10/30/25 Cute (clean & tiny) place at the shops in the corner of South Street & 183rd (I think?) serving up cream puffs that are out of this world! Great service, too! We just had an amazing meal a Peruvian a few doors down & wanted to grab a quick dessert. I've never had Beard Papa's so we tried a few cream puffs, got the minis, 3 vanilla, 3 chocolate- oh so good with the crispy out layer & creamy filling. I loved the vanilla more than the chocolate. Also took home 1 ube fondant (lava) cake for later. It's been sitting in our fridge for 4 days & I decided to finally take the plunge. It's small for (see photo) $8.50 but, boy, did it surprise me!! Popped it in the microwave for 25 seconds & I thought it was going to be "meh". When I stuck a fork in it & out oozed this luscious, deep purple ooey gooey goodness.... WowZaH!!! Magical! My family and I love Beard Papas cream puffs and occasionally stop by for a quick dessert. We've missed the mini cream puffs two times now. The last times we've come in they're sold out and today there was one left. I asked the lady helping us if I could purchase that last mini cream puff and she had a HORRIBLE attitude. She said that they could only sell them in amounts of 6 and that she couldn't sell me that last one. She didn't even say sorry or anything in a nice manner. I understand store policy, but the way she said it was very rude. I also asked for ube filling and she pointed out to "step 2" on the menu and showed those are the only filling they had. I only asked because I saw a flyer posted on their glass. It's unfortunate how much a small business can be impacted by customer service. Beard Papa's in Cerritos is hands down one of my favorite dessert spots. After years of always driving out to the one in Gardena and finding out there is a Cerritos location local to me I had to stop on by and it did NOT disappoint. The cream puff was made fresh to order, so the shell was perfectly light with a pleasant crunch, with different fillings you can choose from and if you're a fan of lighter cream you can definitely ask for 1 pump instead! They also had a great selection of other flavors, which made it hard to choose. The classic vanilla custard is always a safe go-to--rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. The chocolate custard was deep and not overly sweet, and the matcha had a nice earthy flavor that wasn't bitter at all. I also love that you can choose different shells, like the original, or chocolate flavors and other seasonal flavors (Our personal favorite is the Strawberry and the Monster Hunter Wilds Cola flavor collab!) The staff was friendly and efficient, even with a line, and the store was clean and well organized. You can tell they take pride in making everything fresh because nothing tasted soggy or rushed. Beard Papa's does an awesome job with seasonal flavors and collabs, and the Cerritos location consistently delivers, it really drives home the same great flavor as the same Beard Papa's back in Japan! This is such a cute place. I know some people who are absolutely dedicated to cream puffs I found out about this place and had to try it. I ended up going at an odd hour. Nobody was there. One other person came in after me. So I had the staffs full attention. They were asking me how my day was and explaining the flavors and giving me their recommendations. They honestly seemed extremely knowledgeable and so friendly. It's always great when you have hardworking staff like that working for you. I ended up getting a couple different flavors and a regular filled cream puff. Ok, so here's the thing. For desserts, the sweeter the better. These were not very sweet, but I loved the flavor! We found ourselves here due to a collab with Mashle anime. There is no dining space and is strictly a take-out shop. All that being said, it's super cute and adequately decorated for the current collaboration. The server is welcoming, helpful and enthusiastic about the items presented and sold. And the fact that the items are stocked and available is a huge point because we've been to many collabs where things are "sold-out" or just simply unavailable. If you're a cream puffs person, I highly recommend trying this place out. The presentation of the puffs is appealing--they're cutely packaged and colorful. I finally stopped by Beard Papa's the other day and my experience was wonderful! The infamous Crumble Cookies is located right across the shopping plaza and although I've been curious about those controversial cookies, I went with my gut feeling and decided on Beard Papa's as I've been dying to try a good cream puff. I ordered the chocolate fondant and Oreo Puff for myself while my boyfriend opted for a vanilla custard pudding. When we arrived there were a few people in line paying for their pastries. There isn't any seating available and the pastry