911, Philly Roll, Eel Avocado Hand Roll

My friend recommended this spot to me so we went for dinner the other night. It will now be one of my go to's! Nestled inconspicuously in a strip mall, Mr. Sushi & Mrs. Roll offers a great atmosphere and delicious food for a reasonable price! I ordered the 911 speciality roll, Philly maki roll and Eel Avocado maki roll. They were all fantastic. All of the fish was fresh and had great flavor. The smoked salmon on the Philly roll was particularly good. The service was outstanding. I will be back.

We were interested in trying Mr. Sushi & Mrs. Roll, but the nearest one, at the time, was in Lansdowne, and parking there wasn't always easy. Then, recently, we discovered that there was one in Ashburn. This past Saturday, we gave them a try. We arrived around 5 p.m., and at that time, only one other person was sitting at a table. Our server greeted us with a smile as she took us to our table. After looking at the menu, we both decided to get Mr. Sushi's 12-piece dinner, which consists of: "chef's choice of sushi (or sashimi) plus a choice of a California roll or a spicy tuna roll." There was a photo in the menu that was next to the description. The photo had us thinking it was the right amount of food for each of us. The dinner comes with miso soup. Well...were we surprised! We both chose the sushi, which consisted of nigiri. The slices of fish were quite large. There was tuna, salmon, shrimp, and some unidentified white fish. All the fish were very fresh. The spicy tuna roll was indeed spicy. However, some pieces were mildly spiced while others had too much spice. My husband liked his California roll. A generous amount of ginger was given, as well as a generous amount of wasabi. As for the miso soup, it arrived at the table piping hot and had a good flavor. We were stuffed! Next time, we'll order the smaller portion of this meal. We'll be back. The service was excellent -- attentive without being overbearing. When we left, the employees thanked us for coming!

My friend and I ordered through Uber Eats and the meal was very delicious!! my friend ordered the California rolls and the tempura shrimp rolls and I ordered the Shoyu Ramen along with the calamari salad. I also ordered one shrimp tempura, which was so delicious! Everything was delicious!! The Uber driver served us very quickly!! We will definitely be ordering from here again!!

This is prob my new fav sushi place. I've tried the one in Leesburg once ages ago. This Ashburn location has more inviting vibe, a lot more spacious. Excellent sushi, sashimi, appetizer, nice ramen too. It is definitely worth a drive to eat here. I wished they open nearby in MD in the future.

Pretty good spot for reasonably priced sushi. We came in around lunchtime on a weekday and found the place to be about half full. Seems to be more of a lunchtime spot as far as ambiance goes. We both had the lunch sushi combos and left satisfied. Enjoy

I am super excited that Mr. and Mrs, opened a larger location just down the street from our home. Although the Lansdowne one was nice, it was tiny. This new location can host large groups because they have multiple tables. They have giant TVs throughout the restaurant and a large sushi bar. Food: I love the bento boxes and the fried tempura appetizers. This is my go-to at the Mr's house. Their tempura is flaky and light, oh so perfect. I also think their menu has more ramen and other Korean food options. Service is always nice. Staff refills waters and seats you quickly.

I love this restaurant! Be prepared to return every week to try all the different options! One visit and I was hooked! Really nice service and really good food! Always quality! For the record I visit both locations and this post applies to both as far as my opinion! Five stars.

A much better restaurant than their other location in Landsdowne. Superb food, fast service, fresh fish, and I was served the largest hamachi kama ever! Moist, tender, and so full of flavor that it needed no sauce. Highly recommend this place!

Just opened. I always have lower expectations in the beginning but it was a well oiled machine. Service was good. Greater at the door. Place was clean and organized. Food: better than expected! Sushi pieces were large , fresh and tasty. Very extensive menu ( look online). I posted the lunch special because it was not online. Prices are good for this type of restaurant. Bottom line: If they stay like this, it will succeed in this location. I will be back again and again.

