Gamjeon aka potato pancakes (3 medallions)

First off, let me preface this review by stating that I am an older Korean-American that lives in Koreatown....so I probably have my biases. When friends reached out and suggested we try this spot, it was a unanimous "yes" largely because it was a chance to try korean food outside of ktown from a recognized chef. The vibe was definitely more hipster which matches Higland Park's gentrification, but also more of a NY-Ktown sort of feel. It was clean, narrow and long with an art mural. The menu was fairly simple with both fusion and comfort dishes. We ordered 6 different dishes for our party of 4 to try a different variety of offerings. I believe the menu changes based on season or availability, as some items pictured were not on that evening's menu. The plates were shareable but on the smaller side of the spectrum. Food was inconsistent in terms of flavor or seasoning but the plating was spot on. Again it's hard to compare bossam from Yicha against the likes of Kobawoo, so i know I'm being biased. But the gamjajeon was more like a latke than jeon, as it was bite-sized and slightly thicker than most other spots (anyone remember Toebang?). The lumpia- mandu was decent and gave a different texture from typical mandu. But what really "hurt" was spending $18/bottle of soju.... But the servers were friendly and always checked in on us. They even did well to explain some of the dishes (or how to eat). It is a good concept in an area that lacks K-food/culture in general, and a cute spot for date night. But I was expecting a little different when someone said "let's try this pocha..."

Forgot to take a picture before diving in - spicy chicken tacos.

This place has been on my list forever after a friend recommended it to me. I was worried that for a holiday weekend, it'd be crowded, but on a Thursday night, it was kind of empty. Admittedly, I'm surprised it was empty since happy hour is all day on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. I bet it's crowded for weekends. We were pretty hungry, so we got a full order of wings with an Orion beer, kimchi cheese fries, the spicy chicken tacos, and a sangria. Everything came out super quickly and tasted delicious. The chicken in particular was cooked well, and I could tell that the blue corn tortillas were freshly made. I found the ambiance of this place clean but kind of whimsical. It seems to me that this place is run like a tight ship. I definitely want to come back for brunch.

Tried 6 of the cocktails. Radish to riches would be the one to mess you up the most. Melona dreamsicle was like a mojito but more on the sweeter side. i will always love yu is perfect for people who like sour and spicy. Corn quartet is similar to old fashion and the popcorn works. You eat 1, take a sip, then eat another. It was interesting. Meet me in pearis wasnt too sweet. My favorite foods would be the bossam. I also added a piece of mandu lumpia to my bossam wrap and it tasted even better. For the anju platter my favorite was the oystermushroom chips but jt was a little oily. The potato salmon was a good combination. The potato was soft and crispy. Friends loved the scallop. It was citrusy and recommended to eat with a spoon to enjoy all the flavors. Server was amazing. He scooped our soup amd handed it to us and also filled our water cups before provided a water container. Parking is in the back and its $0.40 an hour with a max of 2 hours.

Amazing food and outstanding service! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff was so friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back!

Their take on Korean fusion feels very innovative and I'm interested in going back and trying other things on their menu (which is quite large), but the four things I had on my first visit fell flat for me. I came a little after Lunar New Year and they had a dedicated holiday menu from which I got the rice cake soup and kimchi mungbean pancake. The rice cake soup was bland. It didn't stand out for me at all. The kimchi pancake was decent, but what really stood out was the sauce. I wanted to get Bossam as well because I was having beer, but this was sadly overcooked. It came with crispy garlic chips, which I thought was an interesting take, instead of raw garlic which is the traditional approach to eat Bossam, but I honestly still prefer the latter. The crispy garlic didn't do much for me other than add a crunchy texture. Also, it came with perilla leaves, but they were not fresh! They were wilted. Probably the best thing we had was the mushroom chips. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly! Also, the kimchi that came with the rice cake soup and Bossam was delicious! I think they fermented it perfectly that the flavor achieved their intended effect. Overall, I think a lot of the ideas are interesting, but the execution missed a few marks. Other than the food, the service was really awesome!

I liked it. Nice addition to the neighborhood. Inside is modern and stylish. It's a long, narrow space but there's a decent amount of seating. Good place for small groups or a date. A few TVs over the bar to watch a game. The menu is a yummy selection of Korean inspired bar food. Can definitely recommend the wings, bulgogi burgers, and wagyu bone marrow corn cheese. The cocktails are tasty. Loved the Meet Me in Pearis cocktail. They also have a good, but limited, happy hour (5-8 Wed & Thurs, Sun all day) only served at the bar. The kimchi cheese fries are a great shareable or a good side for a low-key fatty like me. Only complaint is portions are a bit small. Service was good. Friendly staff. There's street meter parking or a pay lot behind the building.

