I love yechon!! Their food is authentic korean food and all of their soups are like what my grandma makes. They are always crowded, for good reason! All of their banchan (side dishes) are so fresh. I've gotten their Seollangtang/oxtail soup before and absolutely loved it. Perfect for when you're sick or just in the mood for soup. Their yukkaejang is amazing, as well as their daegu fish stew! They're all so flavorful and I feel like I'm with my grandparents every time I eat their food. Also, their korean bbq is pretty good. **UPDATE** (still behind on reviews): I went back, but this time, with one friend. We ordered some Korean bbq and cold noodles and OMG... everything was so damn good!! Loved all of it. It was my first time trying the cold noodles; it had an interesting texture that I wasn't used to. It wasn't too heavy on the stomach, so it balanced well with the bbq, rice, and appetizers. The dumplings were meh, so-so. It's ok for a snack. The miso soup was perfectly made for my taste and steaming hot, but the way I like them. Some miso soups in other places aren't hot enough for me. The eel... was phenomenal (though very slippery)! We got a huge plate-ful of eel and after one bite, we knew we'd be destroying that dish within minutes. Idk how to describe the tase except that it was fucking good. After we finished the eel, we were still craving for more that we were wiping up the sauce with lettuce wraps. The food was good. However, no one ever came to clean the table or ask us everything was okay. We were a big party of 6 and a lot of plates on the table. Despite of that when I paid the bill, I left a 15% of tip. The waitress came to me and said the minimum tip is 18% (?) Tip is not mandatory!!! However, as a person who has worked in the service industry, I know they rely on tips so even on poor service I leave 15%. I have NEVER had a server come to me and tell me there is a minimum tip. This is very disrespectful and entitled type of behavior. You want 18% , then serve like you deserve 18%. If there is a minimum tip then why not add gratuity already? I think I was always scared off by the popularity of the restaurant, so I thought I would never be able to get a seat without waiting a long time. Luckily, that was not the case. I went with my friend on a Friday evening and the wait was only like 15 minutes. Food: Mandu - Dumplings came out hot and delicious before the other food. Love some good fried dumplings. Bossam (Pork Belly wrapped in salted cabbage) - Bossam was pretty big for just two people. Possibly could have had a third to feed. I love making Bossam wraps and eating them with garlic, jalapenos, kimchee, and that miso sesame paste. Banchan - spread was pretty good with like 10 side dishes accompanying our meal. Solid place that offers a wide variety of Korean cuisine. Yechon is a great introduction to Korean food, it's not really somewhere that specializes in one thing, but rather an all-rounded place where nothing on the menu will disappoint. Many of the waiting staff wear hanbok (Korean traditional clothing) and a variety of side dishes are also offered for every table. With good customer service and good food. Day or late night, you can expect Yechon to have good food that'll satisfy your hunger for Korean food any time of the day! My favorites are still the same. Galbi dolsot bibimbop!! Yookgaejang! Yechon got really good Korean bbq (galbi)!! They also got spicy japchae, loaded with stir fried veggies and well seasoned. Galbi-tang is also good! Now that it's open again after the quarantine shutdown, it was nice to see that they blocked off part of the parking lot and set up a tent for outdoor seating. Amazing places that offers a variety of Korean and Japanese cuisines in NoVA, I'm honestly still lost in the menu every time I go. I often go with a large group and their Yechon special menu has always been a convenient choice that offers a balanced amount of kbbq and traditional cold/hot Korean dishes (as well as seafood options if you choose to). Since the place doesn't offer AYCE kbbq, I personally think the meat quality is a lot better compared to others for the price. Other than the bbq, also highly recommend their seafood pancake and Mandu Gui (fried dumplings) as appetizers; the qualities are large enough for a big group, and always served hot and juicy to open up your appetite. This place is also open 24 hours. One time I went around 2am with a large group and surprisingly the service was still incredibly fast, and the food quality wasn't compromised at all despite the late hour. Unfortunately I will not be going back here and it was my favorite Korean place in the area for many years. I just went there with my girlfriend and our daughters for a late lunch and was beyond disappointed. I understand that covid has changed a lot within the restaurant operations in general, but this place has no excuse to slip this far. I have dined here over 75 times at least and this experience left me very disgusted. First of all the owners have raised the prices by 60 to 70% across the board and I mostly point this out because having been a chef and owned restaurants I understand this intimately. But the dishes that we had which were usually the standard bears for me had been definitely cheapened with less vegetables overall and the flavoring was not quite what it used to be. The service was horrible and I don't recognize any of the new waitresses as they are all female except for one older Korean lady. There was almost no interaction with them and they acted like we were lucky to be there.... so I did not leave them any gratuity as they seemed ungrateful to be there to serve us..... our $104 was pretty ridiculous for what we got compared to what I am used to getting there.... Also they have devised a stupid scheme whereby they bring you a Costco bottled water and that is all you get unless you want to buy one for a dollar a piece after that.... I was there at Friday dinner time one week ago, The service is no good, when I start eat the food I remember that the server didn't bring the miso soup and The grill is not cook