A few weeks ago, I stopped by Yellow Basket for breakfast and ordered at the front counter. I had the steak cooked medium-rare with eggs and potatoes. My food arrived in about 15 minutes. The presentation looked great, and the eggs and potatoes were cooked well. Unfortunately, the steak came out medium to almost well-done instead of medium-rare. This was actually my second time ordering the same meal, and both times the steak was not cooked to the temperature I requested. On the positive side, the restaurant was clean and properly staffed. My server checked on me several times and made sure my drink was refilled, which I appreciated. Overall, it was a good dining experience with friendly and attentive service. I just hope the kitchen can improve on cooking steaks to the requested temperature, because everything else was enjoyable. read more

From entering the restaurant you are greeted with friendly smiling faces, to the cleanliness of the dining area with decorative areas according the season. One of the BEST diners in the IE! I've been to Yellow Basket for years, I've tried their burgers, breakfasts, and sandwiches, everything is delicious. I recently came in with my Mom for a nice brunch after a doctor's appointment nearby. I ordered a chili cheese omelette with hash browns and a bottle of orange juice. The omelette was hearty and large, I had a great meal. My meal also came with a couple of slices of wheat toast and butter. Our service was great, we had a friendly, older lady take our order and bring it out to us. She was very polite and brought our food out quickly. The other staff were also quite nice, the dining room was kept clean and we were checked on. Coffee was consistently refilled. Over time, we spotted several individuals popping in for a Friday brunch. It's nice to see Menifee rally around this diner gem! read more

My Family has been eating there since it Opened. My father even used to play golf with the son. They have lost a customer that spends $150 to $200 a month there. I a sad to say that over the last 6 or 8 months the food quality went way down. At first we thought it was a new cook that didn't know what they were doing. Now we know it's not. The food sucks now. They even wanted to charge me 98 cents for ranch dressing for our onion rings. I don't know what happened but the Family definitely isn't running it anymore. read more

Yellow Basket is good. The menu is pretty big. The portions are large. The prices are definitely on the high side. I don't go here often but when I do I never have any complaints. The drive thru runs on the sluggish side because the food is getting made fresh. The soda is usually really good from here with the cute little ice cube pebbles. My favorite! The ranch is usually an extra charge but it's really tasty! The service is usually good. Tipping is optional here if you're paying with a card. read more

Yellow Basket is off the 215fwy off the Newport exit located on the corner of Haun Rd. & Newport Rd. by Texas Roadhouse. Staff I've encountered lately has been amazing. I've tried plenty of their menu items such as their 'Burgers, Breakfast, Pastrami, Salads, Sandwiches, and Asada Burrito'. I've loved it all, EXCEPT their Asada Burrito, which is flavorless filled with too many beans, rice, guac and barely any meat. The restaurant is clean and organized, always decorated, depending on the season. It's always a good meal, but I will stay away from any 'Mexican style' menu items. read more

Stopped by Yellow Basket. It's a classic hamburger stand with big portions at reasonable prices. The burger-fries were fresh, and everything came out quick. It's just your simple no frills burger joint. I just wish they had garden/veggie burgers on the menu. read more

The moment you step inside the door you get hit with the scent of mildew. The staff and regulars must be immune to it by now but it is strong if you're new. This is our very first visit after being in the area for nearly 10 years and wanted to finally give YB a go for some brekkie. We forge ahead and order an Ultimate Breakfast as it seemed like a good deal for the undecided and an Avocado Toast. We find seating in the back to wait for our food. Luckily the mildew scent isn't as strong in the back of the dining room. The food arrives and the Ultimate Breakfast contains all the faves, 3 eggs (cooked to your preference), a couple of bacon strips, sausage links, ham, and a mound of hash browns. Along with two slices of toast and two pancakes. The Avocado Toast is enough to fill you up but I felt they skimped on the actual avocado and were more generous on the toppings to hide that fact. Everything was pretty much on par with diner food, the only real disappointment was the pancakes, which were quite rubbery like they mixed the batter for way too long. I literally needed a knife to slice through them. Service was pleasant and adequate. A lot of their diners seemed to be older seniors and they have a discount menu to accommodate them. Overall, a decent spot for 3 stars but not sure if we'll ever become "regulars" since the stink of mildew (minus 1 star) will likely keep us away. read more

When I moved to the area about 3.5 years ago, the YB was a place to get good portion for a good price. However, pricing has gotten out of control. Especially compared to what is given. My firdt angst was when they raised the price of the breakfast burrito when egg prices went up. Ok. Prices went up for eggs and there was a sign that said once egg prices were down, the price of the burritos with eggs would go back down. That did not happen. Now the burritos with eggs are excessively overpriced for no reason. What drove me to a review today. I was going to fet a breakfast meal, but decided on a sandwich. I ordered the pastrami sandwich. Which BTW, isn't listed with a price in the drive through menu. I dont drink pop so I just wanted the sandwich and the small sized onion rings. These two items came to $26 and change. I was like wait, what?!?! When I asked at the window the sandwich itself comes to $18.22. With the small onion rings $26. $8 dollars for a single order of onion rings!! WHAT! NO. I Ended up just getting the pastrami sandwich since I was in the drive through line. The sandwich DOES NOT look like the one pictured. They put it on a long roll type bread. The bread isn't grilled and crunchy like you'd expect. Would have taken just a few more moments to do so. There is a decent amount of pastrami, but definitely not nearly $18 worth. I'm so disappointed in how jacked up their prices are compared to products size and preparation. Just another resturant I will add to my never ever again list. read more