Yi Cha fills a gap in Highland Park with its Korean pub fusion. My husband and I went for early dinner weekday date night (5-6pm) back in October 2025 and more recently in May 2026. Both times we were seated and served quickly, even without a reservation. The dishes are creative. We like the Ktown nachos which uses crispy rice cakes instead of chips, and the newly added gamja jeon. We liked the bone marrow corn cheese back in October which seemed more like a twist on esquites; the more recent taste seems closer to Korean BBQ corn cheese. Cocktails are on par with other restaurants in the area. Parking available in lots behind the restaurant. The art wall is cute, fun, creative and a great photo spot.

The quality of the food was excellent and the atmosphere was perfect for a reunion. Whether you're a friend or a first-timer, it's a great spot in LA for quality bites and drinks. Highly recommended.

Saw this place on Instagram and was super excited to try this Korean pub. The service was great and the cocktails were actually really good, so that was a plus right away. Food-wise, I will say I was a bit disappointed. We ordered the king mushroom chips -- they reminded me of chicharrones, but I really wish they came with some kind of dipping sauce, maybe a gochujang mayo or something a little more interesting. The mandu lumpia wasn't that great, and for the portion you get, it definitely didn't feel worth the price. The bossam was also super small, especially if you're planning on sharing, and the flavor was just okay. And the hangover soup (gamjatang)... it just didn't have that deep flavor that a typical gamjatang usually has. The things we actually did like were the tofu kimchee and the Wagyu bone marrow corn cheese -- those were solid and honestly the best things we had. Interior-wise, I definitely liked the vibe. The restaurant looked really cute and well-designed. Overall, it's a fun spot for drinks and a couple standout dishes, but the food overall felt overpriced for what you get.

They say it's Korean family style, but the servings are kind of small. We only had one taste of each. Food is tasty and small place but it was good service and great peole.

New spot at highland park serving drinks and bar food. It's a relaxed and fun vibe inside. If it weren't our 3rd stop for the night, we would have probably tried more things! Mushroom chips were perfectly crisp and we loved the Melona Dreamsicle cocktail. We sat at the bar and service was very friendly.

Got to go back for the stew couldn't order it because we sat at the bar, so excited to come back and try it out next time

    Korean Caviar Dip
    Anthony C.

Yi-Cha (이차) translates to "second round" in Korean, referring to the next stop after dinner when friends keep the night going with more drinks and food. It's a key part of Korea's social dining culture, where each round deepens the conversation and the buzz. The name fits perfectly, because this spot is exactly where you want to be for that second round. Yi-Cha is blend of Korean pocha comfort and world-class cocktail craftsmanship. It's the kind of place that respects tradition while pushing flavor and presentation forward. I've been to several bars on the World's 50 Best list, and this one wouldn't feel out of place among them. The King Oyster Mushroom Chips are a simple but strong start. Each chip is crisp with just the right amount of seasoning, letting the natural savoriness of the mushroom take the lead. They're the kind of snack you unconsciously reach for again and again. The Mandu Lumpia comes wrapped ssam-style with Halmuni pork and shrimp filling, served with a bright Yuja Cha chile sauce. The magic happens when you wrap it all in perilla leaf with a slice of pickled onion. That bite brings together richness, tang, and freshness in perfect balance. The Korean Caviar Dip shows how well the kitchen plays with contrasts. Garlic chive crème fraîche, dashi-marinated ikura, Seoul-style gravlax, and soy-pickled Fresno chilies come together on a bed of seaweed rice chips. It's briny, creamy, and deeply satisfying without feeling heavy. The Tofu Kimchee is another hit, pairing crispy pork belly and lightly fried tofu with a kimchee gastrique. The balance between the fat, crunch, and acidity is spot on, creating a dish that's both comforting and polished. Then there's Chef Deb's Hangover Stew (Gamja Tang), a hearty bowl of spicy pork and potato broth with ramyun, tteokbokki, and a torch-melted layer of cheese. It's exactly what you'd want after a few rounds of cocktails, bold, spicy, and comforting. Yi-Cha's bar program takes craft cocktails seriously. This isn't a place where drinks are an afterthought; every detail, even the ice, feels considered. The Corn Quartet stands out the most. Roasted corn whiskey, Nixta, toasted wild rice, bitters, and puffed corn come together for a savory, boozy, toasted flavor profile that hits all the right notes. They even serve it with a small handful of popcorn that enhances the roasted corn flavor, simply brilliant. The Golden Gam offers a brighter contrast. Persimmon-infused gin, Lillet Blanc, and gentian bitters create an autumnal, floral cocktail that's both refreshing and refined. Even the classics are treated with care. I asked for a gin martini with a twist, and it was one of the best I've had in a long time, crisp, balanced, and aromatic without masking the gin's character. The bartender later sent out an "omakase" white Negroni, a bespoke take that showed just how skilled and creative the bar team is.

