Yeti, located in the little plaza outside Baskin Robins. I've been to Yeti for dinner and the food tastes quite good. This is one of the better Indian restaurants in Davis for dinner, but it's a bit pricier. Dishes I'd recommend are the chicken masala and the saag. Naan is essential for a complete Indian meal and the naan at yeti is high quality. Interior is nice and service is friendly. Moderate prices, so I usually stick to Indian lunch buffets. What an amazing find! My brother & I went yesterday, UCD alums after decades to our old pads, roaming around town and found this gem of a Nepalese - Indian restaurant for lunch!! We sat outside on a hot day but lovely shaded umbrellas, with breeze was wonderful! excellent very friendly attentive service. Food was delicious .. divine (coming from Indians who are foodies :) ! Ordered mix of both cuisines - vegetable platter was wow so much food with delish mamosas, pakoras, samosas, chutneys, and mushroom-Mattar & vegetable korma were yuuuummy with garlic naan. Yeti is under new ownership and it shows in all aspects of the food. My wife and kids used to love the chicken tikka masala, but now it has drastically changed. They no longer grill the chicken before putting it into the sauce. This small thing causes a great loss in flavor. The sauce itself is way sweeter and less dynamic tasting than it used to be. Which brings me to my favorite the Chicken Makhani. The chicken thighs are also no longer grilled and the sauce is extremely sweet. Also both dishes had a layer of oil/fat on it that we never had before under the previous ownership. I'm not sure where that comes from, especially on the chicken tikka which is chicken breast. This is the second time my family has had yeti under the new ownership and sadly it will probably be our last. Chicken masala and chicken vindaloo were our main dishes. We also had garlic naan and samosas. Am everything was layered in seasons and spices. The naan was perfect. Light, airy and soft and toasty. We both had medium for spiciness and for me it was perfect. I never get to enjoy spices because it's usually too much to enjoy, this was perfect for my vindaloo. The samosas were also done very well. The pastry was not too thick and was tasty. The service was nice, the food was seriously amazing and made thoughtfully. I was actually impressed by the quality and thoughtfulness of the flavors. Honestly. This is my favourite Davis restaurant. I highly recommend their tikka Masala, vindaloo and saag ! I usually order paneer or chicken and my partner normally gets lamb, it's consistently great. They advise that their medium heat wise is hotter than most, me and my partner are low-key spice fiends so we normally order spicy + / ++ and this is a great level for us. We always order the bread basket and tend to eat that more so than the rice. It can take a little bit longer but it's always so tasty and fresh. Very worth! Their Nepalese Samosas and vegetable pakora are gorgeous appetisers - but everything else I've tried has been great too. Honestly I nearly always over eat here.. I love the place! If it's busy, service can be a little slow but the food is well worth the wait. The servers are super friendly and helpful, one of the girls in particular always remembers the spice level we like to order and this really helps make us feel welcome back every time. We've dined here multiple times and brought friends and family here to try it, they've all enjoyed it greatly There's not a lot more to say honestly! The marketplace they have next door is a great place to stock up on your own herbs and spices for cooking at home, however I've yet to master a home version of tikka masala that tastes as good as Yetis read more

For starter, we ordered vegetable combination platter, which was a shared plate appetizer that came with four types of varieties and dipping sauce. It's great option if you want to try different items. It included naan, curry steamed dumplings, and two fried dumplings like food. They were all tasty and unique. Tandoori chicken was piping hot and served on a hot grill. Chicken was tender and had good flavor from marinating. But the downside was it's not juicy (not dry tho). Chicken Tikka Masala was my go-to order whenever I have Indian food. It's not spicy so I think it's great for kids and elderly. But the Chicken was hard in this dish so I think it probably would be better to order other kind of meat or veggie. Eggplant and potato had great flavor and also not spicy. Magnificent, authentic cuisine! I wish I lived closer. Visiting my daughter, I didn't have high hopes for a good meal in a college town, but, to my delight, I stumbled upon Yeti! When we walked in to pick up our take-out, we were greeted by friendly staff, who updated us every few minutes on the status of our order. The decor is chock full of eclectic art pieces, you'd never get bored just staring at the walls. As I walked to the car, a lovely scent was emanating from the bag. IT WAS THE RICE!!!! This told me 2 things: 1 The food wasn't over-seasoned, since the rice was the only thing I was smelling. Or maybe, it was on the top of the bag? 2 This was going to be the best rice I'd ever had. In. My. Life! Now, I haven't eaten rice for a couple of years, I'm generally grain-free. But, how could I turn down this opportunity to enjoy fragrant, fluffy, perfectly cooked, long long long grain rice? My goodness, how can it smell this good? There doesn't appear to be any seasoning on it. Obviously, they buy the highest quality, and they sure do know how to cook it properly! It was absolute heaven. The rest of the dishes were spectacular, mildly seasoned with fresh spices cooked properly for maximum flavor without overpowering, and not too