for the cake - it was a huge hit! The cake itself was moist, soft and spongy, and the cream was fluffy, light and a tad sweeter than Taiwanese bakeries but my whole family thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm somewhat surprised at some of the poor reviews, because I had a really positive experience. For my 10 inch fruit cake it was $38, which I can guarantee you would have costed $50+ at any other Asian bakery, without compromising quality, and the Korean woman who helped me was very nice. Do not go here. The lady behind the cashier is extremely rude and has no concept of what customer service is. She will not acknowledge you and seems absolutely miserable to be working there. I needed birthday cake and didn't order in advance. I was able to get one even though it was the end of the day. They only had a few but the fam loved the cake. Everything looked really good. Always good baked goods and friendly ladies. Got blueberry cake and fruit cake. Blueberry cake was better. If you need a larger size cake, order a few days ahead. Their prices are much better than other chain korean bakeries. Next time I will plan ahead and order in advance. Their castellammare is good too. These people are so rude. And they are liars. It's this La Palma branch. I brought my son to get some korean donuts and they said they weren't ready. So I went to the soup restaurant next door to eat some soup while the donuts were being prepared. As I was eating my soup, I saw a lady walk in with those supposedly not ready donuts. I was pissed. So i dropped my spoon and walked over to Ye Wool. And the liar lady in the front said she just got sold out. Mind you, I had my 7 year old with me. These donuts were for him. December 2021 Since the pandemic the location has signs that only allow 1 customer in at a time and must wear mask. This location offers a variety of different pastries. Prices can vary from .75 +. We like to always get the half loaf of gombo bang (peanut bread), garlic bread, cream puffs. Kids and I decided to get a snack after their piano lesson nearby. We went in to an empty store and as we browsed the lady at the counter just looked annoyed. When we finally picked our bread we go over to the counter and my 8 year old daughter tries to make small talk and tells her that her store is so cute. Lady didn't even acknowledge her and was so rude. When I walked out I asked my 8 and 10 year old if they thought she was mean and they both agreed that she seemed extremely unhappy. I thought maybe I was being a Karen so I yelped them and sure enough the lady is notorious for being awful. I got the roll cake here before and it was pretty crumbly and did not taste as fresh. The bread and the pastries are the best go-to here and is cheap compared to most franchises (except 85). The service sometimes feels off as I have been coming here for years. I came here all the time to get bread & cakes for friends, families, and coworkers. Per usual we went in today morning to get some goodies for my family, but the women that was working around 9:30am was very angry and annoyed. There wasn't much bread on display since it just opened an hour ago. Instead of asking us if we needed help she looked upset/annoyed. I carefully asked the lady if they had more bread coming out, and she rudely said "it's going be a long time." I don't know if she was having a bad day but she was super rude, and was talking to us as if she was mad. She didn't even say a full sentence when she said it was going to be a long time. What is that even suppose to mean? Also, I had my dog with me, and she started rudely shouting out "you cannot bring a dog in here." She could have nicely asked us to not bring the dog in and even ask if it was a service dog. Do they not even welcome service dogs here? It put me in a very embarrassing situation since she shouted at me, and I couldn't say anything back since I didn't want to disclose personal health information. It was upsetting, so we just walked out without buying anything. It sucks that people with any type of disability could get discriminated here. I used to be a loyal customer here for over 10 years, and they were always super nice and accomedating, so it was a surprise that this happened to us today. If the owners sees this, please address the issue and fix it instead of upsetting customers away. read more
