    So yummy

So a group of us were out on a Friday night and decided we were hungry at about ten o'clock. One of us remembered there was a potato place near by. None of us had been there but it sounded interesting. This place is super cute. It's small With three booths and four stools towards the front along a counter. But the potatoes are serviced in a paper bowl with a plastic spoon kind of like a bowl of ice cream so you could literally walk down the street and eat your potato. They have so many fun varieties. I wasn't in an adventurous mood so I just got a potato with cheese and butter. It was so good. We all loved our meals. And the prices are amazing. You can get a dish for 9-11 dollars. They also service alcohol which is fun. We will be back for sure! .

We were looking for something open late after a concert. This place is open until 2 am. No one wa in at 11pm except the staff. They were so friendly and helpful. I wasn't sure that a baked potato would taste fresh that late....it was so fresh and moist. I had the monterey (nachos in a potato) just the right amount of jalapeño and sour cream. Very tasty. Price is very reasonable. Definitely check this place out if you ate in downtown Savannah.

To be brief, this was genuinely one of the most surprisingly good places I've been to. The food was amazing, and we got it after taking to a singular server, who was incredibly kind, patient and helpful! The atmosphere was also great, and the place was really kid friendly. SCAD posters are hung on one side of the wall, while the other wall was covered entirely by sticky-notes, which you're allowed to add to while you're waiting. Overall, this place is great! I'd definitely come again!

At the far west end of Broughton is this small counter-service place specializing in potato entrees. Very simple and basic, reminds me of a fast serve place near college campuses. Good value for yummy savory potato meals. Think many iterations of stuffed potatoes. But can get a good filling meal for about $11. Better a takeout place than sitdown.

Interesting take on potato dishes. My husband and I had a craving for salty food. They have a good selection of either mashed potato or sweet potato combinations with different toppings. Very tasty. Each dish is quite large.

The potato bowls were amazing it was flavorful and surprisingly not busy. The person running it was very nice and the atmosphere was quiet and intimate.

Floor is tiled in Pennies...surprisingly, some have been pried off and stolen. #StarvingArtists

OMG this place is awesome! Baked potatoes smashed together in a bowl with your choice of gourmet ingredients. The Pizza-Tato seems to be the most popular, but I went with "The Rustic", basalmic glaze mashed with black beans and green onions. My only complaint, and it's not really a complaint, is that these are TOO filling! They only offer one size, and none of us were able to finish! Fun fact: all options are gluten-free. And it's easy to go vegetarian here, too. Fun fact 2: the vintage robot toy holding the menu board has a twin just up the street at the Planet Fun vintage toy store (another of my favorite Savannah shops).

The front door at 10 pm when the time they posted for closing was 3 am(5 hours later)

Tried to come here around 10 pm when there posted closing time was 3am. On the entrance there was a posted note saying "closed early Bcuz y'all have class tomorrow!" Super unprofessional honestly just shocked a buisness is capable of staying open while running such a P****pour ship. Very disappointed literally couldn't wait to try this spot now I have zero interest in trying it even if they were open.

Just happened to walk upon this little place and really enjoyed it. So much so I broke my number one rule when out of town. Don't go to the same place more than once. Went back the next night for dinner. I had the Monterey and the rustic added grilled chicken each night. There was only one guy working and he was very nice and friendly. The inside is small so you may have to wait for a sit but it is a quaint little place.

Potato to topping ratio in the Porktato. A lot more potato but I had less total ingredients. Add more to yours!

I'm a Five Guys fan. I love their food. This experience was incredibly surprising. I write this…read morereview disappointed and upset that I have to. My friends and I grabbed burgers, fries, and drinks in the evening after nine. We were not greeted when we entered. They were not busy. Only two other people were currently customers eating. My first friend has a gluten allergy. She told the gentleman at the register about her allergy. He was incredibly rude. He told her well I'm glad you told me about your allergy, because I didn't hear you the first time. When she repeated it to him at the end. She only wanted to make sure it was on the order clearly. He mocked her with his tone and attitude it was unacceptable. I placed my order and listed out my toppings for my burger. He informed me that was "All the Way" minus pickles and mayo. I told him I wanted pickles but no mayo. He was not thrilled and added the pickles. He then told me for next time not to list out everything. I completed the rest of my order. My friend and I did not tip. We felt his customer service was incredibly lacking. He then announced that people who do not tip get their food last. We had another friend with us she was last to place her order. She then felt pressured into tipping. She placed her order and tipped. While our food was being made the staff in the back was talking about how people who do not tip get their food last on repeat. It was like it was a joke to them. I was going to wait for my food. The service and treatment were ridiculous. We got our food. I actually got mine first, my friend whom ordered last second, then my friend with the gluten allergy hers took the longest to come out. She saw her food up on the back counter. They were just waiting longer to give it to her. The entire experience was unexpected and unpleasant.