salty. The okra was my favorite, YUM! You have to know how to cook okra so that it doesn't come out slimy. They know! My daughter says the paneer in the saag had the sauce flavor suffused into it, how did they do that? Finally, the Channa was superbly flavored. Maybe that one was my favorite! No, wait, the dal soup was my favorite! Everyone makes it, but this well? Doubt it. Great foundational broth, dal was not grainy, not oversalted, and the scallions were a nice finishing touch for a perfectly blended flavor that delights the senses. Thinking about Yeti has kept me up at night. I have so many unanswered questions. The biggest? The story behind the recipes and the chef. In my mind, the family recipes and techniques passed down, not on paper, but through telling stories over the stove with wooden spoons in hand, and with love. They also have pages and pages of other options. With such a large menu I found it hard to decide what to order. I ordered a chicken dish that was made with Nepalese spices. I also ordered the Nepalese Thali for an additional $3.00 to split with my husband who surprise surprise ordered the tandoori chicken. All the food was delicious. Warning to those who are klutzy like me. I dropped a piece of the pickled vegetable on my light beige pants. I ended up with a bright yellow turmeric stain. My chana masala (chickpea dish with mango powder) was so flavorful and the entire Thali meal was filling. The service is good but the food is not. I got two very popular plates: chicken tiki masala and a cauliflower and potato dish, mild spicy for both. When you say mild it means no spicy. It looks like there's sugar everywhere: Sweet tikka masala with 3.5 cubes of paneer. Really? We were on our way from Tahoe when we decided to stop in Davis to eat something. We've decided to dine at Yeti Restaurant because of great reviews. It was a partial success. Here is why: COVID has changed the way we live our loves and the way we dine. The restaurant crew did't allow me to wash my hands in the bathroom. Instead, we've got 2 Clorox wipes to disinfect our hands. It is a change to eat food when your hands smell like bathroom. The guy who took the order stayed 2 tables away from me, literally, even though both of us were wearing masks. He claimed they have apple pay, but the register was way inside the restaurant, so I ended up paying with the credit card. No gloves or disinfected pens as in other restaurant. When we finally got our food, fish with curry sauce was pretty good. There was fish, it tasted right, good portion and great quality. Tikka masala, on the other hand, was super duper sweet. When has it became dessert? The two portions of rice were packed into one (!) rice box. Is there a box shortage I don't know of? The naan was good, but a bit more expensive than in the menu. Sanitizing gel bottle looked dirty. No trust to the content. Bottom line: Probably it is not a bad place for take out, but dining outside is a pain. The restaurant hasn't thought through the processes at all. Don't order tikka there, unless you like it ice-cream sweet. read more

This place is gold! It smells wonderful the minute you walk in the door, prices are very reasonable, service is wonderful, and customers are happy! I saw the sign on the street advertising their grand opening so I had to go try it out. I was surprised when the server said they had been open three Weeks because it didn't have any reviews yet. My daughter and I decided to order the meat appetizer combo with a variety for $9.99, a Tikki Masala meal for $8.99 and a bowl of daal soup for $3.99. We couldn't finish it all! The appetizers were a meal for two unto themselves, delicious and savory. The Tikki Masala was perfect, and the naan was some of the best I've ever had. The soup was thinner than other daal I've had and very garlicky. I had to bring most of it home because it was too hot to eat when it arrived and I got too full to eat it at the end. I was disappointed we were too full and out of time for dessert. All in all it was a wonderful meal and I hope to get there another time before I leave town. Lamp chef specialty $16. Was in small to go container- it tastes good but looks so unappetizing- looked like blood. Special combo tikka $17 in a small container to go which had 5 pieces small chicken and 3 small shrimp. Okra masala was salty $12 Tandoori chicken was not good at all. $14 for 4 small pieces. They should not be placed on the bed of fresh cabbage. I don't know if we should eat the cabbage or it was just garnish for decoration. Sauté onions would have been better instead of raw cabbage. I understand restaurants are trying hard to survive the pandemic and I do appreciate that they are open to serve the community. However if they charge that much for the very small portion- at least the food tastes good and balance the portions well between the protein and the sauce. The only one was good was the house salad- only $4 for a decent amount and very fresh- however the dressing was not special at all. Nan was not good. Great service! Owner was outstanding to talk to. The food was impeccable. I got the chicken tikka masala and that is one of the best chicken tikka masala in the region! As well as there naan bread that was sensational and fresh. Also the main reason to go there is for the momos. Todays visit for the momos, the momos lacked some seasoning for their chicken but the dough was always fresh and thick. I don't know why the chicken was bland but it was probably an off day for the cook since momos take a strenuous time to cook. Otherwise any other day I go there the chicken momos are always the best in Northern California! Also there bathroom soap smells really nice. Thank you for giving us the discount as well!
