Yia Gia's is a nice little Greek deli with gyro's, salads, and some other classic Greek items. The left side is also a mini Greek grocery store where you can pick up good classic ingredients. Everything is solely Greek basked (obviously) so I can see how this place is very beneficial for some people in the area. Their desert bar was huge and for that I'll definitely be back for some baklava cheesecake, mark my word. I dined here for lunch during my day trip to Savannah. This place is not much on looks, but they have some tasty & authentic Greek food. Parking is very limited. From what I could see, there was only street parking available. There is a bakery counter on one side with tons of bakery items to choose from and there is a mini grocery store on the other side. You order at the counter, find your own seat, and your food will be delivered to your table or you can get it to-go. Everything is made fresh to order and you can tell this at first bite. I ordered the roasted red pepper hummus and requested cucumbers and pita. This was some of the best hummus I have ever had. It was flavorful and creamy. For my entree, I ordered the salad topped with chicken. The salad was full of fresh ingredients and topped with tons of chicken. Me and my friend decided to share the My big fat Greek gyro, which is a good size to be shared and comes with a side of fries. The fries were definitely old, didn't taste good and looked like they had been sitting out for a while. The gyro was not good too, it had fries in it which is weird and the meat wasn't flavorful. I've not had their gyros so no comment on that is possible, but I had their beef dolmas and a baklava pastry-based Napoleon. Both were quite good. The dolmas were robust and flavorful and the seasoning was true to Greek origins and not the bland rice-only dolmas found many places. The Napoleon was very moist, with tender, flaky, pastry and not too horribly sweet--it was like it should be, and that impressed me. The staff are friendly enough but seem expectant that their customers will not know much about Greek cuisine or will order very typical things like gyros. To be fair, I did catch them near closing. There is a decent selection of Greek/Middle Eastern groceries also for sale and they have a good selection of desserts to take away plus some cheese and other goods like olives for sale. Clearly, they set up to be as much a market as a restaurant which is pretty cool. I will go back--it's near my house and I'm eager to try more of their goods. With a limited menu and informal setting I don't see it as much as Greek restaurant but certainly as a market with the ability to make food to order, which is a great idea. The lemonade, however, was far far too sweet--like a syrup. But clearly homemade, just too sweet. read more

One of my favorite local spots to walk to from our house in Ardsley. The gyros are HUGE so come with an appetite if that's what you plan on ordering. Their hummus is DELISH... you won't want to buy hummus from the store after trying theirs because it's THAT good. The pita is really well made too. Their pastry case is always full of great sweets but I haven't had the chance to try any yet (I'm always too full). But I definitely need to. I was in the mood for some gyro meet, and came across Yia Yia's on Uber Eats. I looked at pics on Yelp to see what to expect and it looked delicious. I ordered lunch in advance and expected it at a certain time. An hour after expected delivery time, still no food. So I called Yia Yia's to check on the status, and they told me my food was ready for pick up but no one from Uber Eats had claimed the pick-up. The woman I spoke with said she would call Uber Eats and find out the status. Minutes later, she called me back and said that she would be delivering my food to me and that she told Uber Eats to credit me my money. Fifteen minutes later, my food arrived. AMAZING! Not only the service was personable and responsive, but the food was delicious as well. They even threw in a dessert! I was so impressed with this place I will definitely be a returning customer. The place is VERY CLEAN! 3. There is also a small grocery store inside that sells Greek items: herbs, candy, coffee sodas, oils, olives, etc. 4. Gender neutral CLEAN bathroom. You can read menu then order at register; seat yourself and they have outdoor seating too. We sat inside. We ordered the American beef/lamb gyro with everything on it (tomatoes, onions, tzatziki) combo (fries and drink) and Chicken Souvlaki gyro with everything on it and combo'd; $7.99 beef/lamb $8.49 chicken and $3.49 more for battered fries/drink! We should've ordered 1 meal because the portions are HUGE and we are big eaters! We couldn't eat it all and brought half of each home for a later snack. Very fresh ingredients! Everything was exceptionally seasoned, cooked perfectly, fresh and very tasty! The pitas were warm and tasted so fresh and old school (deliciousness!). We also ordered desserts to go: wedding cookie ($1.25) that starts with a "K", chocolate "COC" cake, which was the freshest, softest (NOT CRUMBLEY but so soft--yum) cake ($3.50) that I've ever eaten! It has chocolate mousse inside then coated in chocolate ganache. I also ordered a baklava cheesecake ($5.99)! OH MY WORD!!! The desserts were so fresh and heavenly! The "market" is small & somewhat sparse, but had an interesting selection of authentic Greek groceries & wines. Consistently good, and such great service - I just ordered postmates from them and left a note in the app asking for their homemade lemonade since it wasn't listed in the beverages. They gave me a bottle of Huberts lemonade and a nice handwritten note that thanking me for my purchase but that they weren't currently making homemade lemonade due to Corona. My husband and I can easily share a small Greek salad between the two of us to go along with our meals. They are so very friendly! I was shocked that a place so dedicated to looking so greek would have such a weak and very Un-greek greek salad. Mixed greens? A mere dusting of feta? Maaaybe 2 tomatoes and a few cucumbers? You can't be a greek deli/restaurant and have a Greek salad like that - you just can't. Gyro meat was moist and yummy but overall the gyro was not impressive. They put fries in the gyro too which were soggy and not a good addition. Disappointing. Baked goods were hit or miss. We tried a variety and only ended up liking the baklava. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the the place was extremely clean. But I will definitely be going elsewhere for a Greek lunch or treat. read more