Service was fast and friendly. Staffy was also welcoming, and showed attention to customers. The restaurant was very clean and orderly well lighted and comfortable seating. Now, We had the Pastrami on a roll sandwich, It was absolutely horrible, so much so we had a few bites and tossed it in the garbage. Long chewy pieces of brisket that tasted like it was frozen, thawed, in a microwave and tossed on a griddle. The bun was completely soggy that it literally fell apart after the first bite. no taste at all and just plain bad. Austin (cashier / reception) was super friendly and competent, in that he clarified customers' orders down to the special details with a smile (there was a small line ahead of me). While briefly waiting to order, I perused the YB brand merchandise display: t-shirts, mugs. I also watched the chefs' working as a team in the kitchen. Amazing. My lunch was delivered by Brian to my table on the wonderful PATIO (mild weather). I was solo out there. The entire establishment was super clean, organized and the staff made me feel like a VIP - even Lucera - who came to check on me, brought me more coffee, cleared my table so I could get a little paperwork done basking in a mellow, patio vibe. I'm conflicted about this establishment. The owner and manager are both genuinely pleasant and professional, and I appreciated their hospitality. However, the restaurant has a noticeable and unpleasant odor, and much of the equipment appears to be coated in grease. This may contribute to the overall decline in food quality, which was unfortunately quite poor during my visit.It's difficult to understand how the business continues to operate at this standard, though it may be sustained by long‑time neighborhood patrons who are accustomed to it and supportive of the staff. I sincerely hope the issues are addressed, as the people running the place seem committed -- but based on the food quality alone, it currently falls short. read more

Great food. I had a breakfast burrito with bacon, egg and cheese, has browns on the side. The eggs were fluffy, the bacon was crisp and the hash browns were crispy but soft inside. We went to meet family and started off with a cup of coffee while waiting. There was no Splenda, only the pink one that causes cancer. They said they got rid of the blue sugar too. So I had mine with just the milk and it was awful. Probably an old pot. And to think coffee is close to $4.00 a cup. Plus, my husband wanted a refill and they never came back until after I went up to the front to ask. But the salad was good. I just wouldn't recommend their coffee. read more

Overpriced and disappointing! I ordered a salad for $17, and it honestly wasn't worth more than $3. The only reason I went through with the order was because I was stuck in the drive-thru. Every time I'm in the area, I say I'm going to visit and I finally did last weekend and oh...my...goodness! First of all, it is so cute inside, very clean and the employees were so nice, friendly and polite. I ordered a patty melt and onion rings with ranch dressing and a Coke. I asked the cashier if they make their ranch dressing (I am a ranch dressing snob) and he said that they do and that it is very good. I have to say, it is the best ranch dressing I have EVER had...way better than any chain or fancy restaurant. I dipped the absolutely perfect onions rings in it. Heaven. I almost asked if I could purchase some to take home. Next time. Come to think of it, the onion rings are the best I have ever had. Super crispy, crunchy and hot...super fresh. Wow. The patty melt was very good...not perfect and to be honest I have had better but still very good. I had to get one of their cookies and was a little disappointed that it was pre-packaged and not fresh but oh...my...goodness, one of the best cookies I have ever had. My mom also got a patty melt so 2 patty melts, onion rings, 1 soda and 1 cookie all for just under $16.00 so, prices are pretty typical for these days. I usually don't leave reviews, but this one deserves it. Every time I go through the Yellow Basket drive-through, the payment screen automatically jumps straight to the tip screen and you have to hit "skip" just to finish paying. It's awkward and uncomfortable. Today I decided to pay cash to avoid that whole situation, but after paying, the cashier actually asked if I wanted my change. The total was already close to $15 for a burger and fries, which is pretty steep, and now I'm being asked if I want my change back? I told her she could keep it, and she replied with a sarcastic "thank you" in a rude tone. Man I love the burgers from here and the zucchini fries are my absolute favorite! I always get the bacon avocado cheeseburger and zucchini with ranch for dipping. The texture of the zucchini is so good, it's like a cornmeal breading that makes them nice a crispy. When i can manage to stray from my favorite I love their huge pastrami sandwich also, definitely a shareable size. The menu is pretty big and they have a variety of different types of food from breakfast to Mexican to fried chicken. It's typical diner type decor inside but they have a drive thru for convenience also. The cashiers are always friendly and it's a fastraunt type situation where you order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. Man I'm craving the zucchini now. read more

We are regulars here and we love the breakfast and coffee. We frequently come here to see our favorite waiter Brian he is VERY attentive and always checks on us and gets everything we need. Brian wasn't here today! We always come see him on Thursday and it's very sad for him not to be here when we normally see him. We hope that he will be here next Thursday so we can catch up. The reason we come here so frequently is the service and it's sad to say, but if Brian and Margo aren't there we might end up having to go to black bear as a replacement. I ate there today and wanted a waffle and orange juice. They don't sell waffles and all they had to drink was soda or hot chocolate. I ended up getting pancakes I asked eggs for soft scramble they came hard. Pancakes were like leather and when they brought my hot chocolate the server had her thumb over the drink spout on the cup. Went looking in my area for breakfast burritos a couple months back. Was surprised Yellow Basket had them and they were pretty good...except the price. $14.69. They were kinda big so going forward my wife and I split one. We both really liked the chorizo. That only lasted a couple more times. The burrito got a little smaller and instead of chorizo we got actual sausage like breakfast sausage links. Figured maybe a mix up. Then this last time same thing except it was like a seasoned hamburger concoction and as the lady was handing it out the drive thru window she was kinda laughing. Definitely felt like something was up as I drove away. Also the hash browns inside were barely cooked. Not waiting for a third strike especially at almost $15 for a breakfast burrito.
