We walked in my first impression was that it was the first noodle place that wasn't so loud, compared to the other Vietnamese restaurants I tried. My husband and I were craving pho and decided to try this place out. It's in a little area right after the S Decatur and spring mountain intersection. We both ordered their steak and meatball pho. Although I was whopping they had more pho options. It was some good tasting pho. The egg rolls were great. The passion fruit drink was a great mix. Yen Viet Kitchen - My New Favorite Vietnamese Spot This little hole-in-the-wall has quickly become my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town. The food here is some of the most authentic I've had--made by Vietnamese cooks who clearly know what they're doing. Service is quick, but that's partly because the restaurant is usually on the quieter side. My top picks are the Bánh Canh and Bột Chiên. The bột chiên is perfectly crunchy with a light, balanced sauce--not overwhelming like many versions I've tried elsewhere. The bánh canh broth is thick, flavorful, and loaded with crab meat, easily outshining what you'd find at most pho places. The shop itself is small with a very typical Vietnamese-restaurant vibe. For my birthday I asked my husband to take me here for breakfast so I could try their fresh made banh cuon. It was very good! I finally got to try this place out! I always see it but never got the chance to check it out till now. I came here to try out my all time fave Vietnamese dish banh cuon. (Didn't get a photo of it unfortunately only the banh xeo bc I demolished it quickly lol) To start off, the service was ok. When our food arrived, they gave us 2 banh cuon, no banh xeo, and my friend's soup. Which we only ordered one banh cuon, one banh xeo, and the soup. But thankfully she fixed our orders when I let her know it was one banh cuon and banh xeo not 2. Reviewing the food part, it was very good. My banh cuon came first before the banh xeo and I ate it up so fast lol. What I really liked was their chili oil or paste or sauce? Whichever it was hahaha but it was hotttttttt. Ate lunch here on my last visit to Vegas. Lots of parking. As i entered, I noted that the place was very clean, and nicely laid out. I was the only customer, on a Thursday just after noon. I ordered the spring rolls and the lotus salad. The spring rolls were large, and could be a meal in itself. They had both pork and shrimp inside. The peanut sauce had what appeared to be crispy onion bits and peanut halves on top. The sauce itself had a hint of, I believe, cinnamon. The sauce went well with the spring rolls. This was the first time I've had lotus salad. It too came with peanuts and crispy onion bits on top. And it had shrimp and pork. The lotus part of the salad is the stem. They were pickled in vietnamese sauce. You did not need any more sauce, although it came with extra. It also came with a side of shrimp chips. I enjoyed both the spring rolls and salad. The salad was flavorful and firm. My server, probably one of the owners, was very attentive. I'll definitely be eating here again. read more

This place is easy to miss since it is next to a big plaza full of other asian restaurants and oneof the major Asian Markets (SF Market or Thuận Phát), same plaza as Tous Le Jours, 888 bbq, Specialty Noodles. The place is cute and small but flavors are big here! The decor is simple, cute and down to earth. Not over the top with busy decoration like some Vietnamese restaurants. They do have stacks of boxes near the bathroom though and if that's cleared out, it would probably look better. But anyhoo, it wasn't overly chaotic, so we overlooked that since space is limited, I am sure. We ordered the following: 1. Bánh Xèo: the crepe is flavorful and you can really taste the coconut in it, making it very rich. The shrimp, pork and bean sprouts are added to the crepe. I wished the pork and shrimp were incorporated into the batter (the way it is made traditionally) but the flavors were good, fresh and tasty. I rate it an 8 out of 10. 2. Bánh canh (udon noodle soup): My wife liked this and I thought it was better than most places. The udon noodles were soft but not mushy. The broth is flavorful. The protein were good and the ratio of noodles to broth were just perfect she said. She gave it an 8 out of 10. 3. Bún (Vermicelli) with eggrolls and nem nướng: The flavor of the eggrolls were great and thênm nướng was on the sweet side (southerners make them sweeter). The ratio of all the herbs, noodles, proteins, roasted peanuts and fried shallots were all good. A solid 8 out of 10. Their fish sauce (nước mắm) is good but more on the southern which tends to be more sweet side for my preference but still good once I added the fresh chilis and siracha. Overall, a solid place for good Vietnamese food. Their menu is limited and I saw a couple of dishes that I hadn't seen at other Vietnamese restaurants which I will try next time. We were greeted immediately and the lady owner is very kind and hospitable. The restaurant was moderately busy and clean. We sat in the back and immediately were served water but it tasted unfiltered which was not great. I ordered a passion fruit juice, which was lovely and fresh. We then ordered the Mi quang chicken soup and crispy egg rolls and the all meat soup called Pho Dac Biet. The crispy egg rolls paired nicely with the dipping fish sauce but the meat did not have an overwhelming flavor. The turmeric in the quang soup was as great! And the flat noodles were fresh and tasty. I would order it again. The beef noodle soup was okay. It lacked some flavor in the broth and I was not a fan of the meatballs but the meat was very good. Bun rue (I probably misspelled it) was perfect! Best one I've had! So rich in flavors and they are very generous with the meats. This hearty, well-balanced umami dish is so satisfying and kept me very full for several hours later. My husband had the old fashioned soup called "pho" and he liked it as well. Believe some of the hype. Yen Viet Kitchen - styled as YEN, but pronounced more like ien and probably a common Vietnamese female first name if you add the proper accent marks - is a little spot just off Spring Mountain which some have called the best Vietnamese food in town. I finally accepted the challenge today and stopped by in the dead of afternoon. We started with some apps, which should more properly be labeled shareables due to portioning. The Nem Nuong Cuon ($9.00) are oversized versions of this spring roll variant - think spider roll diameter as opposed to normal sushi rolls - and are therefore a bit unwieldy to insert into the mouth hole. However, the pork is served blisteringly hot and the overall flavors of the dish and the sauce are on point. I loved both the vinegary carrot and daikon and the crispy shell in the filling. The Banh Khot ($16.00) are a star dish here. "Mini savory pancakes" are a simplistic and insufficient description of these morsels which are coconutty, both soft and crisp, and each topped with perfectly cooked shrimp. The fish sauce for either dipping or ladling is essential for adding salt and umami, and the lettuce (usable as a wrap), mint, and pickled carrot and daikon are essentially for freshness and more flavors. The Bun Mang Ga ($16.00) is a rather unique noodle soup that's full of bamboo flavor. The chicken served with it is actually an authentic "walking chicken" that is more chewy than you might expect from a typical chicken preparation. The ginger sauce served on the side is very potent and adds a fun kick. It's a good rendition. The Banh Cuon ($16.00) is a little bit schizophrenic. The minced pork rolls are solid but could have used fresher rice sheets and more wood ear mushroom. The three different pork roll preparations are not typical for the dish, and the slices could have been further halved. The bean sprouts, cucumbers, crispy shallots, and fragrant greens were all typical and fresh enough though. One of my pet peeves is oversteeping tea, and the Iced Jasmine Tea ($2.00) had just a bit too much of that distinctive bitterness in it which you can't have. I would have been more generous with my rating otherwise. I will say that Yen Viet Kitchen seems to be a very solid Vietnamese restaurant that can execute a variety of non-pho dishes, which is what I have been hoping for in the Las Vegas scene for a long time. You'll definitely find better and/or cheaper in Orange County, but this is a must-try spot for anyone over here who likes Vietnamese food or wants to try something new. read more
