To start, we ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer. It came out with our dinners so we sent it back. I've never heard of a Mexican restaurant not offering free chips and salsa. They got our order wrong three times and couldnt have cared less. The waitress didn't seem to understand what we were ordering even though we were ordering off of the menus we were given. Six of the eight dinners came out together and then they forgot about two of them. Then they brought one of the two remaining dinners out, completely oblivious that they were short one dinner. We barely received any apology. No free chips, nothing discounted. The bill took at least 30 minutes after we requested it. I'd stay far away. There are many better places on the island! I was here for drinks and dancing Labor Day weekend. The drinks were super strong. The mudslide I had here was not as thick because the enormous amount of alcohol prevented it from freezing. For the mood we were in, this is not a complaint. The band playing that night was the Wicked Peach, a 90s cover band. They were excellent. Around 11 it really started to get packed though and there was some pushing, shoving, and lots of very drunk people, resulted in some bouncers running through to the stage a few times and the band being asked to stop playing for a little bit while things were sorted out. Came during the day and ate outside on the deck. Prices were reasonable for the block. Server was nice and attentive and it wasn't very crowded. Very large inside with pool tables, etc. I would imagine this place is a horror show at night packed with meatheads and skanks read more

Used to be my favorite place on Block Island ! Perfect location to go after a long day at the beach for an ice cold mudslide . Today is my 30th birthday and my husband brought myself and our dogs to Block island for the weekend . The first thing I wanted was a mudslide from Yellow Kittens .... needless to say we got turned away from an empty deck Bc we brought our dogs. Keep in mind they are very mellow and lazy and well behaved . They quietly sat at our feet , the waitress came over and we ordered my birthday mudslide..... she came back and asked us for "service certificates" for the dogs or else we would have to leave. I've been coming to block island literally my entire life and I know that Every other restaurant with a deck on this island allows dogs outside on the deck . Im upset and saddened that they just didn't want our service today . Everyone go to the Oar! They have much better mudslides which I got to enjoy on my birthday with my pups ! read more

Went there on 8-28 after a wedding reception around 10:30 pm. Place was packed with people smoking and vaping on the deck. A female friend of ours got kicked out for using the Men's bathroom by the night manager. When I approached him to ask why and suggest he may have overreacted, he got completely aggressive with me and stated that we don't allow women to use the Men's restroom because we don't want them to potentially get raped! I told him he was a complete idiot if that was the reason and that they had bigger issues if that was their rule. I was completely sober( no longer drink due to medical issues) and the night manager got pissed off and flagged a State Police (another red flag) that was parked across the street and had me escorted from the bar. I am also contacting the RI Liquor Board and letting them know about the "rape" comment along with the Block Island Township. Owners should think long and hard about having a night manager who does not know how to handle issues without being aggressive and petty when providing negative feedback. read more

Stopped for an app and some drinks. Got seated outside very quickly for a busy summer day. We had the half order of nachos with chicken which was really good. Service was eh, our waitress didn't come back to check on us very much - we had to flag her down a few times but we weren't in a rush so we were unbothered. Would definitely go back and try some other things on the menu. read more

Let's set expectations - this is not a place for a gastronomic experience, it's a beach bar. That said, the nachos are the best you'll have anywhere. All ingredients are fresh, the brisket topping is out of this world. In Manhattan they'd be 30 bucks. Servings are large, pace your self. read more

This is the most fun bar on block island. Not only is the atmosphere fun, the food is delicious. Ordered 3 soft tacos, two pork and one chicken, and they were very tasty. Annie the bartender is the best. My boyfriend and I went back to the yellow kitten two days in a row because of her. If you are looking for a good time, head to the yellow kitten. A great place to go out for a night of dancing. The bar was hoping and the band played lots of fun covers. They were really good and very energetic. I found the crowd to be slightly happier and less aggressive than at Cpt Nick's. read more

Reggae nite on Sunday. Nothing but fun. $5 cover for the tourist and if the bouncer knows you than you can skate on in. The only issue I can see is that the fun has to stop when the bar closes. read more

Worst lobster quesadilla in my life -- lobster overlooked & so tough it was indelible and So greasy. Up until last year they served the best lobster quesadilla anywhere. The "Rojo" red hot sauce was neither. What it was is mushy pica de gallo. The other 2 salsas were pretty bland also. However, The chips were fabulous and The frozen margarita respectable, and I still love the view. That's why 3 instead of 1 star. read more

Drinks were good, but the food very disappointing - never imagined rice and beans (one of the 3 side choices) could be so insipid! How can you screw up rice? It tasted like it was made days ago, soggy and totally devoid of flavor, even when salt and salsa was added, it was barely edible. We have eaten here many times, and always liked it, but today, Aug. 29, 2012 it was just plain bad. For such a limited menu, the food should be a Lot better. The poor quality probably explains why at shortly after noon we were one of only 2 tables there. Much better choices available. read more