shop is quaint so this is strictly a grab and go kind of place. The service here was good as the young girl behind the counter helped us out pretty quickly. The chocolate fondant is ultimately a mini chocolate lava cake and the cashier recommended me to microwave it for about 15-20 seconds. It's safe to say it was pretty good. It reminded me of the chocolate lava cakes from Domino's but fluffier. My boyfriend ended up giving me his vanilla custard pudding and it was also quite good. It tasted like a vanilla gelatin with a hint of coffee. The star of the show was most definitely the Oreo Cream Puff. I had the choice of vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate custard filling inside the puff and I opted for chocolate. I hands down give that pastry a 10/10 and wish I ordered a few more as I demolished my Oreo Puff immediately. A compact shop located in the midst of the bustling dining and shopping center located on Gridley and South St. I actually stopped by to try their new Gudetama collaboration puff. Staff was helpful (actually it was such a coincidence - one of them noticed my From Zero Linkin Park shirt and we found out we were both at that same event - he was staffing and I was just an attendant there). The Gudetama Puff ($5) is good like your standard Beard Papa's cream puff. Top is a kind of vanilla frosting shell. The "yolk" part where Gudetama's adorable face resides is a pleasant apricot jelly. The inside is filled with the standard, plain cream filling. It's a little pricey, but I did enjoy my cute treat. read more

It's Filipino American History Month (FAHM) and select Beard Papa's locations are putting out a new Ube Cookies & Cream Puff flavor! This location in Cerritos happened to be one of those locations so I knew I had to stop by to check it out. This spot is located inside a pretty busy plaza with a bit of a hectic parking situation and lots of other food spots. Inside, the shop is on the smaller side with no tables for seating. They have an amazing selection of different cream puffs, eclairs, cookies, drinks and more! Wifey and I ended up getting the Original Puff with Pumpkin Cream, the Ube Cookies & Cream Puff, and the Honey Butter Cream Puff. Everything we had was beyond delicious! We just wish we got more! I stopped by to get a play date dessert. The gentleman was friendly, greeted me upon entry and was helpful. He introduced me to the Cerritos special which is a pre picked package for a discount. I guess that's how you quality control but I can definitely see how it can be time consuming if you have bulk orders or multiple orders back to back. The last time I had Beard Papa's was when they had a location at Main Place Mall! Imagine my surprise when I found out there is one in Cerritos! Naturally, I had to bring my little family along so we could all try it. The store is small with no indoor seating. When you walk inside, immediately you will see the glass case with the different unfilled cream puffs already dipped in their toppings. They have a bunch of topping flavors to choose from, and about 4 cream fillings to choose. I ordered the Oreo cream puff with vanilla cream, my husband had the honey butter filled with chocolate, and our daughter got a strawberry one filled with the fruity peach filling (I think peach passionfruit? Or peach guava; I can't remember). The cashier was friendly but we had very little interaction, basically just ordered and waited a couple minutes for everything to be prepared. No complaints about service, and the process was quick to receive our treats. We sat on a bench outside to eat and everything was good and fresh! I really enjoyed mine and my daughter loved hers. Husband said the chocolate cream filling didn't taste right, so I tried it. It has a bit of a chemical/artificial flavor. Everything other than the chocolate cream filling was delicious. I really like the model of "filled to order" so the outer pastry remains light and "crisp" instead of getting softened by the filling. The cream inside is cold and light. Really refreshing in a way. First time going to a Beard Papa for their signature cream puffs, this location in Cerritos is the closest to our home, and is located in the very busy side strip mall, across the street from Los Cerritos Center. Parking is difficult, but there are spots to be found as long as you are willing to walk a bit. Living in WI for many years, our family has had many different versions of a cream puff, and the product from Beard Papa is pretty good. I loved reading about the history of Beard Papa, from its origin in Osaka, Japan to where it got its name. It's US HQ is located nearby in Torrance, but the mothership continues to be based out of Japan. As for the cream puff itself, the same filling is used: the original receipt from 1999, a combination of whipped cream and vanilla custard cream. They do have a chocolate filling, along with the flavor of the month (Peach for June). None of us are particular fans of custard cream, but the first bite for me was very good. We tried three flavors: original, green tea, and ube ($4.25). The original was smaller in size than the others. The only difference between the green tea and ube was the frosting on top, and the flavor profile wasn't strong enough to make a difference. It is the custard flavor that dominates here. The place was hopping when we came, so had to wait a bit after we placed/paid for our order. But they didn't forget about us, calling out my name after 5 minutes and we were on our way. read more

