This restaurant goes above and beyond. My husband made a reservation for our anniversary and requested a waterfront view. They greeted us at the door and congratulated on our anniversary and led us to our table. The food is phenomenal. The waitress brought our dessert (crème brûlée) with a candle and lit it for our anniversary. Everything down to the whipped cream was top notch. Not shown is the crab bisque which is the best my husband and I have ever had. The view is also incredible and on the water. Highly recommend and will be returning! read more

What can I say, every time we dine here it is just superb!!! Consistently excellent!!! From the valet parking to your being greeted warmly at the desk. Delicious drinks, flavorful appetizers and bread. Main courses, Mixed Grill and Surf & Turf scrumptious!!! Dessert, homemade eclair, omg!! The smell of the chocolate alone was an experience!! We love Yellow Dog, mainly due to their view and selections. While it's been a while since we've been here, we love that we can have an intimate dinner on the river without a bunch of loud people to ruin your experience. It's a multi level restaurant, inside and out. The staff is courteous, from the valet, host/hostess, and our server. Their is a variety of options, such as seafood, steak, or pasta. We started off with the tuna. It was fantastic. A perfect sized appetizer. Thinly sliced and perfectly seasoned. Then we had the Old Blue salad. Spinach, blueberries, pecans, bleu cheese crumbles, with a blueberry vinaigrette. For my entree, I had the salmon, which was excellent. The sauce was a citrus caramel. Sounds off putting, but I tell you, it was wonderful. Not overly sweet or citrusy. It was balanced. We also opted for a bottle of wine, as they had a decent selection. It paired perfectly with the crème brûlée too. The dessert was wonderful. While the food and service were good, it's not super high end quality like other alike restaurants. read more

Back here after about 18 months. Brought some family and friends together here. Some from Cocoa Beach, Melbourne Beach, St. Petersburg and us from Naples. I recommended a few dishes and showed them my pictures on YELP over the years. When we were seated and began to order, FIVE of the six of us ordered the Onion Encrusted Chicken. I ordered the special....the salmon stuffed with crabmeat and topped with a phenomenal lobster sauce. We also ordered salads, the crab soup which also was loaded and was great. The Tomato Caprese appetizer we also liked although I found the pieces of mozzarella small for the price. Desserts were great as was the strawberry sorbet. Nice to be there and not feel rushed. There two hours and we were grateful to have this time to ourselves. I think we were the last to leave after 3:00pm. (read on) Nothing but great reviews on everything and a great round table on the upper floor near the window with great views of the Indian River. What was an added bonus to our whole experience and reunion here was that our server DALE, who was very professional, very personable and extremely funny and also helpful with the menu choices. We all had a lot of laughs. He was the best. THANK YOU DALE! We all appreciated you and had a great time dining there. Hope to be back sooner. We'll look for you when there again. A lot of laughs. Great service, food & ambiance! The bartender was delightful & such a gentleman. The waiter was informative & personable. Food was fresh & baked goods done in-house as well. We came to Yellow Dog Cafe for the first time today and had the Dinner for Lunch special and it can't be beat. For the appetizer we had the potato pancakes with smoked salmon and salmon mousse, it was exquisite. The main course was the six ounce filet, medium rare. It was perfectly cooked and tender. Dessert was the chocolate brownie with ice cream for me and the profiterole for my wife, both covered with decadent chocolate sauce. I will definitely be back! read more

Outstanding food I had the half portion meatloaf because I just had to see if it was worth the price. Well, it most certainly was. Made with beef tenderloin and smothered with demi glace it was moist, tender and delicious. The entire staff was very friendly and the server was very good at memorizing the menu including an amazing number of off menu daily specials. They have a nice view of the intercoastal on 2 levels and I even got a short video of a shark swimming by. They have free valet parking because of the size of the lot near the entrance. Hadn't been out to dinner in a long while. Went to Yellow Dog last night. We've always loved it and were not disappointed. While my dining buddies had escargot and tuna, I had a filet. We all loved our meals and our server, Taylor. There were little "blips" but that has been the case these days. I wished there had been more blue cheese on the steak, or they forgot it, and it came out not as warm as I like, but the flavor was great. The guys raved about their dishes. We had a party of 10 and he catered to every detail!! Nothing was left to chance and his attention to detail was nothing less than perfection! Our food was impeccable and a feast for the senses!! My son, daughter and myself went for a Birthday dinner. This dinner was Fantastic. The restaurant has a beautiful outside seating area overlooking the river. The food was also amazing and large portions. They have a special going on right now that is called the "dog days of summer"...it's $40 per person and it comes with an appetizer, salad, meal (which we had Fillet Mignon) and a dessert. The fillet was cooked perfect and you could cut it with your fork. We also arrived when it was still happy hour which has $5 select appetizers and different drink specials. Callie was our server. She was amazing, attentive and over all a great personable server. We would recommend this place...especially if you can sit outside for the gorgeous ambience. read more