Went on a Wednesday night for dinner pretty early around 5:30pm which wasn't busy so we didn't have to wait for a table. The wait staff were welcoming and attentive. I had the lion king and spicy salmon rolls which both tasted very fresh and had great flavor. I would definitely go back to try some of the other dishes they offer. Love having a new nearby sushi option.

I travel from Atlanta to VA once a month for business and will door dash Mr and Mrs Roll 1-2 times during my visit. The sushi is always fresh and tasty and never disappoints. And the presentation of the food is always beautiful and inviting. You can tell they take pride in preparing meals for their customers. My staples are the sunomono and the Mr Sushi deluxe, which is a large enough for two people or you can save the leftovers to enjoy later. I am looking forward to my next M&M Roll meal in January.

Our waiter did a great job presenting our drinks and pouring the matcha lemonade. He made thoughtful recommendations and was very funny too. The food also was high quality and moderately priced. The miso eggplant was a nice sized appetizer for sharing and was seasoned nicely. The chicken ramen was also the perfect amount of spicy, had a good ratio of noodles to broth to vegetables, and was presented well. The dishes paired well with the matcha lemonade, which was aesthetically presented, had a subtle sweet lychee flavor, and was perfectly balanced. I've been to other Jinya's and this experience matched the quality and service of the other times. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you're craving ramen!

Spicy Chicken Miso Ramen Dinner as I came at 3 PM which was a little after the dinner hours. It was pretty good. Overall, it was pretty tasty. Nothing outstanding, but maybe my taste buds weren't functioning. It was not bad overall, and was filling as I hadn't a proper breakfast even. I would rate it 7/10. Not bad, and the cost for dine-in was a little over $20, which wasn't bad but not cheap either. For the service, I'll give it a pass. A lot of the NoVA hibachi spots aren't open for lunch on the weekends. We chose Sakura Grill because it was one of the few that were. We came for a Sunday lunch and it was nearly empty. Service was pleasant, but the hibachi chef did the bare minimum. We started with a couple appetizers - the crab rangoons, takoyaki, and an eel roll. All were satisfactory and brought out quickly, but noticeably absent from the takoyaki were the bonito flakes. I will commend the restaurant for being mindful of dietary restrictions. We had someone in our party who requested no onions in their hibachi, and the chef was able to accommodate without any issues. We also had someone who ordered the vegetable hibachi, and the staff asked whether that diner was a vegetarian and advised that the hibachi meals came with shrimp. Another plus was that they had a sink in the dining area to wash your hands. As for the hibachi presentation, the chef lit the grill on fire, spun the spatulas around at the intro, tossed the egg up and down a few times, did the onion volcano (though poorly executed), and attempted to throw a piece of zucchini into our mouths. There was an option for a sake shot from a squeeze bottle, but we all declined. The chef relied on a few gimmicks - a silly squirt bottle and a clucking rubber chicken. He didn't have a lot of showmanship or pizazz or any wow factor. The chef wasn't very engaging - he might as well have cooked the food in the back kitchen. This was my brother-in-law's first time at a hibachi restaurant, but the lack of razzle-dazzle in the cooking did not impress and left something to be desired. I ordered the filet mignon hibachi. Each hibachi meal comes with a small house salad and hibachi soup (mushroom based broth with fried onions). You can also swap out for the miso soup, if you like. The filet mignon was nice and tender. I could've done with more flavor, but I guess that's what the dipping sauces are for. One of my favorite things about going to a hibachi place is the fried rice. This fried rice was average, and the veggies were also average... everything was average. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff were kind enough to sing happy birthday twice - once from the hibachi chef with the onion volcano and once from the waitstaff with a festive drum and tambourine. I will credit the waitstaff for providing effective service, but the food and hibachi experience were pretty mid overall.