We ordered the Papas Faves Mixed - 6-Pack: 4 original puffs 1 chocolate 1 mint chip All with vanilla bean custard filling :) They were all delicious, the "puffs" are fresh baked and filled to order with a very tasty custard that is not overly sweet. Even after taking them home to eat after dinner the flavor and texture was great. The two young people working were friendly and helpful with ordering taking time to explain how it all worked. The shop is nice and clean. While yes the shopping center is very busy, I did find a parking spot right in front. Came for the Mashle limited time offer set today. It came with a cute free mini acrylic Mashle stand and 6 cream puffs. Two mashle puffs which was OG cream and whipped cream. Lance which was icy blue colored white chocolate on top of the shell and chocolate filling inside. Fin which a chocolate shell and a stroke of yellow chocolate with chocolate cream inside. Lemon Irvine with a lemon icing shell and strawberry cream with pieces of strawberries which was unexpectedly nice. And lastly Dot which was a strawberry shortcake topping with the same strawberry cream filling. If I bought these 6 separated it would be $32 (two of the creams are extra because of the strawberry cheesecake filling $0.50 each, each shell was $5 except the lemon and strawberry which was $5.50 each) without tax's but since I bought it with the set and stand it was $36. So was the Mashle standee really free? I think not. Also I ordered online on the app and it took 30 minutes of when it would be ready. Of course it all tasted delicious but before buying limited sets see how much it would be separately. read more

This is a tough update to give but after our experience this morning I hope this location's management fixes this before it gets even worse. I visited this location again this morning (Sunday) and ordered 7 puffs. There were 2 other customers ahead of me and 3-4 behind me. There were two young males working this morning and unfortunately, they moved so slow and inefficient. It took them 20 minutes to crank out our order. That was an unreasonable amount of time for something they just needed to pump cream into pastries already baked... Once we did get our order, I was missing a cream puff. Notified the employee of the missing one and he proceeded to give me an attitude as if I did something wrong. No apology, nothing. The other employee confirmed my ordered and he tried giving me my missing puff way across the counter expecting me to reach over for it. Terrible service. It's been a while since I've had Beard Papa's and I was actually craving a puff so I stopped by. It smelled really funny when I walked in. Not sure if it's normal part of the puff baking, or specific to this location. I got the regular puff and the oreo puff. The cream inside was really good; not too sweet. But I really did not like the puff. It was hard and biting into it kind of just pushed all the cream out. It just made for a really messy snack. Prices were fair and the size of the puffs were pretty big. Out of the two I got, I liked the regular one better than the oreo one. The young staff was friendly and the location is great for business, though parking could be a little difficult to find at times. I'd probably come back eventually and give it another try. read more

Went for the grand opening and the line was really long, so we left to go eat lunch and then came back around 12:30pm. It was still an hour total wait time to order and get the cream puffs. For grand opening, they had a limited menu with three options for shells: original, oreo, and chocolate. There was a buy 5 get 1 deal. We got the 6 + an extra cream puff from a coupon for following them on Instagram. Since I had Beard Papa's before, I knew the original was a classic - shell was crispy and filling was creamy without being overly sweet. The one downside is that these cream puffs really need to be eaten on the spot for maximum freshness - I ate another later in the afternoon and the shell was starting to become soft. Overall, storefront was packed for grand opening, but that is to be expected. Hope to try other flavors once they have their full menu! read more