and she want to save time just take out to put in the plate and put another raw steak on the grill, when I want to pack up to go because I love one of the side dish and I don't want to waste food , the server say no side dish to go . For what Yechon is- a 24 hour Korean restaurant with an incredibly large menu, it's always been so consistent and my go-to Korean restaurant for groups. I've been here often over the past 5 years- many a time with friends, dates, and family. Whatever we order, normal operating time or late at night, everything is always well done. The portions are large, perfect for family style sharing, with the exception of stone bowl soup or bibimbaps. Banchan is plentiful and has many varieties, and the kimchi is always up to standard. From the jeongols to the pajeon, japchae to tangsooyuk, grilled meat to bibimbap, I've never had a bad or mediocre experience. They're also good at accomodating for dietary restrictions- also a place great for vegetarians. Sure to be a crowd pleaser or late-night haunt, Yechon is the the perfect place for a wide variety of Korean food. Is it an absolutely mind blowing taste? No, it's better than average and you could certainly find better food at a more specialized Korean restaurant, but the key to Yechon is definitely their consistency with such a large, diverse menu- I can't applaud it enough. read more

You could have a good service or so so... I guess being fluent in Korean always helped. Sorry I digressed. This place kept the same servers for YEARS. Yes YEARS. The floor manager must have done something right to keep them for years. It's not easy by any imagination. This place used to open 24 hrs and male servers served during the night shift but I guess they changed that. Yes I spent my 20s clubbing at night and come to this joint to undo my alcohol toxicity. I now being in 40s, I still come here sit in same table knowing what I need. Now you become Dang-gol (aka repeat customer). When you get to know the server they greet you with smile and know what to order for you. Sometimes they give you special Ban-Chan which is always nice. When it comes to food it's consistent. Not the highest quality food but unless you live in LA this is what you would typically expect. When you take the menu it can be daunting. Pro tip- just order the combo menu in the back. It is much easier rather than trying to pick a dish for everyone. My favorite is Kim-chi chi gae (kimchi casserole). No restaurants can make it better than them. Either they infuse pork fat into this but it has really good feel in the mouth. Not to mention it taste the same since years ago. It's consistent! Their meat dish is good and Pajuhn is ok. Been going here for decades as it is the closest Korean restaurant off 495 and is open 24 hours a day. From my earlier party/clubbing days and eating late night eats (spicy chap chae and dubu kimchi!) to now my more docile family man life, this place is usually very consistent with their food quality with good size portions. Not to mention, there quantity and quality of their banchan is better here than most (love them korean style mashed potatoes!). I usually get their yuk kwe jung(spicy beef soup) or spicy galbitang soup when coming here. Cant go wrong with either dishes. They also have a full sushi counter and a limited Japanese menu (teriyaki and udon soup). If coming here for lunch, they have both korean and sushi bento boxes and a separate korean lunch menu too, that is slightly cheaper than their regular menu. They expanded their parking lot finally! Ample parking for this restaurant now. The servers speak and understand English fairly well too, so good for novice to eating Korean cuisine. One of the top late night Korean restaurants in the Northern Virginia area and a favorite of mine since I was an undergrad in college. You'll notice this restaurant standing out with it's neon sign across from Little River Turnpike. It's a popular late night drunk spot for the young asian crowd. Whatever you decide to order the servers will bring over a plethora of banchan (appetizer side dishes) I recommend the dried baby fish and cold mashed potatoes. For the main dish..the most popular ones are the Korean BBQ entrees such as the galbi and bulgogi. I've always been a fan of the galbi (marinated short ribs) as it is such a juicy and tender piece of meat. In terms of price..it is on the pricier end as a dish averages to be around $20. I know people say there are much better Korean restaurants in Annandale than Yechon but as a late night spot it can't be beat...I prefer it over Honey Pig. The only complaint is the servers here aren't very attentive which seems common among restaurants run by the older Korean population. Their service is really quick and they have a little bell that makes it all move along quicker. Their banchan is really good and they bring out a variety of options. I like their kimchi the best. I got the soondubu and it was pretty decent! It filled me up and the flavoring/spices were there. I do wish it had more seafood since I got that option. Yechon has been my (and a lot of other peeps') go-to Korean place for a while now and you know it when you try to get a seat here on a Saturday, but you wait because you know the service is friendly and attentive and the food is consistent. This time, we got the special galbi (as usual), some sushi , and fish which I think was croaker. The fish was a new dish for me here and it was flavorful and moist. I'd definitely get it again. Amazing- the best Korean place I've eaten while living in the DMV area. Not easily accessible by any metro route so I ubered but it's so worth it. My boyfriend and I ordered an amazing feast - the Yechon Special menu 1 - which consists of Sashimi apps, 2 dumpling soups, Shredded beef-ribs (2), 3 Fried Dumplings. Broiled mackerel, Bean paste pot stew, Gamasot Bop. On top of that we also ordered a soondubu. We were STUFFED by the end of the meal but also so satisfied. The special menus are definitely worth it, especially if you don't know their specialties or want to learn about the Korean cuisine in general.