Toward the end of ordering, I couldn't remember if I had already told the cashier, it was for an allergy, So I informed him it was for an allergy. His entire demeanor changed. He starts to angrily tap the screen and tells me that I should have informed him at the beginning of the order and that he couldn't promise it would be right. The body language and the tone of his voice changes toward me at this point on and he became very rude. At this point the line behind our little group has gotten longer so I'm just trying to hurry up. I did not tip for my food because of the customer service and tipping is an option. As soon as my receipt prints up and the cashier see my receipt he becomes loud and obnoxious. He turns around and announces to his team that we have a NON-TIPPER. I get dirty looks from the two staff in the kitchen, and they start repeating loudly "non tippers get their food last" "non tippers must wait" It's late and I really don't want to fight. I've had a long day, and I just want food. I stay at the counter to watch them make my food which is a habit because I have a food allergy. I take my eyes off them for 5 minutes because I noticed that one of my friend's look upset. I step over to check on her and she looks upset because she really wanted an Oreo milkshake, and I know she because she had been talking about it for HOURS and apparently the machine wasn't working so she would just get a coke. This is when the cashier makes this grand and loudly announcement that if she tips, he could make it work for her. So, she is forced into tipping to get a milkshake. I step back over to the counter to watch for my food, but it looks like they are already done? They are putting the bowl into the brown bag on the side. My friends get a table, and I stand to the side to wait for my food. A few minutes go by my food is still sitting on the side. The staff have continued to make announcements to the room about no tippers not being welcome. I almost feel like they are making a game of it. My friends have all gotten their food and I'm still standing there. The cashier is flat out ignoring me. I wave for his attention and point to the bag of food. He looks directly at the bag and tells me that my food isn't ready. He then makes this grand show almost like we were in a drama like he is finally seeing my food. Claiming that they are waiting on fries. I wait a few more seconds, I'm losing my patience and ask how much longer. He then gives me a scoop of the fries and hands over the bag. My friends have long since finished their food. I'm also upset. I open the bag to check on my food. The fries aren't fresh or hot, my burger in a bowl isn't warm or greasy. My paddies are lukewarm and since I didn't watch them make my food and they have been harassing me. I am too scared to even eat my food. I threw the food out. I can't risk it with an allergy, and I don't feel like making a hospital visit. As we are leaving the cashier makes a point to come over and ask how our food was? Ha! I've been to all the Five Guys in town and downtown in the past and I've never been treated this disrespectful over something so simple. This is completely unacceptable and uncalled for, and I feel like I was singled out and targeted.

Every time I'm anywhere close, I make it a point to stop, and this trip was no different. I was driving back home to North Carolina and had to make one last stop because it's just that good. The food is always fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. The sandwich was perfectly toasted with fresh ingredients, plenty of parmesan, and an amazing sauce, and the fries were cooked perfectly. Everything tasted just as good as I remembered. Service was a 10/10 and wonderful seating options MUST GO!!!

Even after the 2021 rebrand, it still held on for a while, but something in the last 5 years at the main office has completely lost touch. They expanded to three locations: ; downtown, Tybee, and Hilton Head, and in the process the whole identity fell apart. The menu has been gutted of its originality. The "OG" items are now overpriced, portion sizes have been cut in half, and the original sides that made it special are gone. What used to be a simple, order-and-sit-down experience is now chaotic. You're herded in by an overstaffed but somehow still disorganized team of high-turnover employees with zero consistency and very little emotional intelligence. There are always way too many staff for the number of customers, yet service somehow keeps getting worse. Last night was the final straw. We tried the Tybee location first, waited 30 minutes just to be seated, only to be told they were basically out of everything and could only do drinks. So we drove to downtown. Same exact thing. Out of sausage. When we asked if we could just remove it or substitute it, we didn't get a simple no, we got an "absolutely not," because apparently everything is pre-mixed and nothing can be adjusted. Even worse once we sat down. It took 15 minutes just to be asked for drink orders. A different server came over, introduced himself like we were starting fresh, and then got visibly annoyed when we said we'd already ordered water and a soda. From there it just kept getting more awkward. At one point he bumped my cup while I was literally lifting it to my lips and told me to "watch out" while he was placing food down. He took forever to check us out and finally bring our soda to go, and ended the night by saying, "just so you know I'm faster than the other girl," like we were in the middle of some weird staff competition we didn't sign up for. On the outside it still looks like a fun Savannah staple. But once you sit down, you realize you're no longer a local guest, you're trapped in an overhyped tourist operation that's completely lost what made it good in the first place.

Before our trip, one of my fraternity brothers told me that if I wanted some of the best Southern soul food in Savannah, I had to visit Mrs. Wilkes. He also warned me that there would be a long wait. Let me just say--he was absolutely right on both counts! We arrived at the restaurant and stood in line outside in the rain. We didn't get seated until 1:00 PM. Normally, I would not wait that long for a meal, but for the record, and I can't believe I'm saying this--it was worth every minute of the wait. The experience was unlike any restaurant I've ever visited. My wife and I were seated at a large table with approximately eight other people whom we had never met. Yet within minutes, it felt like we were dining with family. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and filled with genuine Southern hospitality. The food was simply outstanding. Every traditional Southern dish you can imagine was brought to the table and passed family-style from person to person. The home-cooked flavors reminded me of the meals many of us grew up enjoying. Everything was delicious, and the desserts were just as impressive. What made the experience even more special was the sense of community. People of different backgrounds and races were dining together, sharing food, conversation, and fellowship. The staff worked together seamlessly and went out of their way to make every guest feel welcome. While we waited in line, a gracious lady shared the history of the restaurant and the legacy of Mrs. Wilkes herself. The staff even provided umbrellas to guests who didn't have one--including me--which was a thoughtful gesture that spoke volumes about their commitment to customer service. From the food, to the hospitality, to the rich history and unique family-style dining experience, Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room exceeded every expectation. If you're visiting Savannah, this is not just a meal--it's an experience. I proudly give Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room a 5 out of 5-star rating and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Savannah.
