Overall, I was not impressed. Service felt very rushed, despite the restaurant being mostly empty. The server came back multiple times within a few minutes to see if we were ready to order, which made me feel stressed/pressured to order immediately. As for the food, it was good, but since I had heard really good things about this place, I expected more. It did taste good, however it wasn't my favorite tacos ever. Seems like a nice place to come for a drink, especially sitting outside during the warmer months. Hopefully my rushed service was just a one time thing.

Came in again today and tried the Pozole Verde de Pollo and Allende Combo. They were both pretty decent, definitely recommend adding the side accoutrements to the pozole to add some extra flavor.

    Smashed the food!

First rate service and food. My son loved his steak burrito and I had the Conchinta Pibil which was outstanding. We ended the meal with the Tres Leches dessert. We'll be back for sure.

6:00 pm reservations on a Saturday night. Seated right on time. Great outdoor seating area, but we chose to sit inside. We were sat directly under an air conditioning vent, which blasted cold air directly on to our table. This was not ideal, but we all just put on our sweatshirts/jackets. I suppose we could have asked to be moved, but I hate making a scene of any kind in a restaurant. Service was very good. Ara was very pleasant, kept our drinks refilled, checked back, cleared plates immediately. She did seem a little put off when I requested more chips and salsa, but she did bring them promptly, Speaking of chips and salsa, they are complimentary, and were delivered as soon as we sat down. The chips were warm, but nothing special. The salsa , on the other hand, was amazing! Not spicy at all, but super fresh...full of flavor...tomatoes tasted like they had just been picked fresh from the garden. Amazing! Food came lightening fast, and was possibly the best Mexican food I've had. Portions were generous. I had a burrito ranchero with grilled chicken. Tons of moist grilled chicken, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, sour cream, topped with their salsa and melted cheese. All the cold ingredients brought down the temperature of the burrito, but this is pretty common with burritos. Hubby had steak tacos. Three flour tortillas packed with tender steak, and the usual taco toppings. Got a big thumbs up, but again food was not super hot. Our friends had a chimichanga, and a combination plate. Both were very pleased with their food. Best compliment I can give is between the four of us, there wasn't a single bite left on anyone's plate. Staff was very friendly. Great greeting, and a round of thank yous and goodbyes when we left. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Their margaritas were strong. The couple of times that I have been here, I've concluded that their margaritas are not to be taken lightly ;) The first time I've tried Yerbabuena, we were seated on the second floor dining area. The service was friendly and efficient. The place was neat and the vibe was lively. I liked the STEAK FAJITAS that I ordered. There was a lot of meat and the dish was cooked well. I also tried the CHICKEN TEQUILA DIABLO. That dish was spicy, and it was delicious. The second visit was with a group of 6, on a Saturday night and we were seated on the first floor dining area. I had STEAK TACOS-CHUY STYLE. One order came with 3 pieces and they were good sized tacos. The steak was seasoned and cooked well again. The rice and beans that came with the tacos were also tasty. My friends were satisfied with their dishes and drinks. The service was pretty slow though. Maybe because it was a busy night. Overall, I liked the variety of food on the menu. I'll try something else besides a steak dish next time. The bathrooms were clean and the place was fun for a date night or group gathering. Til next time! P.S. Call the restaurant to make reservations. They do not have online reservations available.

Yerbabuena is so cute and really aesthetic. The inside is really neat and well put together. The outdoor patio is gorgeous as well and looks out over Main Street, I would definitely enjoy a margarita out there in the summer. The food was subpar. The soup we had was really flavorful. The elotes had great flavor but the portion size was extremely small. The salmon that our waiter recommended to us was just okay. I'm not sure if I would try the food again the service was really nice and fast. They were really nice to talk to. The owner of the restaurant even talked to us for a while and gave us free shots of tequila which was really nice.

Fat shamers. When I asked if the strawberry margarita had salt or sugar on the rim I was told "no sugar, you need to go on a diet".