However, they do a good takeout business, as we noticed several people come in to pick up their orders. Before coming here, we looked at their menu. Thus, we knew what we wanted when we got here. Service was great. The staff here is friendly and efficient. Our server checked on us more than once during our meal. To drink, my husband ordered a Kirin Light beer while I ordered a glass of plum wine. Some Japanese places fill the glass too high, but here, the portion size was reasonable. I ordered "the poke bowl". I chose salmon for my fish. This bowl consists of "Sushi-grade fish topped with vegetables, mixed with poke sauce over a choice of mixed greens or rice". I chose the rice. Before coming here, I looked up "poke sauce." I found a website called "pokebowlny.com." This is the description they gave: "traditional poke sauce blends soy sauce, sesame oil, and often rice vinegar, along with aromatics like garlic and ginger. This classic combination makes the fish taste fresher, the vegetables more vibrant, and the rice more flavorful." The vegetables in the bowl were kernel corn, seaweed salad, and cucumbers. I really enjoyed having this meal! All the flavors worked well together. I look forward to having it again. Along with the poke bowl, a bowl of miso soup is included. That, too, was quite good, and it came to the table quite warm. My husband ordered "Tuna Don," which consists of "fresh tuna sashimi over rice & vegetables. His entrée came with both miso soup and a small side salad. The bowl had a big slice of radish, some seaweed salad, and the usual shredded daikon. The wasabi was really spicy - he could feel it in his nose and sinus cavity - it'll take your head off. The generous portion of tuna was large with thicker slices than he'd ever seen before.

We walked in for lunch and it was busy, 10+ tables. It took a minute to be seated, no big deal, but we noticed immediately that the man seating us was also the ONLY employee on the floor. We watched as he made drinks, boba, pulled cases of Coke behind the counter, refilled water, and some 10 minutes later, finally made it over to take our order. We were very leery, but another employee suddenly appeared out of the back with the table settings and we were assured it was fine. We order and it takes about 10 more minutes just to get the broth. That starts BOILING before any of the meats, vegetables, or other items are delivered to the table. By this point we haven't eaten anything other than the complimentary peanuts and cucumbers, and we've been there a half-hour. My son's chicken arrives soon thereafter, and we finally receive the hot pot stuff. And that's the last we saw of the service team until he brought the check nearly 30 minutes later. We tried waving him down for refills, the other employee walked by and asked if we wanted a refill on the broths and then forgot about us. For an all-you-can-eat hot pot place, they sure can save a ton of money by never refilling your items, drinks, or broth. He brought out the check at nearly an hour later and I asked why he hadn't offered me a refill for any of the hot pot items. He apologized and then asked if I would be paying via card. I used the reward dollars we'd saved from previous visits because we don't think we'll be returning. Literally, absolutely zero inclination to serve us more food or even acknowledge that we were still hungry and hadn't seen him or any other staff after the initial table set. I removed the defaulted 22% tip HE selected on the credit card reader he brought to the table and asked for the manager. He said he'd be back, then disappeared to the kitchen immediately and didn't return for the 10 minutes we decided to wait. Another customer asked us if we'd visited before, and we told them we were monthly visitors, but this would likely be our last time. Another employee we hadn't seen the entire time we'd been there came to bus the table and we asked her if there were problems. She told us she couldn't talk about it, then hurried off to the back without even finishing our table. Most likely they were at least watching her, and would retaliate if she said anything out of line. A group walking in heard me complaining as we walked out, stopped me to ask what happened, then followed us back out the door. Can't recommend them anymore. Not sure what happened in the month since we were last there, but it's apparent it's not being managed actively. Short staffed is one issue, being poorly staffed by employees who don't care is a larger problem. Maybe new ownership and management is needed, if it continues like this, the corner will be vacant before too long. Sad, because this was a good place without having to drive to Falls Church. They could've cornered the market here in Ashburn.

I would say that Sense of Thai St. has become a neighborhood staple and stands strong among the other great Thai places in the area. Definitely has improved and remained steady over the years. The service is always top-notch, and the bar with limited kitchen options stays open late as one of the only late-night options in that immediate area, which is nice after a big gym session in the evenings. I still think the prices are a little hard to swallow for the portion sizes in terms of how much actual protein you get with any one dish. But it's undeniable how perfectly balanced the flavors and spices are, and the menu is always evolving with a very wide range of Asian fusion and traditional Thai dishes.