I'll start with a positive. The food is quite good and the staff very friendly. Most of this review will have more to do with the management/owners. I've been here 3 times in the last 6-7 months. Mostly for work-related meetings etc. Most of our meetings are held in a dining room downstairs. The biggest issue is the constant smell of a musty boys locker room mixed with oversaturated perfume or Febreze. I've literally gotten sick to the point that I had to leave the dining room for fresh air outside because of the pungent perfume smell. (I'm guessing a sort of Febreze concentrate). And I remember it's actually been like this for at least a few years. For a place that seems to pride themselves on being "fine dining", I would appreciate a little effort, at least seem to "appear" like you care about the dining environment. Unacceptable at such prices. So yes, the food is good. Might be great on a cool night dining outside on the patio area in January. However it's barely enjoyable dining in. read more

Uninspired menu, not very well prepared. The conch fritters were tasty, but were hushpuppies - I'm not convinced ours had any conch in them. Escargot were rubbery and flavorless but the butter sauce & puff pastry were very good. Herb bread was good. Ribeye special was ok: steak was undercooked, broccoli and green beans undercooked as well. I found a really good green bean underneath my steak in the end. Mashed potatoes were very good. My friend's corvina was ok but boring. Service was prompt, attentive and vaguely insincere. She offered to return my steak which she could see was very rare rather than med rare as ordered, but I chose not to send it back as I can make it better as leftovers. There was nothing really wrong with the food but it was definitely not special, not worth the trip, and certainly not worth the money. She was very welcoming and informative. She recommended the espresso martini with cream to me because it makes the martini taste less strong and I loved it. She did a great job recommending it to me. We live in Vero, have family in Indialantic, and this is a great inbetween place to meet for lunch, which we did last week. We sat on the patio with beautiful views. Three out of four of us had excellent meals.. one had a pizza, another the fish and puffs, and I had the sloppy dog, that I loved! My husband had a fish sandwich, special of the day, which he said was ok.. a little fishy, but not bad, but would not order again. I love places that have bite size desserts.. which yellow dog had.. We all had a little treat after lunch. All in all food, service and ambiance were very good. The one thing that is a bit confusing about this place is their pet policy. If it is a nice day out, we often bring our medium sized, well behaved dog with us to lunch. He is NOT a service dog.. and we are not ones to pretend he is. If we take him, we make sure the restaurant is pet friendly.. or if we want to go somewhere that is not he stays home. My cousin suggested Yellow Dog because she saw an advertisement in a local magazine stating they were pet friendly, and she knows we often bring the dog. After seeing that she called to verify, and had the name of the person she talked to. We were planning on bringing the pup, but at the last minute didn't. Not seeing any other dogs, we asked our server about their policy, and he said only service dogs with vests are welcome. I totally get some places are pet friendly and some are not.. and that is OK! But if they advertise in a magazine they are pet friendly..there shouldn't be this confusion. read more

Everything was wonderful for our anniversary meal at Yellow Dog Cafe! Our server, Mary, was very welcoming, knowledgable, attentive, and kind. The homemade sourdough bread was warm (perfect with butter); our raspberry mixed greens salad and olde blue spinach salad were fresh and topped with crunchy pumpkin seeds and toasted pecans, respectively; my onion crusted chicken and my husband's potato crusted salmon were delightful; and our shared coconut creme pie in a homemade pastry shell was amazing. Plenty of options on the menu-although the specials are not always available, and the pastry/dessert chef often bakes different breads and an assortment of desserts, so we were fortunate to get a couple of our favorites. It was a lovely setting along the Indian River and our table in the glass-enclosed deck had pleasant views. If it had not been stormy, the oversized sliders could have remained open for more wave-splashing sounds and fresh air. It was quite a nice spot to celebrate 31 years! read more

I could get better food at Gator Joes Beach Bar and Grill located on a lake in the middle of po-dunkville right outside of the ocala national forest. Surprisingly Good A lot of the restaurants in this area that are set on the water have a menu of basic fried food. Yellow Dog is more traditional gourmet. I really, really wanted to love this place with all the great reviews. Sadly, not so much. First, the staff at the door and the servers were all top notch. It's quaint and cozy and of course waterfront. It's also expensive and the food was not very good. We started with a charcuterie that was terribly lacking for $18. Only two kinds of meat and one was no better than store-bought salami. The crostini were delicious but that was about it for accoutrements. Not at all worthy of the price or of a nicer restaurant. Next up with crab bisque that although having a nice taste, was too thick and just clumsy. bAgain, not worthy of a fine-dining restaurant. The Beef Burgundy was nice but unremarkable and served not hot enough so half-way though, I was eating cold meat. And this was the best dish at the table. Others had the salmon which was simply inedible. It was ordered without the sauce, which would have masked its dry toughness but without it, makes you wonder if whoever cooked it really cared or knew how to cook. It was that bad. Also, the Pork Osso Bucco, though tasty, was just on the other side of being dry. Unremarkable yet terribly expensive. The homemade chips were slathered in over-powering bleu cheese. The corn fritters were unremarkable. I'm nit sure if I will give them another shot because that shot is VERY expensive ($200 for two with tip and three glass if wine. Based on the totality of this meal, and its exorbitant cost, YDC clearly needs to up its game or its really relying on a reputation previously earned. read more