As a I grew up in Highland Park I took my wife to visit The Arroyo Club bar to celebrate her recent promotion after the bar was recommended to us by a close friend. We were looking forward to a fun evening and decided to participate in the trivia game being hosted that night. After receiving an answer sheet from the host, Matt, my wife and I began playing. The trivia topic was based on an older television show that we were unfamiliar with, and we initially used our phones to look up answers. A male individual approached us and informed us that using our phones was considered cheating. We accepted that explanation, stopped using our phones, and continued playing. Later in the evening, I observed bartender Justin speaking with the same individual and appearing to provide him with answers. When I questioned how that was different from what we had been told not to do, Justin stated that it was not cheating because they were part of a group. I responded that it was only a game and not a serious issue, especially considering my wife and I had only accumulated a few points. At that point, the interaction became uncomfortable. Justin informed the host that my wife and I should be disqualified for cheating, despite the fact that we had stopped using our phones when instructed. The employee who had originally confronted us also became increasingly confrontational, which my wife and I found intimidating. I later asked another bartender, Zach, what the concern was, and he explained that the winning prize was $50. While I understand the importance of maintaining fair rules, the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily hostile and embarrassing. What made the experience even more disappointing was that we appeared to be the only minority guests present at the time, and we observed other patrons using their phones without being confronted. This left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. My wife attempted to discuss how the situation made us feel with a female bartender who had blue hair. Unfortunately, her reaction appeared dismissive, and our concerns did not seem to be taken seriously. As we prepared to leave, the employee who had initially confronted us remained nearby staring in our direction, which further contributed to our discomfort. For reference, we were seated at the right corner of the bar if you were facing the bar from the front. I am not seeking compensation. Rather, I hope management will review the events of that evening, including any available security footage and discussions with staff members present. No guest should leave feeling targeted, embarrassed, or unwelcome while simply trying to enjoy a night out celebrating a special occasion.

There is a Jeni's ice cream shop across the street so if none of the desserts are speaking to you, that is another option. Would probably come back to sit at the bar but likely not for dinner.

My husband and I randomly stumbled upon Capri Club last night while we were out, and it ended up…read morebeing such a fun find. The vibe pulled us in right away--dim, moody lighting, cozy but still lively. It's one of those spots where you actually want to stay and hang out for a while. The drinks were really good. I even tried an espresso martini for the first time here and it was delicious--smooth, not too strong, and honestly kind of addictive. Perfect if you want something that doesn't just taste like straight alcohol. We also had some food and were pleasantly surprised--everything felt a little elevated but still really comforting. Service was friendly and laid-back, which we appreciated. Not over the top, but attentive enough. Overall, such a great spontaneous date night spot for us while we were in town. Would definitely come back next time we're in the area. **only thing I wished I had done was take pictures**

I was excited to celebrate my birthday here for the first time after hearing so many great things…read moreabout Capri. Unfortunately, our experience was beyond disappointing. We were told seating was first come, first served, so when a table opened up outside, our group of five sat down while part of our group went inside to order. Almost immediately, my friends were aggressively accused by a waitress of bringing outside alcohol, which was completely untrue. Shortly after ordering multiple drinks and several plates of food, another staff member came to our table and began yelling at us, threatening to kick us out for being "rude" to staff, even though we had done nothing but order our food and drinks. What made it even more uncomfortable was watching other guests openly smoking weed while staff said nothing, yet our group felt watched, accused, and singled out the entire time. As the only Latino group sitting outside, the experience left us feeling unwelcome, uncomfortable, and discriminated against. As a fellow restaurant owner, I understand hospitality and house policies, which is why this treatment was especially disappointing. What should have been a fun birthday celebration turned into a terrible experience, and we ended up leaving early.