We spilt the NWB Trio appetizer which was a selection of hummus, olive tapenade and corn guacamole, fresh veggies and grilled pita. Definitely big enough for 4 people. Their menu offers Mac n cheese, Gourmet Burgers,Wraps,Sandwiches and Salads. I had the NWB Burger which was an 8 oz burger topped with pork belly, cheese curds, whiskey bbq sauce on a pretzel bun. Absolutely delicious! My wife had The Gobbler (GF) with a Turkey burger, avocado, goat cheese, roasted red pepper sauce on a GF bun. She loved it and they only charged an extra 1.00 for the GF bun. Service was quick and the staff members were friendly. After ordering everything was ready to be picked up at the counter window within 10 minutes. I tried the 302 burger and asked it to be cooked super well done. It was very good and the schlick sauce really brings everything together. The tater tots are pretty average. Nothing special, I'd still get them again though. I also tried an Oreo shake which was pretty good too. It was thiccccck and creamy. A smash burger with pepperjack cheese, pickle, & their schlick sauce. The burger was not dry & it the perfect amount. I also got the tots Wheaton style (grilled onion & schlick sauce). It was a little on the greasy side, but I get it....its expected. Duh. It was fine. Not overly greased. I ordered their seasonal milkshake which was peppermint. It was good! Nice that they still have peppermint on their menu still. My only issue was that there was a hole in the cup & it leaked pretty fast. I had to ask for another cup to put it in. THE USUAL SUSPECTS…read more This dive bar in Lisle is a haven for townies, which is certainly a vibe. Maple Ave Pub is, unsurprisingly, on Maple Ave just west of Route 53 in the western suburbs of Chicago. I'd estimate I've stopped here close to a dozen times, although a handful of those instances I neglected to check-in on Yelp for fear of my wife seeing it ("I thought you were coming straight home from work....") An older woman's been behind the counter seemingly every time, taking drink orders and making small talk. She's friendly--moreso with the locals than with me--and I'll occasionally get called 'hun', 'sweetie', etc, which is endearing. I got way better service from the hot tattooed barkeeps at Brauer House in Lombard, however. To be perfectly honest, I've never eaten anything here. The wings look like they might pass muster, though there's a few items that raise an eyebrow (clam chowder at a dive bar? thanks, I'll pass). Possum Pub in Melrose Park had surprisingly good food, and it was a major dive, so perhaps I ought to give the grub here a shot sometime. They have several pool tables, a Big Buck Hunter, Golden Tee, dart board, boxing machine, and pair of pinball machines; as of 6/19/24 they've got a Star Trek premium (Stern, 2013) and JAWS (Stern, 2024). In the past they had Oktoberfest (American Pinball, 2018), Fish Tales (Williams, 1992), and a stunning Circus Voltaire (Bally, 1997). Last week, the A/C wasn't working so this place was SWELTERING on one of the hottest days of the year. Normally I stick around for a couple pints and 2-3 games of pinball, but it was so toasty inside (worse than outside) I only played 1 game and skipped the beer completely. There were no fans on, either. * TL;DR * Dive bars are all well and good, but maybe it's time I found a new spot to hit up for a cheap domestic pint. Over the years I've gotten a handful of looks that can be described as quizzical at best, and dirty at worst. I've been ignored by the bartender numerous times--with cash in hand, mind you--while she's chatting away with regulars, as I'm standing there absolutely parched. I want to like Maple Ave Pub, but the feeling doesn't seem mutual. If it weren't for the pinball tables, I probably wouldn't return.

The spetzel so-so, not much flavor. Son liked it though. The bread dumplings ok. More like white bread. The big pork shank that is the prize-it was good but not as stellar as we thought it would be. And we did make sure to order it crispy like it said to and it wasn't. Looked like it was a little browned but even my young son said the fat isn't rendered. I think it would have been a lot better if it had been crispy like in other pictures on here. Disappointed. It's like $35. Not cheap. The beef with sauce (sauerbraten) was good, the sauce great, the beef ok. The special that was going on, the beef roulade. Nobody liked it at all. The stuff just didn't taste good together in it. Overall, it was a good experience. The waitress Rosie was amazing, most of the food was great to awesome. The ambiance was German and cozy.
